  • Automated tests for Java Swing GUIs

    - by pauldoo
What options are there for building automated tests for GUIs written in Java Swing? I'd like to test some GUIs which have been written using the NetBeans Swing GUI Builder, so something that works without requiring special tampering of the code under test would be ideal.

  • In a Rails unit test, how can I get a User fixture to load its associated Profile?

    - by MikeJ
In the documentation concerning Fixtures (http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/Fixtures.html) they provide the following example of using label references for associations: ### in pirates.yml reginald: name: Reginald the Pirate monkey: george ### in monkeys.yml george: name: George the Monkey pirate: reginald So following their lead, I have a User model that has_one :profile, a Profile model that belongs_to :user, and tried to set up fixtures per their example: ### in users.yml reginald: id: 1 login: reginald ### in profiles.yml reginalds_profile: id: 1 name: Reginald the Pirate user: reginald (Note: since my association is one-way, the User fixture doesn't have a "profile: reginalds_profile" association--putting it in causes an error because the SQL table has no profile_id attribute.) The problem is, in my unit tests everything seems to load correctly, but users(:reginald).profile is always nil. What am I missing?

  • Automating the Choose a digital certificate dialog

    - by MoMo
I am using WatiN (2.0.10.928) with C# and Visual Studio 2008 to test a SSL secured website that requires a certificate. When you navigate to the homepage a "Choose a digital certificate" dialog is displayed and requires that you select a valid certificate and click the 'OK' button. I'm looking for a way to automate the certificate selection so that every time a new test or fixture is executed (and my browser restarts) I don't have to manually interfere with the automated test and select the certificate. I've tried using various WatiN Dialog Handler classes and even looked into using the Win32 API to automate this but haven't had much luck. I finally found a solution but its adds another dependency to the solution (a third party library called AutoIT). Since this solution isn't ideal but does work and is the best I could find, I will post the solution and mark it as the answer but I am still looking for an 'out of the box' WatiN solution that is more consistent with the rest of my code and test fixtures. Thanks for your responses!

  • FlexUnit nested async tests

    - by sharvey
I'm trying to test some async functionality in flex 4. My test has two stages : var loader:MySuperLoader = new MySuperLoader() loader.load('foo.swf'); loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, Async.asyncHandler(this, function(e:Event):void { loader.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, arguments.callee); var foo:* = loader.content; loader.load('bar.swf'); loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, Async.asyncHandler(this, function(e:Event):void { /* This call to asyncHandler generates the error */ }, 5000)); }, 5000)); The second call to asyncHandler generates an error saying : Error: Cannot add asynchronous functionality to methods defined by Test,Before or After that are not marked async Is there a way to test such funcitonality?

  • FitNesse doesn't call setters in my fixture

    - by Maurits Rijk
I have copied a trivial example from the FitNesse Two-Minute example: package com.mrijk; import fit.ColumnFixture; public class Foobar extends ColumnFixture { private double numerator; private double denominator; public void setNumerator(double numerator) {this.numerator = numerator;} public void setDenominator(double denominator) {this.denominator = denominator;} public double quotient() {return numerator/denominator;} } However all test fail with: "Could not find field: denominator.", so obviously the setDenominator is not found/used. When I make the the variables numerator and denominator public instead of private, the tests run successfully. I must be overlooking something, but can't see it yet. Anyone?

  • ImportError using nose, no ImportError using raw unittest ?

    - by southof40
I get an ImportError when running my unittests using Nose and I don't when I just run it standalone. All files referred to here may be seen at http://gist.github.com/395541# . If I run the test script, importTest-Test.py, directly I get this output: C:\usr\x\data\src\Python\mmm>python importTest-Test.py In mmdb In BusinessLogic [] . ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ran 1 test in 0.001s If I allow Nose to run it I get an error : C:\usr\x\data\src\Python\mmm>nosetests.exe E ====================================================================== ERROR: Failure: ImportError (No module named mmdb.DataAccess.AttemptDB) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Traceback (most recent call last): File "c:\bin\installed\python2.6\lib\site-packages\nose-0.11.3-py2.6.egg\nose\loader.py", line 382, in loadTestsFromName addr.filename, addr.module) File "c:\bin\installed\python2.6\lib\site-packages\nose-0.11.3-py2.6.egg\nose\importer.py", line 39, in importFromPath return self.importFromDir(dir_path, fqname) File "c:\bin\installed\python2.6\lib\site-packages\nose-0.11.3-py2.6.egg\nose\importer.py", line 86, in importFromDir mod = load_module(part_fqname, fh, filename, desc) File "C:\usr\x\data\src\Python\mmm\importtest-Test.py", line 2, in <module> import importtest File "C:\usr\x\data\src\Python\mmm\importtest.py", line 1, in <module> from mmdb.BusinessLogic.AttemptManager import AttemptManager File "C:\usr\x\data\src\Python\mmm\mmdb\BusinessLogic\AttemptManager.py", line 1, in <module> from mmdb.DataAccess.AttemptDB import AttemptDB ImportError: No module named mmdb.DataAccess.AttemptDB ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ran 1 test in 0.002s FAILED (errors=1) The files involved in the package which nose is having difficulties with are in the following structure - some may be seen here http://gist.github.com/395541# .: mmm\importtest-Test.py mmm\importtest.py mmm\mmdb mmm\__init__.py mmm\mmdb\BusinessLogic mmm\mmdb\BusinessObject mmm\mmdb\DataAccess mmm\mmdb\__init__.py mmm\mmdb\BusinessLogic\AttemptManager.py mmm\mmdb\BusinessLogic\Collections mmm\mmdb\BusinessLogic\__init__.py mmm\mmdb\BusinessLogic\Collections\__init__.py mmm\mmdb\BusinessObject\__init__.py mmm\mmdb\DataAccess\AttemptDB.py mmm\mmdb\DataAccess\__init__.py This is happening on Win32 / Python 2.6 / Nose 0.11.3 . • Running a JUnit4 test - from a java program

    - by markovuksanovic
I was wondering how to run some JUnit4 test inside a java program. Basically - depending on some conditions during runtime I need to decide which test runner to use. Using Junit3 I could override runTest method from TestCase class - but in JUnit4 tests do not extend TestCase class so I have nothing to override... Is there maybe some method that I need to implement... or sth else...

  • Moq for Silverlight doesn't raise event

    - by Budda
Trying to write Unit test for Silverlight 4.0 using Moq 4.0.10531.7 public delegate void DataReceived(ObservableCollection<TeamPlayerData> AllReadyPlayers, GetSquadDataCompletedEventArgs squadDetails); public interface ISquadModel : IModelBase { void RequestData(int matchId, int teamId); void SaveData(); event DataReceived DataReceivedEvent; } void MyTest() { Mock<ISquadModel> mockSquadModel = new Mock<ISquadModel>(); mockSquadModel.Raise(model => model.DataReceivedEvent += null, EventArgs.Empty); } Instead of raising the 'DataReceivingEvent' the following error is received: Object of type 'Castle.Proxies.ISquadModelProxy' cannot be converted to type 'System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection`1[TeamPlayerData]'. Why attempt to convert mock to the type of 1st event parameter is performed? How can I raise an event? I've also tried another approach: mockSquadModel .Setup(model => model.RequestData(TestMatchId, TestTeamId)) .Raises(model => model.DataReceivedEvent += null, EventArgs.Empty) ; this should raise event if case somebody calls 'Setup' method... Instead the same error is generated... Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks

  • Writing a Makefile.am to invoke googletest unit tests

    - by jmglov
I am trying to add my first unit test to an existing Open Source project. Specifically, I added a new class, called audio_manager: src/audio/audio_manager.h src/audio/audio_manager.cc I created a src/test directory structure that mirrors the structure of the implementation files, and wrote my googletest unit tests: src/test/audio/audio_manager.cc Now, I am trying to set up my Makefile.am to compile and run the unit test: src/test/audio/Makefile.am I copied Makefile.am from: src/audio/Makefile.am Does anyone have a simple recipe for me, or is it to the cryptic automake documentation for me? :)

  • jquery - establishing truths when loading inline javascript via AJAX

    - by yaya3
I have thrown together a quick prototype to try and establish a few very basic truths regarding what inline JavaScript can do when it is loaded with AJAX: index.html <html> <head> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js"></script> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> $('p').css('color','white'); alert($('p').css('color')); // DISPLAYS FIRST but is "undefined" $(document).ready(function(){ $('#ajax-loaded-content-wrapper').load('loaded-by-ajax.html', function(){ $('p').css('color','grey'); alert($('p').css('color')); // DISPLAYS LAST (as expected) }); $('p').css('color','purple'); alert($('p').css('color')); // DISPLAYS SECOND }); </script> <p>Content not loaded by ajax</p> <div id="ajax-loaded-content-wrapper"> </div> </body> </html> loaded-by-ajax.html <p>Some content loaded by ajax</p> <script type="text/javascript"> $('p').css('color','yellow'); alert($('p').css('color')); // DISPLAYS THIRD $(document).ready(function(){ $('p').css('color','pink'); alert($('p').css('color')); // DISPLAYS FOURTH }); </script> <p>Some content loaded by ajax</p> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('p').css('color','blue'); alert($('p').css('color')); // DISPLAYS FIFTH }); $('p').css('color','green'); alert($('p').css('color')); // DISPLAYS SIX </script> <p>Some content loaded by ajax</p> Notes: a) All of the above (except the first) successfully change the colour of all the paragraphs (in firefox 3.6.3). b) I've used alert instead of console.log as console is undefined when called in the 'loaded' HTML. Truths(?): $(document).ready() does not treat the 'loaded' HTML as a new document, or reread the entire DOM tree including the loaded HTML JavaScript that is contained inside 'loaded' HTML can effect the style of existing DOM nodes One can successfully use the jQuery library inside 'loaded' HTML to effect the style of existing DOM nodes One can not use the firebug inside 'loaded' HTML can effect the existing DOM (proven by Note a) Am I correct in deriving these 'truths' from my tests (test validity)? If not, how would you test for these?

  • How test guice injections?

    - by yeraycaballero
I gave to Google Guice the responsability of wiring my objects. But, How can I test if the bindings are working well. For example, suppose we have a class A which has a dependence B. How can I test than B is injected correctly. class A { private B b; public A() {} @Inject public void setB(B b) { this.b = b } } Notice A hasn't got a getB() method and I want to assert that A.b isn't null.

  • How do I mock an object in this case? no obvious way to replace object with mock

    - by Tristan
Hi there, Suppose I have this very simple method in Store's model: def geocode_address loc = Store.geocode(address) self.lat = loc.lat self.lng = loc.lng end If I want to write some test scripts that aren't affected by the geocoding service, which may be down, have limitations or depend on my internet connection, how do I mock out the geocoding service? If I could pass a geocoding object into the method, it would be easy, but I don't see how I could do it in this case. Thanks! Tristan

  • Cross compiling unit tests with CppUnit or similar

    - by Mark
Has anyone used a package like CppUnit to cross-compile C++ unit tests to run on an embedded platform? I'm using G++ on a Linux box to compile executables that must be run on a LynxOS board. I can't seem to get any of the common unit test packages to configure and build something that will create unit tests. I see a lot of unit test packages, CppUnit, UnitTest++, GTest, CppUTest, etc., but very little about using these packages in a cross-compiler scenario. The ones with a "configure" script imply that this is possible, but I can't seem to get them to configure and build.

  • How to set locale default_url_options for functional tests (Rails)

    - by insane.dreamer
In my application_controller, I have the following set to include the locale with all paths generated by url_for: def default_url_options(options={}) { :locale => I18n.locale } end My resource routes then have a :path_prefix = "/:locale" Works fine on the site. But when it comes to my functional tests, the :locale is not passed with the generated urls, and therefore they all fail. I can get around it by adding the locale to the url in my tests, like so: get :new, :locale => 'en' But I don't want to have to manually add the locale to every functional test. I tried adding the default_url_options def above to test_helper, but it seems to have no effect. Is there any way I can change the default_url_options to include the locale for all my tests? Thanks.

  • TFSBuild.Proj and Manual SQL Server Work Help?

    - by ScSub
Using the VS 2008 GDR update, I have created a database project. I have created a SQL Server deployment package. I have created a database unit test. Using some wizards, the stuff got into my tfsbuild.proj file so near the end of the automated build process a database is created. I lack a little control of the whole process, I now see. What I would like to do is manually deploy the DB, run 3 custom scripts against the DB, and then manually start the DB unit test. I have other non-DB unit tests that already run. I do not want to use VSMDI or ordered unit test stuff because in out multi-developer environment it gets messy. Help!

  • Process spawned by exec-maven-plugin blocks the maven process

    - by Arnab Biswas
I am trying to execute the following scenario using maven : pre-integration-phase : Start a java based application using a main class (using exec-maven-plugin) integration-phase : Run the integration test cases (using maven-failsafe-plugin) post-integration-phase: Stop the application gracefully (using exec-maven-plugin) Here is pom.xml snip: <plugins> <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>exec-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.2.1</version> <executions> <execution> <id>launch-myApp</id> <phase>pre-integration-test</phase> <goals> <goal>exec</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> <configuration> <executable>java</executable> <arguments> <argument>-DMY_APP_HOME=/usr/home/target/local</argument> <argument>-Djava.library.path=/usr/home/other/lib</argument> <argument>-classpath</argument> <classpath/> <argument>com.foo.MyApp</argument> </arguments> </configuration> </plugin> <plugin> <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId> <artifactId>maven-failsafe-plugin</artifactId> <version>2.12</version> <executions> <execution> <goals> <goal>integration-test</goal> <goal>verify</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> <configuration> <forkMode>always</forkMode> </configuration> </plugin> </plugins> If I execute mvn post-integration-test, my application is getting started as a child process of the maven process, but the application process is blocking the maven process from executing the integration tests which comes in the next phase. Later I found that there is a bug (or missing functionality?) in maven exec plugin, because of which the application process blocks the maven process. To address this issue, I have encapsulated the invocation of MyApp.java in a shell script and then appended “/dev/null 2&1 &” to spawn a separate background process. Here is the snip (this is just a snip and not the actual one) from runTest.sh: java - DMY_APP_HOME =$2 com.foo.MyApp > /dev/null 2>&1 & Although this solves my issue, is there any other way to do it? Am I missing any argument for exec-maven-plugin?

  • c# Unit Test: Writing to Settings in unit test does not save values in user.config

    - by HorstWalter
I am running a c# unit test (VS 2008). Within the test I do write to the settings, which should result in saving the data to the user.config. Settings.Default.X = "History"; // X is string Settings.Default.Save(); But this simply does not create the file (I have crosschecked under "C:\Documents and Settings\HW\Local Settings\Application Data"). If I create the same stuff as a Console application, there is no problem persisting the data (same code). Is there something special I need to consider doing this in a UnitTest?
