  • Add data to a list box from a dropdown

    - by bachchan
I have a listbox (listBox) and a dropdown list(dropDown). I want to be able to select an item from the dropDown and add them to the listBox. I have looked everywhere for this but all I ever see is adding data from a datasource instead of a dropdown. I want this to be dynamic so the listBox is populated based on the a user selected in the dropDown

  • Is there a way to close a Unix socket for only reading or writing?

    - by Sii
Is there a way to only close "one end" of a TCP socket to cleanly indicate one side of a connection is done writing to the connection? (Just like you do with a pipe in every Unix pipe tutorial ever.) Or should I use some in-band solution like a sentinel value or some such? I only found shutdown() in the libc documentation and that doesn't seem like it does what I want.

  • What software should i use to work with Ruby?

    - by paranoid_pedlar
I've only ever learned to "program" with notepad when I was learning to create batch files in Windows. I would appreciate if you can explain to me the benefits of working with an IDE over a text editor or vice versa. Please don't give emotional responses or argue someone else's suggestion/advice. I use Linux primarily. Also, I would like to be able to make programs that can be used in Windows, but programmed in Linux. Thanks.

  • ABBYY Mobile OCR Engine for Iphone

    - by Heavy Bytes
I am looking to use/buy a OCR solution for my next iPhone app. Searching through the answers on this site didn't really help me a lot. Did anybody ever use ABBYY Mobile OCR Engine for iPhone? What interests me is how good is it (recognition) and how much does it cost? Thank you.

  • Is Microsoft Workflow Foundation really used ?

    - by ereOn
Today, I had a training on "Microsoft Workflow Foundation". While I think the idea is neat, I still see it as a Proof Of Concept and not as a real-life solution. Building an entire application without having to type a single line of code (or only a few of them) seems just wrong. Have you ever used this technology and if so, can it really fit to big company projects ? What drawbacks/advantages have you got using it ?

  • 'goto' usage

    - by Landon
I've long been under the impression that 'goto' should never be used if possible. While perusing libavcodec (which is written in C) the other day, I noticed multiple uses of it. Is it ever advantageous to use 'goto' in a language that supports loops and functions? If so, why?

  • How to specify java script files required by an angular app

    - by Vishal Kaushik
I'm looking for a way to specify required js files by an angular app. So that, we don't need to include an array of tag for all the files which may be required by some ng-app. The main idea behind this requirement is - we might not need to load all the resources on the browser at once. Which ever ng-app gets loaded onto the screen, will fetch its dependencies on its own from the server. Is there any existing way within angularJS to achieve this goal..?

  • What is your single most favorite command-line trick using Bash?

    - by hoyhoy
We all know how to use <ctrl>-R to reverse search through history, but did you know you can use <ctrl>-S to forward search if you set stty stop ""? Also, have you ever tried running bind -p to see all of your keyboard shortcuts listed? There are over 455 on Mac OS X by default. What is your single most favorite obscure trick, keyboard shortcut or shopt configuration using bash?

  • Flushing JDBC connection pools

    - by Matt
Does anyone know the best (or any) way to flush a JDBC connection pool? I can't find anything obvious in the documentation. It appears connection pools aren't meant to ever be deleted. My current thought is to delete all DataSources from the hash we store them in, which will trigger our code to make new ones. However, my first attempt throws a ConcurrentModificationException.

  • Double reversals on technology decisions

    - by Kev
Have you ever gone through a painful switch from one technology to another, only to switch back later in a project's lifetime? Was it because the technologies evolved differently than you expected, or because of something you didn't understand about them in the first place, or because they didn't fly when it came to beta testing or production? Did you regret the switch back too?

  • Why can operator-> be overloaded manually?

    - by FredOverflow
Wouldn't it make sense if p->m was just syntactic sugar for (*p).m? Essentially, every operator-> that I have ever written could have been implemented as follows: Foo::Foo* operator->() { return &**this; } Is there any case where I would want p->m to mean something else than (*p).m?

  • How do I set a resource file to non-embedded

    - by themaninthesuitcase
In Visual studio 2008 is it possible to have a resource file that is included as a separate file after compilation rather than as an embedded resource. This is to enable small changes to be rolled out more easily. I have tried build options of Resource, None, Compile and also copy local on and off for most of these. However when ever I try access the resource at run time I get a cannot find resource exception. Is this actually possible or am I wasting my time?

  • Can't retrieve an id through swfupload

    - by RichieH
I'm having trouble retrieving an echoed ajax response through SWFupload. Upon uploading a file, my account.php?action=uploadphotographs echos the number 37, the text field hidFileId should then be updated with this data. I'm not sure if the file is ever properly being submitted. Is there something wrong with my code? Heres a link to my SWFUpload code: http://pastie.org/962656 Thanks a lot!
