  • Python: disabling $HOME/.python-eggs?

    - by Mark Harrison
Is there an easy way to disable Python egg caching? We have the situation where a system account needs to run a python program which imports a module. Since this is a non-login robot account, it does not have a home directory, and dies trying to create the directory /.python-eggs. What's the best way to fix this? Can I convert my eggs in site-files to something which will not be cached in .python-eggs?

  • strange UnindexedFileException for Expression Encoder MediaItem

    - by George2
Hello everyone, When I use the following statement to create a new instance of MediaItem (VSTS 2008 + .Net 3.5 + C# + Windows 7), and I met with the following exception, any ideas what is wrong? I have tried with other wmv files, and there are no such issues. BTW: I am using Expression Encoder 3 SDK. MediaItem video = new MediaItem("1.wmv"); Microsoft.Expression.Encoder.UnindexedFileException {"Cannot seek file."} thanks in advance, George

  • Core-Data + AFNetworking + UI Updating (Responsiveness)

    - by Mustafa
Here's the scenario: I'm writing a DownloadManager, that allows the user to download, pause, cancel, download all, and pause all. The DownloadManager is a singleton, and uses AFNetworking to download files. It has it's own private managed object context, so that user can freely use other parts of the application (by adding, editing, deleting) core-data objects. I have a core-data entity DownloadInfo that stores the download information i.e. fileURL, fileSize, bytesRead, etc. The DownloadManager updates the download progress in DownloadInfo (one for each file). I have a DownloadManagerViewController which uses NSFetchedResultsController to show the download status to the user. This download view controller is using the main managed object context. Now let's say that I have 20 files in the download queue. And let's say that only 3 concurrent downloads are allowed. The download manager should download the file, and show the download progress. Problem: The DownloadInfo objects are being updated by the DownloadManager at a very high rate. The DownloadManagerViewController (responsible for showing the download progress) is updating the list using NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate methods. The result is that a lot is happening in the main queue and application has very poor responsiveness. How can I fix this? How can I make the application responsive, while showing the download progress? I don't know how else to communicate that the download status between DownloadManager and DownloadManagerViewController. Is there another/ a better way to do this? I don't want to use main managed object context in my DownloadManager, for reasons mentioned above. Note, that the DownloadManager is using AFNetworking which is handling the requests asynchronously, but eventually the DownloadInfo objects are updated in the main thread (as a result of the callback methods). Maybe there's a way to handle the downloads and status update operations in a background thread? but how? How will I communicate between the main thread and the background thread i.e. how will I tell the background thread to queue another file for download? Thanks.

  • CharacterType/ConfigurationType in vsprops

    - by Cthutu
Hi, I've been using Visual Studio's property sheets for building my code and I have a useful hierarchy of sheets controlling the build settings, rather than having them in the vcproj files. This is great except for one thing. I can't seem to set properties in the Project Defaults section such as CharacterType and ConfigurationType. I tried using a VCConfiguration tool in the vsprops but to no avail: <Tool Name="VCConfiguration" ConfigurationType="4" /> Can anyone tell me how this is accomplished please?

  • Looking for a good text parsing library for C#

    - by Chris Stewart
Has anyone run across a quality library that will parse, line by line, CSV, tab-delimited, and Excel files? I've started to do it manually but have noticed some of the intricacies in parsing a comma-delimited file. Such as situations where a cell has a comma in it as part of the data (blah,\"LastName, Jr.\",blah,blah).

  • Is there a CakePHP offline manual

    - by Leo
There used to be, but there don't seem to be any direct links. A little digging around revealed some answers which I thought it would be useful to share. These are links to the manual in one page - useful for offline use or creating a PDF using Dardo Sordi Bogado's build script: http://rapidshare.com/files/218826372/manual-builder.zip 1.2 Manual in one page http://book.cakephp.org/complete/3/The-Manual 1.3 Manual in one page http://book.cakephp.org/complete/876/The-Manual Also see this thread: http://groups.google.com/group/cake-php/browse_thread/thread/5f45c1d0...

  • Papervision 3D: How can I force dimensions on a collada file

    - by imadethisthing
Hey everyone, I'm working with Collada files and I need them to be a certain size. When instantiating them in pv3d you set the filename, materials, and scale. Scale works like a percentage, and there's no way to get the width, height, or depth of the DAE once in flash. I want to be able to specify the size of DAE in 3D space relative to other pv3d native geometry.

  • General Questions on setting up Subversion (w/Netbeans) and web development workflow.

    - by Roeland
Hey guys, I am web developer who currently works mostly on his own but, some projects require outside coding help (my brother.) Anyway, after running in to the problem of "working on the same files" and "saving over each others edits" I decided to research ways to avoid this. Through the help of stackoverflow I decided on subversion. My setup is the following: A windows 2008 server with a clean install. My desktop which is on the local network of the server. Then my brothers desktop which is at his house, not on lan. We both prefer to use netbeans for development. My Questions: How do we set this thing up correctly and most optimally. Here is my current setup and work flow. dev site: in the past I just created sub domains with my web host for test sites (company1.bythepixel.com, company2.bythepixel.com), and editted those sites with netbeans set up having remote sources (ftp). how do i set up my netbeans now? should I set it up with remote sources? I guess I may need to set up a web server on my local server. I'm just not sure of the work flow. When i hit save in netbeans.. will it update the repository.. then do i need to update the site from the repository somehow? live site: when going live, i would just copy all the files from the dev site into the live site. from what i gather i should be able to update the site from the dev repository? Currently I am toying with virtualsvn server (http://www.visualsvn.com/server/) on my local server. It looks like it is set up to use the http protocol. Is there advantages to this or should I consider something that does the file//. Do you recommend any other subversion software that would run on my 2008 box? how will my brother connect? should i set up a permanent vpn from his house to mine? suggestions? (not that important) how do I deal with databases, there anyway to do subversion on database? I know I have a lot of questions and I am trying to read / make sense of the free online subversion book, but its all so overwhelming! Wish there was a small subversion for dummies guide :)

  • FileReader File not Found Java

    - by Lucas Camargo de Carvalho
    I have done everything I know. The file is not a ".filetype.filetype". It is in the same folder as the .settings and the other project files. Why is this not working? Full path isn't working either, but strangely, a Scanner is working. import java.io.FileReader; public class test { public static void main(String[] args) { FileReader testFileReader = new FileReader("hotels.json"); } }

  • What code have you written with #pragma you found useful?

    - by Xavier Ho
I've never understood the need of #pragma once when #ifndef #define #endif always works. I've seen the usage of #pragma comment to link with other files , but setting up the compiler settings was easier with an IDE. What are some other usages of #pragma that is useful, but not widely known? Edit: I'm not just after a list of #pragma directives. Perhaps I should rephrase this question a bit more: What code have you written with #pragma you found useful?

Hello. I'm looking for some stand alone library to access NFS shares. I am not looking for mounting the shares, just browsing and accessing the files for reading. Preferable something with a simple simple API similar to regular POSIX operations of opendir, scandir, read and etc. Thanks in advance!

  • Android Eclipse test projects cannot be used with a project being built in an Android build tree

    - by orospakr
An Android Java project placed in a git repository and built in an Android tree in /packages/apps needs to have the project files located at the root of the git repository. This is problematic for creating a complementary Test project, which should ideally be included in the same git repository so commits are atomic for both code and tests. Eclipse gets very unhappy if you include the Test project as a subdirectory. Is there an appropriate approach for dealing with this other than creating a second repository?

  • How can I ensure my programmatic uploads are done in the correct order?

    - by ccomet
    In our application, we store two copies of a file - an approved one and an unapproved one. Both track their versions separately. When the unapproved is then approved, all of its versions are added as new versions to the approved file. To do this properly, my code has to upload each version separately into the approved folder, and update the item each time with that version's information. For some reason, though, this doesn't always work properly. In my latest scenario, the latest version was uploaded first, and then all of the remaining versions were uploaded afterwards. However, my code explicitly is supposed to upload the other versions first, that's the order I wrote it in. Why is this happening? And if it is possible, how do I ensure that the versions are uploaded in the correct order? Clarification - It's not a problem with the enumeration - I'm getting the previous versions in the correct order. What is happening is that the final version, which is written after the loop, is being uploaded before the loop. Which really doesn't make any sense to me. Here's a condensed version of the relevant code. //These three are initialized earlier in the code. SPList list; //The document library SPListItem item; //The list item in the Unapproved folder int AID; //The item id of the corresponding item in the Approved folder. byte[] contents; //Not initialized. /* These uploads are happening second when they should happen first. */ if (item.File.Versions.Count > 0) { //This loop is actually a separate method call if that matters. //For simplicity I expanded it here. foreach (SPFileVersion fVer in item.File.Versions) { if (!fVer.IsCurrentVersion) { contents = fVer.OpenBinary(); SPFile fSub = aFolder.Files.Add(fVer.File.Name, contents, u1, fVer.CreatedBy, dt1, fVer.Created); SPListItem subItem = list.GetItemById(AID); //This method updates the newly uploaded version with the field data of that version. UpdateFields(item.Versions.GetVersionFromLabel(fVer.VersionLabel), subItem); } } } /* This upload happens first when it should happen last. */ //Does the same as earlier loop, but for the final version. contents = item.File.OpenBinary(); SPFile f = aFolder.Files.Add(item.File.Name, contents, u1, u2, dt1, dt2); SPListItem finalItem = list.GetItemById(AID); UpdateFields(item.Versions[0], finalItem); item.Delete();

  • Website Development moving to Image Hosting

    - by Drew
We are moving over to using Akamai for all of our large static content so far just flash but are planning to include images, css, and js files in that list. I am curious what methods others employ to switch all of their local/relative paths to using an external hosting company. Also, how they continue to develop their site so that developers can make changes in development without it having to be pushed to their external hosting servers.

  • A simple Python deployment problem - a whole world of pain

    - by Evgeny
We have several Python 2.6 applications running on Linux. Some of them are Pylons web applications, others are simply long-running processes that we run from the command line using nohup. We're also using virtualenv, both in development and in production. What is the best way to deploy these applications to a production server? In development we simply get the source tree into any directory, set up a virtualenv and run - easy enough. We could do the same in production and perhaps that really is the most practical solution, but it just feels a bit wrong to run svn update in production. We've also tried fab, but it just never works first time. For every application something else goes wrong. It strikes me that the whole process is just too hard, given that what we're trying to achieve is fundamentally very simple. Here's what we want from a deployment process. We should be able to run one simple command to deploy an updated version of an application. (If the initial deployment involves a bit of extra complexity that's fine.) When we run this command it should copy certain files, either out of a Subversion repository or out of a local working copy, to a specified "environment" on the server, which probably means a different virtualenv. We have both staging and production version of the applications on the same server, so they need to somehow be kept separate. If it installs into site-packages, that's fine too, as long as it works. We have some configuration files on the server that should be preserved (ie. not overwritten or deleted by the deployment process). Some of these applications import modules from other applications, so they need to be able to reference each other as packages somehow. This is the part we've had the most trouble with! I don't care whether it works via relative imports, site-packages or whatever, as long as it works reliably in both development and production. Ideally the deployment process should automatically install external packages that our applications depend on (eg. psycopg2). That's really it! How hard can it be?
