  • Postfix: mail going to spam

    - by Yaro
All emails I send from my new server go to spam in Gmail (and sometimes yahoo). I've never before sent out mass email or spam. What I've already done: Configured reverse DNS Enabled DKIM Verified my IP is not on spam lists Verified I'm not an open relay Here are the headers from the received message: http://pastie.org/pastes/8450781/text?key=onxgrau1xinyqv7ridxrea Really, can't seem to figure out why the mail just doesn't come through. I'd really appreciate your help. Thank you!

  • Can arbitrary email addresses be stored in AD userPrincipalName?

    - by Rob Potter
I have a web app that is front-ended by ISA, natively authenticating against AD. All users currently log on with sAMAccountName. I would like to allow users to provide a personal email address and be able to authenticate against this instead. From what I understand the AD userPrincipalName is typically used for an internally generated logon name, which by convention, is often their internally generated email address. The web app that I have is web scale (circa 3 million accounts*) and not an internal, corporate app, so the email addresses will be from diverse domains. Can I just set the AD userPrincipalName attribute to the user's email address, and then will ISA natively authenticate against this attribute instead? I heard rumours of AD having a maximum number of domain suffixes that it allows in AD userPrincipalName...? (presumably it catalogues them). [*I realise that AD is not the ideal authentication directory for a user population of this scale.]

  • How to handle many daily emails from cron efficiently?

    - by drumfire
With each new server comes at least one more daily crontab email. The FreeBSD servers even send two: a daily and a security run output. Thanks to my obsession with virtualisation the number of emails I need to read (and then often discard without further action) is becoming too much. What ways are there to manage / automate this process? Can emails be replaced by something that is web based? Surely some of you must have found creative ways for this.

  • Why am I unable to send an attachment with Outlook via SMTP that I am able to send via Gmail / Google Apps?

    - by cwd
I have Google Apps installed and I have tried to set up Outlook 2007 to send messages via SMTP. I followed the guide, selecting what I believe are all the correct settings. Yes, I am using POP for incoming, that is intentional but I don't believe it should affect outgoing messages. When I log into gmail (google apps) for my company, I can send a message that has an 8MB attachment (pdf file, not zipped or anything) and it sends fine. However, when I send the same message in Outlook with that same 8mb attachment it fails. Why am I unable to send an attachment with Outlook via SMTP that I am able to send via Gmail / Google Apps? The message headers are (some info omitted for privacy): Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. • Sending mail from command line if body not empty

    - by cdecker
I'd like to write a simple script that alerts me if a log changes. For this I'm using grep to find the lines I'm interested in. Right now it works like this: grep line /var/log/file | mail -s Log [email protected] Problem is that this sends a mail even if no matching lines are found. The mail utility from mailutils seems to have no switch telling it to drop mails that have an empty body. Is there a quick and easy way to do so?

  • MicrosoftOnline Migration - Why do I have to wait several minutes before I can click "Finish?"

    - by Giffyguy
I'm using the MicrosoftOnline Internet E-Mail Mailbox Migration Wizard. I'm moving my email from several GMail accounts to my Microsoft Exchange Online mailboxes. Every time I migrate all or part of a GMail mailbox, I have to wait about five minutes after it completes migration before the Finish button becomes available. What is going on during this time? Is it something I am doing wrong, or is the system just slow?

  • What is the most efficient way to create Exchange 2010 mailing list from plain text list of external email addresses?

    - by Henno
I need to create a new mailing list in Exchange 2010 which would consist of about 50 external email addresses. I have the list of (external) email addresses in plain text format. I have previously solved this task by manually creating an external contact for each email address and then adding those external contacts to a distribution group. What would be the most efficient way to solve this task with Exchange 2010? Does EMS help here?

  • Distro List - can a member be made invisible?

    - by Jessie
Is it possible to set up a distro list on an exchange server to have certain members (or all) invisible to people sending email to the distro? For example: I'd like to have a distro go to Help, Support, and IT. However, I don't want the sender to know it goes to Help if they expand the distro in the To: field. I know this is most likely impossible, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

  • Google Apps or similar that supports shared inboxes?

    - by CarlG
I'd really love for my small business to migrate to Google Apps, mostly for the email. However, the big roadblock for me is the lack of any sort of shared inbox support (sales@... support@...) that would let multiple salespeople or support reps handle the incoming messages to the shared inbox in a consistent, graceful manner. Any recommendations for a similar service, or any add-on services to Google Apps that allows this?

  • Bugzilla not sending emails, even to the test file?

    - by donutdan4114
I have installed and setup Bugzilla3 for my domain. Everything is working properly except for the email functionality. The server uses Postfix, and that works for my PHP application, and command line. In Bugzilla, I have tried setting the mail_delivery_method to 'test', and nothing shows up in data/mailer.testfile, it is completely blank... I have no idea where to go from here, any ideas on what to try next?

  • CakeDC Users Plugin - I Can't Send Emails

    - by JimBadger
I apologise for the rambling nature of this question, please bear with me and I'll provide all the extra info needed for you to stop me going mad from failing at something that looks inherently very straightforward... I've just installed CakePHP 2.2, and the first thing I've done is add the cakeDC Users plugin. It's all working, apart from sending an email verification when a user registers. I've tried so many combinations of different things in email.php, that I have now utterly got my knickers in a twist. Whatever I do, when the verification email should be sent, all I get is: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. My email.php currently looks like this: class EmailConfig { public $default = array( 'transport' => 'Smtp', 'from' => '[email protected]', //'charset' => 'utf-8', //'headerCharset' => 'utf-8', ); public $smtp = array( 'transport' => 'Smtp', 'from' => array('Blah <[email protected]>' => 'Chimp'), 'host' => 'ssl://smtp.gmail.com', 'port' => 465, 'timeout' => 30, 'username' => '[email protected]', 'password' => 'secret', 'client' => null, 'log' => false, //'charset' => 'utf-8', //'headerCharset' => 'utf-8', ); public $fast = array( 'from' => '[email protected]', 'sender' => null, 'to' => null, 'cc' => null, 'bcc' => null, 'replyTo' => null, 'readReceipt' => null, 'returnPath' => null, 'messageId' => true, 'subject' => null, 'message' => null, 'headers' => null, 'viewRender' => null, 'template' => false, 'layout' => false, 'viewVars' => null, 'attachments' => null, 'emailFormat' => null, 'transport' => 'Smtp', 'host' => 'blah.net', 'port' => 25, 'timeout' => 30, 'username' => 'user', 'password' => 'secret', 'client' => null, 'log' => true, //'charset' => 'utf-8', //'headerCharset' => 'utf-8', ); } How do I get cakeDC Users plugin to just send a non-SMTP email? Or do I have to use, for example, my Gmail details? But, if I do have to go down the SMTP route, what is wrong with the above? Other info: I'm using the latest version of XAMPP and my PHP install is ssl enabled.

  • Webmin/ SpamAssassin doesn't appear to be 'learning' from forwarded examples of spam

    - by James
I have spamtrap@ and hamtrap@ addresses set up on my mail server and forward examples of spam to the spamtrap address. I was hoping that after a few examples, SpamAssassin would 'learn' to identify the particular characteristics of spammy mail with common attributes, but this doesn't appear to be the case - it still gets delivered as normal mail. For example, some emails from the same sender and/ or with the same subject line, despite being sent several times to spamtrap@, are just delivered normally. Does it sound like SpamAssassin isn't working or correctly configured, or have I misunderstood a fundamental aspect of how it works?

  • How to legitimately work around ISP rate limits

    - by Derek Ting
A lot of ISP rate limit the amount of e-mails that is sent from a particular IP address. What is the proper way to get around that rate limit? Our company has an iPhone application that sends many e-mails because of our large user base and many e-mails go to different ISPs that rate limit the number of messages coming from a specific IP. We do not send spam and we are a legitimate business. However, is there a better way to resolve this limitation rather than just getting a ton of IP addresses? Ideally, I wouldn't want to rely on a third party service to send mail. However, if its the only possible solution, we would consider.

  • Is it possible to disable the retry mechanism in Exim

    - by Tony Meyer
I have a very simple Exim configuration that's just forwarding all mail to a set of destination addresses. When immediate delivery to an address fails, the message is added to the queue (and then processed by the retry rules). I want to change this so that if immediately delivery fails, the message is :blackhole:d. (It's ok if a bounce is generated instead, as I'll just redirect the bounce to the :blackhole:). This needs to occur for temporary failures (i.e. 4xx) as well as permanent (i.e. 5xx) ones. I understand that this means that if delivery can't be done immediately the message will be permanently and irretrievably lost. In this particular context, that isn't a problem. Reading over this, it sounds suspiciously like "how can I improve my spamming Exim server". That really isn't what this is for, and if you can figure out a way I can prove that, I'm happy to do so!

  • Recommendation for e-mail forwarding

    - by Paul Mrozowski
We currently have a provider that we use to primarily forward our e-mails to both a hosted Exchange site and to outside e-mail addresses. We have a large # of forwards set-up (maybe 500). They work fine for us but the bandwidth costs are a getting pretty expensive (approx 80GB in email a month) so we're looking for a less expensive alternative (it costs us nearly $150/mo). I've looked at just hosting this here via a PostFix server and one of the nice front-ends available for it. However, I'm not thrilled with the prospect of being responsible for maintaining yet another server, backups, network connectivity, etc. So I'm leaning towards having this hosted by someone else if possible. Does anyone have any recommendations for hosting providers? Are there some I should stay away from?

  • Many users send using a single address, replies to that single address go to many users

    - by Keyslinger
I work in an office with a Microsoft Exchange server for email. I would like to have the following workflow: John, Mary, or Sam send a message from Outlook on their respective computers. The customer receives the message from the address "[email protected]" The customer replies to the message from [email protected] and it is received by John, Mary, or Sam depending on who sent the message (if it was sent by John, the reply is sent to John, and so on). All users should also be able to send emails from their respective addresses as well (e.g. [email protected], etc.) Is this possible? If so, how can it be accomplished?
