  • Method with throws Exception: Where is it actually handled?

    - by Esq
Here is an example code, I am throwing an exception here, it works perfectly fine without the try/catch block of code for some reason. Do I have to handle this inside this method "EntryDelete" or Do I have to handle this where the method is called from? If so can I see an example, what do I have to import in there? What is the acceptable syntax or method to do this? public boolean EntryDelete(int entryId) throws SQLException{ this.open(); kDatabase.delete(kENTRY_TABLE, kENTRY_ENTRY_ID + "=" + entryId, null); this.close(); return true; } Thanks

  • How to get result size from an SQL query and check size

    - by Jimmy
Hi I'm trying to write a piece of code for a simple verification method as part of a MVC. At present the SQL is not written as a prepared statement so obviously it is at risk to a SQL injection so any help in regards to writing the SQL as a prepared statement would be really helpful. The method which is in the User model. public boolean getLoginInfo() { try { DBAccess dbAccess = new DBAccess(); String sql = "SELECT username, password FROM owner WHERE username = '" + this.username + "'AND password = '" + this.password + "';"; dbAccess.close();dbAccess.executeQuery(sql); dbAccess.close(); return true; } catch (Exception e) { return false; } } I want to get the size of the result set which is generated by the SQL query and if the size of it is 1 return true else it's false. If you need more info on the rest of the MVC just post and I'll get it up here.

  • Grabbing an HTML value with JSF

    - by user560785
Hi everyone! I have a javascript that edits a hidden field in my jsf page: <h:inputHidden id="data" value="" /> and when I click on "Submit" I would like to get the new value of this HTML field that was modified by the javascript. I've looked into FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestParameterMap().get("data"); But that seems only to work if it is passed in as an <f:param/>. Is there a way i can get the value through a bean call?

  • IBM WESB/WAS JCA security configuration

    - by user594883
I'm working with IBM tools. I have a Websphere ESB (WESB) and a CICS transaction gateway (CTG). The basic set-up is as follows: A SOAP service needs data from CICS. The SOAP-service is connecting to service bus (WESB) to handle data and protocol transformation and then WESB calls the CTG which in turn calls CICS and the reply is handled vice verse (synchronously). WESB calls the CTG using Resource Adapter and JCA connector (or CICS adapter as it is called in WESB). Now, I have all the pieces in place and working. My question is about the security, and even though I'm working with WESB, the answer is probably the same as in Websphere Application Server (WAS). The Resource Adaper is secured using JAAS - J2C authentication data. I have configured the security using J2C authentication data entry, so basically I have a reference in the application I'm running and at runtime the application does a lookup for the security attributes from the server. So basically I'm always accessing the CICS adapter with the same security reference. My problem is that I need to access the resource in more dynamic way in the future. The security cannot be welded into the application anymore but instead given as a parameter. Could some WESB or WAS guru help me out, how this could be done in WESB/WAS exactly?

  • How to discard time intervals with Time Series / XYPlots using JFreeChart?

    - by Alex Arnon
Hi All, I am building a set of chart displays, one of which is for a month display of daily trading - that is, one point of data per day (closing). Since there is no trade during weekends and holidays, I need to discard these data points. Not only that, but data points should still appear adjacent to each other, regardless of any gaps in time. This can be seen in any such chart e.g. in the 3 month graph for Nasdaq on Yahoo Finance - see how weekends are skipped. My question is: how should one correctly implement this in JFreeChart? Thanks in advance!

  • Setting up Matcher for String phrase match in file

    - by randomCoder
Having trouble figuring out how to match a phrase string to a phrase in file stream. The file I'm dealing with contains random words such as: 3 little pigs built houses and 1 little pig went to the market etc. for many lines Using "little pig" as my pattern and matcher.find() I can locate 2 matches: "little pig" and "little pigs". However, I only want it to match "little pig". What can I do? I thought about using matcher.lookingAt() but I wouldn't know how to set a proper region when I can't rely on the file string phrases I'm matching being on separate lines.

  • Exception handling in Iterable

    - by Maas
Is there any way of handling -- and continuing from -- an exception in an iterator while maintaining the foreach syntactic sugar? I've got a parser that iterates over lines in a file, handing back a class-per-line. Occasionally lines will be syntactically bogus, but that doesn't necessarily mean that we shouldn't keep reading the file. My parser implements Iterable, but dealing with the potential exceptions means writing for (Iterator iter = myParser.iterator(); iter.hasNext(); ) { try { MyClass myClass = iter.next(); // .. do stuff .. } catch (Exception e) { // .. do exception stuff .. } } .. nothing wrong with that, but is there any way of getting exception handling on the implicit individual iter.next() calls in the foreach construct?

  • Manage groups of build configurations in Hudson

    - by Lóránt Pintér
I'm using Hudson to build my application. I have several branches that come and go. Whenever there's a new branch, I have to set up the following builds for it: a continuous build that runs after every change in SVN a nightly build a nightly site generation (I'm using Maven under the hood) and a weekly integration build for some branches currently this means I need to copy four template configurations and set them up with the branch URL. I don't like this for two reasons: It's redundant, so modifying something is error-prone and takes a lot of time. I need four full checkouts of the product per branch on every build slave, plus four separate private Maven repository, not to mention the built artifacts. This is a lot of space wasted. What I'd like instead is to have one workspace and one configuration for allthese builds. Is this possible with Hudson?

  • Spring 3: task namespace: How to find out time of next execution?

    - by Bernd Haug
I have a bean that has a method executed on a schedule using <task:scheduled> in the context configuration. Is there a way for me to find the time of the next scheduled run during execution of that method? The same method is also executed manually, and the mechanism for receiving scheduler information may not break executions from outside the scheduler...

  • Use ObjectOutputStream and FileOutputStream with FileWriter

    - by wishi
Hi! Is there any way to use ObjectOutputStream like this: <tag>output of the ObjectOutputStream</tag> If I try: FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(filename); ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(fos); FileWriter fw = new FileWriter(fos); And for example: fw.write("<tag>"); oos.write(cool_object); fw.wrote("</tag>"); I don't get that result. It seems the ObjectOutputStream overwrites the file completly each and every time.

  • Where does Subversion physically stores its DataBase ?

    - by Mika Jacobi
After reading many introductions, starting guides, and documentation on SVN, I still cannot figure out where is my versioning data stored. I mean physically. I have over 3 GB of code checked in, and the repo is just a few MB large. This is still Voodoo for me. And, as a coder, I don't really believe in Magic. EDIT : A contributor stated that not all the code was stored in the repo, is that true ? I mean, if I delete my local working copy I still can get back my source code for the repository... If so, I still can't understand how such a compression can occur on my code...

  • JTable data only shown after scrolling

    - by Christian 'fuzi' Orgler
    I wrote a method, that creates my DefaultTableModel and there I'm going to add my records. When I set the model to my JTable, the data rows are blank. After scrolling the data gets displayed correct. How can I avoid this and display the data from the first moment? EDIT: I imported the javax.swing.table.DefaultTableModel -- is this correct? private DefaultTableModel _dtm; private void loadTable(Vector<Member> members) { loadTableModel(); try { lbl_state.setText("Please wait"); for (Member actMember : members) { String gender = ""; if (actMember.getGender() == MemberView.MEMBER_MALE) { gender = "männlich"; } else { gender = "weiblich"; } _dtm.addRow(new Object[]{ actMember.getNname(), actMember.getVname(), actMember.getCity(), actMember.getStreet(), actMember.getPlz(), actMember.getMail(), actMember.getPhonenumber(), actMember.getBirthdayString(), actMember.getStartDateString(), gender, actMember.getBankname(), actMember.getAccountnumber(), actMember.getBanknumber(), actMember.getGroup().toString(), (actMember.hasAccess() ? "JA" : "NEIN"), actMember.getWriteDateString(), (actMember.hasDrinkAbo() ? "JA" : "NEIN") }); } } catch (Exception ex) { System.err.println(ex.getMessage()); } tbl_results.setModel(_dtm); } private void loadTableModel() { _dtm = new DefaultTableModel(new Object[]{"Nachname", "Vorname", "Ort", "Straße", "PLZ", "E-Mail", "Telefon", "Geburtsdatum", "Beitrittsdatum", "Geschlecht", "Bankname", "Kontonummer", "Bankleitzahl", "Gruppe", "hat Zugriff", "Einschreibdatum", "Getränkeabo"}, 0); tbl_results.setAutoResizeMode(JTable.AUTO_RESIZE_ALL_COLUMNS); }

  • Error Instantiating an Inner Class in Parent's Constructor...

    - by stormin986
In my application's main class (subclass of Application), I have a public inner class that simply contains 3 public string objects. In the parent class I declare an object of that inner class. public class MainApplication extends Application { public class Data { public String x; public String y; public String z; } private Data data; MainApplication() { data = new Data() data.x = "String"; } } After I instantiate the object in the constructor, I get a runtime error when I try to assign any of the inner class object's variables. Any idea what's up here??

  • How to adjust a JScrollPane to its contained JTree

    - by spuas
Hello, here I have a swing size question: I have a JTree which is contained inside a JScrollPane (which is contained in a custom component which extends JXPanel from swingx, but I think that has nothing to do with this question). Doesn't matter how many rows the tree has, the scrollpane is always bigger (the tree is dinamic but not designed to have many rows) but what I would like is the JScrollPane to adjust to the tree initial height and then show the vertical scroll when some of the nodes are expanded. I have tried without setting any size at all, setting tree preferred size to null and setting scrollpane preferred size to null as well but nothing changes. I DO NOT WANT to set the size manually... Is there a way to do this? Thanks

  • Test param value using EasyMock

    - by fmpdmb
I'm attempting to write some unit tests using EasyMock and TestNG and have run into a question. Given the following: void execute(Foo f) { Bar b = new Bar() b.setId(123); f.setBar(b); } I'm trying to test that the Id of the Bar gets set accordingly in the following fashion: @Test void test_execute() { Foo f = EasyMock.createMock(Foo.class); execute(f); Bar b = ?; // not sure what to do here f.setBar(b); f.expectLastCall(); } In my test, I can't just call f.getBar() and inspect it's Id because f is a mock object. Any thoughts? Is this where I'd want to look at the EasyMock v2.5 additions andDelegateTo() and andStubDelegateTo()?

  • Android Canvas.DrawBitmap without blurring/AntiAliasing?

    - by Sh33p
I'm trying to make an android game using sprites, (or very pixelated characters, backgrounds etc.). I draw them on the canvas like so... matrix.preScale(xrat, yrat); canvas.drawBitmap(img, matrix, null); Where img is the Bitmap and the xrat and yrat are the scales. My problem is that when I test, the Bitmap is blurry or anti-aliased, is there a way to prevent this? The rigid-blocky art style of the game will be ruined if the blocks are blurry. Any (ANY) help appreciated!
