  • How to pass non-fatal warnings from a library

    A library function parses a file and returns an object. If a parser encounters unknown data, missing values etc., it shouldn't throw an exception and stop parsing (because this is not fatal), but there should be a way to pass information about these things to a caller (so that warnings can be displayed in the UI, for example). How can these warning be returned? I'm thinking of passing a callback function/object into the library, are there any other possible solutions?

  • R segfault when running via Rpy on linux

    I'm running R via Rpy on a redhat linux distribution. Periodically I'll encounter this error message: *** caught segfault *** address (nil), cause 'unknown' And the entire program dies right there. It usually occurs when I run a lot of regression r.lm(). But by simply running the identical code again, the problem may or may not go away (so not always reproduceable). Does anyone know what might be causing this, and/or how I can prevent it from happening?

    I have a merging conflict, using Mercurial 1.0.2: merging test.h warning: conflicts during merge. merging test.h failed! 6 files updated, 0 files merged, 0 files removed, 1 files unresolved There are unresolved merges, you can redo the full merge using: hg update -C 19 hg merge 18 I can't figure out how to resolve this. Google search results instruct to use: hg resolve but for some reason my Mercurial (v1.0.2) doesn't have a resolve command: hg: unknown command 'resolve' How can I resolve this conflict?

    I've implemented a service that does an asynchronous sync to between my application and google docs. I want to update the top level activity of my application when the sync is complete. However because of the service it's possible that the app could be be in a unknown state. Is there a way to make the top level activity, whatever that may be, recreate itself from an asynchtask in a service.

    Hi, I made this link in order to destroy a comment :   <%= link_to 'Destroy Comment', [comment.post, comment], :confirm => 'Are you sure?', :method => :delete %> this suppose to send to the destroy action in the comments_controller. the problem is that it searches for the 'show' action, Instead of the 'destroy' action : Unknown action The action 'show' could not be found for CommentsController Do you think you know why it does that?     I'm querying a big mysql database with only read privileges, and I'd like to set some slow query results to a variable, 'foo', so I can use them again in other queries.
