  • How to get the width of the whole text of the widget in WPF?

    - by macias
    Remarks Before I ask, let me focus on words: the length of "i" is 1 the length of "w" is 1 the render width of "w" is greater than "i" (except for monospace font) -- I am interested in this and from now on, I would simply write "width" The problem (small picture) Let's say I have incredible long text set for TextBlock widget which width is 100. And the text does not fit (the text is clipped -- i.e. only small portion of text is visible). The question is -- what is the width of the entire text (visible + not visible parts)? The background (big picture) I have a window width DataGrid (WPF standard) as main widget which contains text. I try to resize window and DataGrid in such way, that all texts will be visible without need of resizing and/or scrolling. I focus on width. The size of the window vs. size of the screen is not an issue, the text is so short that it would fit even on netbook screen.

  • What really is the purpose of "base" keyword in c#?

    - by Pandiya Chendur
    Thus for used base class for some commom reusable methods in every page of my application... public class BaseClass:System.Web.UI.Page { public string GetRandomPasswordUsingGUID(int length) { string guidResult = System.Guid.NewGuid().ToString(); guidResult = guidResult.Replace("-", string.Empty); return guidResult.Substring(0, length); } } So if i want to use this method i would just do, public partial class forms_age_group : BaseClass { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { //i would just call it like this string pass = GetRandomPasswordUsingGUID(10); } } It does what i want but there is a "Base" keyword that deals with base class in c# ... I really want to know when should use base keyword in my derived class.... Any good example...

  • Most efficient way to remove special characters from string

    - by ObiWanKenobi
    I want to remove all special characters from a string. Allowed characters are A-Z (uppercase or lowercase), numbers (0-9), underscore (_), or the dot sign (.). I have the following, it works but I suspect (I know!) it's not very efficient: public static string RemoveSpecialCharacters(string str) { StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); for (int i = 0; i < str.Length; i++) { if ((str[i] >= '0' && str[i] <= '9') || (str[i] >= 'A' && str[i] <= 'z' || (str[i] == '.' || str[i] == '_'))) sb.Append(str[i]); } return sb.ToString(); } What is the most efficient way to do this? What would a regular expression look like, and how does it compare with normal string manipulation? The strings that will be cleaned will be rather short, usually between 10 and 30 characters in length.

  • Storing an arbitrary R object onto HDD?

    - by Harokitty
    I understand that we can export data matrices to csv or xlsx files. What about complex objects like lm? For example, in my work I might have a list of length 1000, each with a single lm() object. Each time I load R I have to wait a long time to populate the 1000 length list with these lm objects with a for loop or a lapply. I would rather just save the list somewhere on my HDD at the end of a session and open it at the start of the next session.

    I'm trying to download a file (all kinds of files, exe dll txt etc.). And when I try to run it an error comes up on: using (FileStream ws = new FileStream(destination, FileMode.Create)) This is the error message: Access to the path 'C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\RADS\solutions \lol_game_client_sln\releases\0.0.1.41\deploy'(which is my destination, where I want to save it) is denied. • Check if XML node is empty

    - by Vinit
    I have a simple XML structure like <main> <node1><!-- comments --><!-- comments --></node1> </main> and this can have any number of sub-nodes or values like: <main> <node1><!-- comments --><!-- comments --><p>texttext text</p> more text <br/></node1> </main> I want to check if the node is empty or not: I'm doing something like: <xsl:if test="string-length(main/node1//text())&gt;0"> But it does not work as if there are multiple tags, then string-length function will break coz of multiple arguments. Any help to solve this issue is really appreciated.

  • How can I possibly sort this in JavaScript?

    - by orokusaki
    I've been pounding my head on the wall trying to figure out how to sort this in JavaScript (I have to work with it in this format unfortunately). I need to sort it based on Small, Medium, Large, XL, XXL (Small ranking the highest) in each variationValues size field. The problem is that I need to sort the variationCosts and variationInventories at the same time to match the new order (since each value in order corresponds to the values in the other fields :( Input I have to work with var m = { variationNames: ["Length", "Size" ], variationValues: [ ["26.5\"", "XXL"], ["25\"", "Large"], ["25\"", "Medium"], ["25\"", "Small"], ["25\"", "XL"], ["25\"", "XXL"], ["26.5\"", "Large"], ["26.5\"", "Small"], ["26.5\"", "XL"] ], variationCosts: [ 20.00, 20.00, 20.00, 20.00, 20.00, 20.00, 20.00, 20.00, 20.00 ], variationInventories: [ 10, 60, 51, 10, 15, 10, 60, 10, 15 ], parentCost: 20.00 }; Desired output var m = { variationNames: ["Length", "Size" ], variationValues: [ ["25\"", "Small"], ["26.5\"", "Small"], ["25\"", "Medium"], ["25\"", "Large"], ["26.5\"", "Large"], ["25\"", "XL"], ["26.5\"", "XL"] ["25\"", "XXL"], ["26.5\"", "XXL"], ], variationCosts: [ 20.00, 20.00, 20.00, 20.00, 20.00, 20.00, 20.00, 20.00, 20.00 ], variationInventories: [ 10, 10, 51, 60, 15, 15, 15, 10, 10 ], parentCost: 20.00 };

  • How to find why NSMutableData is invalid

    - by 4thSpace
    I access a RESTFUL url and get back results. The results are in JSON. I turn the response into a string via: - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { NSString *json = [[NSString alloc] initWithBytes:[self.receivedData mutableBytes] length:[self.receivedData length] encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; The json variable has a value of 0x0. When I mouse over it, I see <Invalid CFStringRef. How can I debug this to tell why it is invalid? I render the JSON given back through the browser in A JSON parser. That checks out fine. Results are given back by entering an ID in the URL. Other IDs return results without issue. The result set is fairly large.

  • Need some help synch'ing outer loop counter with dialog.onconfirm()

    - by Chris Barnhill
    I am writing a game for Facebook. IN the following code, I have a problem. I have a for loop executing, and in that loop, I call a dialog and implement 'onconfirm' for the dialog. The problem is that I need to access th e loop counter inside of the onconfirm function. But because the onconfirm is called outside of the scope of the for loop, the counter value is no longer valid because it's been incremented. I need some way to pass the counter value to the dialog onconfirm as it was at the time the dialog was displayed, not after the loop has finished. Or maybe someone has a better solution. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. function unloadCargo() { //debugger; var actionPrompt = document.getElementById('action-prompt'); actionPrompt.setTextValue('Unloading cargo...'); var ajax = new Ajax(); ajax.responseType = Ajax.JSON; ajax.ondone = function(data) { debugger; if(data.unloadableCargo.length == 0) { loadCargo(); } else { //console.log('unloadable cargo='+dump(data.unloadableCargo)); var i = 0; var j = 0; var ucCount = data.unloadableCargo.length; for(i = 0; i < ucCount; i++) { cargoDialog = new Dialog(); cargoDialog.showChoice('Unload Cargo', 'Unload ' + data.unloadableCargo[i].goods_name + ' at ' + data.unloadableCargo[i].city_name + ' for ' + data.unloadableCargo[i].payoff + 'M euros?'); cargoDialog.onconfirm = function() { //console.log('unloadable cargo onconfirm='+dump(data.unloadableCargo)); var ajax = new Ajax(); var param = {"city_id": data.unloadableCargo[i].city_id, "goods_id": data.unloadableCargo[i].goods_id, "payoff": data.unloadableCargo[i].payoff}; ajax.ondone = function(demandData) { var demands = document.getElementById('demands'); var innerXhtml = '<span>'; for(var j = 0; j < demandData.demands.length; j++) { innerXhtml = innerXhtml + ' <div class="demand-item"><div class="demand-city">' + demandData.demands[j].city + '</div><div class="demand-pay">' + demandData.demands[j].cost + '</div><div class="demand-goods">' + demandData.demands[j].goods + '</div></div>'; } innerXtml = innerXhtml + ' </span>'; demands.setInnerXHTML(innerXhtml); // update balance loadCargo(); } ajax.post(baseURL + "/turn/do-unload-cargo", param); } cargoDialog.oncancel = function() { loadCargo(); } } //loadCargo(); } } ajax.post(baseURL + '/turn/unload-cargo'); }

  • Need help understanding .net ThreadPool

    - by Meredith
    I am trying to understand what ThreadPool does, I have this .NET example: class Program { static void Main() { int c = 2; // Use AutoResetEvent for thread management AutoResetEvent[] arr = new AutoResetEvent[50]; for (int i = 0; i < arr.Length; ++i) { arr[i] = new AutoResetEvent(false); } // Set the number of minimum threads ThreadPool.SetMinThreads(c, 4); // Enqueue 50 work items that run the code in this delegate function for (int i = 0; i < arr.Length; i++) { ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem(delegate(object o) { Thread.Sleep(100); arr[(int)o].Set(); // Signals completion }, i); } // Wait for all tasks to complete WaitHandle.WaitAll(arr); } } Does this run 50 "tasks", in groups of 2 (int c) until they all finish? Or I am not understanding what it really does.

  • Why wouldn't I be able to establish a trust relationship for a SSL/TLS channel?

    - by Abe Miessler
    I have a piece of .NET code that is erroring out when it makes a call to HTTPWebRequest.GetRequestStream. Here is the error message: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. I've read a few things that suggest that I might need a certificate on the machine running the code, but i'm not sure if that's true or how to do it. If I need to get a certificate, how do I do it? Code: var request = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create(requestUrl); //my url request.Method = StringUtilities.ConvertToString(httpMethod); // Set the http method GET, POST, etc. if (postData != null) { request.ContentLength = postData.Length; request.ContentType = contentType; using (var dataStream = request.GetRequestStream()) { dataStream.Write(postData, 0, postData.Length); } }

  • Java: Multithreading & UDP Socket Programming

    - by Ravi
    I am new to multithreading & socket programming in Java. I would like to know what is the best way to implement 2 threads - one for receiving a socket and one for sending a socket. If what I am trying to do sounds absurd, pls let me know why! The code is largely inspired from Sun's tutorials online.I want to use Multicast sockets so that I can work with a multicast group. class server extends Thread { static protected MulticastSocket socket = null; protected BufferedReader in = null; public InetAddress group; private static class receive implements Runnable { public void run() { try { byte[] buf = new byte[256]; DatagramPacket pkt = new DatagramPacket(buf,buf.length); socket.receive(pkt); String received = new String(pkt.getData(),0,pkt.getLength()); System.out.println("From server@" + received); Thread.sleep(1000); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println("Error:"+e); } catch (InterruptedException e) { System.out.println("Error:"+e); } } } public server() throws IOException { super("server"); socket = new MulticastSocket(4446); group = InetAddress.getByName("239.231.12.3"); socket.joinGroup(group); } public void run() { while(1>0) { try { byte[] buf = new byte[256]; DatagramPacket pkt = new DatagramPacket(buf,buf.length); //String msg = reader.readLine(); String pid = ManagementFactory.getRuntimeMXBean().getName(); buf = pid.getBytes(); pkt = new DatagramPacket(buf,buf.length,group,4446); socket.send(pkt); Thread t = new Thread(new receive()); t.start(); while(t.isAlive()) { t.join(1000); } sleep(1); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println("Error:"+e); } catch (InterruptedException e) { System.out.println("Error:"+e); } } //socket.close(); } public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { new server().start(); //System.out.println("Hello"); } }

  • Java JPA @OneToMany neededs to reciprocate @ManyToOne?

    - by bguiz
    Create Table A ( ID varchar(8), Primary Key(ID) ); Create Table B ( ID varchar(8), A_ID varchar(8), Primary Key(ID), Foreign Key(A_ID) References A(ID) ); Given that I have created two tables using the SQL statements above, and I want to create Entity classes for them, for the class B, I have these member attributes: @Id @Column(name = "ID", nullable = false, length = 8) private String id; @JoinColumn(name = "A_ID", referencedColumnName = "ID", nullable = false) @ManyToOne(optional = false) private A AId; In class A, do I need to reciprocate the many-to-one relationship? @Id @Column(name = "ID", nullable = false, length = 8) private String id; @OneToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL, mappedBy = "AId") private List<B> BList; //<-- Is this attribute necessary? Is it a necessary or a good idea to have a reciprocal @OneToMany for the @ManyToOne? If I make the design decision to leave out the @OneToMany annotated attribute now, will come back to bite me further down.

  • Is it faster to loop through a Python set of number or a set of letters?

    - by Scott Bartell
    Is it faster to loop through a Python set of numbers or a Python set of letters given that each set is the exact same length and each item within each set is the same length? Why? I would think that there would be a difference because letters have more possible characters [a-zA-Z] than numbers [0-9] and therefor would be more 'random' and likely affect the hashing to some extent. numbers = set([00000,00001,00002,00003,00004,00005, ... 99999]) letters = set(['aaaaa','aaaab','aaaac','aaaad', ... 'aaabZZ']) # this is just an example, it does not actually end here for item in numbers: do_something() for item in letters: do_something() where len(numbers) == len(letters) Update: I am interested in Python's specific hashing algorithm and what happens behind the scenes with this implementation.

  • Android / Java rare and seemingly impossible exception causing force close

    - by Guzba
    Hello all, I have an interesting problem being reported to me from an android application I have published. I have a two-dimensional array that I am iterating through using two for loops like so: for (int i = 0; i < arr.length; ++i) { for (int j = 0; j < arr[i].length; ++j) { if (arr[i][j] != 0) // does stuff } } The problem is, somehow arr[i][j] != 0 is throwing an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException. But very rarely. I have thousands of people use the app on a daily basis and get maybe twenty force close reports. Is this something I can't avoid, maybe a problem with the phones memory, etc. or is there something I can do that I haven't thought of yet? Thanks.

I know the question I asked is posted many time in this forum. And I have tired all of the solutions available, but no luck I may case I am trying to read a dat file which is basically a msg/feed file having more than 22000 Characters. Every line may or may not be of same length. My requirement is to convert the file to fixed line length character file. I have a logic that work well using vb script, however its pretty slow. I have checked with For f/ but no luck. The only delimiter I have is EOT, which i can see in Textpad but not in notepad. I have tried with \n, token=. Please help me in resolving the issue. • Making uppercase of std::string
