Hi folks,
I'm serving a Django app behind IIS 6. I'm wondering if I can restart IIS 6 within Python/Django and what one of the best ways to do would be.
Help would be great!
I need to be able to block the urls that are stored in a text file on the hard disk using Python. If the url the user tries to visit is in the file, it redirects them to another page instead. How is this done?
I just installed python 2.6 on my mac, mainly because I couldn't find freeze in my 2.5 distribution. I am wondering where freeze is. Is it even installed at all in the mac distribution?
I am looking to setup a automated screen scraper that will run on Google app engine using python. I want it to scrape the site and put the specified results into a Entity in app engine. I am looking for some directions on what to use. I have seen beautifulsoup but wonder if people could recommend anything else that could run on Google App engine.
I'm writing a shell for a project of mine, which by design parses commands that looks like this:
COMMAND_NAME ARG1="Long Value" ARG2=123 [email protected]
My problem is that Python's command line parsing libraries (getopt and optparse) forces me to use '-' or '--' in front of the arguments. This behavior doesn't match my requirements.
Any ideas how can this be solved? Any existing library for this?
Using python and wsgiref.handlers, I can get a single variable from a form with self.handler.request.get(var_name), but how do I iterate through all form variables, be they from GET and POST? Is it something like this?
for field in self.handler.request.fields:
value = self.handler.request.get(field)
Again, it should include both fields included in the POST and fields from the query string, as in a GET request.
Thanks in advance folks...
Hi there,
I feel like this is quite delicate,
I have various folders whith projects I would like to backup into a zip/tar file, but would like to avoid backing up files such as pyc files and temporary files.
I also have a Postgres db I need to backup.
Any tips for running this operation as a python script?
Also, would there be anyway to stop the process from hogging resources in the process?
Help would be very much appreciated.
What is the shortest / most elegant way to implement the following Scala code with an abstract attribute in Python?
abstract class Controller {
val path: String
}
A subclass of Controller is enforced to define "path" by the Scala compiler. A subclass would look like this:
class MyController extends Controller {
override val path = "/home"
}
I'm trying to work with sockets and I have such problem
In code example:
setsockopt(socket.SOL_SOCKET,IN.SO_BINDTODEVICE,self.listen_address+'\0')
I have error
AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'SO_BINDTODEVICE'
On Linux machine this attribute is OK but on FreeBSD trere are no any SO_* attributes in module IN. What port should I install to resolve this problem on FreeBDS machine?
Python versions on Linux tested:
2.5.4 and 2.6.4;
on FreeBSD:
2.5.5
I can't find anything about this module in my book, and googling keyword IN looks like seamless ...
Hi I have a MySQL server that I need access through a VPN.
I use MySQLdb package to access MySQL server in Python.
When I can access the server without VPN, it works fine, but when I'm at certain locations, I need to connect through VPN.
My computer is connected to the VPN and I can access the database through PHPMyAdmin, but MySQLdb gives me an error message:
OperationalError: (2003, "Can't connect to MySQL server on 'MY_IP' (10061)")
Any ideas on why it's not working?
Thanks
Is there some relatively simple way to programmatically include source code lines to python logger report. For example...
import logging
def main():
something_is_not_right = True
logging.basicConfig(level=logging.DEBUG,
format=('%(filename)s: '
'%(levelname)s: '
'%(funcName)s(): '
'%(lineno)d:\t'
'%(message)s')
)
if something_is_not_right == True:
logging.debug('some way to get previous line of source code here?')
So that output would look like this.
example.py: DEBUG: main(): 14: if something_is_not_right == True:
I'm looking for a Python XMPP library that is able to reuse an already existing socket-like object (more specifically, a Bluetooth socket) for communicating, instead of connecting to a server.
Is there any nice library that can accomplish this?

I need to use the Sybase Python module but our SA's won't install because it's not in the repo's. I've downloaded it and placed it on the box and would just like to 'import' or 'include' the module without installing it first. - Is this possible? From the looks of it (Sybase ASE) it needs some type of compilation before use. Is it possible for this type of work around?

I have two lists: one contains a set of x points, the other contains y points. Python somehow manages to mix the x points up, or the user could. I'd need to sort them by lowest to highest, and move the y points to follow their x correspondants. They are in two separate lists.. how do I do it?
I want to send a datetime.datetime object in serialized form from Python using JSON and de-serialize in JavaScript using JSON. What is the best way to do this?
Hello, I am creating a Beta Testers reporting module so they can send in thier comments on my software, but I would like to have the option to include a screenshot with the report. How do I take a screenshot of the screen with Python on Windows? I have found several examples on Linux, but haven't had much luck on Windows.
Hi! I am interested in saving and load objects using the pickle module as you can read in a question I asked before:
Python: Errors saving and loading objects with pickle module
Someone commment:
1, In an other way: the error is raise because pickle wanted to load an instance of the class Fruits and search for the class definition where it was defined, but it didn't find it so it raise the error
Now I want to save and load a class definition in order to solve the problem I describe in the question mentioned before.
Thank you so much!
What are the differences between these built-in Python data types: list, sequence and slice? As I see it, all three essentially represent what C++ and Java call array.
for example you run some client program, this program communicate with server to recieve data in realtime ... how can i listen to this network traffic and filter / store data in python?
