  • Shared storage setup for Windows

    - by KarmaVille
This is a n00b question. I want to setup a SAN that will be used as shared storage between multiple Windows 2008 R2 servers. By shared storage, I mean the files can be seen by all servers. How do I do that? Is it possible to implement this without a dedicated Windows file server? (I don't want replication). I'm doing this so that I can setup: http://activemq.apache.org/shared-file-system-master-slave.html

  • "must issue a starttls command first" when MSSQL emails via Microsoft Online

    - by David
I have written a stored procedure in MSSQL Server 2008 R2 which sends emails when my Application logs errors. It works fine on servers at our office but when I ran it on our remote servers I got must issue a starttls command first So maybe there is a setting somewhere which is different between the two servers, and that's why it's working on one and not the other. How do I set the server so that it issues a "starttls commaned first"?

  • Who are good suppliers of .NET 4 Hosted Virtual Private Servers ? (May 2010)

    - by Nick Haslam
I'm looking for a supplier for hosting a Virtual server, running Windows Server 2008 (R2 ideally) and .NET 4 to run an internet facing ASP.NET web application. I'd also like to be able to remote desktop onto it, and install other apps as necessary, including other websites as and when. I'm based in the UK, so a UK based supplier would be great. I was looking at Fasthosts, but having researched them a bit more, they look like a bad idea.

    - by judahgabriel
Hi guys, I've installed SQL Server 2008 R2, but connecting to my local machine in SQL Management Studio fails: Putting "localhost" or "." as the server name results in the same error. I've narrowed down the problem: there are no SQL services installed: Bringing up the Services control panel applet shows me there are no MS SQL services installed. Things I've tried: Repair install of SQL Complete uninstall and reinstall of all MS SQL products. How can I get SQL Server running?

  • If DEP has stopped an app, is there a possibility to see this events in a log?

    - by Ice
DEP (Microsofts Data Execution Prevention) stopps sometimes some apps and kills it out of memory. As an administrator, may i see such events in a log and if which one? My experience is that there is no user information as written in Help about DEP, user reported only that the desired app disappears from their screens. This happens on a Citrix-Server running on a windows-2003 R2 64-Bit Server.

  • Fix single entry from mbr

    - by Sander
I use EasyBCD to manage my tripleboot of (1) Windows Server 2008 R2, (2) Windows 7 Professional and (3) Ubuntu Linux. While trying to change the order of my boot menu I ended up losing the Windows Server entry. Luckily I had a boot menu backup (.bcd file) that allowed me to restore my boot menu using EasyBCD. However, when I now select the Windows Server option in my boot menu the Windows Server Recovery Environment starts up. So I have to select language/keyboard layout/etc. and then I have 3 options as shown in the image below. . My goal is to fix the one corrupted Windows Server entry from my boot menu without messing up or losing the two other ones. I'm guessing the Recovery Console (Command Prompt) is the next step and that I will be needing bootrec.exe. But when consulting this page: Use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows (about half way down there's a link that shows the bootrec.exe options) I'm getting uncertain. The page lists 4 options for bootrec.exe : /FixMbr /FixBoot /ScanOs /RebuildBcd What option do I need to fix just the server entry of my boot menu? Thanks in advance, Sander P.S. All three OS's are on the same physical disk (3 different partitions). Disk layout: System reserved (primary partition, 100 MB) Windows 7 (primary parition, 150 GB) Windows Server 2008 (primary partition, 150 GB) Extended partition (linux partitions (/,/swap,/home), 150GB + data partition, 150 GB) P.P.S. This is what my boot menu looks like using EasyBCD (Detailed/Debug mode) on my Windows 7 installation. • Setting external IP for Citrix Web Interface

    - by Callum Jones
I have a Citrix Web Interface (as part of XenApp 6.0 on Windows Server 2008 R2) that is behind a NAT, I can access the web interface fine (via both SSL and standard port 80) but when I go to launch a application that connection is still being made over the server's internal IP address. How do I configure the web interface to default to the external IP address of the box instead of its internal LAN IP?

  • Is a local account OK for TFSREPORTS in TFS 2010?

    - by Edward Brey
When installing a single-server TFS 2010 installation into a Windows Server 2008 R2 installation on a domain, a user account is required for TFSREPORTS and WSSSERVICE (which share the same account by default). Is there any value in using a domain account or would a local account on that computer (not a built-in account) work just as well?

Thanks in advance

  • Export MS SQL database as *.dbschema

    - by jjczopek
We have a production database and visual studio 2010 database project. We had to make some changes in database schema. Unfortunately we don't have previous database schema file for production database. Is there a way to export existing database schema as *.dbschema file, preferably from Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (2008 R2)? This way we could run schema comparison and generate update script.

  • WMI ASP.net Request per Seconds not right

    - by Louis Haußknecht
I'm querying a webserver for RequestsTotal and RequestsPerSec: Select * from Win32_PerfRawData_ASPNET_ASPNETApplications The server is a Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5 and I'm querying it from my Windows 7 workstation using a C# program. My problem is that both RequestsPerSec and RequestsTotal show the same value. Running perfmon on that server and selecting the counters there shows the correct values.

  • Remote Desktop from Linux to Computer that Requires Network Level Authentication

    - by Kyle Brandt
Is there a way to use rdesktop or another Linux client to connect to a server that requires Network Level Authentication? From Windows Server 2008 R2 -- Control Panel -- System And Security -- System -- Allow Remote Access there is an option that says "Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication". So with this enabled I can con not connect from Linux. I can connect from XP but you need SP3 and I had to edit a couple of things in the registry for it to work.

  • Can a Windows process continue between sessions?

    - by sofakng
I'd like to start a process when the PC starts up but before the user logs in. Then, after the user logs in they see the console/gui for already running process. If they logoff, the process will continue to run in the background until they log back in again. Is this possible in Windows Server 2008 R2? It seems perfect for daemon/server applications.

  • Cancel/Kill SQL-Server BACKUP in SUPSPENDED state (WRITELOG)

    - by Sebastian Seifert
I have a SQL 2008 R2 Express on which backups are made by executing sqlmaint from windows task planer. Several backups ran into an error and got stuck in state SUSPENDED with wait type WRITELOG. How can I get these backup processes to stop so they release resources? Simply killing the processes doesn't work. The process will stay in KILL/ROLL for a long time. This didn't change for several hours.
