  Since I'm making a full backup of my entire debian system, I was thinking if having a copy of /var/lib/mysql directory is a viable alternative to dumping tables with mysqldump. are all informations needed contained in that directory? can single tables be imported in another mysql? can there be problems while restoring those files on a (probably slightly) different mysql server version?

I was thinking of this: Use traditional PHP file upload form to upload the file to the server. Put files in a queue folder Move the queue folder to a "process" folder, and replace queue folder after a predetermined limit (time, cronjob, file count, collective file size) Run a command line virus scan on files in process folder Place safe files in holding area for use Is this a good approach?

  Hi I have just installed Hudson on a Weblogic server and I am having issues with the nodes going off line due to the Free Temp Space falling below the 1gig threshold. Now I have checked my /tmp folder (thinking Hudson uses that) but it is sitting at 10gigs free. Would anybody be able to point me to the folder Hudson uses? Also I am using a SunOS box. Thanks,

  There is apparently a bug introduced in the latest Java update for Mac OS X, which causes deletes in JFormattedTextFields to be performed twice. See http://lists.apple.com/archives/java-dev/2010/May/msg00092.html The DefaultEditorKit.deletePrevCharAction is invoked twice when the delete key is pressed. Are there any suggestions for a workaround? I'm thinking of replacing the delete action for my text fields with a patched version that somehow filters out these duplicate invocations.

If I have classes that use common .h files that are not currently in the existing pre-compiled header, would tossing them in there be of any real benefit? • How does porting between Linux and Windows work?

  If a particular piece of software is made to be run on one platform and the programmer/company/whatever wants to port it to the other, what exactly is done? I mean, do they just rewrite linux or windows-specific references to the equivalent in the other? Or is an entire rewrite necessary? • Multi-line regex support in Vim

  I notice the standard regex syntax for matching across multiple lines is to use /s, like so: This is\nsome text /This.*text/s This works in Perl for instance but doesn't seem to be supported in Vim. Instead, I have to be much more specific: /This[^\r\n]*[\r\n]*text/ I can't find any reason for why this should be, so I'm thinking I probably just missed the relevant bits in the vim help. Can anyone confirm this behaviour one way or the other?
