  • iphone-AVAudio Player Crashes

    - by user2779450
I have an app that uses an avaudio player for two things. One of them is to play an explosion sound when a uiimageview collision is detected, and the other is to play a lazer sound when a button is pressed. I declared the audioplayer in the .h class, and I call it each time the button is clicked by doing this: NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"/lazer" ofType:@"mp3"]]; NSError *error; audioPlayer = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:url error:&error]; if (error) { NSLog(@"Error in audioPlayer: %@", [error localizedDescription]); } else { [audioPlayer prepareToPlay]; } [audioPlayer play]; This works fine, but after many uses of the game, the audio will stop play when i hit the button, and when a collision is detected, the game crashes. Here is my crash log: 2013-09-18 18:09:19.618 BattleShip[506:907] 18:09:19.617 shm_open failed: "AppleAudioQueue.41.2619" (23) flags=0x2 errno=24 (lldb) Suggestions? Could there be something to do with repeatedly creating an audio player? Alternatives maybe?

  • How do I draw a proper parallelogram that can be animated on iPhone?

    - by Robert Kosara
I'm trying to do something very simple: I need some parallelograms in my program. These are attached to other objects, all of which are UIViews. It's important that I be able to animate these, since the objects they are attached to can also be animated. I've figured out how to use the transform in UIView/CALayer to do this, but the problem is that these sheared UIViews don't look very nice: there is no anti-aliasing of the edges. Is there some other way to do this? I would like to use UIViews, since I also use them for user interaction and animation is so much easier than drawing by hand. I don't want to use OpenGL for this.

  • passing argument 1 from incompatible pointer type

    - by Andrew
Why does this code...: NSDictionary *testDictionary = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:kABOtherLabel, @"other", kABWorkLabel, @"work", nil]; throw this warning: warning: passing argument 1 of 'dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys' from incompatible pointer type Incidentally, the code works as expected, but I don't like leaving warnings un-delt-with. I assume it doesn't like that I'm storing a constant in a dictionary. Well, where can I store it then? Should I just place (void *) before every constant?

  • get current selected button cell placed inside tableview using cocoa

    - by Swati
hi i have a NSTableView i have two columns A and B B contains some data A contains custom button the button is added to column A using this: Below code is placed inside awakeFromNib method NSButtonCell *buttonCell = [[[NSButtonCell alloc] init] autorelease]; [buttonCell setBordered:NO]; [buttonCell setImagePosition:NSImageOnly]; [buttonCell setButtonType:NSMomentaryChangeButton]; [buttonCell setImage:[NSImage imageNamed:@"uncheck.png"]]; [buttonCell setSelectable:TRUE]; [buttonCell setTag:100]; [buttonCell setTarget:self]; [buttonCell setAction:@selector(selectButtonsForDeletion:)]; [[myTable tableColumnWithIdentifier:@"EditIdentifier"] setDataCell:buttonCell]; Some code in display cell of nstableview: -(void)tableView:(NSTableView *)tableView willDisplayCell:(id)cell forTableColumn:(NSTableColumn *)tableColumn row:(NSInteger)rowIndex { if(tableView == myTable) { if([[tableColumn identifier] isEqualToString:@"DataIdentifier"]) { } else if([[tableColumn identifier] isEqualToString:@"EditIdentifier"]) { NSButtonCell *zCell = (NSButtonCell *)cell; [zCell setTag:rowIndex]; [zCell setTitle:@"abc"]; [zCell setTarget:self]; [zCell setAction:@selector(selectButtonsForDeletion:)]; } } } now i want that when i click on the button the image of button cell gets changed as well as i want to do some coding. When button gets clicked then by default the tableView's reference gets passed. How can i get the button cell reference i looked here for similar problem: Cocoa: how to nest a button inside a Table View cell? but i am unable to add button inside column of NSTableView. How i change the image: - (void)tableView:(NSTableView *)tableView setObjectValue:(id)object forTableColumn:(NSTableColumn *)tableColumn row:(NSInteger)row; { if(tableView == myTable) { if([[tableColumn identifier] isEqualToString:@"EditIdentifier"]) { NSButtonCell *aCell = (NSButtonCell *)[[tableView tableColumnWithIdentifier:@"EditIdentifier"] dataCellForRow:row]; NSInteger index = [[aCell title]intValue]; if([self.selectedIndexesArray count]>0) { if(![self.selectedIndexesArray containsObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:index]]) { [aCell setImage:[NSImage imageNamed:@"check.png"]]; [self.selectedIndexesArray addObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:index]]; } else { [aCell setImage:[NSImage imageNamed:@"uncheck.png"]]; [self.selectedIndexesArray removeObjectAtIndex:[selectedIndexesArray indexOfObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:index]]]; } } else { [aCell setImage:[NSImage imageNamed:@"check.png"]]; [self.selectedIndexesArray addObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:index]]; } } } } I have debugged the code and found that proper tag and titles are passed but image applies on more than one button cell, this is too very irregular. cant understand how its working!!! Any suggestions what am i doing wrong??

  • Core Data Relationship problem

    - by awattar
    I have a very simple model with two objects: Name and Category. One Name can be in many Categories (it's one way relationship). I'm trying to create 8 Categories every with 8 Names. Example code: NSMutableArray *localArray = [NSMutableArray arrayWithObjects: [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"g1", @"Name", @"g1", @"Icon", [NSNumber numberWithBool:YES] , @"Male", nil], [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"g2", @"Name", @"g2", @"Icon", [NSNumber numberWithBool:YES] , @"Male", nil], [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"g3", @"Name", @"g3", @"Icon", [NSNumber numberWithBool:YES] , @"Male", nil], [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"g4", @"Name", @"g4", @"Icon", [NSNumber numberWithBool:YES] , @"Male", nil], [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"g5", @"Name", @"g5", @"Icon", [NSNumber numberWithBool:YES] , @"Male", nil], [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"g6", @"Name", @"g6", @"Icon", [NSNumber numberWithBool:YES] , @"Male", nil], [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"g7", @"Name", @"g7", @"Icon", [NSNumber numberWithBool:YES] , @"Male", nil], [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"g8", @"Name", @"g8", @"Icon", [NSNumber numberWithBool:YES] , @"Male", nil], nil]; NSMutableArray *localArray2 = [NSMutableArray arrayWithObjects: [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"Test1", @"Name", nil], [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"Test2", @"Name", nil], [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"Test3", @"Name", nil], [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"Test4", @"Name", nil], [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"Test5", @"Name", nil], [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"Test6", @"Name", nil], [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"Test7", @"Name", nil], [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"Test8", @"Name", nil], nil]; NSError *error; NSManagedObjectContext *moc = [(AppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] managedObjectContext]; for(NSMutableDictionary *item in localArray) { NSManagedObject *category = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Category" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; [category setValue:[item objectForKey:@"Name"] forKey:@"Name"]; [category setValue:[item objectForKey:@"Icon"] forKey:@"Icon"]; [category setValue:[item objectForKey:@"Male"] forKey:@"Male"]; for(NSMutableDictionary *item2 in localArray2) { NSManagedObject *name = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Name" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; [name setValue:[item2 objectForKey:@"Name"] forKey:@"Name"]; [[name mutableSetValueForKey:@"CategoryRelationship"] addObject:category]; } } [moc save:&error]; And here's a problem - i've checked that 8 Categories are saved, 64 Names are saved but only 8 from all Names are connected with any category. So when i query for Names in Categories [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"CategoryRelationship.@count != 0"] there are 8 elements and when [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"CategoryRelationship.@count = 0"] there are 56 elements. What is going one here?

  • Can I disable UIPickerView scroll sound?

    - by cocoaholic
Hi, I want to disable the annoying clicks that the UIPickerView generates upon scrolling up and down. Is there a way to do this? I want to play short sounds for each item that the picker view lands upon. It gets ruined by the built in sound. I understand that the picker sounds can be turned off globally by switching off the keyboard sounds in iPhone/iPod settings. But is there a way to programatically do this? Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks

  • Faking a dynamic schema in Core Data?

    - by Gouldsc
From reading the Apple Docs on Core Data, I've learned that you should not use Core Data when you need a dynamic schema. If I wanted to provide the user the ability to create their own properties, in a core data model would it work if I created some "dummy" attributes like "custom decimal 1", "custom decimal 2", "custom text 1", "custom text 2" etc that the user could name and use for their own purposes? Obviously this won't work for relationships, but for simple properties it seems like a reasonable workaround. Will creating a bunch of dummy attributes on my entities that go unused by most users noticeably decrease performance for them? Have any of you tried something like this? Thanks!

  • Cut and paste out of/ into text fields in a separate window doesn't work

    - by Brian Postow
I have a Macintosh Mozilla plugin which puts up a separate window for login information. It seems to work fine, it gets keyboard events like typing and hitting return to hit the default button. HOWEVER, it doesn't seem to get cut and paste events. When I hit Cmd-v, the edit menu flashes, but nothing happnes. Is this a problem with my responder chain? Do I have to specially tell Mozilla that I want these events? or am I likely to have some other problem that I haven't even thought of? thanks.

  • How to convert the date string into string( yyyy-MM-dd). While doing so, I getting null values ?

    - by Madan Mohan
    Hi, I have the data as customerFromDate " 01 Apr 2010 " and customerToDate " 30 Apr 2010 " which is a string. I want to convert that format into yyyy-MM-dd it should be in string. but while doing so. I got null values. Please see the following code which I had tried. printf("\n customerFromDate %s",[customerStatementObj.customerFromDate UTF8String]); printf("\n customerToDate %s",[customerStatementObj.customerToDate UTF8String]); /* prints as the following customerFromDate 01 Apr 2010 customerToDate 30 Apr 2010 */ NSDateFormatter *dateFormatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc]init]; [dateFormatter setDateFormat:@"yyyy-MM-dd"]; NSDate *fromDate=[[NSDate alloc]init]; fromDate = [dateFormatter dateFromString:customerStatementObj.customerFromDate]; printf("\n fromDate: %s",[fromDate.description UTF8String]); NSString *fromDateString=[dateFormatter stringFromDate:fromDate]; printf("\n fromDateString: %s",[fromDateString UTF8String]); [dateFormatter release]; NSDateFormatter *dateFormatter1 = [[NSDateFormatter alloc]init]; [dateFormatter1 setDateFormat:@"yyyy-MM-dd"]; NSDate *toDate=[[NSDate alloc]init]; toDate = [dateFormatter1 dateFromString:customerStatementObj.customerToDate]; printf("\n toDate: %s",[toDate.description UTF8String]); NSString *toDateString=[dateFormatter1 stringFromDate:toDate]; printf("\n toDateString: %s",[toDateString UTF8String]); [dateFormatter1 release]; Thank you, Madan Mohan.

  • Can't find applicationSupportDirectory?

    - by Frost Li
There is always a pre-written function at AppDelegate: (NSString *)applicationSupportDirectory { NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSApplicationSupportDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *basePath = ([paths count] > 0) ? [paths objectAtIndex:0] : NSTemporaryDirectory(); return [basePath stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"SyncFile"]; } However, I can't call this method outside this class: id _appDelegate = (SyncFile_AppDelegate *)[[NSApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; NSLog(@"%@", [_appDelegate applicationSupportDirectory]); The compiler warned me that it can't find method applicationSupportDirectory... Does anyone know what's wrong with my code? Thank you very much!

  • iOS App with OCMaps crashes when using the phone in chinese Language

    - by Pedro Morte Rolo
I've been given the task of doing maintenance to a iOS application that uses OCMapView. I have just realized that when using the application in chinese language, it blows up when the selector doClustering is invoked on a OCMapView instance. This is for me a very puzzling behaviour, because I thought that regardless of the environment language, the OCMapView class should allways have the same methods. Am I wrong? Do you have any recomentations about how to find a solution to this problem? Thank you, Pedro

  • Problem creating checklist (similar to TouchCells sample code) app for iPhone. Random cells get chec

    - by Jonah
I've been having a problem creating a checklist in the style of the TouchCells example from the Apple sample code. Basically, it is a table that allows multiple selection of its items and gives each selected item a check mark. The problem I'm having is that when I select an item and then scroll down the screen, another item (off the screen) will randomly be selected. It seems that it is usually the next cell to be loaded on the screen. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong so I tested it with Apple's TouchCells code. In their program though, they only have 6 cells and there is no room to scroll. So, I duplicated some of the items from the plist file to make more cells and... the same problem pops up. If you select a cell and then scroll, another cell will randomly be selected. Update I recently tried the iPhone Dev Cookbook sample code named "Checks" and... you guessed it, the same problem. Here's the link: http://code.google.com/p/cookbooksamples/downloads/list This is driving me nuts. Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong? Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks! Also, does anyone know of any sample code that shows how to do this?

  • Analyzing bitmaps produced by NSAffineTransform and CILineOverlay filters

    - by Adam
I am trying to manipulate an image using a chain of CIFilters, and then examine each byte of the resulting image (bitmap). Long term, I do not need to display the resulting image (bitmap) -- I just need to "analyze" it in memory. But near-term I am displaying it on screen, to help with debugging. I have some "bitmap examination" code that works as expected when examining the NSImage (bitmap representation) I use as my input (loaded from a JPG file into an NSImage). And it SOMETIMES works as expected when I use it on the outputBitmap produced by the code below. More specifically, when I use an NSAffineTransform filter to create outputBitmap, then outputBitmap contains the data I would expect. But if I use a CILineOverlay filter to create the outputBitmap, none of the bytes in the bitmap have any data in them. I believe both of these filters are working as expected, because when I display their results on screen (via outputImageView), they look "correct." Yet when I examine the outputBitmaps, the one created from the CILineOverlay filter is "empty" while the one created from NSAffineTransfer contains data. Furthermore, if I chain the two filters together, the final resulting bitmap only seems to contain data if I run the AffineTransform last. Seems very strange, to me??? My understanding (from reading the CI programming guide) is that the CIImage should be considered an "image recipe" rather than an actual image, because the image isn't actually created until the image is "drawn." Given that, it would make sense that the CIimage bitmap doesn't have data -- but I don't understand why it has data after I run the NSAffineTransform but doesn't have data after running the CILineOverlay transform? Basically, I am trying to determine if creating the NSCIImageRep (ir in the code below) from the CIImage (myResult) is equivalent to "drawing" the CIImage -- in other words if that should force the bitmap to be populated? If someone knows the answer to this please let me know -- it will save me a few hours of trial and error experimenting! Finally, if the answer is "you must draw to a graphics context" ... then I have another question: would I need to do something along the lines of what is described in the Quartz 2D Programming Guide: Graphics Contexts, listing 2-7 and 2-8: drawing to a bitmap graphics context? That is the path down which I am about to head ... but it seems like a lot of code just to force the bitmap data to be dumped into an array where I can get at it. So if there is an easier or better way please let me know. I just want to take the data (that should be) in myResult and put it into a bitmap array where I can access it at the byte level. And since I already have code that works with an NSBitmapImageRep, unless doing it that way is a bad idea for some reason that is not readily apparent to me, then I would prefer to "convert" myResult into an NSBitmapImageRep. CIImage * myResult = [transform valueForKey:@"outputImage"]; NSImage *outputImage; NSCIImageRep *ir = [NSCIImageRep alloc]; ir = [NSCIImageRep imageRepWithCIImage:myResult]; outputImage = [[[NSImage alloc] initWithSize: NSMakeSize(inputImage.size.width, inputImage.size.height)] autorelease]; [outputImage addRepresentation:ir]; [outputImageView setImage: outputImage]; NSBitmapImageRep *outputBitmap = [[NSBitmapImageRep alloc] initWithCIImage: myResult]; Thanks, Adam

  • UICollectionViewController nested in a normal UIViewController

    - by patrickS
I have added a UICollectionView into a normal ViewController (MainViewController), and than created a UICollectionViewController Subclass (CollectionViewController) in the ViewController and connected the UICollectionView outlet with the CollectionViewController object _collectionViewController = [[CollectionViewController alloc] initWithCollectionViewLayout:_collectionView.collectionViewLayout]; _collectionView.dataSource = _collectionViewController; _collectionView.delegate = _collectionViewController; In the CollectionViewController I have setup an simple NSArray object and I show this one. This works as expected. But If I try to access the collectionview from the CollectionViewController via self.collectionview I am not able to access this one. I dont know what I have to do, to also connect the collectionview. I have build a sample ios-app it is available at: https://github.com/patricks/uicollectionview-problem The method - (void)outputSelectedCell in the UICollectionViewController always shows, that there is nothing selected… I hope you understand the problem.

  • Why I add the CGPoint in the NSMultable Array?

    - by Tattat
I want to store my CGPoint to the NSMultable Array, so , I have method like this: [self.points addObject:CGPointMake(x, y)]; But I got the error, it said that : Incompatible type for argument 1 of "addObject". So, I check out the API, (void)addObject:(id)anObject anObject The object to add to the end of the receiver's content. This value must not be nil. So, I think the "CGPointMake" can make a Object, but it can't be assigned. What happens?

  • How to limit NSTextField text length and keep it always upper case?

    - by carlosb
Need to have an NSTextField with a text limit of 4 characters maximum and show always in upper case but can't figure out a good way of achieving that. I've tried to do it through a binding with a validation method but the validation only gets called when the control loses first responder and that's no good. Temporarly I made it work by observing the notification NSControlTextDidChangeNotification on the text field and having it call the method: - (void)textDidChange:(NSNotification*)notification { NSTextField* textField = [notification object]; NSString* value = [textField stringValue]; if ([value length] > 4) { [textField setStringValue:[[value uppercaseString] substringWithRange:NSMakeRange(0, 4)]]; } else { [textField setStringValue:[value uppercaseString]]; } } But this surely isn't the best way of doing it. Any better suggestion?
