  • JQuery duplicate alerts on update? why?

  • Create Out-Of-Process COM in C#/.Net ?

    Hi, I need to create an out-of-process COM server (.exe) in C# that will be accessed by multiple other processes on the same box. The component has to be a single process because it will cache the information it provides to its consumers in memory. Note: the processes that will access my COM Server are mostly Matlab processes, thus the necessity for a COM interface. I have seen threads regarding creating in-process COM components in .Net on stack overflow (Create COM ...) and on the web, but am having a hard time to find a way to create out-of-process components with .Net. How is this achievable? Any suggested references? Thanks.

  • Encoding license file for privacy

    Hi, We're using XML Digital Signatures for signing and verifying our license keys. The signing works fine and has been running smoothly. The XML license file contains a few (plaintext) details about the license, along with a binary signature. We'd like to encode (I don't say encrypt) those plaintext details (license duration, user name, etc, etc.) so they're not immediately visible to prying eyes. Is there a standard (eg, base 64 or something else) that people use in this situation? It doesn't need to be secure or particularly clever, just enough to conceal the information in Notepad.   • Scolling list with jQuery

    My javascript is not up to scratch at the moment and I am stumped with this! I need to create an animated list with javascript like this one - http://www.fiveminuteargument.com/blog/scrolling-list. What I want is to take a list like so <ul> <li>Item 1</li> <li>Item 2</li> <li>Item 3</li> <li>Item 4</li> <li>Item 5</li> <li>Item 6</li> </ul> And display two at once, then display them in a loop, 2 at a time. Even pseudo code would help to get me started.

  • Creating Visual Studio projects that only contain static files

    Have you ever wanted to create a Visual Studio project that only contained static files and didn’t contain any code? While working on ASP.NET MVC we had a need for exactly this type of project. Most of the projects in the ASP.NET MVC solution contain code, such as managed code (C#), unit test libraries (C#), and Script# code for generating our JavaScript code. However, one of the projects, MvcFuturesFiles, contains no code at all. It only contains static files that get copied to the build output folder: As you may well know, adding static files to an existing Visual Studio project is easy. Just add the file to the project and in the property grid set its Build Action to “Content” and the Copy to Output Directory to “Copy if newer.” This works great if you have just a few static files that go along with other code that gets compiled into an executable (EXE, DLL, etc.). But this solution does not work well if the projects only contains static files and has no compiled code. If you create a new project in Visual Studio and add static files to it you’ll still get an EXE or DLL copied to the output folder, despite not having any actual code. We wanted to avoid having a teeny little DLL generated in the output folder. In ASP.NET MVC 2 we came up with a simple solution to this problem. We started out with a regular C# Class Library project but then edited the project file to alter how it gets built. The critical part to get this to work is to define the MSBuild targets for Build, Clean, and Rebuild to perform custom tasks instead of running the compiler. The Build, Clean, and Rebuild targets are the three main targets that Visual Studio requires in every project so that the normal UI functions properly. If they are not defined then running certain commands in Visual Studio’s Build menu will cause errors.   • IIS and Apache on the same machine?

    I have a Windows 2003 Server running IIS (due to an ASP Site needing to be hosted). I wanted to add some non ASP sites (HTML, PHP and MySQL) so I was thinking I could just run apache on 8080. What confuses me a bit is if someone hits DomiainA.com, IIS intercepts it and forwards it to DomainA.com:8080 where apache is running. I could do this by putting a server side javascript re-direct in the IIS www-root for the domain. What else can I do that might be more proper?

    I have an old desktop sitting around I wanted to try making a server out of, but I don't want to pay to register a Domain Name. Is there a way I can host a website without a domain name, or to register a domain name for free? If I can't host a web page without a domain name, can I just access the files on the server through the internet some how without a domain name? Thanks for any insight!

  • Opening a streaming connection to an HTTP server on iPhone/Cocoa environment?

    I've been using NSURLConnection to do a HTTP post to establish the connection. I've also implemented the didReceiveData delegagate to process incoming bytes as they become available. As incoming data comes in via didReceiveData, I add the NSData to a data buffer and try parsing the bytesteam if enough data has come in to complete a message segment. I'm having a hard time managing the data buffer (NSMutableData object) to remove bytes that have been parsed to structs. Was curious if there's an easier way. Thanks

  • C++ DLLs newer version

    All, I have a C++ COM DLL written using Visual Studio. All the interfaces have GUIDs in idl and rgs files. We want to create a new DLL with brand new GUIDs as we want it to co-exist on the same machine with the old one but with different logic. The number of GUIDs is more than 200. Is there a tool that finds the GUIDs and replaces them ? I noticed for every GUID in idl file there are 3 same ones in the rgs files. I am not really into C++ COM but I have to get this done : Rgds, MK

  • Allow users to pull temporary data then delete table?

    I don't know the best way to title this question but am trying to accomplish the following goal: When a client logs into their profile, they are presented with a link to download data from an existing database in CSV format. The process works, however, I would like for this data to be 'fresh' each time they click the link so my plan was - once a user has clicked the link and downloaded the CSV file, the database table would 'erase' all of its data and start fresh (be empty) until the next set of data populated it.   • Is it possible to use CASE with IN?

    I'm trying to construct a T-SQL statement with a WHERE clause determined by an input parameter. Something like: SELECT * FROM table WHERE id IN CASE WHEN @param THEN (1,2,4,5,8) ELSE (9,7,3) END I've tried all combination of moving the IN, CASE etc around that I can think of. Is this (or something like it) possible?

  • Can I copy a cross compiler tool chain between systems (I did before)?

    I tested fairly extensively with Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 2 Server in a VM, and was able to simply copy (read tar x) a cross compiled tool chain from an Ubuntu 8.10 VM. I created the tar myself, which is essentially a lot of stuff in \usr\local. Now that I've got a bare metal installation of Ubuntu 10.04 proper, the copy isn't working. In particularly, I'm getting the error: $ arm-linux-gcc -bash: /usr/local/bin/arm-linux-gcc: No such file or directory I've got the systems side by side in SSH windows ... any suggestions?

  • What does the "=>" mean?

    Hey SO, I've got a pretty noob question for ya. I keep seeing this syntax: <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.Email) %> ...and I have no idea what the = means. I thought it was syntax for linq2sql or ado.net entity framework but I'm just using straight ado.net. I don't understand why the VWD used that syntax when generating the Create form. What does = mean?

  • A feeling that I'm not that good developer

    Hi, Im having a strange feeling, but let me first introduce myself as a software developer. I started to program when I was still a kid, I had about 10 or 11 years. I really enjoy my work and never get bored from it. It's amazing how somebody could be paid for what he really likes to do and would be doing it anyway even for free. WHen I first started to program, I was feeling proud of what I was doing, each application I built was for me a success and after 2-3 year I had a feeling that I'm a coding guru. It was a nice feeling ;-) But the more I was in the field, the more types of software I started to develop I was starting to have a feeling that I'm completely wrong in that I'm guru. I felt that I'm not even a mediocre developer. Each new field I start to work on is giving me this feeling. Like when I once developed a device driver for a client, I saw how much I need to learn about device drivers. When I developed a video filter for an application, I saw how much do I still need to learn about DirectShow, Color Spaces, and all the theory behind that. The worst thing was when I started to learn algorithms. It was several years ago. I knew then the basic structures and algorithms like the sorting, some types of trees, some hashtables, strings etc.. and when I really wanted to learn a group of structures I learned about 5-6 new types and saw that in fact even this small group has several hundred subtypes of structures. It's depressing how little time people have in their lives to learn all this stuff. I'm now a software developer with about 10 years of experience and I still feel that I'm not a proficient developer when I think about things that others do in the industry. Is this normal what I'm experiencing or is it a sign of a destructive excessive ambition? Thanks in advance for any comments.

  • Return the Column Name for row with last non-null value "Ms Access 2007"

    I have a Table, which contains a list of league players. Each season, we record their Points per Dart. Their total PPD for that season is stored in other tables and extracted through other queries, which in turn are imported to the master table "Player History" at the end of the season for use as historical data. The current query retrieves each players PPD for each season they played, when they played last, and how many seasons played. The code for Last season Played has become too long and unstable to use. it was originally created, and split into two separate columns because a single SQL was to long. (LSP1) and LSP2) which work, but as I add seasons, Access does not like the length of code. In short, i need to find a more simple code that will look at each row, and look in that row for the last non null cell and report which column that last non null value is in. So if a player played seasons 30 & 31, but did not play 32..but did play 33, the Column with the code should be titled Last Season Played, and for that Player, it would state "33" in that cell, indicating that this player last played season "33" I will provide both tables and the query.. Please help

  • Rhino ServiceBus: Sagas with multiple messages

    I have a saga that can handle multiple messages like so: public class OrderSaga : ISaga<Order> , InitiatedBy<StartOrderSaga> , Orchestrates<CancelOrder> , Orchestrates<PaymentForOrderReceived> , Orchestrates<CheckOrderWasPaid> , Orchestrates<OrderAbandoned> , Orchestrates<CheckOrderHasBeenShipped> , Orchestrates<OrderShipped> , Orchestrates<CheckOrderHasDelayDuringShipment> , Orchestrates<OrderArrivedAtDestination> , Orchestrates<OrderCompleted> {...} but only Orchestrates<CancelOrder seems to be picked up. So I suppose (I did not find the line, but am under a strong impression this is so), that only the first Orchestrates is registered. Probably this is by design. From what I imagined a saga to be, it seems only logical that it receives many different messages, but I might be wrong. I might be wrong with my whole assumption, too :) How am I supposed to handle this? Are Sagas supposed to only handle one (in my case) a ChangeStateMessage<State or should I wire the other ConsumerOfs/Orchestrates by hand?

  • Creating Thumbnails in Build Phase of iPhone App Xcode project?

    Hey All, I have a group of png files in my bundle; but I also want smaller versions of them to be used at my app as well. Right now I am just resizing them all manually and putting them in the bundle as well: so i might have Graphic_1.png and Graphic_1-thumbnail.png. Instead, is there anyway to do something like: at build time, take all my png assets and create 1/4 scale versions of them, and save them into the bundle as well, with the -thumbnail in the filename as above?   • How to find a coding buddy

    I was reading Jeff Atwood's blog and he mentioned that he was suffering from code-paralysis (he called it analysis paralysis, but I feel like it's also code paralysis) when he didn't have a code buddy: http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/ Unfortunately I think that Jeff has set the bar a bit high, because he only works with developers who are really amazing. The only reason really amazing developers would work with me is if I was really amazing too, but sometimes I don't feel that amazing... the only thing I feel is that if I had a coding buddy I could be amazing :). I'm working on a project and I don't have many friends that are programmers, let alone friends that have time to spend on extracurricular activities. Jeff seems to have been able to find like-minded people that are actually willing to work together. I feel like I'm in a code-paralysis stage too and I need some coding buddies, where would I find some? How would I approach them?

    I have a regex used to validate dates: ^(((0[1-9]|[12]\d|3[01])\/(0[13578]|1[02])\/((19|[2-9]\d)\d{2}))|((0[1-9]|[12]\d|30)\/(0[13456789]|1[012])\/((19|[2-9]\d)\d{2}))|((0[1-9]|1\d|2[0-8])\/02\/((19|[2-9]\d)\d{2}))|(29\/02\/((1[6-9]|[2-9]\d)(0[48]|[2468][048]|[13579][26])|((16|[2468][048]|[3579][26])00))))$ Works really well, but I am using it all over the place with asp.net regex validators and I want to minimize it so I can reduce page size. It works with dd/mm/yyyy format and handles leap years. I'm looking for a more concise regex statement.
