  • GWB | 30 in 60 Update &ndash; Enrique is almost there!

    We are very close to having our first blogger to reach 30 posts, Enrique Lima.  Stuart Brierley is over the hump with 16 posts and Dave Campbell and Eric Nelson are definitely in the running.  If you don’t know what I am talking about, we are running a contest for our bloggers.  Anyone who blogs on Geekswithblogs who creates 30 posts from May 15th to July 13th will receive a custom Geekswithblogs.net t-shirt with their URL on the back.  This could be their Geekswithblogs.net address or their custom domain.  It is definitely not too late to get started and with TechEd or WWDC right around the corner, there is definitely a lot to talk about.   • SSH + MysqlDump Remote Backup Script

    I'm trying to issue a remote mysqldump command, redirect stdout to a dmp file, then tar that up. I'm a bit confused as to how to do the redirection bits over ssh: i.e. ssh [email protected] mysqldump $dbname -u admin -p > dbdump.dmp && tar cvzf dbdump.tar.gz dbdump.dmp Issues: 1) I'm not providing the password because I want it to prompt me. Will an ssh remote command deal with this? 2) What's the deal with the syntax? Do I want to use quotations, or don't I? What happens with the redirects and pipes? Do those have to be escaped or formatted in some special fashion.

  • IE I-Frame 1px border to the right

    Please look at http://www.mymix947.com In the header i have a 1px border to the right of the banner. You will see a black line dividing the banner and listen live button. This is an i-frame and I can't seem to eliminate the line. This seems to only happen with Windows 7 - IE Browser 8.0.7 When my browser is full screen - i dont see it, but if i shrink the browser slightly - the line is there. Any tips would be great! Thanks!

  • MySQL, delete and index hint

    I have to delete about 10K rows from a table that has more than 100 million rows based on some criteria. When I execute the query, it takes about 5 minutes. I ran an explain plan (the delete query converted to select * since MySQL does not support explain delete) and found that MySQL uses the wrong index. My question is: is there any way to tell MySQL which index to use during delete? If not, what ca I do? Select to temp table then delete from temp table? Thank you!

  • UIScrollView + UIWebView = NO scrollsToTop

    It looks like a problem which could have simple solution, but I haven't found anything what could lead the way to it. I'm using UIWebView inside of UIScrollView and tapping on statusBar (to scroll content to top) is not working. I've made simple test application to see if it's really UIWebViews fault. And it really is. // scrolls to top on status bar tap UIScrollView *sv = [[UIScrollView alloc] init]; sv.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 480); sv.contentSize = CGSizeMake(320, 1200); [self.view addSubview:sv]; // doesn't scroll UIScrollView *sv = [[UIScrollView alloc] init]; sv.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 480); sv.contentSize = CGSizeMake(320, 1200); UIWebView *wv = [[UIWebView alloc] init]; wv.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 100); [sv addSubview:wv]; [self.view addSubview:sv]; So, I think maybe there's something I could disable to make UIWebView not to mess with scrollToTop? Or some kind of workaround also would be nice. Any ideas?

    hi, im a bit confused on this and i dont know how to solve this question that i have been asked, id be grateful if you could assist me on this question, maybe try to tell me what needs to be done, and how. the question is: Write a method called countChars which takes an InputStream as a parameter, reads the stream and returns the number of characters it contains as an int. Any IOExceptions which might occur in the method should be passed back to the method's caller.     I'm building an app which will allow a user to scan the barcode on a 'shelf', 'box' or 'product' which will then bring up that particular item or all the associated items. As these are all separate models with their own ID's, I need a global ID table. I was thinking of a polymorphic table called 'barcodes' barcodes id barcode_number barcodable Is there an easy way to do this? Or is polymorphic the best way?
