  • How to modify CSS when requirements change?

    - by DaveDev
Suppose I'm given the requiremnt to geneate a few pages that have tables on them. The original requirement is for all tables to be 500px. I'd write my CSS as follows: table { width: 500px; } That will apply accross the board for all tables. Now, what if they change the requirment so that some tables are 600px. What's the best way to modify the CSS? Should I give the tables classes so table.SizeOne { width: 500px; } table.SizeTwo { width: 600px; } Or is there a better way for me to deal with changes like this?

  • UITableViewCell repeating problem

    - by cannyboy
I have a UItableview with cells. Some cells have uilabels and some have uibuttons. The UIbuttons are created whenever the first character in an array is "^". However, the uibuttons repeat when i scroll down (appearing over the uilabel).. and then multiply over the uilabels when I scroll up. Any clues why? My voluminous code is below: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { const NSInteger LABEL_TAG = 1001; UILabel *label; UIButton *linkButton; //NSString *linkString; static NSString *CellIdentifier; UITableViewCell *cell; CellIdentifier = @"TableCell"; cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; label = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero]; [cell.contentView addSubview:label]; [label setLineBreakMode:UILineBreakModeWordWrap]; [label setMinimumFontSize:FONT_SIZE]; [label setNumberOfLines:0]; //[label setBackgroundColor:[UIColor redColor]]; [label setTag:LABEL_TAG]; NSString *firstChar = [[paragraphs objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] substringToIndex:1]; NSLog(@"firstChar %@", firstChar); NSLog(@"before comparison"); if ([firstChar isEqualToString:@"^"]) { // not called NSLog(@"BUTTON"); //[label setFont:[UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:FONT_SIZE]]; linkButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; linkButton.frame = CGRectMake(CELL_CONTENT_MARGIN, CELL_CONTENT_MARGIN, 280, 30); [cell.contentView addSubview:linkButton]; NSString *myString = [paragraphs objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; NSArray *myArray = [myString componentsSeparatedByCharactersInSet:[NSCharacterSet characterSetWithCharactersInString:@"*"]]; • Open a file with su/sudo inside Emacs

    - by Chris Conway
Suppose I want to open a file in an existing Emacs session using su or sudo, without dropping down to a shell and doing sudoedit or sudo emacs. One way to do this is (require 'tramp) C-c C-f /sudo::/path/to/file but this requires an expensive round-trip through SSH. Is there a more direct way? [EDIT] @JBB is right. I want to be able to invoke su/sudo to save as well as open. It would be OK (but not ideal) to re-authorize when saving. What I'm looking for is variations of find-file and save-buffer that can be "piped" through su/sudo.

  • Adding h.264 <video> support to XULRunner

    - by oskar
Like Firefox, XULRunner only ships with support for ogg (and soon, webm) in the HTML5 video tag. Is there a relatively simple way to add h.264 support to it for all three major platforms? Perhaps a compilation flag, or a plugin I can add to it?

  • iPhone - Drawing 2D Shapes

    - by Hawdon
Hi guys! I have an array of 2D points which make an irregular polygon. What I want to do is draw the borders of it and then fill it with a color. I am using Cocos2d to code the game around, but I have not found a fill function in Cocos2d, only the ccDrawLine and such. Is there a simple way to draw filled shapes in Cocos2? I have also noted that Core Graphics would work beautifully for this purpose, but I am not able to integrate it with Cocos2d. I put this in to the draw function of my CCLayer: CGContextRef ctx = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGContextClearRect(ctx, [[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]); And every time I run it i get this error: <Error>: CGContextClearRect: invalid context I really need to get this working... Any ideas?

  • Form with list of checkboxes (best practices)

    - by boris callens
I have a view that allows the user to make a selection from an IEnumerable. The way I'm doing it now is to give each checkbox the id of the item and work with the form collection at the controller's side. I seem to remember there to be a better way but can't remember how anymore. Are there any better practices?

  • Term for releasing software with time dependant portions still unfinished.

    - by Jeremy French
I remember a while a go on a SO podcast Jeff was talking about the bounty system and he said that they released the bounty offering code before the bounty awarding code was written as the code would not be needed for a couple of weeks. Is there a standard term for this? Agile can work in this way but it doesn’t have to. I am thinking of suggesting it to a client for something and would like to use the correct terminology along with any information backing it up as a method. Essentially the method is to release code with some functionality incomplete as the time until the incomplete functionality is needed is less that the time it will take to develop.

  • Cross-platform general purpose C++ RPC library

    - by iUm
Here's the task: Imagine, we have an applications and a plug-in for it (dynamic library). Interface between the application and the plug-in is completely defined. Now I need to run the application and the plug-in on different computers. I wrote a stub for the plug-in on a computer where the real applications is running. And the application loads it and calls its functions like if it were a native plug-in. On the other computer there's a stub instead of the real application, which loads the native plug-in. Now I need to organize RPCs between my stubs over the network, regardless the very transport. Usually, it's not difficult. But there're some restrictions: Application-plug-in interaction can be reenterable (e.g. application calls f1() from plug-in, in f1() plug-in calls g1() from application, in g1() application calls f2() from plug-in and so on...) Any such reenteration should be executed exactly by the same thread, which started the sequence Where can I find a cross-platform C++ RPC library with such features?

  • is it correct to unset the session variable for a particular index as the vay whole session is made

    - by OM The Eternity
is it correct to unset the session variable for a particular index as the vay whole session is made unset in PHP? I know this works: unset($_SESSION['bannersize']) But does this works ? : unset($_SESSION['bannersize'][3]) or is there any other way to unset any particular desired index of the session and then again rearrange the values inside it to remove the empty index..?

  • IPhone memory problems...

    - by jAmi
Hi, I am working on an App that is already been made but Memory Management was not considered in the development stages. So what can I do to keep the App memory usage low as soon as I get a memory warning? Is there any general tool or some piece of code that I can use to release any unused memory?
