  • Force Response to Download File(s) to Desktop with Ruby?

    I was thinking about making a little crop/resize batch processor online, and wanted to know if there was a way for me to do the following: upload image and specify dimensions click "process" and remote app resizes image image downloads automatically locally to wherever it was I uploaded it (say from my desktop), but with a new name (based on the time for example). This would make it so I could host a free image processor that never stored any data other than tempfiles. Is that possible? Something like Rails' send_file method, but I'm using Sinatra and am looking for something in pure ruby. What's the basic concept behind this? What if I wanted to do this for multiple files? Åssuming I can get multiple files uploaded no problem, how can I download all of them automatically?

    I have a currency converter application for iphone which uses web service. The web service is returning result in the following format:- <Date>4/5/2010</Date> <Time>7:18:09 AM</Time> <Amount>20</Amount> <ExchangeRate>44.7336419443466</ExchangeRate> <Result>894.672839</Result> I'm storing the whole xml file in an NSString variable called theXML. I want to show the value inside the result tag.How can i read the data from the xml file or from the string.. Thanks in advance..

  • Debugging Drupal 6

    OK, I've read and attempted all of the tutorials I can find on being able to debug a locally installed Drupal 6 instance. I'm on Windows, 32-bit. I have access to Eclipse (obviously) as well as Visual Studio 2005/2008. I've yet to be able to get any of the Eclipse options (XDebug, Zend, etc.) working to be able to step through code, inspect variables, etc. I've heard good things about VS.PHP, but haven't committed to the $100 or whatever it is. Can some of your PHP/Drupal gurus out there tell me the best, simplest, most reliable way to debug Drupal and PHP on the Windows platform?

Do I really need to go the full fledged way creating a class MemThread(threading.Thread) and overwriting __init__ and __run__?

  • How to change a vairable type in C#?

    I wanted to use something like this: if(x==5) { var mydb= ........ ; } else { var mydb = ........ ; } but it didn't work because I can't declare a variable inside if statement. So I tried to do this: var mydb; if (x==5) { mydb= ............. ; } else { mydb=.............; } but id didn't work either because I had to initialize the variable (mydb). So the question is: I don't necessarily know the type of the variable, can I declare it anyway and then change the type inside the if statement?

    Hi, I recently switched to Emacs and still finding my way through it. I code in C++ and was wondering what tools out there extend Emacs to support code browsing (finding a symbol etc), refactoring and code completion. I have heard of: cedet etags cscope But I'm so confused about what I need. Some places say that cedet provides all of the functionality but other places say that I need to invoke etags for cedet to work properly. Can someone clear this up for me? Do I need all of these tools?

  • How to make this into a self contained jQuery plugin? Works inline.

    Hi, I have been trying to make this to be a little jQuery plugin that I can reuse in the future without having to write the following into my actions.js file in full. This works when loaded in the same file where I set the height using my variable tallest. var tallest = null; $('.slideshow img').each(function(index) { if ($(this).height() >= tallest ) { tallest = $(this).height(); } }); $('.slideshow').height(tallest); This works and will cycle through all the items, then set the value of tallest to the greatest height found. The following however does not work: This would be the plugin, loaded from its own file (before the actions.js file that contains the parts using this): (function($){ $.fn.extend({ tallest: function() { var tallest = null; return this.each(function() { if ($(this).height() >= tallest ) { tallest = $(this).height(); } }); } }); })(jQuery); Once loaded I am trying to use it as follows: $('.slideshow img').tallest(); $('.slideshow').height(tallest); However the above 2 lines return an error of 'tallest is undefined'. How can I make this work? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thinking about this even more the perfect usage of this would be as follows: $('.container').height(tallest('.container item')); But I wouldn't even know where to begin to get this to work in the manner that you pass the object to be measured into the function by adding it into the brackets of the function name..   • Is there any way to use GUIDs in django?

    I have a couple of tables that are joined by GUIDs in SQL Server. Now, I've found a few custom fields to add support for GUIDs in django, but I tend to shy away from using code in blog posts if at all possible. I'm not going to do anything with the GUID other than join on it and maybe assign a GUID on new entries (although this is optional). Is there any way to allow this using django's built-in types? Like can I use some kind of char field or binary field and "trick" django into joining using it? If it's any help, I'm using django-pyodbc.

But with FireFox it doesn't. With FireFox the src attribute remains "Empty.aspx" when the page is loaded but when i refresh the page i.e. in post back event the scr attribute changes to "page.aspx?id=a.id" and iframe gets loaded properly.     Is there any way to automate a opening files with open dialog box on Mac OS? The application asks user to open files with the standard open dialog box. But I need open files automatically. The idea is to write script or a small application which will click the button in the target application to open dialog box and then somehow select files which I needed.   • How a servlet can get the absolute path to a file outside of the servlet?

    We have been using System.getProperties("user.dir") to get the location of a properties file. Now that it has been deployed on Tomcat(via servlet), the System call is giving the location as tomcat and not at the location at where the properties file exist. How can we call the the properties file dynamically? Given: Tomcat is not the only way the app will be deployed We have no control on where the app may be placed. Relative paths will not work as that Vista is being used and Vista breaks relative paths. This must work on all OS, including(but not limited to) Linux, XP and Vista. EDIT I implied this, but in case I was not clear enough, I have no way of knowing the path String.

    Hi, I'm trying to extract a string from another using regex. I'm using the POSIX regex functions (regcomp, regexec ...), and I fail at capturing a group ... For instance, let the pattern be something as simple as "MAIL FROM:<(.*)>" (with REG_EXTENDED cflags) I want to capture everything between '<' and '' My problem is that regmatch_t gives me the boundaries of the whole pattern (MAIL FROM:<...) instead of just what's between the parenthesis ... What am I missing ?   • Can IMAPI2 burn files with the size > 4Gb?

    IMAPI2 interface IFileSystem uses COM IStream interfaces to represent file data. There is AddTree method that adds specified directory contents to IFileSystem. So AddTree must create IStream's in the process. I wonder what implementation of IStream it uses? If it uses the standard OLE implementation than we have a nasty problem because OLE streams doesn't support files bigger than 4Gb. Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

  • Google's OpenID identifier is different depending on the "consumer" domain name. How to avoid potent

    I'm currently testing an OpenID implementation, and I'm noticing that Google sends a different identifier for different consuming host name / domain name, even for the same user. For example, Google sends a different identifier when the requesting site is localhost, compared to the identifier they send when the requesting site is 127.0.0.1 for the same user. Note: I haven't actually tested this using public domain names, but I can't see why the behavior would be any different. My concern with Google's behavior is that if we ever choose to change our website domain name in the future, then users will no longer be able to log in to the website using Google's OpenId as the identity provider. This seems to be a big problem. Am I missing something, or are all OpenID consuming sites faced with this potential problem? I've also tested this with MyOpenId, but the identifier that MyOpenId creates is fixed, so this wouldn't be a problem with them. Thanks.
