  • How can I spot subtle Lisp syntax mistakes?

    I'm a newbie playing around with Lisp (actually, Emacs Lisp). It's a lot of fun, except when I seem to run into the same syntax mistakes again and again. For instance, here's something I've encountered several times. I have some cond form, like (cond ((foo bar) (qux quux)) ((or corge (grault warg)) (fred) (t xyzzy))) and the default clause, which returns xyzzy, is never carried out, because it's actually nested inside the previous clause: (cond ((foo bar) (qux quux)) ((or corge (grault warg)) (fred)) (t xyzzy)) It's difficult for me to see such errors when the difference in indentation is only one space. Does this get easier with time? I also have problems when there's a large distance between the (mal-)indented line and the line it should be indented against. let forms with a lot of complex bindings, for example, or an unless form with a long conditional: (defun test () (unless (foo bar (qux quux) (or corge (grault warg) (fred)))) xyzzy) It turns out xyzzy was never inside the unless form at all: (defun test () (unless (foo bar (qux quux) (or corge (grault warg) (fred))) xyzzy)) I auto-indent habitually and use parenthesis highlighting to avoid counting parentheses. For the most part it works like a breeze, but occasionally, I discover my syntax mistakes only by debugging. What can I do?

I don't know the format of this mutex so I wondered if there is a way to get a list of all non-abandoned mutex, open the program, get a new list and see if I can find the mutex by removing all duplicate entries. Is there a way to get this list?

  • iPad doesn't trigger resize event going from vertical to horizontal?

    Has anyone noticed this behavior? I'm trying to write a script that will trigger upon a resize. It works fine on normal browsers, works fine on iPhone, but on iPad, will only trigger going from horizontal to vertical viewport, not vice versa.   • How to use Pisa on Google App Engine to generate PDF from HTML\CSS

    I'm developing a simple GAE application that crawl some data from a given site and present it formatted in html\css. What i would like to do now is to offer the "Export to PDF feature" trasforming the formatted html\css to PDF. I've imported Reportlab Toolkit and it works good but it's not what i need since it forces me to create PDF manually like: pcanvas.drawString(10, 10, 'This is the title Blah blah blah') What i really need is a library like PISA that trasform Html\Css to PDF. Anyone has managed to succesfully intregrate and use PISA on Google App Engine? Any hints?

  • In Mail.app, move the reply to the original email's folder?

    As many, I find it handy to have emails organized by folders, but I don't like the fact that sent mails are in a separate folder. My idea would be that when I answer to an email that is already in a folder, the answer is placed automatically in that same folder. Is there a script or a plugin to do this in Mail.app?     I need to add a span tag to the title of an actionlink to output the following html <li><a href="#" id="topmenu1" accesskey="1" title=""><span>Homepage</span></a></li> I currently have <li><%= Html.ActionLink("Homepage", "Index", "Home", null, new { @id= "topmenu1" , @accesskey = "1", @title = "" } ) %></li> which gives me <li><a accesskey="1" href="/" id="topmenu1" title="">Homepage</a></li> without the span tag around Homepage I cannot use <span>Homepage</span> as the title variable of the actionlink, that doesn't work.

I put a WHERE thumbNo=1 which allows the function to get 1 record. You see, I do have at least 10 records - file paths listed in that table. I just wanna ask if there's a possible way to make my SQL statement something like this: SELECT thumb FROM album; while having this piece of code inserted in my function: BitmapImage bmi2 = new BitmapImage(new Uri(r["second record?"].ToString(), UriKind.Relative)); image2.Source = bmi2; //something like this BitmapImage bmi3 = new BitmapImage(new Uri(r["third record?"].ToString(), UriKind.Relative)); image3.Source = bmi3; //something like this and so on and so forth, without ending up creating 10 different functions for 10 records.     Hi, I am a Javascript/jQuery/Prototype newcomer and I have a page that has a Prototype function to get info from a database and put it into some input fields. This was made before I came to work on this site and now I've been asked to add a hide/show div function. I tried it in jQuery and there were clashes with the two frameworks, (as found in my previous question). My question now is, how would I go about building a show/hide function in Prototype? I think it will be easier to do it this way than to re-build the info grabber. The page I want to add this to is here. (the green "ny kunde" button should show the div directly below it newCustomer.   • Problem with input filter using doxygen 1.6.3 on windows XP

    I am trying to use doxygen to generate documentation for some matlab classes I have written. I am using the doxygen-matlab package, which includes a perl script to kludge matlab .m files into c++ style commented files, so that doxygen can read them. In my doxyfile, I have set (according to the instructions) FILTER_PATTERNS = *m=C:/doxygenMatlab/m2cpp.pl However, when the code runs, rather than running the script on the input files, it appears to just open the script using whatever the default windows setting for .pl is. IE, if I associate .pl with notepad, the script is opened by notepad once for each input file doxygen is trying to parse. If I associate .pl with perl.exe, the script runs and throws the no argument error Argument must contain filename -1 at C:\doxygenMatlab\m2cpp.pl line 4. The doxygen documentation says Doxygen will invoke the filter program by executing (via popen()) the command <filter> <input-file> So I am wondering if there is some problem with popen() and windows that I could fix.

  • Ideas in implenting the following entry form in ASP.NET MVC 2

    Hi guys, I have a very simple data entry form to implement. It looks like this: Obviously I have mocked out the actual requirements but the essence is similar. Entering a name and clicking history should bring up a pop up pointing to the url '/student/viewhistory/{name}' Name and age are required fields The sub form (in the mockup) with Class (a drop down, containing the numbers 1 - 10) and Subject (containing A - D, say) form a unique pair of values for which a score is required. So, selecting the Class and Subject, entering a score and clicking on Add should 'add' this record for the student. Then the user should be able to click Save (to persist the entry to the database) or be able to add further (class, subject, score) pairs to the entry. Any ideas how to smartly implement this? (I am coming from a DWH field... so thinking in a stateless manner is slightly foreign to me.) Any help is appreciated. I would imagine a smart use of jQuery would give a easy solution. The service layer is unaware of the clients that utilitize its methods. Is it fine to propagate raw http requests into the service layer? Or is it bad practice and a violation of the loose coupling principles? If it is, then what's a clean workaround?
