  • How do I mount my Android phone's filesystem on MacOS X? [closed]

    I'm running a fully rooted Nexus One with Android 2.1. I can see /data/data in DDMS, both the plugin and the tool -- but when I attach my phone, I still can't see the main drive. All I can see is the SD card. Using OSX, when I use Disk Utility, I can see the machine then see the SD Card. Is the problem that none of the tools I am using, except DDMS and ADB shell, know how to read that main Android drive? It's the same format as the qemu img, right? Again -- my goal is to mount the phone's root filesystem on my MacOS X host when connected via USB.

  • ConfirmButtonExtender using ModalPopupExtender fails in UpdatePanel after partial postback?

    Hello, We're trying to add a more fancy looking confirm messages than the regular JavaScript-confirm message to our delete-buttons in a list of comments on our site. To accomplish this we're trying to use the ConfirmButtonExtender together with a ModalPopupExtender. The comments are displayed using a ListView inside a UpdatePanel so that the paging of the ListView doesn't reload the entire page. Using the ConfirmButtonExtender works fine the first time the list is loaded but if we for instance go to the second page of comments using the pager, the ConfirmButtonExtender doesn't work anymore. The extender shows up when clicking Delete but when I click OK the page makes a full reload without triggering the delete event. Has anyone experienced the same problem and found a solution to it?     I get the following error message when I try the following: Dim XL As New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application XL.Visible = True XL.Workbooks.Open(XLTemplatePath) XL.SaveWorkspace(XLSaveReportPath) XL.Workbooks.Close() XL.Workbooks.Open(XLSaveReportPath) "Excel cannot open the file 'ContactReports.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file." What I would like to do is Open a excel file that is the XLTemplatePath and the either rename or save the file at the XLSaveReportPath and then use that renamed/saved file to fill the report out. I am using Visual Studio 2008 in VB.NET

  • Lazy Loading with Ninject

    I'm evaluating ninject2 but can't seem to figure out how to do lazy loading other than through the kernel. From what I can see that kind of defeats the purpose of using the [Inject] attributes. Is it possible to use the InjectAttribute but get lazy loading? I'd hate to force complete construction of an object graph every time I instantiated an object.

  • Rendering videos online using flash as3 and AIR, how does it work?

    I came accross this link that talks about the technology used with Animoto.com And it seems like they use AIR to export their flash animations to bitmaps that ffmpeg compil as a movie. http://labs.animoto.com/2009/06/07/presenting-filmstrip/ "It also takes time to render, so what you’re seeing isn’t realtime. It’s a series of Flash-generated frames that have been saved out using AIR and processed into an MP4 after the fact using a utility called FFmpeg." Does that mean AIR is installed on the server? How would that work to export a dynamicaly created aninmation into a series of pics that ffmpeg can then easily convert into a movie? David

  • CSS: series of floated elements without wrapping but rather scrolling horizontally

    I'm working on a album viewer. At the top I want a horizontal container of all the image thumbnails. Right now all the thumbnails are wrapped in a div with float:left. I'm trying to figure out how to keep these thumbnails from wrapping to the next line when there are too many, but rather stay all in one horizontal row and use the scrollbar.   • why use ssh tunneling for mysql server?

    i've got ubuntu server acting as my lamp server for my php websites. mysql server is installed and opened for the localhost port. i have read about how to tunnel through ssh to my mysql server. but i havent understood why this is better than opening the mysql server directly for the internet port. cause in either way, a hacker could brute force the port for passwords. either mysql port (3306) if opened for the public or ssh (22) if using tunneling. so why is it better to use ssh tunneling for mysql (and many other server applications)?

    I have a 3 year old MacBook Pro and lately I've been getting an error message when I try to download something to my machine, this is what it says: Download error /Users/scarletriley/Downloads/the name of document goes here- no spaces of course! could not be opened, because an unknown error occurred. Try saving to a disk first and then opening the file. What does this mean, and what should I do to fix it?

    I know this has been asked in a subtle different way before (Change the folder that Windows Explorer starts at), but I want to open the Windows Explorer on a folder that is on my desktop in Windows XP.   • jquery toggle+paginate+multiple instances

    Hi, I'm a jquery newbie - wanted to ask what might be the best strategy for achieving what I am after as I think it uses a mix of jquery functions : If list of items exceeds 5 items a 'more' link appears which when toggled will reveal the rest of the items. If items list is 5 or less no 'more' link is shown. Hide button also at bottom of long full revealed list. (perhaps this is toggle+pagination?) And then also that this can be used in multiple instances, as it is for multiple category menu's.(to be used in typical indexhibit websites structure like http://mikeyburton.com/) link 1 link 2 link 3 link 4 link 5 link 6 link 7 link 8 more Any help or links greatly appreciated.

    I have a requirement of making an svg viewer as activex.My questions are: How do I force ie to use my activex dll to load svg files instead of using Adobe dll?Whenever I drop a svg file on ie browser, it should open it using my custom activex dll and within my control I should get the path of svg file which is being dropped? How to deploy this activex dll or .msi(I can make a setup) in a client machine so that whenever svg file is opened if ie does not finds my activex dll, it should install the msi and load svg files using my dll? I explained him that you are trying to assign value to a pointer to whom memory is not allocated. But the way he reacted, it was like I am wrong.   • Asynchronous SQL Operations

    I've got a problem I'm not sure how best to solve. I have an application which updates a database in response to ad hoc requests. One request in particular is quite common. The request is an update that by itself is quite simple, but has some complex preconditions. For this request the business layer first requests a set of data from the data layer. The business logic layer evaluated the data from the database and parameters from the request, from this the action to be performed is determined, and the request's response message(s) are created. The business layer now executes the actual update command that is the purpose of the request. This last step is the problem, this command is dependent on the state of the database, which might have changed since the business logic ran. Locking down the data read in this operation across several round-trips to the database doesn't seem like a good idea either. Is there a 'best-practice' way to accomplish something like this? Thanks!

  • In Jetty, can NCSARequestLog be configured to auto-detect the time zone?

    It looks as though in 2003 or so NCSARequestLog would pick up the system time zone using TimeZone.getDefault().getID(), but in more recent versions it seems as though it's hard-coded to GMT, unless you override it in jetty.xml or programmatically. If true, this kind of annoying, since it means if you don't want GMT logging you have to edit jetty.xml for every installation (not to mention twice a year for daylight saving time). Is there a workaround that will let Jetty pick the time zone up from the system?

    Hi, I would like to know how to setup XAMPP Server with multiple PHP versions (eg PHP 5.3, 5.2, 5, and 4), I know WAMP can easily do this, But I have problem with a WP Plugin using WAMP. Now if XAMPP can support PHP version, It would make my life easy and organize; Compare to installing both WAMP and XAMPP (that I did last time, before I formated my workstation. Now I wont do that again if I have options). note: I'm using Windows 7 and installed XAMPP 1.7.3. Thanks!

  • I've only programmed in AS3; What's the easiest practice in Flash CS4 to create simple animations?

    So I've been using Flash for awhile, but rarely ever use the authoring tool. I want to create a quick little slideshow in which a user clicks buttons, and assets on the screen fade in an out as you move from slide to slide. I don't want to do this programatically...what's the quickest route to go about doing this, with using some AS3 but primarily relying on CS4's authoring tools? I remember when I first learned flash, years ago, you placed elements on stage and stretched them out over multiple frames. That seems like a lot of work...I'd rather just have, say, 10 total frames, each frame being a step in the slideshow, and each click of the next button going to that next frame, with each frame having its own animations.

  • What do I need to write a small game on Linux?

    I want to make a simple game: 2d, single-player, without tons of animations and special effects. I am not interested in ready to use game engines, I want to learn to write some code in a quite universal language. I am using Linux (AMD64) and looking for something easy with nice library for games. I do not want to mix few languages, most of them are in fact fast enough themselves for my needs. Cross platform would be an advantage, however all I need is a good Linux support. I have been considering few solutions. Ruby + Language looks very nice. + I am going to learn Ruby. - I am afraid I can have problems with additional libraries. - This thread about game libraries for Ruby could be longer. SDL + C + It is used for games. + It is very easy to set up. + There is a lot of additional libraries. + It is cross-platform. - The solution is quite low level. - The language is sometimes quite hard to read. QT + C++ + It is very easy to set up. + The standard QT libraries supports everything I can possibly need. + It is cross-platform. + The documentation is good. - The compilation is slow. - The language looks horrible. - The size of standard QT libraries is too big to comprehend. Environment of web browser + I am going to learn something more about this environment. + It is somewhat used for games. + It is quite cross-platform. - It would be too much experimental. Java + It is used for games. + The standard Java libraries supports everything I can possibly need. + It is cross-platform. - It is quite hard to set up. - The size of standard Java libraries is too big to comprehend. - The source code in Java could look better. - I think I do not want to learn Java. Google Go + I am going to learn Google Go. - There is big problem with libraries. - The solution would be quite low level. Python + It looks some people do games in Python, according to this thread. + It looks there are probably more libraries than for Ruby. - The Ruby language looks better. - I think I do not want to learn Python. C++ + something else + It is used for games. + It would be probably cross-platform. + There is a lot of libraries. - I do not need C++ extensions over C. - Compilation could be slow, there are fast compilers for C, not for C++. Haskell + I am going to learn Haskell. - Many things about programming computer games looks too much imperative. - It looks I can have some problems with libraries. - Compilation (GHC) looks slow. There is probably something more to consider. Does anyone have experience in making small games for Linux in non mainstream solutions? Does anyone have an advice for me?
