  • jquery ajax call errors in chrome onenter with no responseText

    - by wham12
I've built a login page that uses a .ajax call to a generic c# handler (.ashx) to validate the username and password before allowing the user to log in. If you click on the login link <a href="#" class="ui-state-default ui-corner-all CustomButton" onclick="goLogin();return false"> the .ajax call returns successfully and it logs the user in. I am trying to make it so the user can also just press the "enter" key from the password box: $("#pword").keydown(function(e) { if (e.keyCode == 13) { goLogin(); } }); Using Firefox, both ways work just fine and the user is logged in. With Chrome however, pressing "enter" hits the error function of my .ajax call and will not log the user in. The parameters and responses look identical through Firefox's console, as expected. What would be causing this and/or how can I debug it in Chrome?

  • how to fix: ctags null expansion of name pattern "\1"

    - by bua
Hi, As the title points I have problem with ctags when trying to parse user-defined language. Basically I've followed those instructions. The quickest and easiest way to do this is by defining a new language using the program options. In order to have Swine support available every time I start ctags, I will place the following lines into the file $HOME/.ctags, which is read in every time ctags starts: --langdef=swine --langmap=swine:.swn --regex-swine=/^def[ \t]*([a-zA-Z0-9_]+)/\1/d,definition/ The first line defines the new language, the second maps a file extension to it, and the third defines a regular expression to identify a language definition and generate a tag file entry for it. I've tried different flags: b,e for regex. My definition of tag is: --regex-q=/^[ \t]*[^[:space:]]*[:space:]*:[:space:]*{/\l/f,function/b When I replace \1 with anything else (ascii caracter set ), It works. the output is: (--regex-q=/^[ \t]*[^[:space:]]*[:space:]*:[:space:]*{/my function name/f,function/b) !_TAG_FILE_FORMAT 2 /extended format; --format=1 will not append ;" to lines/ !_TAG_FILE_SORTED 1 /0=unsorted, 1=sorted, 2=foldcase/ !_TAG_PROGRAM_AUTHOR Darren Hiebert /[email protected]/ !_TAG_PROGRAM_NAME Exuberant Ctags // !_TAG_PROGRAM_URL http://ctags.sourceforge.net /official site/ !_TAG_PROGRAM_VERSION 5.8 // my function name file.q /^.ras.getLocation:{[u]$/;" f my function name file.q /^.a.getResource:{[u; pass]$/;" f my function name file.q /^.a.init:{$/;" f my function name file.q /^.a.kill:{[u; force]$/;" f my function name file.q /^.asdf.status:{[what; u]$/;" f my function name file.q /^.pc:{$/;" f Why \1 doesn't work? • How to deal with callback to your UIController after your UIController unloads?

    - by erotsppa
Suppose your controller is a table view and one of the cells you are going off to do a length task (say download a thumbnail) to be viewed in the cell. Typically you would have the network call do a callback to your controller when it is done downloading. The callback can then reload the table or do some other form of UI update (hides a spinner etc). However, what if the controller is unloaded? Say the user navigated away from this controller and it got released? What happens? Will the callback still work despite the controller now not in memory? Also, if the callback operates on some objects (say the UITableView) what happens when the controller is deallocated? I suppose the controller can release all the objects and the callback would just be calling methods on nil to prevent crash. But is this the convention?

  • Drupal: How to render a form and table on same page

    - by Aaron
Can someone help me render a form and table on the same page? I'm sure it's easy, but can't think of how to do it. Here's hook_menu: function ncbi_subsites_menu() { $items = array(); $items['admin/content/ncbi_subsites'] = array( 'title' => 'NCBI Subsites Module', 'description' => 'Informs Drupal about NCBI subsites as defined by the Content Inventory database', 'page callback' => 'ncbi_subsites_show_main_page', 'access arguments' => array( 'administer site configuration' ), 'type' => MENU_NORMAL_ITEM, ); return $items; } Here's the callback: function ncbi_subsites_show_main_page() { $subsites = ncbi_subsites_get_subsites_from_inventory(); // fnc returns associative array from inventory, defined in include return ncbi_subsites_make_table( $subsites ); } In the callback I call some helper functions that return a themed, paged table. What I want is a small form above the table. How would I that?

  • WCF Host as windows service faults

    - by pdiddy
I have this WCF service running as a window service. I have in my code that everytime it faults it will restart the service. Now I'm having the issue where the host faults, it tries to restarts, then faults again, but at some point it just stop the service. Wondering why it stop the service? Is this something handled by the OS that it detects the service has faulted a number of time within a certain time it will just stop the service because it faulted too many time ?

  • Rapid Opening and Closing System.IO.StreamWriter in C#

    - by ccomet
Suppose you have a file that you are programmatically logging information into with regards to a process. Kinda like your typical debug Console.WriteLine, but due to the nature of the code you're testing, you don't have a console to write onto so you have to write it somewhere like a file. My current program uses System.IO.StreamWriter for this task. My question is about the approach to using the StreamWriter. Is it better to open just one StreamWriter instance, do all of the writes, and close it when the entire process is done? Or is it a better idea to open a new StreamWriter instance to write a line into the file, then immediately close it, and do this for every time something needs to be written in? In the latter approach, this would probably be facilitated by a method that would do just that for a given message, rather than bloating the main process code with excessive amounts of lines. But having a method to aid in that implementation doesn't necessarily make it the better choice. Are there significant advantages to picking one approach or the other? Or are they functionally equivalent, leaving the choice on the shoulders of the programmer?

  • How to create an ObservableCollection using LINQ in Silverlight

    - by sonofpirate
In a non-Silverlight world, it is easy to use LINQ to create an ObservableCollection. This is because the ObservableCollection class has constructors that accept any IEnumerable<T or List<T. However, the Silverlight version does not! This means that code such as: var list = (from item in e.Result select new ViewModel(item)).ToList(); Items = new System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection<ViewModel>(list); will not work in Silverlight. Is there another option to make this work besides resorting to a for-each statement?

  • How can I determine if a specified string is in a specific MySQL column? (and also perhaps a tutoria

    - by Rob
This is a fairly simple question. Basically, I'm having a program send HardWare ID's to my PHP script as GET data. I need the PHP script check to make sure that HardWare ID is in a specific MySQL column, and if it is, { continue the script, } else { exit(); } Problem is I'm not too good with MySQL and have no idea how to do this. However, I feel that I should know this by now, so if someone could also link me to a good tutorial site for MySQL, that kind of keeps it "humanized" if you know what I mean. One that "dumbs it down." I'm not dumb or anything, I just get sidetracked easily, and if all its doing is showing me code and not explaining it, I won't pick it up. If you don't have any tutorial sites off the top of your head, I'll settle for help with the first question, and try to hunt down a tutorial later.

  • Optimizing UITableView

    - by Daniel Granger
I have a UITableview made up with a custom cell loaded from a nib. This custom cell has 9 UILabel s and thats all. When scrolling the table on my iPhone the tables scrolling motion is slightly jerky, its not as smooth as other tableviews! (On the simulator it scrolls fine but I guess its using the extra power of my mac) Are there any tips to help optimize this or any tableview or methods to help find the bottleneck. Many Thanks

  • Regex Query to get string value

    - by Alex
Hi all, I am looking for a regex query that would allow me to retrieve a value from a string here are examples of my string: home.aspx?StudyID=0020101&aa=72 randompage.aspx?studyid=3023603&aa=40 myconfig.aspx?studyid=0021600&aa=40 I need to get the numerical value of the 'studyid' variable, please note that the name of the page will change so simply doing the substring and counting char spaces didn't work I unfortunately cannot use request.querystring method as this string is stored in the database and a select statement will be used for running this regex query Thanks

  • What is the Fastest Way to Check for a Keyword in a List of Keywords in Delphi?

    - by lkessler
I have a small list of keywords. What I'd really like to do is akin to: case MyKeyword of 'CHIL': (code for CHIL); 'HUSB': (code for HUSB); 'WIFE': (code for WIFE); 'SEX': (code for SEX); else (code for everything else); end; Unfortunately the CASE statement can't be used like that for strings. I could use the straight IF THEN ELSE IF construct, e.g.: if MyKeyword = 'CHIL' then (code for CHIL) else if MyKeyword = 'HUSB' then (code for HUSB) else if MyKeyword = 'WIFE' then (code for WIFE) else if MyKeyword = 'SEX' then (code for SEX) else (code for everything else); but I've heard this is relatively inefficient. What I had been doing instead is: P := pos(' ' + MyKeyword + ' ', ' CHIL HUSB WIFE SEX '); case P of 1: (code for CHIL); 6: (code for HUSB); 11: (code for WIFE); 17: (code for SEX); else (code for everything else); end; This, of course is not the best programming style, but it works fine for me and up to now didn't make a difference. So what is the best way to rewrite this in Delphi so that it is both simple, understandable but also fast? (For reference, I am using Delphi 2009 with Unicode strings.) Followup: Toby recommended I simply use the If Then Else construct. Looking back at my examples that used a CASE statement, I can see how that is a viable answer. Unfortunately, my inclusion of the CASE inadvertently hid my real question. I actually don't care which keyword it is. That is just a bonus if the particular method can identify it like the POS method can. What I need is to know whether or not the keyword is in the set of keywords. So really I want to know if there is anything better than: if pos(' ' + MyKeyword + ' ', ' CHIL HUSB WIFE SEX ') > 0 then The If Then Else equivalent does not seem better in this case being: if (MyKeyword = 'CHIL') or (MyKeyword = 'HUSB') or (MyKeyword = 'WIFE') or (MyKeyword = 'SEX') then In Barry's comment to Kornel's question, he mentions the TDictionary Generic. I've not yet picked up on the new Generic collections and it looks like I should delve into them. My question here would be whether they are built for efficiency and how would using TDictionary compare in looks and in speed to the above two lines? In later profiling, I have found that the concatenation of strings as in: (' ' + MyKeyword + ' ') is VERY expensive time-wise and should be avoided whenever possible. Almost any other solution is better than doing this.

  • Silverlight P2P App (In Browser) - Will we get RTMFP?

    - by Paul
Ok so from all my research I'm fairly positive P2P is not possible in Silverlight 4 (in browser). Flash can do P2P using Stratus/RTMFP which I believe uses UDP hole punching and a Stratus server to help initialize the connection. Is there any plans for Microsoft to add some kind of p2p rendezvous service in the future? Can we get a definitive yes/no on whether or not p2p is possible in SL4.

  • SQL IF ELSE with output params stored proc help

    - by Kettenbach
Hi All, I have a stored proc (SS2008) that takes a couple int ids and needs to look up if they exist in a table before adding a record. I have an int output param I would like to return and set its value based on what occrured. I have this so far, but it always returns 1. Can someone point me in the right direction? BEGIN TRY IF EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM tbMap WHERE (cId= @CId) ) SET @result = -1; -- This C User is already mapped ELSE IF EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM tbMap WHERE (dId = @DId) ) SET @result = -2; -- This D User is already mapped ELSE INSERT INTO tbMap ( Login , Email , UserName , CId , DId) SELECT @UserName , usr.EmailAddress , usr.UserName , @CId , @DId FROM tbUser usr WHERE usr.iUserID = @DId SET @result = 1; RETURN END TRY What am I missing? Thanks for any tips. Cheers, ~ck in San Diego

  • firefox aliased/jagged fonts in xfce

    - by hasen j
I've been using linux mint 7 for a couple of weeks now and I'm pretty happy with it, but I wanted to try out other desktops, e.g. KDE/Xfce I'm not sure if it's KDE's fault of Xfce's, but firefox's font rendering sucks now, it renders jagged/aliased fonts. I'm using xfce right now, My Xfce settings Manager > appearance > fonts settings roughly look like this: Default Font: Sans | 9 Rendring : [x] Enable anti-aliasing Hinting: None Sub-pixel Order: None But it's as if firefox ignores these settings!

  • Java: Cleaing up connection reset (but not by peer).

    - by Zombies
There seems to be some confusion as well contradicting statements on various SO answers: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/585599/whats-causing-my-java-net-socketexception-connection-reset . You can see here that the accepted answer states that the connecteion was closed by other side. But this is not true, closing a connection doesn't cause a connection reset. It is cauesed by "an underlying TCP/IP error." What I want to know is if a SocketException: Connection reset means really besides "unerlying TCP/IP Error." What really causes this? As I doubt it has anything to do with the connection being closed (since closing a connection isn't an exception worthy flag, and reading from a closed connection is, but that isn't an "underlying TCP/IP error." My hypothesis is this Connection reset is caused from a server's failure to acknowledge an ACK packet (either wholly or just improperly as per TCP/IP). And that a SocketTimeoutException is generated only when no data is generated to be read (since this is thrown during a read after a certain duration, and read is waiting for data, but is not concerned with ACK packets). In other words, read() throws SocketTimeoutException if it didn't read any bytes of actual data (DATA LAYER) in its allotted time.
