  • Which type of motherboard i should by and why?

    If budged is not matter. I just need best performance with less power consumption. I can purchase any cabinet , power supply and Motherboard. Is Power supply has any relation with Form factor? Is the size of motherboard and number of Slots only difference between all form factors? Is there any difference related to performance of motherboard? Is bigger in Size (ATX) motherboard always better?

  • Use a table as container or not?

    I have created my entire website by using a main table, and having the content inside the table. Some ppl suggest this is wrong, and I would like to know what to do specifically in my situation. On my index.html I have a <table align="center"> and then all content in it. Now the content is in form of DIVS and they all have relative positioning, so they are relative to the table. For example: <table align="center"> <tr> <td> <div style="position:relative; left:14px; top:50px;"> CONTENT HERE... (Form, divs, images) </div> </td> </tr> </table> I have just gotten to the stage of browser compatibility. Without making any changes whatsoever, my website works perfect in FF, SAFARI, Chrome and Opera. Only trouble with IE. So for my Q, if you where me, would you change my layout and remove the tables, and instead use alot more css and alot more DIVS, or would you go with what I have? And please if you answer me, don't just provide me with the answer, but also a "why" that is... in other words, give me arguments and facts... Thanks

  • How to inherit the current path when invoking Maven's exec-maven-plugin?

    I have an <exec-maven-plugin> which calls an external command (in this case, svnversion). The command is in the path for the current user. However, when a separate shell is spawned by the plugin, the path is not initialized. I don't want to hardcode or define a variable for each external command (there would be too much to maintain, especially that there are both Windows and *nix users).   • .NET coupled with MATLAB or R?

    I'm writing a program in .NET that will need to utilize the statistical and data analysis functions of R or MATLAB. I have used R but am now contemplating moving to MATLAB since it has a .Net compiler while R can only interface via COM objects. Can anyone recommend going either way? I know MATLAB is infinitely more expensive than R (since R is free) but I'm thinking that may translate to an easier development cycle?

  • Allowed characters in linux environment variable names

    What characters are allowed in linux environment variable names? My cursory search of man pages and the web did only produce information about how to work with variables, but not which names are allowed. I have a Java program that requires an defined environment variable containing a dot, like com.example.fancyproperty. With Windows I can set that variable, but I had no luck setting it in linux (tried in SuSE and Ubuntu). Is that variable name even allowed?

I am really concerend about speed and effciency. Security is pretty important too. Server will be running on a windows platform.     I'm using xpath 1.0 to parse an html file and I want to get a string sequence from a node-set. First I select a node-set (eg: //div) and then I want the string-value of each node of the set. I've tried with string(//div) but it only returns the string-value of the first node in the set. Example <foo> <div> bbbb<p>aaa</p> </div> <div> cccc<p>aaa</p> </div> </foo> I expect a result like ('bbbbaaa', 'ccccaaa') but I only get 'bbbaaa'

    Hello Everybody, I want to get the index of the min value of a numpy array that contains NaNs and I want them ignored >>> a = array([ nan, 2.5, 3., nan, 4., 5.]) >>> a array([ NaN, 2.5, 3. , NaN, 4. , 5. ]) if I run argmin, it returns the index of the first NaN >>> a.argmin() 0 I substitute NaNs with Infs and then run argmin >>> a[isnan(a)] = Inf >>> a array([ Inf, 2.5, 3. , Inf, 4. , 5. ]) >>> a.argmin() 1 My dilemma is the following: I'd rather not change NaNs to Infs and then back after I'm done with argmin (since NaNs have a meaning later on in the code). Is there a better way to do this? There is also a question of what should the result be if all of the original values of a are NaN? In my implementation the answer is 0

  • How can I join on a CSV varchar?

    I have a varchar field that contains a string like "10,11,12,13". How can I use that CSV string to join to another table with those IDs? Here's the approach I'm taking now: select * from SomeTable a WHERE (',' + @csvString + ',') LIKE '%,' + CONVERT(varchar(25), a.ID) + ',%' Where @csvString is "10,11,12,...". I intend to use this method as a join condition as well. That method works, but it's rather slow (using CAST doesn't improve the speed). I understand that having CSVs in the database like that is usually a very silly idea in most cases, but there's nothing I can do about that.

  • Forms Authentication and Login controls

    I am upgrading a website written using ASP.NET 1.1 and the logic for the login page includes verifying the credentials, calling FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie() and populating the Session with the user information. I am updating this page to use Login controls and the Membership API and am trying to wrap my head around the concepts that have been changed. Most of the samples I see do not do anything on the login button event handler, so is the logic of setting the cookie abstracted out into the control? Also, how do I check if a user is logged in or not on other pages. Does it still store user information using the Session? How do I check if a user belongs to a particular role or not (Earlier, I would look in the Session object to do something like this) Is the Session a bad way of storing user info? Thanks

    Hi! I'm using AJAX with PHP to read from a file and update the div's innerHTML. It works on Chrome and Firefox, but not in Internet Explorer. I tried to use: But I think it is useless, since I'm not refreshing the page. if(!$newMsg || $newMsg == "") { // only reading from the file // do nothing } else { $fileData .= "$newMsg"; fwrite($fileHandler, "$newMsg"); } fclose($fileHandler); echo $fileData; Interesting that when it enters the "else" block, it shows the file's content updated. But when it enters the "if" block, it shows the old content.
