  • Parse xml file with same tag multiple times iphone sdk

    - by neha
    Hi all, In my application, I have a tag multiple times. I'm using xml parser. I'm taking a corresponding element with similar name as the one in xml file in my class. So in case of: <photo>abc</photo> <photo>def</photo> What I get in photo element of my class is the second element i.e def, as the first one gets overwritten as there's only one photo element in my class. My question is am I wrong in taking similar elements in class as in case of xml? Is there any better method or a better parser? Or I'm on right path and have to do this manually by setting some flags etc? Thanx in advance.

  • sqlite 3 opening issue

    - by anonymous
    I'm getting my data ,with several similar methods, from sqlite3 file like in following code: -(NSMutableArray *) getCountersByID:(NSString *) championID{ NSMutableArray *arrayOfCounters; arrayOfCounters = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; @try { NSFileManager *fileManager = [NSFileManager defaultManager]; NSString *databasePath = [[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath ]stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"DatabaseCounters.sqlite"]; BOOL success = [fileManager fileExistsAtPath:databasePath]; if (!success) { NSLog(@"cannot connect to Database! at filepath %@",databasePath); } else{ NSLog (@"SUCCESS getCountersByID!!"); } if(sqlite3_open([databasePath UTF8String], &database) == SQLITE_OK){ NSString *tempString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"SELECT COUNTER_ID FROM COUNTERS WHERE CHAMPION_ID = %@",championID]; const char *sql = [tempString cStringUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]; sqlite3_stmt *sqlStatement; int ret = sqlite3_prepare(database, sql, -1, &sqlStatement, NULL); if (ret != SQLITE_OK) { NSLog(@"Error calling sqlite3_prepare: %d", ret); } if(sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, sql, -1, &sqlStatement, NULL) == SQLITE_OK){ while (sqlite3_step(sqlStatement)==SQLITE_ROW) { counterList *CounterList = [[counterList alloc]init]; CounterList.counterID = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *) sqlite3_column_text(sqlStatement,0)]; [arrayOfCounters addObject:CounterList]; } } else{ NSLog(@"problem with database prepare"); } sqlite3_finalize(sqlStatement); } else{ NSLog(@"problem with database openning %s",sqlite3_errmsg(database)); } } @catch (NSException *exception){ NSLog(@"An exception occured: %@", [exception reason]); } @finally{ sqlite3_close(database); return arrayOfCounters; } //end } then i'm getting access to data with this and other similar lines of code: myCounterList *MyCounterList = [[myCounterList alloc] init]; countersTempArray = [MyCounterList getCountersByID:"2"]; [countersArray addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",(((counterList *) [countersTempArray objectAtIndex:i]).counterID)]]; I'm getting a lot of data like image name and showing combination of them that depends on users input with such code: UIImage *tempImage = [UIImage imageNamed:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@_0.jpg",[countersArray objectAtIndex:0]]]; [championSelection setBackgroundImage:tempImage forState:UIControlStateNormal]; My problem: When i'm run my app for some time and get a lot of data it throws error: " problem with database openning unable to open database file - error = 24 (Too many open files)" My guess is that i'm opening my database every time when getCountersByID is called but not closing it. My question: Am i using right approach to open and close database that i use? Similar questions that have not helped me to solve this problem: unable to open database Sqlite Opening Error : Unable to open database UPDATE: I made assumption that error is showing up because i use this lines of code too much: NSFileManager *fileManager = [NSFileManager defaultManager]; NSString *databasePath = [[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath ]stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"DatabaseCounters.sqlite"]; BOOL success = [fileManager fileExistsAtPath:databasePath]; and ending up with error 24. So i made them global but sqlite3_errmsg shows same err 24, but app runs much faster now I'll try to debug my app, see what happens

  • Why won't my movie play using MPMoviePlayerController?

    - by Nosrettap
    I'm trying to get a basic movie to play in an iPhone app; however, I can't seem to get it to work. Here's my entire code: #import <MediaPlayer/MediaPlayer.h> #import "ViewController.h" @implementation ViewController - (IBAction)playMoviePressed:(id)sender { NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.ebookfrenzy.com/ios_book/movie/movie.mov"]; MPMoviePlayerController *moviePlayer = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:url]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(moviePlayBackDidFinish:) name:MPMoviePlayerPlaybackDidFinishNotification object:moviePlayer]; moviePlayer.controlStyle = MPMovieControlStyleDefault; moviePlayer.shouldAutoplay = YES; [self.view addSubview:moviePlayer.view]; [moviePlayer setFullscreen:YES animated:YES]; [moviePlayer prepareToPlay]; [moviePlayer play]; } @end I have one button on screen that calls playMoviePressed when it is tapped. I know that this method is getting called. I have also tried this with .mov and .mp4 local files that I have dragged into xcode.

  • viewForHeaderInSection - create header that would display properly in all cases

    - by sha
    I have an interesting problem/question and i'm not sure if it is even doable. So I have a custom header view for regular UITableView. But it's transparent and it doesn't fill fill table width. So it displayed properly when table is scrolled and this header view is displayed above cell content (sticked to the top). But when same header is displayed between two sections down - it looks ugly, because it's transparent and it's either displayed above black rectangle or above table background. I was wondering is there way to customize header view for when it's stick to the top and when it's not. Or... may be it's possible to specify what needs to be displayed underneath header view when it's between sections. Something like sectionSeparatorView?

  • How to obtain cocos2d-x 3.1 templates into XCode 5.x?

    - by Mayerz
    I cloned Cocos2d-x repo from github, everything works fine but I can't find how to install the Cocos2d templates into XCode. I saw that people were used to use this file, located at the root of the repo: ./install-templates-xcode.sh -f -u but it looks like this script file has been removed, any help appreciated. edit: Still no answer to this problem, even the slightest clues could help me. Are there still templates for XCode? Couldn't get answers from #cocos2d-x irc

  • Objective-C Result from a Static Method saved to class instance variable giving "EXC_BAD_ACCESS" when used.

    - by KinGBin
    I am trying to store the md5 string as a class instance variable instead of the actual password. I have a static function that will return a md5 string which I'm trying to store in an instance variable instead of the actual password. I have the following setter for my class instance variable: -(void)setPassword:(NSString *)newpass{ if(newpass != password){ password = [utils md5HexDigest:newpass]; } } This will pass back the correct md5 string and save it to the password variable in my init function: [self setPassword:pword];. If I call another instance method and try to access self.password" I will get "EXC_BAD_ACCESS". I understand that the memory is getting released, but I have no clue to make sure it stays. I have tried alloc init with autorelease with no luck. This is the md5HexDigest function getting called during the init (graciously found in another stackoverflow question): + (NSString*)md5HexDigest:(NSString*)input { const char* str = [input UTF8String]; unsigned char result[CC_MD5_DIGEST_LENGTH]; CC_MD5(str, strlen(str), result); NSMutableString *ret = [NSMutableString stringWithCapacity:CC_MD5_DIGEST_LENGTH*2]; for(int i = 0; i<CC_MD5_DIGEST_LENGTH; i++) { [ret appendFormat:@"%02x",result[i]]; } return ret; } Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated. I would rather have the md5 string saved in memory than the actual password calling the md5 every time I needed to use the password. Thanks in advance.

  • UITableViewController executes delate functions before network request finishes

    - by user1543132
    I'm having trouble trying to populate a UITableView with the results of a network request. It seems that my code is alright as it works perfectly when my network is speedy, however, when it's not, the function - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath- still executes, which results in a bad access error. I presume that this is because the array that the aforesaid function attempts to utilize has not been populated. This brings me to my question: Is there anyway that I can have the UITableView delegate methods delayed to avoid this? - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"AlbumsCell"; //UITableViewCell *basicCell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier forIndexPath:indexPath]; AlbumsCell *cell = (AlbumsCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (!cell) { **// Here is where the Thread 1: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=2 address=0x8)** cell = [[[AlbumsCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } Album *album = [_albums objectAtIndex:[indexPath row]]; [cell setAlbum:album]; return cell; }

  • Push a detail view in UITableViewCell class

    - by luca
    My class inherit from UITableViewCell, i have make some custom transitions to push a new detail view when an image get selected. [UIView transitionWithView:self.masterView duration:0.5 options:UIViewAnimationOptionShowHideTransitionViews animations:^ { [self.masterView addSubview:self.detailImage]; } completion:nil]; My code works fine, the detailImage subview is shown with a transition, but this transition is not what i want exactly. What i want to perform is a simple transition from bottom to up. The list of UIViewAnimation doesn't contain such animation. Is there any way to use that transition without changing my class inheritance to UINavigationController ?

  • Kepping object in memory (iPhone SDK)

    - by Chris
    I am trying to create a UIImageView called theImageView in the touchesBegan method that I can then then move to a new location in touchesMoved. Currently I am receiving an "undeclared" error in touchesMoved where I set the new location for theImageView. What can I do to keep theImageView in memory between these two methods? - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { ... UIImageView *theImageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"image.png"]]; theImageView.frame = CGRectMake(263, 228, 193, 300); [theImageView retain]; ... } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { ... theImageView.frame = CGRectMake(300, 300, 193, 300); ... }

  • Placing text on UIView in custom location

    - by JAM
    I am trying to calculate a position to place label on the screen. The goal is to place "word" label in lower right corner of the first square block If yellowish square is defined as myView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(100, 100, 70, 70)]; [self.view addSubview:myView]; [myView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor colorWithHexString:@"FFFFEC"]]; Using it, i'd like to place a label in it's lower right corner l1 = [[UILabel alloc] init]; [l1 setText:@"word"]; [l1 setFrame:CGRectMake(myView.frame.origin.x + myView.frame.size.width, myView.frame.origin.y + myView.frame.size.height, 700, 700)]; [l1 setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"Arial" size:10.0]]; [l1 setBackgroundColor:[UIColor colorWithHexString:@"CCFFFEC"]]; [l1 setTextAlignment:UITextAlignmentRight]; [l1 sizeToFit]; This is what happens: The matter here obviously, is in a correct offset. Knowing the font and size of text, how can one correctly calculate it?

  • iDevice for Dummies: Can a device be assigned multiple provisions (Personal/Enterprise)?

    - by Alex
    Hi guys, Is it possible to assign multiple provisions to an iDevice? To be honest, I'm not sure if I'm using the correct terminology, but basically, I'm developing an iPad app for a company and I've only been testing it in the simulator because I don't have a registration to the developer program and they haven't setup their enterprise registration yet either. And I'm sure you all know how limited the simulator is... I don't really care about the $99 it costs to join, but what I'm worried about is having my iDevices locked permanently to my personal registration and unable to switch back and forth to the enterprise registration. I'd appreciate it if someone can explain to me how the registrations work. And keep in mind, I'm a dummy. :) Thanks in advance!

  • Settings cell selected background view removes backgroundview

    - by Chris
    I'm trying to set up custom UITableViewCells. I can set the backgroundView no problem, but if I set selectedBackgroundView, the cell's background becomes white and only the selected background is seen: - (void) createCell: (UITableViewCell*)cell onRow: (NSUInteger)row { UIImageView* bgImage = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"cell_background_red.png"]]; cell.backgroundView = bgImage; cell.selectedBackgroundView = bgImage; cell.textLabel.hidden = YES; UILabel* titleLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame: CGRectMake(20, CGRectGetHeight(cell.frame) / 2, 200, 50)]; titleLabel.text = [[self.ruleList objectAtIndex: row] objectForKey: TitleKey]; titleLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [cell.contentView addSubview: titleLabel]; }

  • How to rotate UIViews?

    - by user717452
    The Twitter app is a tab bar app on the iPhone. Nothing in any of the tabs will rotate, yet, when you click on a link from a tweet, the view controller that is pushed on top of it IS allowed to rotate. The only rotations I have ever doe is from tilting the device, landscape or portrait, but I don't understand how to use 2d transformations and animations to rotate views. How do you rotate any view with that's a subclass of UIView?

  • Changing UIViews during UIInterfaceOrientation on iPad

    - by FreeAppl3
    I am trying to change views on rotation because my views have to be significantly different from portrait to landscape. Now the code I am using works once then the app freezes when trying to rotate back. Either direction does not make a difference. For example: If I am in Landscape and rotate to portrait everything works great until I rotate back to landscape then it freezes and does absolutely nothing. Here is the code I am using to achieve this In my "viewDidLoad" method [[UIDevice currentDevice] beginGeneratingDeviceOrientationNotifications]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(didRotate:) name:UIDeviceOrientationDidChangeNotification object:nil]; Then I call this for the rotation: - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { // Return YES for supported orientations return YES; } - (void)didRotate:(NSNotification *)notification { UIDeviceOrientation orientation = [[UIDevice currentDevice] orientation]; if ((orientation == UIDeviceOrientationLandscapeLeft) || (orientation == UIDeviceOrientationLandscapeLeft)) { // present the other viewController, it's only viewable in landscape [self.view addSubview:landScapeView]; } if ((orientation == UIDeviceOrientationLandscapeRight) || (orientation == UIDeviceOrientationLandscapeRight)) { // present the other viewController, it's only viewable in landscape [self.view addSubview:landScapeView]; } else if ((orientation == UIDeviceOrientationPortrait || (orientation == UIDeviceOrientationPortrait)) { // get rid of the landscape controller [self.view addSubview:portrait]; } else if ((orientation == UIDeviceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown || (orientation == UIDeviceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown)) { // get rid of the landscape controller [self.view addSubview:portrait]; } }

  • How to speed up saving a UIImagePickerController image from the camera to the filesystem via UIImagePNGRepresentation()?

    - by kazuhito0000
    I'm making an applications that let users take a photo and show them both in thumbnail and photo viewer. I have NSManagedObject class called photo and photo has a method that takes UIImage and converts it to PNG using UIImagePNGRepresentation() and saves it to filesystem. After this operation, resize the image to thumbnail size and save it. The problem here is UIImagePNGRepresentation() and conversion of image size seems to be really slow and I don't know if this is a right way to do it. Tell me if anyone know the best way to accomplish what I want to do. Thank you in advance.

Update: This is what i have done so far, but the response is not smooth, and is very jittery.. xdiff and ydiff are the change of device attitude in x and y directions, derived from quatenion implementation. if (currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.x < -2) { NSLog(@"To Top"); if (195+800*ydiff >=193 && 195+800*ydiff <= 197) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 195, 20, 20)]; }else{ if (195+800*ydiff >=390 ) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 390, 20, 20)]; }else if (195+800*ydiff <= 0){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 0, 20, 20)]; }else if(195+800*ydiff < 194){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 195+800*ydiff, 20, 20)]; }else if(195+800*ydiff > 196){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 195+800*ydiff, 20, 20)]; } } }else if (currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.x > 2){ NSLog(@"To Bottom"); if (195+800*ydiff >=193 && 195+800*ydiff <= 197) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 195, 20, 20)]; }else{ if (195+800*ydiff >=390 ) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 390, 20, 20)]; }else if (195+800*ydiff <= 0){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 0, 20, 20)]; }else if(195+800*ydiff < 194){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 195+800*ydiff, 20, 20)]; }else if(195+800*ydiff > 196){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 195+800*ydiff, 20, 20)]; } } }else if (currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.y < -2){ NSLog(@"To Left"); if (150+500*xdiff >= 148 && 150+500*xdiff <=152) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 195, 20, 20)]; }else{ if (150+500*xdiff >= 300 ) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(300, 195, 20, 20)]; }else if (150+500*xdiff <= 0){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 195, 20, 20)]; }else if(150+500*xdiff < 148){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150+500*xdiff, 195, 20, 20)]; }else if(150+500*xdiff > 152){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150+500*xdiff, 195, 20, 20)]; } } }else if (currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.y > 2){ NSLog(@"To Right"); if (150+500*xdiff >= 148 && 150+500*xdiff <=152) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 195, 20, 20)]; }else{ if (150+500*xdiff >= 300 ) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(300, 195, 20, 20)]; }else if (150+500*xdiff <= 0){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 195, 20, 20)]; }else if(150+500*xdiff < 148){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150+500*xdiff, 195, 20, 20)]; }else if(150+500*xdiff > 152){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150+500*xdiff, 195, 20, 20)]; } } }else if (currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.x < -0.20 && currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.y > 0.20 ){ NSLog(@"To Diagonal Right Top"); if (150+650*xdiff >= 148 && 150+650*xdiff <=152) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 195, 20, 20)]; }else{ if (150+650*xdiff >= 300 ) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(300, 0, 20, 20)]; }else if(150+650*xdiff > 152){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150+650*xdiff, 195-1.3*650*xdiff, 20, 20)]; } } }else if (currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.x > 0.20 && currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.y < -0.20 ){ NSLog(@"To Diagonal Left Bottom"); if (150+650*xdiff >= 148 && 150+650*xdiff <=152) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 195, 20, 20)]; }else{ if (150+650*xdiff <= 0 ) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 390, 20, 20)]; }else if(150+650*xdiff < 148){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150+650*xdiff, 195-1.3*650*xdiff, 20, 20)]; } } }else if (currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.x < -0.20 && currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.y < -0.20 ){ NSLog(@"To Diagonal Left Top and xdiff is %f",xdiff); if (150+650*xdiff >= 148 && 150+650*xdiff <=152) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 195, 20, 20)]; }else{ if (150+650*xdiff <= 0 ) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 20, 20)]; }else if(150+650*xdiff < 148){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150+650*xdiff, 195+1.3*650*xdiff, 20, 20)]; } } }else if (currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.x > 0.20 && currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.y > 0.20 ){ NSLog(@"To Diagonal Right Bottom"); if (150+650*xdiff >= 148 && 150+650*xdiff <=152) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 195, 20, 20)]; }else{ if (150+650*xdiff >= 300 ) { [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(300, 390, 20, 20)]; }else if(150+650*xdiff > 152){ [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150+650*xdiff, 195+1.3*650*xdiff, 20, 20)]; } } }else if((currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.x < 0.20 && currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.x < -0.20) ||(currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.y < 0.20 && currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.y < -0.20) ||(currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.z < 0.20 && currDeviceMotion.rotationRate.z < -0.20)){ [self.rollDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 195, 20, 20)]; [self.pitchDot setFrame:CGRectMake(150, 195, 20, 20)]; } It could be great if i could make it move like the application i have stated above, called Gyrododge This link also addresses a similar question:Link. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated... Thanks.
