  • Content Alignment Issue in UITableView cell

    - by OhhMee
    Please see the image attached. I don't understand why it's going outside. I've also attached code snippet for tableView. - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; // cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDetailDisclosureButton; } // Configure the cell. hNode* dCell = [array objectAtIndex:[indexPath row]]; cell.textLabel.text = @"Message"; cell.detailTextLabel.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[dCell contents]]; cell.detailTextLabel.lineBreakMode = UILineBreakModeWordWrap; cell.detailTextLabel.numberOfLines = 0; [[cell imageView] setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"user.png"]]; return cell; } - (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath*)indexPath { return 60; } Where could be the issue?

  • How to make sure an action completes before you continue

    - by HurkNburkS
    I am trying to close a UIView thats in one method from another method by calling it, The UIView closes fine but not untill after all of the processes are finished in the current method. I would like to know if there is a way to force the first thing to happen first (i.e. close UIviews) then continue the current method? This is what my method looks like - (void)selectDeselectAllPressed:(UIButton*)button { int id = button.tag; [SVProgressHUD showWithStatus:@"Updating" maskType:SVProgressHUDMaskTypeGradient]; [self displaySelected]; // removes current view so you can load hud will not be behind it if (id == 1) { [self selectAllD]; } else if (id == 2) { [self deselectAllD]; } else if (id == 3) { [self selectAllI]; } else if (id == 4) { [self deselectAllI]; } } as you can see what happens is this method is called when a button is pressed, I would like for the displaySelected method to do what it needs to do before any of the other methods are called? Currently what happes when i debug this is displaySelected method is called the thread walks through that then continues to the if statment then after the method in the if statment has finished then displaySelected changes are made... its so weird. any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Portrait video to landscape

    - by dappa
    I am aware questions like this one may already be out there but for the sake of others like me I will go ahead and ask I have a app that is set to only allow portrait orientation but this setting affects my videos as I would like only the videos to be able to play in landscape also. Is there a method I can add unto my .m file to make this work? Here is my code; #import "BIDVideosViewController.h" @interface BIDVideosViewController () @end @implementation BIDVideosViewController @synthesize moviePlayer ; @synthesize tableList; - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil { self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil]; if (self) { // Custom initialization } return self; } - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; UITableView *table = [[UITableView alloc]initWithFrame:self.view.bounds]; [table setDelegate:self]; [table setDataSource:self]; [self.view addSubview:table]; tableList = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"Gangan",@"SwimGood",@"German Ice", nil]; } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Dispose of any resources that can be recreated. } -(NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return [tableList count]; } -(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *DisclosureButtonIdentifier = @"DisclosurebutotonIdentifier"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:DisclosureButtonIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:DisclosureButtonIdentifier]; } NSInteger row = [indexPath row]; NSString *rowString = [tableList objectAtIndex:row]; cell.textLabel.text = rowString; return cell; } -(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { { NSBundle *str = [tableList objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; if ([str isEqual:@"Gangan"]) { NSBundle *bundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *thePath = [bundle pathForResource:@"Gangan" ofType:@"mp4"]; NSURL *theurl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:thePath]; moviePlayer = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:theurl]; [moviePlayer setMovieSourceType:MPMovieSourceTypeFile]; [self.view addSubview:moviePlayer.view]; [moviePlayer setFullscreen:YES]; [moviePlayer play]; } else if ([str isEqual:@"SwimGood"]) { NSBundle *bundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *thePath = [bundle pathForResource:@"SwimGood" ofType:@"mp4"]; NSURL *theurl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:thePath]; moviePlayer = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:theurl]; [moviePlayer setMovieSourceType:MPMovieSourceTypeFile]; [self.view addSubview:moviePlayer.view]; [moviePlayer setFullscreen:YES]; [moviePlayer play]; } else if ([str isEqual:@"German Ice"]) { NSBundle *bundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *thePath = [bundle pathForResource:@"German Ice" ofType:@"mp4"]; NSURL *theurl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:thePath]; moviePlayer = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:theurl]; [moviePlayer setMovieSourceType:MPMovieSourceTypeFile]; [self.view addSubview:moviePlayer.view]; [moviePlayer setFullscreen:YES]; [moviePlayer play]; } } } @end

  • How to post private message with Twitter API

    - by Venil Aminovich
    I want to send a private message to my followers with Twitter API (application is for iPhone). If I can do that with this API, please, give the code or the link to the code to me. Update: I've read the link dev.twitter.com/docs/api/1/post/direct_messages/new ACB gave me, and I understood the idea, how post direct messages. But the issue is there is no any word about autentification in this link. But I can't post tweet without autentification. Should I use TWRequest and set the account to this request? Thank you in advance!

  • Delegate Method only Firing after 5 or so Button Presses?

    - by CoDEFRo
    I'm having the most bizarre problem which I'm not even close to figuring out. I have a button which fires a delegate method. Once upon a time it was working fine, but after making some changes to my code, now the delegate method only fires after I push the button x amount of times (the changes I made to the code had nothing to do with the infrastructure that connects the delegate together). It varies, it can be 5 times to 10 times. I used the analyzer to check for memory leaks and there aren't any. There is too much code for me to paste here (I don't even know where to start or where the problem could be), but I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this problem before, or what could be causing it? This is very odd and have no clue what could be causing it.

  • I am getting duplicates in UITableView, cellForRowAtIndexPath

    - by Martol1ni
    I am getting duplicates of my array, and wrongly displayed cells in this method: Here I am initializing the array, and adding it to the tableView: NSArray *sectionsArray = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: @"Location", @"Front Post", @"Front Fixing", @"Front Footplate", @"Rear Post", @"Read Fixing", @"Rear Footplate", @"Horizontal Bracing", @"Diagonal Bracing", @"Front Beam", @"Front Lock", @"Rear Beam", @"Rear Lock", @"Guard", @"Accessories", @"Comments", @"Off load ref", @"Loc Empty", @"Loc Affected", nil]; [_tableArray setObject:sectionsArray atIndexedSubscript:2]; [_tableView reloadData]; For some weird reason there are always the 4th object that is messed up, and is either duplicated, or do not have the views from IB. Here is the cellForRowAtIndexPath: method: - (UITableViewCell *) tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { UITableViewCell *cell; if (indexPath.section == 2) { cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"EntryCell"]; cell.tag = indexPath.row; UILabel *label = (UILabel *)[cell viewWithTag:3]; [label setText:[[_tableArray objectAtIndex:2] objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]; } return cell; } I have logged the string [[_tableArray objectAtIndex:2] objectAtIndex:indexPath.row], and it logs the right string.

  • Objective C - creating concrete class instances from base class depending upon type

    - by indiantroy
    Just to give a real world example, say the base class is Vehicle and concrete classes are TwoWheeler and FourWheeler. Now the type of the vehicle - TwoWheeler or FourWheeler, is decided by the base class Vehicle. When I create an instance of TwoWheeler/FourWheeler using alloc-init method, it calls the super implementation like below to set the value of common properties defined in the Vehicle class and out of these properties one of them is type that actually decides if the type is TwoWheeler or FourWheeler. if (self = [super initWithDictionary:dict]){ [self setOtherAttributes:dict]; return self; } Now when I get a collection of vehicles some of them could be TwoWheeler and others will be FourWheeler. Hence I cannot directly create an instance of TwoWheeler or FourWheeler like this Vehicle *v = [[TwoWheeler alloc] initWithDictionary:dict]; Is there any way I can create an instance of base class and once I know the type, create an instance of child class depending upon type and return it. With the current implementation, it would result in infinite loop because I call super implementation from concrete class. What would be the perfect design to handle this scenario when I don't know which concrete class should be instantiated beforehand?

  • swipe to delete uitableview cell; a bit jumpy?

    - by Veeru
    I have implemented "swipe to delete" on my table cell. It works fine, how ever, the delete button is a little jumpy; as in, i really have to position my finger on top of the button and carefully touch it to delete the record. I am not sure if am making it clear; let me do my best to explain When the delete button appears; the user has trouble clicking on it, it disappears the moment its clicked. THe user has to try a few times to actually delete the cell. Am not sure what the reason is, it just seems like the delete button gets hidden as though the user has clicked on a different part of the cell. Any suggestsions?

  • two view controllers and reusability with delegate

    - by netcharmer
    Newbie question about design patterns in objC. I'm writing a functionality for my iphone app which I plan to use in other apps too. The functionality is written over two classes - Viewcontroller1 and Viewcontroller2. Viewcontroller1 is the root view of a navigation controller and it can push Viewcontroller2. Rest of the app will use only ViewController1 and will never access Viewcontroller2 directly. However, triggered by user events, Viewcontroller2 has to send a message to the rest of the app. My question is what is the best way of achieving it? Currently, I use two level of delegation to send the message out from Viewcontroller2. First send it to Viewcontroller1 and then let Viewcontroller1 send it to rest of the app or the application delegate. So my code looks like - //Viewcontroller1.h @protocol bellDelegate -(int)bellRang:(int)size; @end @interface Viewcontroller1 : UITableViewController <dummydelegate> { id <bellDelegate> delegate; @end //Viewcontroller1.m @implementation Viewcontroller1 -(void)viewDidLoad { //some stuff here Viewcontroller2 *vc2 = [[Viewcontroller2 alloc] init]; vc2.delegate = self; [self.navigationController pushViewController:vc2 animated:YES]; } -(int)dummyBell:(int)size { return([self.delegate bellRang:size]); } //Viewcontroller2.h @protocol dummyDelegate -(int)dummyBell:(int)size; @end @interface Viewcontroller2 : UITableViewController { id <dummyDelegate> delegate; @end //Viewcontroller2.m @implementation Viewcontroller2 -(int)eventFoo:(int)size { rval = [self.delegate dummyBell:size]; } @end

  • Download files with NSURL

    - by Ishwar
    I am trying to download a list of files from a ftp server using: NSURL *ftpUrl = [NSURL URLWithString:@"ftp://xxx:[email protected]"]; I HAVE to use FTP, so please do not recommend an alternative. I want to know how to get the list of files from the root directory and also navigate inside folders (of FTP server). P.S: I do not think external library would be required to accomplish such an easy task, but if I must, any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank You :)

  • One Common View In Every ViewController

    - by l3v
    I am having a hard time wording this when searching the internet so I am just going to ask the question. I have an options view in my app that slides into view when the user clicks a button. This options view will display app information like settings. I want this options view to be displayed on every view controller in my app. I do not want to copy and paste the code for the options view into every viewcontroller file. The options view has quite a few outlets and actions and also calls many delegates. How can I reuse this options view in all my view controllers without adding all the outlets, actions, and delegate methods each time? I was going to make a new file with public methods, but I would still have to copy the outlets. Would this public methods file have to include delegate methods as well then? Let me know if my question does not make sense. I am hoping there is a standard way of implementing something like this.

  • How to check in which position (landscape or portrait) os the iPhone now?

    - by Knodel
    I have an app with a tab bar, and nav controllers in each tab. When user shakes the device, a UIImageView appears as a child view in the nav controller. But the UIImageView must contain a special image, depending on the device's current orientation. If I write just - (void)willAnimateRotationToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation) if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait|| interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown) { //Code } else if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight||interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft) { //Code } } The view just goes crazy if user rotated the device before shaking. Is there a method to get iPhones current orientation?

  • UITableView with multiple selections

    - by NewDev
    I have a UITableView with multiple selections enabled. If I select items and scroll the list back and forth they are remembered and shown and selected (blue background). Using the didDeselectRowAtIndexPath and didSelectRowAtIndexPath I am able to keep my own array of selected items. That part works well. However, if I then use the sectionForSectionIndexTitle and jump to a letter, the selection appears to be forgotten - even indexPathForSelectedRows appears to have been reset and is now empty. My own array remembers that an item is selected and I can set the cell.selected in the cellForRowAtIndexPath but the instant I move the list it is forgotten again. Any ideas? Is this a bug, or how do you retain the selection list when jumping to a letter?

  • SLRequest return nil before block complete

    - by jaytr0n
    I'm having a little trouble thinking through this and deciding if it's a design flaw on my behalf or if I'm missing a piece that could make this work. Basically I'm using the new SLRequest to make a Twitter API call. After the data is returned, I'd like to put it into an object and return that object: -(AUDSlide *) getFollowerSlide { SLRequest *getRequest = [SLRequest requestForServiceType:SLServiceTypeTwitter requestMethod:SLRequestMethodGET URL:[NSURL URLWithString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"https://api.twitter.com/1.1/followers/ids.json?user_id=%@", [[self.twitterAccount valueForKey:@"properties"] valueForKey:@"user_id"]]] parameters:nil]; getRequest.account = twitterAccount; AUDSlide *slide = [[AUDSlide alloc] init]; [getRequest performRequestWithHandler:^(NSData *responseData, NSHTTPURLResponse *urlResponse, NSError *error) { if ([urlResponse statusCode] == 200) { NSError *jsonError = nil; NSDictionary *list = [NSJSONSerialization JSONObjectWithData:responseData options:0 error:&jsonError]; NSLog(@"Number of Followers: %u", [[list objectForKey:@"ids"] count]); slide.title = @"Followers"; slide.number = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%u",[[list objectForKey:@"ids"] count]]; } else{ slide.title = @"Error"; slide.number = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"E%u", [urlResponse statusCode]]; } }]; return slide; } Of course the slide is returned before the call is complete and returns a nil object. So I'm not sure if I should try to force this into a synchronous request (that seems like it could be a bad idea) or rethink the design. Does anyone have any advice?

  • Keeping object in memory (iPhone SDK)

    - by Chris
    I am trying to create a UIImageView called theImageView in the touchesBegan method that I can then then move to a new location in touchesMoved. Currently I am receiving an "undeclared" error in touchesMoved where I set the new location for theImageView. What can I do to keep theImageView in memory between these two methods? - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { ... UIImageView *theImageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"image.png"]]; theImageView.frame = CGRectMake(263, 228, 193, 300); [theImageView retain]; ... } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { ... theImageView.frame = CGRectMake(300, 300, 193, 300); ... }

  • How can I get my app ready for the iPhone 5

    - by RazorSharp
    Apple just announced the iPhone 5 with a 4 inch screen and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Of course, they only give developers two weeks to scramble to update their apps without being able to test. I'd like to update my app for the iPhone 5's new big screen, but there's nothing on Apple's developer site about the iPhone 5 or making your apps ready for a larger screen. It would be a pain to have to write my own logic for testing whether the device is an iPhone 5 and then displaying a custom storyboard file for it. Does anyone know how the new sizing works or if there are any hidden Xcode for this?

    I am taking a snapshot of a UIWebView layer, but when I render the webview's layer in the current context my app uses 10mb more memory, and I don't think that should be right. Here is my current code: CGSize imageSize = self.bounds.size; UIGraphicsBeginImageContextWithOptions(imageSize, YES, 0); CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); [self.layer renderInContext:context]; _snapshot = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext();

  • How should I set up UITableViewCell subclasses with UIControls in them?

    - by GeneralMike
    I have a dynamically generated UITableView (so I have to use prototype cells, not static cells) with many cells on it. Each cell will have a UILabel on it. Additionally, each cell will also have at least one UIControl (as of right now, it could be a UITextfield or a UISegmentedControl, but I want to keep it flexible in case I add something else in the future). I'm going to need to be able to send the text in that label, and get either the text in the textfield, or the title of the selected segment index, etc. For the cells with multiple controls, I'm going to have to also let it know what control I'm interested in for that call. What would be the best way to set this up?

  • Singleton design potential leak

    - by iBrad Apps
    I have downloaded a library off of github and have noticed that in the main singleton of the library there is a possible leak in this bit of code: +(DDGameKitHelper*) sharedGameKitHelper { @synchronized(self) { if (instanceOfGameKitHelper == nil) { [[DDGameKitHelper alloc] init]; } return instanceOfGameKitHelper; } return nil; } Now obviously there is no release or autorelease anywhere so I must do it but how and in what way properly? I have looked at various Singleton design patterns on the Internet and they just assign, in this case, instanceOfGameKitHelper to the alloc and init line. Anyway how would I properly fix this? Thanks!
