  • NS2, Otcl: using a variable of an owned instance within a class

    - by Hussain
Hello all, I'm using NS2 to create some new classes in C++ and then link them to otcl. The linkage and everything works, but when I try to use the otcl variables in an object, I'm having a trouble. For example, suppose I have a class "Node" with the variable X. In the code I want to set this value and later on use it in some if-statements. Setting the variable is no problem using this code: $node1 set x 4 Now the problem I'm having is when I try to use this variable x anywhere. In C++ we could use a general variable (i.e. y) and say "y=node.x and then use y in some if-statements. I have tried to look for a method to perform the same thing in otcl, but failed. Any help is appriciated. Thanks in Advance.

  • How do encrypt a long or int using the Bouncy Castle crypto routines for BlackBerry?

    - by DanG
How do encrypt/decrypt a long or int using the Bouncy Castle crypto routines for BlackBerry? I know how to encrypt/decrypt a String. I can encrypt a long but can't get a long to decrypt properly. Some of this is poorly done, but I'm just trying stuff out at the moment. I've included my entire crypto engine here: import org.bouncycastle.crypto.BufferedBlockCipher; import org.bouncycastle.crypto.DataLengthException; import org.bouncycastle.crypto.InvalidCipherTextException; • Clojure - tail recursive sieve of Eratosthenes

    - by Konrad Garus
I have this implementation of the sieve of Eratosthenes in Clojure: (defn sieve [n] (loop [last-tried 2 sift (range 2 (inc n))] (if (or (nil? last-tried) (> last-tried n)) sift (let [filtered (filter #(or (= % last-tried) (< 0 (rem % last-tried))) sift)] (let [next-to-try (first (filter #(> % last-tried) filtered))] (recur next-to-try filtered)))))) For larger n (like 20000) it ends with stack overflow. Why doesn't tail call elimination work here? How to fix it?

  • How's my pygame code?

    - by Isaiah
I'm still getting the hang of lots of things and thought I should post some code I made with pygame and get some feedback^^. I posted code here: http://urlvars.com/code/snippet/39272/my-bouncing-program http://urlvars.com/code/snippet/39273/my-bouncing-program-classes There's tome things that I implemented that I'm not using yet I just realized like a timer at the bottom of the main while loop. If my code isn't readable, I'm sorry, I'm self taught and this is the first code I've ever posted anywhere. By the way I made some variables that take the screensize and half it to find a point to spit out the squares, but when I try to use it, it makes a weird effect :/ Try switching the list i have in the newbyte() function with the halfScreen variable and see it freak out o.O thank you

  • When is performance gain significant enough to implement that optimization?

    - by Zwei steinen
Hi, following the text book, I do measure performance whenever I try optimizing my code. Sometimes, however, the performance gain is rather small and I can't decisively decide whether I should implement that optimization. For example, when a fix shortens an average response time of 100ms to 90ms under some conditions, should I implement that fix? What if it shortens 200ms to 190ms? How many condition should I try before I can conclude that it will be beneficial overall? I guess it's not possible to give a straight forward answer to this, as it depends on too many things, but is there a good rule of thumb that I should follow? Are there any guideline/best-practices?

  • Insert rownumber repeatedly in records in t-sql.

    - by jeff
Hi, I want to insert a row number in a records like counting rows in a specific number of range. example output: RowNumber ID Name 1 20 a 2 21 b 3 22 c 1 23 d 2 24 e 3 25 f 1 26 g 2 27 h 3 28 i 1 29 j 2 30 k I rather to try using the rownumber() over (partition by order by column name) but my real records are not containing columns that will count into 1-3 rownumber. I already try to loop each of record to insert a row count 1-3 but this loop affects the performance of the query. The query will use for the RDL report, that is why as much as possible the performance of the query must be good. any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

  • Why my application ask for a codec to pla the MVI(.MOV) video files while i can play them on WMP and QuickTime?

    - by Daniel Lip
I have an application i did some time ago when im loading the video file its ok when trying to play/use the file im getting the messageBox message say that its need a codec to use gspot or search the internet. Wehn im playing this files on my hard disk with Windows Media Play or either QuickTime there is no problems. The Video files for example name are: MVI_2483 in the file name properties i see its type: Quick Time Movie (.MOV) In my application im using DirectShowLib-2005.dll this is the class im using in my case to extract the video file im using it in my application to extract only lightnings from the video file name. In Form1 i have a button click event that just starting the action: private void button8_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { viewToolStripMenuItem.Enabled = false; fileToolStripMenuItem.Enabled = false; button2.Enabled = false; label14.Visible = false; label15.Visible = false; label21.Visible = false; label22.Visible = false; label24.Visible = false; label25.Visible = false; ExtractAutomatic = true; DirectoryInfo info = new DirectoryInfo(_videoFile); string dirName = info.Name; automaticModeDirectory = dirName + "_Automatic"; subDirectoryName = _outputDir + "\\" + automaticModeDirectory; if (secondPass == true) { Start(true); } Start(false); } This is the function start in Form1: private void Start(bool secondpass) { setpicture(-1); if (Directory.Exists(_outputDir) && secondpass == false) { } else { Directory.CreateDirectory(_outputDir); } if (ExtractAutomatic == true) { string subDirectory_Automatic_Name = _outputDir + "\\" + automaticModeDirectory; Directory.CreateDirectory(subDirectory_Automatic_Name); f = new WmvAdapter(_videoFile, Path.Combine(subDirectory_Automatic_Name)); } else { string subDirectory_Manual_Name; if (Directory.Exists(subDirectoryName)) { subDirectory_Manual_Name = subDirectoryName; f = new WmvAdapter(_videoFile, Path.Combine(subDirectory_Manual_Name)); } else { subDirectory_Manual_Name = _outputDir + "\\" + averagesListTextFileDirectory + "_Manual"; Directory.CreateDirectory(subDirectory_Manual_Name); f = new WmvAdapter(_videoFile, Path.Combine(subDirectory_Manual_Name)); } } button1.Enabled = false; f.Secondpass = secondpass; f.FramesToSave = _fts; f.FrameCountAvailable += new WmvAdapter.FrameCountEventHandler(f_FrameCountAvailable); f.StatusChanged += new WmvAdapter.EventHandler(f_StatusChanged); f.ProgressChanged += new WmvAdapter.ProgressEventHandler(f_ProgressChanged); this.Text = "Processing Please Wait..."; label5.ForeColor = Color.Green; label5.Text = "Processing Please Wait"; button8.Enabled = false; button5.Enabled = false; label5.Visible = true; pictureBox1.Image = Lightnings_Extractor.Properties.Resources.Weather_Michmoret; Hrs = 0; //number of hours Min = 0; //number of Minutes Sec = 0; //number of Sec timeElapsed = 0; label10.Text = "00:00:00"; label11.Visible = false; label12.Visible = false; label9.Visible = false; label8.Visible = false; this.button1.Enabled = false; myTrackPanelss1.trackBar1.Enabled = false; this.checkBox2.Enabled = false; this.checkBox1.Enabled = false; numericUpDown1.Enabled = false; timer1.Start(); label2.Text = ""; label1.Visible = true; label2.Visible = true; label3.Visible = true; label4.Visible = true; f.Start(); } And this is the class wich is not my oqn class i just just defined it in some places wich making the problem: using System; using System.Diagnostics; using System.Drawing; using System.Drawing.Imaging; using System.IO; using System.Runtime.InteropServices; using DirectShowLib; using System.Collections.Generic; using Extracting_Frames; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace Polkan.DataSource { internal class WmvAdapter : ISampleGrabberCB, IDisposable { #region Fields_Properties_and_Events bool dis = false; int count = 0; const string fileName = @"d:\histogramValues.dat"; private IFilterGraph2 _filterGraph; private IMediaControl _mediaCtrl; private IMediaEvent _mediaEvent; private int _width; private int _height; private readonly string _outFolder; private int _frameId; //better use a custom EventHandler that passes the results of the action to the subscriber. public delegate void EventHandler(object sender, EventArgs e); public event EventHandler StatusChanged; public delegate void FrameCountEventHandler(object sender, FrameCountEventArgs e); public event FrameCountEventHandler FrameCountAvailable; public delegate void ProgressEventHandler(object sender, ProgressEventArgs e); public event ProgressEventHandler ProgressChanged; private IMediaSeeking _mSeek; private long _duration = 0; private long _avgFrameTime = 0; //just save the averages to a List (not to fs) public List<double> AveragesList { get; set; } public List<long> histogramValuesList; public bool Secondpass { get; set; } public List<int> FramesToSave { get; set; } #endregion #region Constructors and Destructors public WmvAdapter(string file, string outFolder) { _outFolder = outFolder; try { SetupGraph(file); } catch { Dispose(); MessageBox.Show("A codec is required to load this video file. • Redmine connecting to SVN through SSL

    - by Pekka
I am having trouble connecting Redmine to a locally hosted subversion repository using SSL. I suspect it's the self-signed certificate that usually triggers a warning in the SVN client and browser. When I try to connect to the local repo through SSL in Redmine, I get a red "Revision not available" error. When I try connecting through svn://, the connection times out, and I have to restart the web server. Connecting without SSL works without problems. It would be nice to run subversion on SSL to make it safely accessible from the outside as well. I could run the repository through plain HTTP but would like SSL for outside communication. As far as I understand, subversion can't be run both ways at the same time. Does anybody know what to do in such a situation? Is there a configuration setting to ignore invalid certificates somewhere?

  • GraphicsDevice is null in my XNA Windows Game project

    - by indyK1ng
Hello All, I have just started trying to make a simple game with XNA 3.1 to help myself learn C# and XNA. I have run into a bit of an interesting problem, however. In all of the tutorials, one is supposed to pass GraphicsDevice when instantiating a new spriteBatch object like this: spriteBatch = new SpriteBatch(GraphicsDevice); One might even do this: GraphicsDevice objGraphics = new graphics.GraphicsDevice; spriteBatch = new SpriteBatch(objGraphics); where graphics is the GraphicsDeviceManager. However, no matter which version I try, I always get an ArgumentNullException when I try to pass the GraphicsDevice object to spriteBatch's constructor. Almost every tutorial I have found gives the first one and only one mentioned the second option. Has anyone else run into a similar error or know what could be causing this? I am working in Windows 7 x64 with Visual Studio 2008.

  • How to rebuild openssh 5.2p1 after changing configure.ac

    - by Arthur Ulfeldt
I needed to add AM_PATH_CHECK to configure.am I then try to run the usual sequence of autotools commands to rebuild all the makefiles and whatnot: aclocal automake -ac autoheader autoreconf ./configure make and here my lack of understanding of autotools showes up because this release of openssh has no Makefile.am??? now what do I do? if i try to ignore this and build anyway configure dies with this lovely error: checking whether OpenSSL's PRNG is internally seeded... yes ./configure: line 18275: syntax error near unexpected token `PROG_LS,' ./configure: line 18275: `OSSH_PATH_ENTROPY_PROG(PROG_LS, ls)' caused by this line in configure.ac: OSSH_PATH_ENTROPY_PROG(PROG_LS, ls) Is this actually caused by my changes to configure.ac? what can I do to regenerate the required files to allow configure to work? if i take my changes out and dont run aclocal then it works???

  • Integrate test process with Rspec and Cucumber in a plugin using Desert

    - by Romain Endelin
Hello, I'm developing some rails plugins with desert, and I would like to use tests with RSpec and Cucumber in the development. RSpec is integrated by default in Desert plugins, but it gives me some bugs. Finally I have created a minimal application which use my plugin, and I try to test it like a normal application without plugin. But I dislike that solution, the plugin lost its modularity, and RSpec still returns me some bugs (he can't find the models/views/controllers located in the plugin...). So am I the only one who try to test a Desert plugin (or even in a classic plugin) ? May anyone know those matters and get a solution ?

  • Java NumberFormatException

    - by Bragaadeesh
Hi, I am trying to do a conversion of a String to integer for which I get a NumberFormatException. The reason is pretty obvious. But I need a workaround here. Following is the sample code. public class NumberFormatTest { public static void main(String[] args) { String num = "9.18E+09"; try{ long val = Long.valueOf(num); }catch(NumberFormatException ne){ //Try to convert the value to 9180000000 here } } } I need the logic that goes in the comment section, a generic one would be nice. Thanks.

  • Convert date time value to expected with SimpleDateFormat

    - by Khoi Nguyen
I have an issue with converting a date time value to expected one with SimpleDateFormat (java), my expected format is MM/yyyy, and I want to convert 2 values to only 1 format MM-yyyy for example 05-2012 yyyy-MM for example 2012-05 ouput is 05/2012. I implemented something look like following String expiry = "2012-01"; try { result = convertDateFormat(expiry, "MM-yyyy", expectedFormat); } catch (ParseException e) { try { result = convertDateFormat(expiry, "yyyy-MM", expectedFormat); } catch (ParseException e1) { e1.printStackTrace(); } e.printStackTrace(); } private String convertDateFormat(String date, String oPattern, String ePattern) throws ParseException { SimpleDateFormat normalFormat = new SimpleDateFormat(oPattern); Date d = normalFormat.parse(date); SimpleDateFormat cardFormat = new SimpleDateFormat(ePattern); return cardFormat.format(d); } Now, the return value is 6808, I don't know why. Kindly anyone help me on this case.

  • Entity framework : [Set all the entities with internal access specifier]

    - by Vedaantees
Hi, By virtue of my application, I need to seperate my business entities from the entities created by EF4. I need to restrict the entities to only access the repository from where they are translated (using translator) to business entities shared at business and service layer. I thought of restricting them by specifying them as internal. Now there are more than 40 entities in my application so manually setting them as internal is a difficult job. In one of the forums the answers suggested using the T4 templates. But even those templates read from the entity framework access specifier. When I try to manually try to specify all the properties and class access specifiers as internal it gives me an error saying that the entity set should also be set to internal, but there is no option for the same. I am using VS 2010 and Entity Framework 4. Any suggestions???

  • Is there a free (as in beer) Flow chart generator for COBOL Code?

    - by btelles
Hi I've never read COBOL in my life and have been tasked with rewriting the old COBOL code in a new language. Are there any free or free-to-try software packages out there that will generate a flow chart for a COBOL program? I've looked at "Visustin" and "Code Visual to Flowchart" Visustin blanks out part of the code and does random rotations in the demo version, which causes the demo to be less accurate. I couldn't get Code Visual Flow Chart to work correctly with our code. Know of any other packages I might try?

  • How to use third party themes in swing application?

I want to use some third party themes (like synthetica http://www.javasoft.de/synthetica/themes/) in my swing appliaction. i am using eclipse ide, got the jar file of theme and did the following modification(according to the readme file from the theme) in my code try { UIManager.setLookAndFeel(new SyntheticaBlackMoonLookAndFeel()); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } but after this modification its showing the following error The type de.javasoft.plaf.synthetica.SyntheticaLookAndFeel cannot be resolved. It is indirectly referenced from required .class files what does this mean? i tried searching on net but cant really find any useful answers Contents of Readme file: System Requirements =================== Java SE 5 (JRE 1.5.0) or above Synthetica V2.2.0 or above Integration =========== 1. • C# DLL reference changes version and becomes unloadable (Plugin-system)

    - by Kristoffer
I will try to keep this as simple as possible. I have a rather simple plugin system that has run into a problem. I have 2 assemblies: Host.exe Plugin.dll Plugin.dll references Host.exe (which contains interfaces and classes that Plugin.dll implement and use). At runtime, Host.exe loads Plugin.dll through reflection and this works great. Except when Host.exe updates and gets a new version number. Then I get an error once I try to load Plugin.dll, saying that Host.exe (with the old version number) can't be found. This means I have to rebuild all plugins every time Host.exe changes build number. Anyone got a solution to this?

  • How to implement an EventHandler to update controls

    - by Bill
    May I ask for help with the following? I am attempting to connect and control three pieces of household electronic equipment by computer through a GlobalCache GC-100 and iTach. As you will see in the following code, I created a class-instance of GlobalCacheAdapter that communicates with each piece of equipment. Although the code seems to work well in controlling the equipment, I am having trouble updating controls with the feedback from the equipment. The procedure "ReaderThreadProc" captures the feedback; however I don't know how to update the associated TextBox with the feedback. I believe that I need to create an EventHandler to notify the TextBox of the available update; however I am uncertain as to how an EventHandler like this would be implemented. Any help wold be greatly appreciated. using System; using System.IO; using System.Net; using System.Net.Sockets; using System.Threading; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace WindowsFormsApplication1 { public partial class Form1 : Form { // Create three new instances of GlobalCacheAdaptor and connect. // GC-100 (Elan) 192.168.1.70 4998 // GC-100 (TuneSuite) 192.168.1.70 5000 // GC iTach (Lighting) 192.168.1.71 4999 private GlobalCacheAdaptor elanGlobalCacheAdaptor; private GlobalCacheAdaptor tuneSuiteGlobalCacheAdaptor; private GlobalCacheAdaptor lutronGlobalCacheAdaptor; public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); elanGlobalCacheAdaptor = new GlobalCacheAdaptor(); elanGlobalCacheAdaptor.ConnectToDevice(IPAddress.Parse("192.168.1.70"), 4998); tuneSuiteGlobalCacheAdaptor = new GlobalCacheAdaptor(); tuneSuiteGlobalCacheAdaptor.ConnectToDevice(IPAddress.Parse("192.168.1.70"), 5000); lutronGlobalCacheAdaptor = new GlobalCacheAdaptor(); lutronGlobalCacheAdaptor.ConnectToDevice(IPAddress.Parse("192.168.1.71"), 4999); elanTextBox.Text = elanGlobalCacheAdaptor._line; tuneSuiteTextBox.Text = tuneSuiteGlobalCacheAdaptor._line; lutronTextBox.Text = lutronGlobalCacheAdaptor._line; } private void btnZoneOnOff_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { elanGlobalCacheAdaptor.SendMessage("sendir,4:3,1,40000,4,1,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,181,21,800" + Environment.NewLine); } private void btnSourceInput1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { elanGlobalCacheAdaptor.SendMessage("sendir,4:3,1,40000,1,1,20,179,20,179,20,179,20,179,20,179,20,179,20,179,20,278,20,179,20,179,20,179,20,780" + Environment.NewLine); } private void btnSystemOff_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { elanGlobalCacheAdaptor.SendMessage("sendir,4:3,1,40000,1,1,20,184,20,184,20,184,20,184,20,184,20,286,20,286,20,286,20,184,20,184,20,184,20,820" + Environment.NewLine); } private void btnLightOff_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { lutronGlobalCacheAdaptor.SendMessage("sdl,14,0,0,S2\x0d"); } private void btnLightOn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { lutronGlobalCacheAdaptor.SendMessage("sdl,14,100,0,S2\x0d"); } private void btnChannel31_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { tuneSuiteGlobalCacheAdaptor.SendMessage("\xB8\x4D\xB5\x33\x31\x00\x30\x21\xB8\x0D"); } private void btnChannel30_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { tuneSuiteGlobalCacheAdaptor.SendMessage("\xB8\x4D\xB5\x33\x30\x00\x30\x21\xB8\x0D"); } } } public class GlobalCacheAdaptor { public Socket _multicastListener; public string _preferredDeviceID; public IPAddress _deviceAddress; public Socket _deviceSocket; public StreamWriter _deviceWriter; public bool _isConnected; public int _port; public IPAddress _address; public string _line; public GlobalCacheAdaptor() { } public static readonly GlobalCacheAdaptor Instance = new GlobalCacheAdaptor(); public bool IsListening { get { return _multicastListener != null; } } public GlobalCacheAdaptor ConnectToDevice(IPAddress address, int port) { if (_deviceSocket != null) _deviceSocket.Close(); try { _port = port; _address = address; _deviceSocket = new Socket(AddressFamily.InterNetwork, SocketType.Stream, ProtocolType.Tcp); _deviceSocket.Connect(new IPEndPoint(address, port)); ; _deviceAddress = address; var stream = new NetworkStream(_deviceSocket); var reader = new StreamReader(stream); var writer = new StreamWriter(stream) { NewLine = "\r", AutoFlush = true }; _deviceWriter = writer; writer.WriteLine("getdevices"); var readerThread = new Thread(ReaderThreadProc) { IsBackground = true }; readerThread.Start(reader); _isConnected = true; return Instance; } catch { DisconnectFromDevice(); MessageBox.Show("ConnectToDevice Error."); throw; } } public void SendMessage(string message) { try { var stream = new NetworkStream(_deviceSocket); var reader = new StreamReader(stream); var writer = new StreamWriter(stream) { NewLine = "\r", AutoFlush = true }; _deviceWriter = writer; writer.WriteLine(message); var readerThread = new Thread(ReaderThreadProc) { IsBackground = true }; readerThread.Start(reader); } catch { MessageBox.Show("SendMessage() Error."); } } public void DisconnectFromDevice() { if (_deviceSocket != null) { try { _deviceSocket.Close(); _isConnected = false; } catch { MessageBox.Show("DisconnectFromDevice Error."); } _deviceSocket = null; } _deviceWriter = null; _deviceAddress = null; } private void ReaderThreadProc(object state) { var reader = (StreamReader)state; try { while (true) { var line = reader.ReadLine(); if (line == null) break; _line = _line + line + Environment.NewLine; } // Need to create EventHandler to notify the TextBoxes to update with _line } catch { MessageBox.Show("ReaderThreadProc Error."); } } }

  • polymorphic hql

    - by Berryl
    I have a base type where "business id" must be unique for a given subclass, but it is possible for there to be different subclasses with the same business id. If there is a base type with a requested id but of the wrong subclass I want to return null, using a named query. The code below does this, but I am wondering if I can avoid the try/catch with a better HQL. Can I? Cheers, Berryl current hql <query name="FindActivitySubjectByBusinessId"> <![CDATA[ from ActivitySubject act where act.BusinessId = :businessId ]]> </query> current fetch code public ActivitySubject FindByBusinessId<T>(string businessId) where T : ActivitySubject { Check.RequireStringValue(businessId, "businessId"); try { return _session.GetNamedQuery("FindActivitySubjectByBusinessId") .SetString("businessId", businessId) .UniqueResult<T>(); } catch (InvalidCastException e) { // an Activity Subject was found with the requested id but the wrong type return null; } }

  • c++ exceptions and program execution logic

    - by Andrew
Hello everyone, I have been thru a few questions but did not find an answer. I wonder how should the exception handling be implemented in a C++ software so it is centralized and it is tracking the software progress? For example, I want to process exceptions at four stages of the program and know that exception happened at that specific stage: 1. Initialization 2. Script processing 3. Computation 4. Wrap-up. At this point, I tried this: int main (...) { ... // start logging system try { ... } catch (exception &e) { cerr << "Error: " << e.what() << endl; cerr << "Could not start the logging system. Application terminated!\n"; return -1; } catch(...) { cerr << "Unknown error occured.\n"; cerr << "Could not start the logging system. Application terminated!\n"; return -2; } // open script file and acquire data try { ... } catch (exception &e) { cerr << "Error: " << e.what() << endl; cerr << "Could not acquire input parameters. Application terminated!\n"; return -1; } catch(...) { cerr << "Unknown error occured.\n"; cerr << "Could not acquire input parameters. Application terminated!\n"; return -2; } // computation try { ... } ... This is definitely not centralized and seems stupid. Or maybe it is not a good concept at all?
