  • 401 Unauthorized returned on GET request (https) with correct credentials

    - by Johnny Grass
    I am trying to login to my web app using HttpWebRequest but I keep getting the following error: System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. Fiddler has the following output: Result Protocol Host URL 200 HTTP CONNECT mysite.com:443 302 HTTPS mysite.com /auth 401 HTTP mysite.com /auth This is what I'm doing: // to ignore SSL certificate errors public bool AcceptAllCertifications(object sender, System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates.X509Certificate certification, System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates.X509Chain chain, System.Net.Security.SslPolicyErrors sslPolicyErrors) { return true; } try { // request Uri uri = new Uri("https://mysite.com/auth"); HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(uri) as HttpWebRequest; request.Accept = "application/xml"; // authentication string user = "user"; string pwd = "secret"; string auth = "Basic " + Convert.ToBase64String(System.Text.Encoding.Default.GetBytes(user + ":" + pwd)); request.Headers.Add("Authorization", auth); ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = new System.Net.Security.RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(AcceptAllCertifications); // response. HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse(); // Display Stream dataStream = response.GetResponseStream(); StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(dataStream); string responseFromServer = reader.ReadToEnd(); Console.WriteLine(responseFromServer); // Cleanup reader.Close(); dataStream.Close(); response.Close(); } catch (WebException webEx) { Console.Write(webEx.ToString()); } I am able to log in to the same site with no problem using ASIHTTPRequest in a Mac app like this: NSURL *login_url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"https://mysite.com/auth"]; ASIHTTPRequest *request = [ASIHTTPRequest requestWithURL:login_url]; [request setDelegate:self]; [request setUsername:name]; [request setPassword:pwd]; [request setRequestMethod:@"GET"]; [request addRequestHeader:@"Accept" value:@"application/xml"]; [request startAsynchronous];

  • How do I access the CodeDomProvider from a class inheriting from Microsoft.VisualStudio.TextTemplating.VSHost.BaseCodeGeneratorWithSite?

    - by Charlie
    Does anyone know how to get a CodeDomProvider in the new Microsoft.VisualStudio.TextTemplating.VSHost.BaseCodeGeneratorWithSite from the Visual Studio 2010 SDK? I used to get access to it just by in mere inheritance of the class Microsoft.CustomTool.BaseCodeGeneratorWithSite, but now with this new class it is not there. I see a GlobalServiceProvider and a SiteServiceProvider but I can't find any example on how to use them. Microsoft.VisualStudio.TextTemplating.VSHost.BaseCodeGeneratorWithSite: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb932625.aspx I was to do this: public class Generator : Microsoft.VisualStudio.TextTemplating.VSHost.BaseCodeGeneratorWithSite { public override string GetDefaultExtension() { // GetDefaultExtension IS ALSO NOT ACCESSIBLE... return this.InputFilePath.Substring(this.InputFilePath.LastIndexOf(".")) + ".designer" + base.GetDefaultExtension(); } // This method is being called every time the attached xml is saved. protected override byte[] GenerateCode(string inputFileName, string inputFileContent) { try { // Try to generate the wrapper file. return GenerateSourceCode(inputFileName); } catch (Exception ex) { // In case of a faliure - print the exception // as a comment in the source code. return GenerateExceptionCode(ex); } } public byte[] GenerateSourceCode(string inputFileName) { Dictionary<string, CodeCompileUnit> oCodeUnits; // THIS IS WHERE CodeProvider IS NOT ACCESSIBLE CodeDomProvider oCodeDomProvider = this.CodeProvider; string[] aCode = new MyCustomAPI.GenerateCode(inputFileName, ref oCodeDomProvider); return Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(String.Join(@" ", aCode)); } private byte[] GenerateExceptionCode(Exception ex) { CodeCompileUnit oCode = new CodeCompileUnit(); CodeNamespace oNamespace = new CodeNamespace("System"); oNamespace.Comments.Add(new CodeCommentStatement(MyCustomAPI.Print(ex))); oCode.Namespaces.Add(oNamespace); string sCode = null; using (StringWriter oSW = new StringWriter()) { using (IndentedTextWriter oITW = new IndentedTextWriter(oSW)) { this.CodeProvider.GenerateCodeFromCompileUnit(oCode, oITW, null); sCode = oSW.ToString(); } } return Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(sCode ); } } Thanks for your help!

  • PowerShell PSCX Read-Archive: Cannot bind parameter... problem

    - by Robert
    I'm running across a problem I can't seem to wrap my head around using the Read-Archive cmdlet available via PowerShell Community Extensions (v2.0.3782.38614). Here is a cut down sample used to exhibit the problem I'm running into: $mainPath = "p:\temp" $dest = Join-Path $mainPath "ps\CenCodes.zip" Read-Archive -Path $dest -Format zip Running the above produces the following error: Read-Archive : Cannot bind parameter 'Path'. Cannot convert the "p:\temp\ps\CenCodes.zip" value of type "System.String" to type "Pscx.IO.PscxPathInfo". At line:3 char:19 + Read-Archive -Path <<<< $dest -Format zip + CategoryInfo : InvalidArgument: (:) [Read-Archive], ParameterBindingException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CannotConvertArgumentNoMessage,Pscx.Commands.IO.Compression.ReadArchiveCommand If I do not use Join-Path to build the path passed to Read-Archive it works, as in this example: $mainPath = "p:\temp" $path = $mainPath + "\ps\CenCodes.zip" Read-Archive -Path $path -Format zip Output from above: ZIP Folder: CenCodes.zip#\ Index LastWriteTime Size Ratio Name ----- ------------- ---- ----- ---- 0 6/17/2010 2:03 AM 3009106 24.53 % CenCodes.xls Even more confusing is if I compare the two variables passed as the Path argument in the two Read-Archive samples above, they seem identical: This... Write-Host "dest=$dest" Write-Host "path=$path" Write-Host ("path -eq dest is " + ($dest -eq $path).ToString()) Outputs... dest=p:\temp\ps\CenCodes.zip path=p:\temp\ps\CenCodes.zip path -eq dest is True Anyone have any ideas as to why the first sample gripes but the second one works fine?

  • Accessing web.config from Sharepoint web part

    - by philj
    I have a VS 2008 web parts project - in this project is a web.config file: something like this: <?xml version="1.0"?> <configuration> <connectionStrings/> <system.web> <appSettings> <add key="MFOwner" value="Blah" /> </appSettings> ……. In my web part I am trying to access values in the appSetting section: I've tried all of the code below and each returns null: string Owner = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings.Get("MFOwner"); string stuff1 = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["MFOwner"]; string stuff3 = WebConfigurationManager.AppSettings["MFOwner"]; string stuff4 = WebConfigurationManager.AppSettings.Get("MFOwner"); string stuff2 = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["MFowner".ToString()]; I've tried this code I found: NameValueCollection sAll; sAll = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings; string a; string b; foreach (string s in sAll.AllKeys) { a = s; b = sAll.Get(s); } and stepped through it in debug mode - that is getting things like : FeedCacheTimer FeedPageURL FeedXsl1 ReportViewerMessages which is NOT coming from anything in my web.config file....maybe a config file in sharepoint itself? How do I access a web.config (or any other kind of config file!) local to my web part??? thanks, Phil J

  • If Then Else Statement Condition Being Ignored?

    - by Matma
    I think im going mad but can some show me what im missing, it must be some stupidly simple i just cant see the wood for the trees. BOTH side of this if then else statement are being executed? Ive tried commenting out the true side and moving the condition to a seperate variable with the same result. However if i explicitly set the condition to 1=0 or 1=1 then the if then statement is operating as i would expect. i.e. only executing one side of the equation... The only time ive seen this sort of thing is when the compiler has crashed and is no longer compiling (without visible indication that its not) but ive restarted studio with the same results, ive cleaned the solution, built and rebuilt with no change? please show me the stupid mistake im making using vs2005 if it matters. Dim dset As DataSet = New DataSet If (CboCustomers.SelectedValue IsNot Nothing) AndAlso (CboCustomers.SelectedValue <> "") Then Dim Sql As String = "Select sal.SalesOrderNo As SalesOrder,cus.CustomerName,has.SerialNo, convert(varchar,sal.Dateofpurchase,103) as Date from [dbo].[Customer_Table] as cus " & _ " inner join [dbo].[Hasp_table] as has on has.CustomerID=cus.CustomerTag " & _ " inner join [dbo].[salesorder_table] as sal On sal.Hasp_ID =has.Hasp_ID Where cus.CustomerTag = '" & CboCustomers.SelectedValue.ToString & "'" Dim dap As SqlDataAdapter = New SqlDataAdapter(Sql, FormConnection) dap.Fill(dset, "dbo.Customer_Table") DGCustomer.DataSource = dset.Tables("dbo.Customer_Table") Else Dim erm As String = "wtf" End If

  • how to recieve text sms to specific port..

    - by Umesh
    recieve text sms to specific port.. I have been looking for an answer to this question but but to no avail. This question has been popped a few times but nobody seems to have a clear answer. my code is as follows.. --MANIFEST FILE-- <receiver android:name=".SMSRecieve" android:enabled="true" <intent-filter <action android:name="android.intent.action.DATA_SMS_RECEIVED"/ <data android:scheme="sms" / <data android:host="localhost" / <data android:port="15005" / </intent-filter </receiver --SMS sending method-- String messageText = msgTxt.getText().toString(); short SMS_PORT = 15005; SmsManager smsManager = SmsManager.getDefault(); smsManager.sendDataMessage("5556", null, SMS_PORT, messageText.getBytes(), null, null); --Broadcast Reciever code-- static final String ACTION = "android.intent.action.DATA_SMS_RECEIVED"; //static final String ACTION = "android.provider.Telephony.SMS_RECEIVED";(tried this too, but failed) if (intent.getAction().equals(SMSNotifyExample.ACTION)) { ...do some work.. } I also tried to replace android:name to "android.provider.Telephony.SMS_RECEIVED" but the result is the same. my application does not recieve the SMS on the specified port. Once i remove the following line its works fine <data android:scheme="sms" / <data android:host="localhost" / <data android:port="15005" / could you suggest me what am i missing??

  • Is saving to database just to get an ID a bad hack?

    - by Narsil
    I hope the title is not too confusing. I am trying to make folders with linq-to-sql objects' IDs. Actually I have to create folders before I should save them. I will use them to keep user uploaded files. As you can see I have to create the folder with the FileID before I can save it there. So I just save a record which will be edited or maybe deleted File newFile = new File(); ...//add some values to fields so they don't throw rule violations db.AddFile(newFile); db.Save(); System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory("..Uploads/"+newFile.FileId.ToString()); After that I will have to edit some fields and save again. Of course user might stop upload and I would have to delete it. I know I can write a stored procedure to get the next available FileID but some other upload happening at the same time would get the same number. So they would write in same directory which is a thing I don't want. Should I go on with this, would there be some problems? Can you think of a better way?

  • Multiple Concurrent Postbacks when using UpdatePanels

    - by d4nt
    Here's an example app that I built to demonstrate my problem. A single aspx page with the following on it: <form id="form1" runat="server"> <asp:ScriptManager runat="server" /> <asp:Button runat="server" ID="btnGo" Text="Go" OnClick="btnGo_Click" /> <asp:UpdatePanel runat="server"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="txtVal1" /> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> </form> Then, in code behind, we have the following: protected void btnGo_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { Thread.Sleep(5000); Debug.WriteLine(string.Format("{0}: {1}", DateTime.Now.ToString("HH:MM:ss.fffffff"), txtVal1.Text)); txtVal1.Text = ""; } If you run this and click on the "Go" button multiple times you will see multiple debug statements on the "Output" window showing that multiple requests have been processed. This appears to contradict the documented behaviour of update panels (i.e. If you make a request while one is processing, the first requests gets terminated and the current one is processed). Anyway, the point is I want to fix it. The obvious option would be to use Javascript to disable the button after the first press, but that strikes me as hard to maintain, we potentially have the same issue on a lot of screens it could be easily broken if someone renames a button. Do you have any suggestions? Perhaps there is something I could do in BeginRequest in Global.asax to detect a duplicate request? Is there some setting or feature on the UpdatePanel to stop it doing this, or maybe something in the AjaxControlToolkit that will prevent it?

  • Javascript: prototypeal inheritance and the prototype property

    - by JanD
    Hi, I have a simple code fragment in JS working with prototype inheritance. function object(o) { function F() {} F.prototype = o; return new F(); } //the following code block has a alternate version var mammal = { color: "brown", getColor: function() { return this.color; } } var myCat = object(mammal); myCat.meow = function(){return "meow";} that worked fine but adding this: mammal.prototype.kindOf = "predator"; does not. ("mammal.prototype is undefined") Since I guessed that object maybe have no prototype I rewrote it, replacing the var mammal={... block with: function mammal() { this.color = "brown"; this.getColor = function() { return this.color; } } which gave me a bunch of other errors: "Function.prototype.toString called on incompatible object" and if I try to call _myCat.getColor() "myCat.getColor is not a function" Now I am totally confused. After reading Crockford, and Flanagan I did not get the solution for the errors. So it would be great if somebody knows... - why is the prototype undefined in the first example (which is foremost concern; I thought the prototype of explicitly set in the object() function) - why get I these strange errors trying to use the mammal function as prototype object in the object() function?

  • How to use symbols/punctuation characters in discriminated unions

    - by user343550
    I'm trying to create a discriminated union for part of speech tags and other labels returned by a natural language parser. It's common to use either strings or enums for these in C#/Java, but discriminated unions seem more appropriate in F# because these are distinct, read-only values. In the language reference, I found that this symbol ``...`` can be used to delimit keywords/reserved words. This works for type ArgumentType = | A0 // subject | A1 // indirect object | A2 // direct object | A3 // | A4 // | A5 // | AA // | ``AM-ADV`` However, the tags contain symbols like $, e.g. type PosTag = | CC // Coordinating conjunction | CD // Cardinal Number | DT // Determiner | EX // Existential there | FW // Foreign Word | IN // Preposision or subordinating conjunction | JJ // Adjective | JJR // Adjective, comparative | JJS // Adjective, superlative | LS // List Item Marker | MD // Modal | NN // Noun, singular or mass | NNP // Proper Noun, singular | NNPS // Proper Noun, plural | NNS // Noun, plural | PDT // Predeterminer | POS // Possessive Ending | PRP // Personal Pronoun | PRP$ //$ Possessive Pronoun | RB // Adverb | RBR // Adverb, comparative | RBS // Adverb, superlative | RP // Particle | SYM // Symbol | TO // to | UH // Interjection | VB // Verb, base form | VBD // Verb, past tense | VBG // Verb, gerund or persent participle | VBN // Verb, past participle | VBP // Verb, non-3rd person singular present | VBZ // Verb, 3rd person singular present | WDT // Wh-determiner | WP // Wh-pronoun | WP$ //$ Possessive wh-pronoun | WRB // Wh-adverb | ``#`` | ``$`` | ``''`` | ``(`` | ``)`` | ``,`` | ``.`` | ``:`` | `` //not sure how to escape/delimit this ``...`` isn't working for WP$ or symbols like ( Also, I have the interesting problem that the parser returns `` as a meaningful symbol, so I need to escape it as well. Is there some other way to do this, or is this just not possible with a discriminated union? Right now I'm getting errors like Invalid namespace, module, type or union case name Discriminated union cases and exception labels must be uppercase identifiers I suppose I could somehow override toString for these goofy cases and replace the symbols with some alphanumeric equivalent?

    I am trying to create a method that pretty much takes anything as a parameter, and returns a concatenated string representation of the value with some delimiter. public static String getConcatenated(char delim, Object ...names) { String[] stringArray = Arrays.copyOf(names, names.length, String[].class); //Exception here return getConcatenated(delim, stringArray); } And the actual method public static String getConcatenated(char delim, String ... names) { if(names == null || names.length == 0) return ""; StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); for(int i = 0; i < names.length; i++) { String n = names[i]; if(n != null) { sb.append(n.trim()); sb.append(delim); } } //Remove the last delim return sb.substring(0, sb.length()-1).toString(); } And I have the following JUnit test: final String two = RedpillLinproUtils.getConcatenated(' ', "Shervin", "Asgari"); Assert.assertEquals("Result", "Shervin Asgari", two); //OK final String three = RedpillLinproUtils.getConcatenated(';', "Shervin", "Asgari"); Assert.assertEquals("Result", "Shervin;Asgari", three); //OK final String four = RedpillLinproUtils.getConcatenated(';', "Shervin", null, "Asgari", null); Assert.assertEquals("Result", "Shervin;Asgari", four); //OK final String five = RedpillLinproUtils.getConcatenated('/', 1, 2, null, 3, 4); Assert.assertEquals("Result", "1/2/3/4", five); //FAIL However, the test fails on the last part with the exception: java.lang.ArrayStoreException at java.lang.System.arraycopy(Native Method) at java.util.Arrays.copyOf(Arrays.java:2763) Can someone spot the error?

  • c# calling process "cannot find the file specified"

    - by laura
    I'm a c# newbie so bear with me. I'm trying to call "pslist" from PsTools from a c# app, but I keep getting "The system cannot find the file specified". I thought I read somewhere on google that the exe should be in c:\windows\system32, so I tried that, still nothing. Even trying the full path to c:\windows\system32\PsList.exe is not working. I can open other things like notepad or regedit. Any ideas? C:\WINDOWS\system32dir C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\PsList.exe Volume in drive C has no label. • How to use multifieldquery and filters in Lucene.net

    - by Khotu Nam
    I want to perform a multi field search on a lucene.net index but filter the results based on one of the fields. Here's what I'm currently doing: To index the fields the definitions are: doc.Add(new Field("id", id.ToString(), Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.UN_TOKENIZED)); doc.Add(new Field("title", title, Field.Store.NO, Field.Index.TOKENIZED)); doc.Add(new Field("summary", summary, Field.Store.NO, Field.Index.TOKENIZED, Field.TermVector.YES)); doc.Add(new Field("description", description, Field.Store.NO, Field.Index.TOKENIZED, Field.TermVector.YES)); doc.Add(new Field("distribution", distribution, Field.Store.NO, Field.Index.UN_TOKENIZED)); When I perform the search I do the following: MultiFieldQueryParser parser = new MultiFieldQueryParser(new string[]{"title", "summary", "description"}, analyzer); parser.SetDefaultOperator(QueryParser.Operator.AND); Query query = parser.Parse(text); BooleanQuery bq = new BooleanQuery(); TermQuery tq = new TermQuery(new Term("distribution", distribution)); bq.Add(tq, BooleanClause.Occur.MUST); Filter filter = new QueryFilter(bq); Hits hits = searcher.Search(query, filter); However, the result is always 0 hits. What am I doing wrong?

  • Adding space BETWEEN cells in TableCell()

    - by user279521
    My code is below. I want to add space between cells in tableCell() something the equivalent of <td></td>&nbsp;&nbsp;<td></td> I am NOT looking for cellpadding or cellspacing because they both add space between the left cell border and the left table border (wall); I want to add space between two CELLS, not the table and the cell; protected void Page_Init(object sender, EventArgs e) { Table tb = new Table(); tb.ID = "tb1"; for (int i = 0; i < iCounter; i++) { TableRow tr = new TableRow(); TextBox tbox = new TextBox(); tbox.ID = i.ToString(); TableCell tc = new TableCell(); tc.Controls.Add(tbox); tr.Cells.Add(tc); tb.Rows.Add(tr); } pnlScheduler.Controls.Add(tb); } Any ideas?

  • Returning a variable in a public void...

    - by James Rattray
    Hello, I'm abit new to programming Android App's, however I have come across a problem, I can't find a way to make global variables -unlike other coding like php or VB.NET, are global variables possible? If not can someone find a way (and if possible implement the way into the code I will provide below) to get a value from the variable 'songtoplay' so I can use in another Public Void... Here is the code: final Spinner hubSpinner = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.myspinner); ArrayAdapter adapter = ArrayAdapter.createFromResource( this, R.array.colours, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_item); adapter .setDropDownViewResource(android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item); hubSpinner.setAdapter(adapter); // hubSpinner.setOnItemSelectedListener(new OnItemSelectedListener() { public void onItemSelected(AdapterView<?> parentView, View selectedItemView, int position, long id) { //code Object ttestt = hubSpinner.getSelectedItem(); final String test2 = ttestt.toString(); Toast message1 = Toast.makeText(Textbox.this, test2, Toast.LENGTH_LONG); message1.show(); String songtoplay = test2; // Need songtoplay to be available in another 'Public Void' } public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView<?> parentView) { //Code } }); Basically, it gets the value from the Spinner 'hubSpinner' and displays it in a Toast. I then want it to return a value for string variable 'songtoplay' -or find a way to make it global or useable in another Public Void, (Which is will a button, -loading the song to be played) Please help me, Thanks alot. James

  • UriMapper Problem

    - by jsop
    I have the following xaml (nonessential markup removed in the interest of brevity): <navigation:Frame x:Name="ContentFrame" > <navigation:Frame.UriMapper> <uriMapper:UriMapper> <uriMapper:UriMapping Uri="/{pageName}" MappedUri="/Views/{pageName}.xaml"/> <uriMapper:UriMapping Uri="/FMChart/{metricID}/{orgID}" MappedUri="/Views/FMChart.xaml?metricID={metricID}&orgID={orgID}"/> </navigation:Frame.UriMapper> </navigation:Frame.UriMapper> </navigation:Frame> I'm creating the HyperLinkButton objects dynamically (in code), like so: int metricID = 1; int orgID = 1; HyperlinkButton button = new HyperlinkButton(); button.Name = Guid.NewGuid().ToString(); button.TargetName = "ContentFrame"; // this string doesn't work string url = string.Format("/FMChart/{0}/{1}", metricID, orgID); button.NavigateUri = new Uri(url, UriKind.Relative); When I click the bbutton, the browser renders a blank page, and eventually presents me with a REALLY long stack trace (InvalidOperation exception). If I take the parameters out of th indicated line: string url = "/FMChart"; ...it works as expected (brings up the desired page). I've also tried the following strings: /FMChart/{0}&{1} /FMChart/{0}& amp;{1} What am I doing wrong?

  • WriteableBitmap failing badly, pixel array very inaccurate

    - by dawmail333
    I have tried, literally for hours, and I have not been able to budge this problem. I have a UserControl, that is 800x369, and it contains, simply, a path that forms a worldmap. I put this on a landscape page, then I render it into a WriteableBitmap. I then run a conversion to turn the 1d Pixels array into a 2d array of integers. Then, to check the conversion, I wire up the custom control's click command to use the Point.X and Point.Y relative to the custom control in the newly created array. My logic is thus: wb = new WriteableBitmap(worldMap, new TranslateTransform()); wb.Invalidate(); intTest = wb.Pixels.To2DArray(wb.PixelWidth); My conversion logic is as such: public static int[,] To2DArray(this int[] arr,int rowLength) { int[,] output = new int[rowLength, arr.Length / rowLength]; if (arr.Length % rowLength != 0) throw new IndexOutOfRangeException(); for (int i = 0; i < arr.Length; i++) { output[i % rowLength, i / rowLength] = arr[i]; } return output; } Now, when I do the checking, I get completely and utterly strange results: apparently all pixels are either at values of -1 or 0, and these values are completely independent of the original colours. Just for posterity: here's my checking code: private void Check(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { Point click = e.GetPosition(worldMap); ChangeNotification(intTest[(int)click.X,(int)click.Y].ToString()); } The result show absolutely no correlation to the path that the WriteableBitmap has rendered into it. The path has a fill of solid white. What the heck is going on? I've tried for hours with no luck. Please, this is the major problem stopping me from submitting my first WP7 app. Any guidance?

  • Convert InputStream to String with encoding given in stream data

    - by Quentin
    Hi, My input is a InputStream which contains an XML document. Encoding used in XML is unknown and it is defined in the first line of XML document. From this InputStream, I want to have all document in a String. To do this, I use a BufferedInputStream to mark the beginning of the file and start reading first line. I read this first line to get encoding and then I use an InputStreamReader to generate a String with the correct encoding. It seems that it is not the best way to achieve this goal because it produces an OutOfMemory error. Any idea, how to do it ? public static String streamToString(final InputStream is) { String result = null; if (is != null) { BufferedInputStream bis = new BufferedInputStream(is); bis.mark(Integer.MAX_VALUE); final StringBuilder stringBuilder = new StringBuilder(); try { // stream reader that handle encoding final InputStreamReader readerForEncoding = new InputStreamReader(bis, "UTF-8"); final BufferedReader bufferedReaderForEncoding = new BufferedReader(readerForEncoding); String encoding = extractEncodingFromStream(bufferedReaderForEncoding); if (encoding == null) { encoding = DEFAULT_ENCODING; } // stream reader that handle encoding bis.reset(); final InputStreamReader readerForContent = new InputStreamReader(bis, encoding); final BufferedReader bufferedReaderForContent = new BufferedReader(readerForContent); String line = bufferedReaderForContent.readLine(); while (line != null) { stringBuilder.append(line); line = bufferedReaderForContent.readLine(); } bufferedReaderForContent.close(); bufferedReaderForEncoding.close(); } catch (IOException e) { // reset string builder stringBuilder.delete(0, stringBuilder.length()); } result = stringBuilder.toString(); }else { result = null; } return result; } Regards, Quentin
