• Need to split a string into two parts in java

    - by Reddy
I have a string which contains a contiguous chunk of digits and then a contiguous chunk of characters. I need to split them into two parts (one integer part, and one string). I tried using String.split("\D", 1), but it is eating up first character. I checked all the String API and didn't find a suitable method. Is there any method for doing this thing?

  • Focus problem with multiple EditText's.

    - by Ashish
I have an activity with two edittext controls. I am calling the requestFocus on the second edittext field since by default the focus goes to the first edittext control. The focus appears to be in the second edittext field (the second one gets the highlighted border), but if we try to enter any characters using the hardware keyboard the text appears in the first edittext control. Any ideas why it would be happening?

  • Eclipse javascript character encoding

    - by Bardock
Hi, I'd like to display some language specific characters from javascript but I can't. My app is a Java webapp and the front end is jQuery. All the characters that are sended from the server - in a JSP or with AJAX - are displayed properly. When I want to display some text hardcoded in to the javascript file it's broken. I'm using Eclipse. In the JSP's header I use: <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="UTF-8"%> I've tried this (charset in the script element) too: In my Eclipse I've set the project properties / text file encoding to UTF-8 AND I've checked the JS files' resource properties / text file encoding that is UTF-8 too. But when I try this: $.test = function(){ var s = "éééáááuuuu"; alert(s); } I get: éééáááűűűű The strange thing is that: When I try in a separate html file (in the same project), It's working:

Test

Even if I DO NOT use any content type and page encoding settings. What is the problem? What shall I do? (I'm using Apache Tomcat integrated in Eclipse) Thanks in advance!

  • .NET - alpha-numeric representation of numbers

    - by mack369
I'm implementing serial key functionality in my application. User needs to enter at least 64bit number in order to register the application. Because typing number like 9,223,372,036,854,775,807 will take a while I want to compress it a bit. The first guess was to code this number hexadecimally but it still is quite long (0x7FFF FFFF FFFF FFFF). Is there any standard method in .NET to code this number alphanumerically using for example: digits, upper-case and lower-case characters?

  • faster strlen ?

    - by Jack
Typical strlen() traverse from first character till it finds \0. This requires you to traverse each and every character. In algorithm sense, its O(N). Is there any faster way to do this where input is vaguely defined. Like: length would be less than 50, or length would be around 200 characters. I thought of lookup blocks and all but didn't get any optimization.

  • Hash Table question [closed]

    - by Fatimah
I need your help to solve this program ... Implement a separate chaining hash table that stores strings. You’ll need a hash function that converts string into an index number. Assume the strings will be lowercase words, so 26 characters will suffice.

  • â?? in my hmtl after purify

    - by mmcgrail
I have a database the i am rebuilding the table structure was crap so I'm porting some of the data from one table to another. This data appears to have been copy past from MSO product so as I'm getting the data I clean it up with htmlpurifier and some alittle str_replace in php here the clean function function clean_html($html) { $config = HTMLPurifier_Config::createDefault(); $config->set('AutoFormat','RemoveEmpty',true); $config->set('HTML','AllowedAttributes','href,src'); $config->set('HTML','AllowedElements','p,em,strong,a,ul,li,ol,img'); $purifier = new HTMLPurifier($config); $html = $purifier->purify($html); $html = str_replace(' ',' ',$html); $html = str_replace("\r",'',$html); $html = str_replace("
",'',$html); $html = str_replace(" ",'',$html); $html = str_replace(' ',' ',$html); $html = str_replace('

','',$html); $html = str_replace(chr(160),' ',$html); return trim($html); } but when I put the results into my new table and out put them to the ckeditor I get those three characters. I then have a javascript function that is called to remove special characters from the content of the ckeditor too. it doesn't clean it either function remove_special(str) { var rExps=[ /[\xC0-\xC2]/g, /[\xE0-\xE2]/g, /[\xC8-\xCA]/g, /[\xE8-\xEB]/g, /[\xCC-\xCE]/g, /[\xEC-\xEE]/g, /[\xD2-\xD4]/g, /[\xF2-\xF4]/g, /[\xD9-\xDB]/g, /[\xF9-\xFB]/g, /\xD1/,/\xF1/g, "/[ | |[ - ]|u200a||
|
| | |　| ]/g", /\u000b/g,'/[᠎|\u000c]/g', /–/g, /—/g, /\xa9/g,/\xae/g,/\xb7/g,/‘/g,/’/g,/“/g,/”/g,/…/g]; var repChar=['A','a','E','e','I','i','O','o','U','u','N','n',' ',' ','','-','--','(c)','(r)','*',"'","'",'"','"','...']; for(var i=0; i<rExps.length; i++) { str=str.replace(rExps[i],repChar[i]); } for (var x = 0; x < str.length; x++) { charcode = str.charCodeAt(x); if ((charcode < 32 || charcode > 126) && charcode !=10 && charcode != 13) { str = str.replace(str.charAt(x), ""); } } return str; } Does anyone know off hand what I need to do to get rid of them. I think they may be some sort of quote

  • PHP Curl Not formatting quotes properly; producing weird character set for single/double quotes

    - by user595052
I wrote a html scraper to scrape my various social identites, so I can make a real time 'biography' website. However after using php curl_exec, I find that texts that I have quoted, end up being formatted in a weird character set. ex: "I love dogs" gets formatted to ’I love dogs ’ "I hate cheese" gets formatted to “I hate cheese How do I either scrub these characters, or set curl not to format quotes like this. Also, I have turned off magic_quotes.

  • Increasing the character length of the Title Column in Sharepoint Site

    - by Nathan Fisher
Is it possible to increase the length of the Title column for a site above the 255 characters. My requirement is that I use a field that is longer than the maximum 255 chars but because the Title column is a required field I need to enter something in it. Rather than enter garbage just because I have to, I would like to use it. If not, then my current thoughts for a workaround will be make a copy of the first 255 chars of a seperate column that I am able to make longer.

  • How to avoid escaping by accident in PERL using system()?

    - by Brian
I want to run some commands using the system() command, I do this way: execute_command_error("trash-put '/home/$filename'"); Where execute_command_error will report if there was an error with whatever system command it ran. I know I could just unlink the file using Perl commands, but I want to delete stuff using trash-put as it's a type of recycling program. My problem is that $filename will sometimes have apostrophes, quotes, and other weird characters in it that mess up the system command or Perl itself.

  • How to keep same substrings in vim regex

    - by invisiblerhino
Hi everyone. I'd ideally like a vim answer to this: I want to change [*, 1, *, *] to [*, 2, *, *] Here the stars refer to individual characters in the substring, which I would like to keep unchanged. For example [0, 1, 0, 1] to [0, 2, 0, 1] [1, 1, 1, 1] to [1, 2, 1, 1] If people know how to do this in perl or python or whatever, that would be equally good. Cheers

  • Ask Field formatting

    - by developer
I am using ASK fields in a word document, wherein the user are prompted with questions and the document is then built with the answers that the user type in. My question is that word does not allow more that 200 characters in the prompt box wherein the user types in the questions. Is there a way I can increase its maxlength. Also I want to change the font color of the question asked in the prompt box. Is it possible?

  • Python get raw_input but manually decide when string is done

    - by Jasie
I want someone to type words in the console, and autocomplete from a list when they hit "tab" key. However, raw_input won't return a string until someone hits [Enter]. How do I read characters into a variable until the user hits [Enter]? *Note: I don't want to use import readline for autocompletion because of OS issues.
