Does anyone know where i can find such a AMI? Oracle database Enterprise Edition 11g release 2?
Has oracle supplied it somewhere or has someone else created one i can use?
Most projects now need some form of a database. When someone says database, I usually think relational databases, but I still hear about flat file XML databases.
What parameters do you take into consideration when deciding between a "real" database and a flat-file XML database. When should one be used over the other, and under what circumstances should I never consider using a flat file (or vice versa a relational) database?
After a week of asp.net mvc2, I still haven’t understood the advantages of ViewData.model or rather how I can properly utilize Viewdata. Can some teach me how to use Viewdata properly?
Also what’s TModel that’s associated with viewdata? How does one utilize TModel? The viewdata explanation in spark view engine talks about TModel and I couldn’t get a clue of how I can use it in my projects. Can someone help me?
Hey my name is Jacob, and I was wondering if any of the app developers here are looking for someone to make graphics for their apps.
Sorry if this is not an appropriate question for this site, but according to the FAQ, a question is valid as long as it is:
* detailed and specific
* written clearly and simply
* of interest to other programmers
Let me know :)
I have read about NSPasteBoard in the Apple documentation, and how it allows for applications to write into the PasteBoard and allow other applications to read that text and use it.
Could someone tell me how to paste text from am application (that sits in the status bar) into a NSTextField that is inside a different application.
What I am trying to do is something similar what Snippet and SnippetsApp do.
If I am completely stupid and missed the obvious in Apple Docs, could you please point me to the right path :)
Thanks!
Let's say I write some code, which we'll call X. It uses some GPL code, let's call it library Y. Clearly I would have to release X with a GPL license. That's fine. My question is, can I additionally release X under a license such as MIT, so that if someone only wants X but not Y they don't need to use it with the GPL?
I've never noticed it making any difference whether or not I include the .h at the end of an include, so I've always ignored the meaning, but I've just noticed in a particular program of mine, I get the error "memcpy was not declared in this scope" if I include "string", but not if I include "string.h".
First of all, I was wondering the specific cause of this, but also generally the difference between the two. At the same time, if someone could explain the difference between includes in angular brackets and those in quotation marks, It'd be much appreciated.
I did some searching but I cannot find documentation on how unix usage works. I know somethings (mostly through trial and error) but for example how do I know that:
/usr/bin/ls [-aAbcCdeEfFghHilLmnopqrRstuvVx1@] [file]...
Means that you can include more than one option. Ie:
ls -la
Can someone point me to some documentation on what the usage syntax is.
Hi, I have now gone over to Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2
I have used it for a few days, but now I can no longer add references from the GAC.

Sorry since this is not directly a development question, but I was not sure where to ask.
Does someone know how to fix this?
i need to use DoCmd.TransferText in vba to import a text comma delimited file. i need to use schema.ini to specify a schema because it also has quotes around certain fields because those fields contain commas as well and i do not want them to be read as separate fields. can someone help me use DoCmd.TransferText with schema.ini to import a file with access-vba into a table?
When programming sites you usually have one set of config files for the development environment and another set for the production server (or one file with both settings). I am assuming all projects should be handled by version control like git or svn. Manual file transfers (like FTP) is wrong on so many levels.
How you enable/disable the correct settings (so that your system knows which ones to use) is a problem for me. Each system I work on just kind of jimmy-rigs a solution. Below are the 3 methods I know of and I am hoping that someone can submit a more elegant solutions.
1) File Based
The system loads a folder structure based on the URL requested.
/site.com
/site.fakeTLD
/lib
index.php
For example, if the url is http://site.com then the system loads the production config files located in the site.com folder. However, if I'm working on the site locally I visit http://site.fakeTLD to work on the local copy of the site.
To setup this I edit my hosts
file and add site.fakeTLD to point to my
own computer (127.0.0.1/localhost) and then create a vhost
in apache.
So now I can work on the codebase locally and then push to the server without any trouble. The problem is that this is susceptible to a "host" injection attack. So someone loading site.com could set the host to site.fakeTLD and then the system would load my development config files instead of production.
2) Config Based
The config files contain on section for development - and one for production. The problem is that each time you go to push your changes to the repo you have to edit the file to specify which set of config options should be used.
$use = 'production'; //'development';
This leaves the repo open to human error should one of the developers forget to enable the right setting.
3) File System Check Based
All the development machines have an extra empty file called "development.txt" or something. Each time the system loads it checks for this file - if found then it knows it is in development mode - if missing then it knows it is in production mode. Since the file is NEVER ADDED to the repo then it will never be pushed (and checked out) on the production machine.
However, this just doesn't feel right and causes a slight slow down since all filesystem checks are slow.
Is there anyway that the server can auto-detect wither to use the development or production configs?

Hi,
I want to use DTLS (on OpenSSL) using JNI on Android 2.1/2.2.
Can someone help me get started (tutorials, howto, pointers etc) with building OpenSSL for Android (2.1/2.2) using the Android NDK?
Anything important that I should be aware of before doing it.
Thanks.
I have been playing around with different data clustering algorithms working on finding clusters between random data points represented an nodes, I keep reading that data clustering is used for image recognition. I am failing to make the connection, how does clustering data help in recognizing an image or in facial recognition. can someone explain this?
Could someone please give me a link on how to create a query in JDBC that gets a variable name in the WHERE statement, or write an example, to be more specific, my code looks something like this:
private String getLastModified(String url) {
String lastModified = null;
ResultSet resultSet;
String query = "select LastModified from CacheTable where " +
" URL.equals(url)";
try {
resultSet = sqlStatement.executeQuery(query);
}
Now I need the syntax that enables me to return a ResultSet object where URL in the cacheTable equals url from the method's argument.
thanks
From what I understand IServiceLocator is an interface to abstract the actual IoC container away? I'm asking with relation to Prism where I'm trying to replace Unity with Prism, and I see Prism-classes relying on IServiceLocator. Could someone please clarify the role of the interface and when it is used?
And also; what is the Common Service Locator, and will this be helpful when working with IServiceLocator?
Recently, I have been going through search trees and I encountered red-black trees, the point confusing me is, In r-b tree, the root node should be black thats fine, now how will I decide whether the incoming node assumes red or black color.
I have gone through the wiki article but have not found a solution for this. I might be wrong, but I would be happy if someone can guide me through the exact material.
Thank you.
Are there any R packages for the calculation of Kendall's tau-b and tau-c, and their associated standard errors? My searches on Google and Rseek have turned up nothing, but surely someone has implemented these in R.
I'm using the facedetect example and going from there. Right now it only detects faces. Could someone point me in the direction to detect finger tips. Thanks
Is there a good tool that can convert the XML output of FxCop into something that can be put into a Word document? I'd prefer not to write an XML-FO XSLT transform, maybe someone did something like that already.
Hi,
In the application I am developing, I would like to send messages in the form of JSON objects to a Django Server and parse the JSON response from the server and populate a custom listview.
From the little JSON knowledge I have, I thought this format for the response from server
{
"post": {
"username": "someusername",
"message": "this is a sweet message",
"image": "http://localhost/someimage.jpg",
"time": "present time"
},
}
How much knowledge of JSON should I have to accomplish this purpose? Also it would be great if someone could provide me links of some tutorials for sending and parsing JSON Objects.
