    - by Pentium10

AlarmManager am = (AlarmManager)ctx.getSystemService(Context.ALARM_SERVICE); am.setRepeating(AlarmManager.ELAPSED_REALTIME_WAKEUP, c.getTimeInMillis(), 1*60*60*1000, sender); It is not executed at 23:22h What I am doing wrong? I noticed firstTime and c.getTimeInMillis() differs a lot in size and length. When I use firstTime, so when set to 30 seconds, the alarm is executed well.

    - by Rod
HI, I am calling MFMailComposeViewController from UITableViewController. Problem is, delegate method mailComposeController:(MFMailComposeViewController)controllerdidFinishWithResult* is never called when I select Cancel or Send button in Mail compose window. Here is the table view class: @implementation DetailsTableViewController - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { if (indexPath.section==0 && indexPath.row==4){ //SEND MAIL MFMailComposeViewController *controller = [[MFMailComposeViewController alloc] init]; controller.mailComposeDelegate = self; if ([MFMailComposeViewController canSendMail]) { [controller setSubject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"Ref %@",[item objectForKey:@"reference"]]]; [controller setMessageBody:@" " isHTML:NO]; [controller setToRecipients:[NSArray arrayWithObject:[item objectForKey:@"email"]]]; [self presentModalViewController:controller animated:YES]; } [controller release]; } } - (void)mailComposeController:(MFMailComposeViewController*)controllerdidFinishWithResult:(MFMailComposeResult)result error:(NSError*)error { // NEVER REACHES THIS PLACE [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; NSLog (@"mail finished"); } The application don't crash. • When I debug my application I get frequently Launch error: Failed to connect to remote VM

    - by Pentium10
When I debug my application I get frequently Launch error: Failed to connect to remote VM even If I try again it doesn't help, I need to restart Eclipse. Edit Not sure yet fully if the symptoms have to do with the fact that I get this error only when I launch Debug without a code modification. Whenever I do a modification to the source code and hit Debug it goes through, but if I don't it doesn't.

  • Ways to optimize Android App code based on function call stack?

    - by K-RAN
I've been told that Android OS stores all function calls in a stack. This can lead to many problems and cause the 'hiccups' during runtime, even if a program is functionalized properly, correct? So the question is, how can we prevent this from happening? The obvious solution is to functionalize less, along with other sensible acts such as refraining from excessively/needlessly creating objects, performing static calls to functions that don't access fields, etc... Is there another way though? Or can this only be done through careful code writing on the programmers' part? Does the JVM/JIT automatically optimize the bytecode during compile time to account for this?? Thanks a lot for your responses!!

  • Custom UIButton + subviews = no events

    - by user281300
Basically I have a custom UIButton and this custom button contains subviews. If I add those subviews to my uibutton, then the button stops responding to event changes. I.e if I click on it it doesn't respond to the selector. I have everything set as userInteractionEnabled. I also tried adding touchbegan and this is working. If I remove those subviews, the UIButton works again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

  • Any way to ask a method for its name?

    - by Andy
I'm trying to debug an iPhone app I'm working on, and the idea of adding fifty NSLog statements to the various source files gives me the willies. What I'd like to do is write a pair of statements, say NSString *methodName = [self methodName]; NSLog(@"%@", methodName); that I can just paste into each method I need to. Is there a way to do this? Is there some Objective-C construct for asking a method for its name? Or am I gonna have to do this the hard way?

  • How to step frames in a movie recorded by iPhone

    - by aron
Is there a way to have my iPhone program step frame by frame through a movie recorded by the iPhone? What I want to do is have the user record a quicktime movie, then be able to step through the movie frame by frame. Alternately, I suppose if there was a way to extract every single frame from the movie to a jpg, then I could easily step through the pictures. Anyone know of a way to do this??? I suppose the third option (which might not get past Apple's store) is to capture the movie the way the old jailbroken apps did, which is somehow capture the pictures directly from the camera view???? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!!

  • iPhone transparent images rendering poorly

    - by alku83
I'm developing an iPad application. I have been provided with a PNG image that contains some transparency - basically a drop shadow. The problem I'm having is that this is rendering poorly within the application, both on the device and in the sim. I can't provide the whole image but I've made up some samples to illustrate. The first is how the image appears in the PSD (correctly that is). The second is how it appears on the device. You can see that the strip of shadow in the middle of the image is distinctly more yellow and poorly looking. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

  • Draw rectangle using Core Graphics with live preview

    - by mikawber
I'm creating a simple drawing application and would like some help with drawing rectangles based on the user's touch events. I'm able to draw a rectangle using Core Graphics from the point in touchesBegan to the point in touchesEnded. This rectangle is then displayed once the touchesEnded event is fired. However, I would like to be able to do this in a 'live' fashion. Meaning, the rectangle is updated as the user drags their finger. Is this possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

  • Is it possible to dither a gradient drawable?

    - by Seu
I'm using the following drawable: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:shape="rectangle" > <gradient android:startColor="@color/content_background_gradient_start" android:endColor="@color/content_background_gradient_end" android:angle="270" /> </shape> The problem is that I get severe banding on hdpi devices (like the Nexus One and Droid) since the gradient goes from the top of the screen to the very bottom. According to http://idunnolol.com/android/drawables.html#shape_gradient there isn't a "dither" attribute for a gradient. Is there anything I can do to smooth the gradient?

  • Should I use interface builder or not?

    - by Michael Waterfall
I'd like to know more about the pros and cons of using interface builder when developing iPhone/iPad apps. I've written a fairly complex and customized app that's on the app store right now, but all of the interfaces are hand coded as they are fairly complex. I've customised the navigation and tab bars with backgrounds, table view cells are manually drawn for speed, and some views are complex and scalable with many subviews. I'm pondering whether or not to start using interface builder but I'm not sure to what extent I'll use it and whether it's worth it at all. Is it quicker? Can things still be easily customised? Any advice would be most welcome!

  • How to rename an private file of my application?

    - by Ungureanu Liviu
Hi! I want to rename an context private file created with openFileOutput() but I don't know how... I tried that: File file = getFileStreamPath(optionsMenuView.getPlaylistName()); // this file already exists try { FileOutputStream outStream = openFileOutput(newPlaylistName, Context.MODE_WORLD_READABLE); // i create a new file with the new name outStream.close(); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { Log.e(TAG, "file not found!"); e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { Log.e(TAG, "IO exception"); e.printStackTrace(); } Log.e(TAG, "rename status: " + file.renameTo(getFileStreamPath(newPlaylistName))); //it return true This code throw FileNotFoundException but the documentation said "Open a private file associated with this Context's application package for writing. Creates the file if it doesn't already exist." so the new file should be created on disk. The problem: When I try to read from the new renamed file I got FileNotFoundException! Thank you!
