Suppose I have 2 sites that shares a common Model. What would be the best way to transfer a new Model instance created at Site A and save it in Site B's database? Could you please also recommend APIs for sending and receiving the data?
Default allowDefinition='MachineToApplication'
I have been looking around on different sites and fora, and i have a similar problem than some people had before... it is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplicat
How to use this solution:
Configure all MachineToApplication settings in your application's root,
and remove all MachineToApplication settings from your application's
subdirectories.
More and more mobile devices are consuming content on my eCommerce sites. IPhones, Blackberries, PSPs, Windows Mobile, etc and I need some ideas how to handle repurposing my data using CSS templates for these devices. Any ideas would be great.
Hi,
What tools can I use to debug mobile webkit sites?
Is there a better tool than "Firebug for iPhone" or is "Firebug for iPhone" pretty much the best tool out there?
Thanks,
Tee

I believe that at one point, I saw a TinySVG implementation that worked in the browser, using the canvas element as the backend. I found a few sites that appeared to indicate it was at http://fuchsia-design.com/CanvaSVG/, however, that site appears to no longer exist. Is this project (or a similar one) still on the web anywhere?
Hello there. I am attempting to obtain PCI compliance for my site but the Mcafee security scan has thrown a:
Potential Sensitive Persistent Cookie Sent Over a Non-Encrypted (SSL) Channel
Drupal (default behavior) sets a session cookie when you simply arrive at the site. This is causing the problem. Clearly, the entire site shouldn't be under SSL; plenty of other sites set session cookies like this.
What gives?
Code hosting sites such as github and bitbucket have public api's to retrieve statistics of project repositories. Is there such an api in google code or any other way to retrieve statistics about a google code project repository?

I have been able to find plenty of 16 and 32-bit NASM assembly references like here, but the only thing I could find on 64-bit NASM was what was in the small section of the NASM manual here. Are there any good sites or books that would have a better explanation of 64-bit assembly (Windows or Linux/Unix) with some good code examples?
I used to be a member of +Ma's Reversing, and later became a member of Caesum's Electrica. Recently I've played Bright Shadows. Are there other good sites for a challenge?
Question reopened; not a duplicate. Similar, yes, but slightly different.

I know this is a silly question :) But I am curious :)
How much should a full-time web developer with about 2 years experience be making in Los Angeles, CA area? Work mainly consists of coding sites in php, mysql with some jquery, ajax stuff .. and ofc html/css.
Also, what is a good language/technology to learn to increase salary for next job?? Python? Ruby? .NET?
I was told IBM no-longer uses Dojo. Is this true? A small amount of web searching shows IBM is/was a member of the Dojo Foundation and is/was a code contributor... If it is true, approximately when did IBM stop using Dojo? If its not, to what extend is IBM still actively using and promoting the toolkit (use in their public web sites, product integration/bundling, etc)?
I was learning this ORM because think this is good technology for most projects. But most employers required acquirement of ADO.NET and SQL.
This ORM not will use in high-loaded system (like popular web-sites)? In which types of projects this ORM will be useful? Are highly loaded projects using ORM?
I want to use htaccess to redirect all traffic from www.oldsite.com/directory to www.newsite.com
I want to make it so that when visitors view any webpage within www.oldsite.com/directory (ie. www.oldsite.com/directory/contact.html) it gets redirected to the homepage of www.newsite.com
I tried "Redirect /directory http:www.newsite.com" but the webpage the visitor is trying to access within the directory gets attached to the new sites url (ie. www.newsite.com/contact.html)
foreach($scraperSites as $site) {
//$scraperWriter->addSite( new ScraperSite($site) );
print_r($site);
}
scraperSites is the array of all sites from the mySQL database; I'm trying to keep $site as an array, (but only with one row worth of data), add it to an object, then move on to the next row.
Is there any way to convert a PDF to Word document via code?
I'm aware of several online sites that will do it however we cannot use them due to security concerns.
Opening the PDF in Adobe, copying all of the text and pasting into Word will not work as all of the text ends up jumbled around the place.
Is there any kind of utility that might accomplish converting PDF to Word (or rtf)?
Most of the sites capture the date (e.g. birth date) information as either a single entity (i.e via a calendar control) or instead as separate fields (date, month, year).
Are there any benefits in showing them as separate fields?
Are they represented in the database as DATE data type or as separate fields.
I am just trying to understand the pros & cons of representing the date field.
While designing my site I am constantly faced with the issue of whether its ok to TAKE ideas and designs from other sites. In some cases there is no distinction in certain aspects. Is there anything ethically wrong with this? Is this expected in the design programming community?
When considering social web app architecture, is it a better approach to document user social patterns in a database or in logs? I thought for sure that behavior, actions, events would be strictly database stored but I noticed that some of the larger social sites out there also track a lot by logging what happens.
Is it good practice to store prominent data about users in a database and since thousands of user actions can be spawned easily, should they be simply logged?
All those familiar with websphere commerce will know that it is feature rich. It supports B2B, B2C and extended sites(which ATG doesn't) and some other features. But it is complicated, and on the performance and reliability front it still seems to leave a lot to be desired. Any opinions on which would be better for a high traffic site?
Where can I find a list of common medical drugs? Researching and typing 150+ drug names would be quite inefficient.
In general, are there any sites which have a list of items for developers to use in applications? For example, you can download dictionaries in specific formats (e.g. XML) for use in word games.
I'm a programmer for some time now yet I haven't found the right websites which offer me the information I'm interested in. I've looked at TechCrunch, Slashdot, etc. but there wasn't so much actually about programming.
When something urgently important happens in the programming world, where could I read it first?
What are some good sites/communities around programming?
