I have 2 commits that I did not push:
$ git status
# On branch master
# Your branch is ahead of 'faves/master' by 2 commits.
How can I roll back my first one (the oldest one), but keep the second one?
$ git log
commit 3368e1c5b8a47135a34169c885e8dd5ba01af5bb
...
commit baf8d5e7da9e41fcd37d63ae9483ee0b10bfac8e
...
From here:
http://friendfeed.com/harijay/742631ff/git-question-how-do-i-rollback-commit-just-want
Do I just need to do:
git reset --hard baf8d5e7da9e41fcd37d63ae9483ee0b10bfac8e
That is?
I use SyncbackSE on Windows to back up files between two hard drives daily.
Every time the application starts, it scans every single file in the directories that it watches before copying files that were added or modified.
To improve performance, I was wondering if there were a Windows backup application that would hook into Windows to keep tracks of files that were added/modified in given directories, so that it only needs to go through this list when it comes time for a backup.
Thank you.
We have an old VB6 application, written in the UK, which we want to run on a client's server in Canada. The application must have some hard-coded date formats in it somewhere, as it's misinterpreting dates, eg, 6th April is getting recorded as 4th June. I know I could change the user's date format, but this would affect all applications. Is it possible, perhaps with some sort of wrapper script, to set specific regional settings for this single application?
Is it possible to make salt require that a particular file was appended to as opposed to the file merely existing?
It seems like I can only require a file state. The source looks like it strips out any method names from a require attribute.
In the example below, I only want the foo service to run if my lines have been appended to /etc/security/limits.conf.
file.append:
- name: /etc/security/limits.conf
- text:
- root hard nofile 65535
- root soft nofile 65535
foo:
service.running:
- enable: True
- require:
- file.append: /etc/security/limits.conf
I have used Puttygen to create a public and a private key, and then is ready to let TortoiseHg on Windows 7 do a clone by going to
ssh:[email protected]/somecode
but there seems to be no where to add the private key to TortoiseHg?
The file is already some where on hard disk as somefile.ppk Does someone know how to add it?
I am web designer/developer, and I design and code "Premium Wordpress Themes" and HTML Websites.
I wish to buy a new PC system with fast features, and will be installing virtual machines too.
What kind of PC system would be best for a professional web designer/developer.
Tell me the PC specs, e.g processor, motherboard, how much hard drive, RAM, graphic card etc.
Don't really care about the price.
There isn't much room on server chassis and I'm wondering where a label with the servers name should go? Is there any other information in addition to the name that should go on the label? Does it make sense to label each hard drive in a server or is that not necessary?
There certainly is overkill, when I worked at Big Blue labeling was a huge source of bureaucracy, even a projector needed to be labelled and have it's whereabouts routinely reported.
I'm trying to find a place where I can download both Vista Home Premium and Windows 7 OEM Iso's.
I own both, and my hard drive died in my Vista computer, so I ran out, bought another one and now need to re-install my OS. However, the computer came with it, and didn't come with a disk (Thanks Acer!)
So, is there a place I can download an ISO of my Windows that ISN'T illegaly activated? I can't find any torrents that are legitimate.
Thanks in advance!
I am choosing a wireless headset for my PC (I hate cables) and am looking at Sennheiser RS 170 / 180. They supposedly sound great, however, there is a 25ms audio latency. I've heard that this is OK when watching TV or listening musing but is bad for games.
The question is - has there been any research / hard data that would show how much of a delay is noticeable by human brain? 25ms doesn't sound like a lot but I may be wrong.
I have bunch of Chinese .wav files on my hard disk that I'm trying to convert into .mp3 with Audacity but it appear that Audacity can not read Chinese character songs but the .wav file display correctly on my 32 bits Win7 Ultimate(English) pc.
I have to rename these Chinese character songs into English file name in order to convert them.
Does anyone know if there is any software (prefer open source) that will take Chinese character file name(.wav) and convert it into .mp3 without renaming the file?
I'm running VMware Workstation 6.54 on a Windows 7 host (64-bit). Whenever the host loses network connectivity the VMs never get their connection back until I reboot the machine (which I have to do right after I finish writing this). I've tried restarting the "relevant" services (like VMware Nat Service) but only a hard reboot works for me. Does this issue sound familiar?
There is a computer that is not mine that is accessible on my network. I can even access its filesystem via AFP. What I want to know is how the computer could get on my network. My network is secured like this:
Does that mean that they've used password cracking tools? The pass is not easy to guess but not hard to figure out via brute-force hacking, I guess.
If I am being hacked, should I switch to WPA?
I have a questions regarding how to see all NICS in the solaris 8/9 SPARC boxes.
Even if they are active/inactive.
dladm show-link command does not work.
cat /etc/path_to_inst could but it's hard to make out the NICS.
Also when a cable is disconnected from the NIC ifconfig -a still shows the NIC as "UP/RUNNING"
without looking at the system message, is there a way to know that the NIC is unplugged?
Thank you!

I'm troubleshooting a Polycom SoundPoint IP 550. I have wiped the hard disk of the phone (via a menu option) and now it's stuck in a reboot cycle. Apparently the only way to setup the firmware of the phone is to use a boot server.
Does anyone know another way to setup the phone/firmware?
I've got a simple desktop.ini file that applies a folder icon. I'd like it to work on a network location, as we have an external hard drive connected to our network. However, the desktop.ini seems to have no effect on said network.
What am I doing wrong?
When I tried to re install Ubuntu 11.10, I wanted to erase the existing Ubuntu using gparted editor/ something else icon in Ubuntu. I found it was not detecting any existing partition.
Then when I googled and used gparted editor I found it was showing unallocated space of entire hard disk space. However I am able to boot to Ubuntu normally and when I use disk utilities I am able to access and see all partitions. Please help me to solve my issue
File history is great but it saves your files on the external drive without any encryption and stores them using the exact same folder structure as the originals.
If a bad guy gets his hands on the hard drive it could basically not be easier to get to your important files.
Is there any way to encrypt the file history backup without breaking its functionality and without having to encrypt the original content itself?
Thanks for your input!
I have lost my shortcuts a few times (from hard drive crashes).
Is there a good tool to back them up easily. (I would prefer to not have to remember to do it.)
Backing them up to the internet would be a nice bonus, but it is not required for my needs.
