• Handling ties when ranking from the highest to the lowest

  I am trying to make a ranking manager for a small project.The totals are stored in the database.I can easily get the max and min using mysql and also arrange the records descending.The problem comes in when there is a tie.I need to show a tie in the form:1,2,3,3,4,5,6,7,7,7,7, etc.The repeated numbers will show the ties.I have been thinking of ways of achieving the above but i need more ideas;mine is seems long and complicated. Can anybody share his/her idea of doing the ties.

  I want to display Name [Textbox] Age: [Textbox] BlahBlahCatfish: [Textbox] but if I simply plonk the code in, it gets lined up exactly as its lined up above. What I want is for it to be lined up like this: Name: [Textbox] Age: [Textbox] BlahBlahCatfish: [Textbox] Ordinarly I would use a Table but I am trying to get out of that habit and use lovely CSS. Ideas of how to do this without billions of divs and stuff?

• mySQL convert varchar to date

  I need to convert a varchar value of 1/9/2011 to a date in mySQL and I want only the month and year. So that I can then use the PERIOD_DIFF function (so I would need the above to be converted to 201101). I've tried various ways using the STR_TO_DATE function: SELECT STR_TO_DATE(CYOApp_oilChangedDate, '%m/%Y') FROM CYO_AppInfo But I get weird results... (for example: 2009-01-00) What am I doing incorrectly?

In the example URL above, the placeholder word example might be numbers too from time to time but in that case it shouldn't be matched. Only the numbers between /url/ and /test. Thanks!

IF you see the 1st box that is where the image and other features are displayed. the width of the box is differently shown in IE and FF. in IE the right hand side is getting cut off.

In my little asp.net/C#/ EF4.0 app I can write them either way, and as far as how I want to use them, they both work, but there has to be a reason why I would choose one over the other?

If it contains single quotes or line breaks or others, the above code will break. And I do not have access to the server-side code. What's the easiest way to "escape" the contents of $str_from_server into a javascript string, and then it can be restored later?

• Why is T() = T() allowed in C++?

  I believe the expression T() creates an rvalue (by the Standard) However the following code compiles (at least on gcc4.0) class T {... }; int main() { T() = T(); } I know technically this is possible because member functions can be invoked on temporaries and the above is just invoking the operator= on the r-value temporary created from T(). But conceptually this is like assigning a new value to an r-value. Is there a good reason why this is allowed?

• SEHException External component has thrown exception in VS2005

  Hello! I imported inpout32.dll to the program and tried to do the parallel port interfacing for outputting and inputting through the port.   I have a bunch of input text boxes that have the attribute ORIGINAL set to their initial value, so that when the user changes the textbox value, jQuery can highlight items that have changed (by comparing the text box's current value to the ORIGINAL attribute's value) What Im trying to do now is provide the user with a button that they can click to revert all text boxes back to their original values based on the value of the ORIGINAL attribute of each text box. Example $('input[type=text]').val($(this).attr('original')); The above doesnt work and I dont understand why.
