  • How to install Reddit Open Source on a web server

    I have been playing around with the Reddit open source software and have been getting no where fast. I was wondering if anybody can instruct me on how to install the software on a web server. I know how to install normal php scripts etc, but I've never installed a software such as a python or rails script before. I'm not very good with commands but I know how to run them.   • LaTex, Problem with Beamer and Listings

    Hi, I'm trying to add some code in a presentation made with LaTex. I used beamer, added some frames without problems but once I add the listing, I can't compile the presentation anymore. \begin{frame}{Code} \begin{lstlisting} Sample Code \end{lstlisting} \end{frame} The error I pdflatex gave me is: Package Listings Warning: Text dropped after begin of listing on input line 80. Is there anything special to add to make it work ? Thanks

  • How do I increase copy/paste buffer size in Linux

    Hi all, I'm trying to copy and paste lines of code to the linux terminal. However, I've noticed that when the copied text is too long (let's say, 60 or more lines), it gets trimmed and altered in an apparently random way (e.g. some characters missing). I found the same problem in Ubuntu Karmic Koala, Fedora 10 and Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope. Any clue why this happens and if I can increase the size of safely copy/pasteable text? Thanks!

  • Trouble registering punycode domain!

    Not sure if any of you have experience with this, but I am trying to include the anchor (?) in my domain name (using the appropriate punycode to allow it) but upon registering it I encounter the error that the symbol is not supported by the language I have chosen.     What roles do the Xorg server and a window manager, for example, metacity, play in displaying windows? Does the window manager communicate with the OS or Xorg? Does Xorg then use OpenGl to display things? Can someone explain what exactly the Xorg server does, and what exactly the window manager does, and the differences between the two.     I have Windows 7 x64 (built 7600). I just installed Firefox 3.6 and I set it as my default browser, upon I've set that all of my HTML files were been without any icons! Could you please guide me how I can fix HTML files' icons when FF3.6 is my default browser? Thanks. P.S: Whenever I set IE8 as my default browser the HTML files' icons were fixed.

    I have two internet connections - one via a 3G modem, and the other via wireless. The modem is faster so I normally browse with it, but it does not support torrent downloads while my wireless does. When the two are connected, my PC automatically makes every connection through the modem. Is there a way I can force a particular program, eg. uTorrent to browse through my wireless internet connection instead? Thanks.

The problem is that those files are owned by different users, so it needs to be executed as root. I tried the SUID so that any users with X permission can execute the script as root, but seems that it doesn't work with a bash script because of security issue. How can I do that ? thanks.

    Hi, I need to install a pair of 1Tb disks into a server that has a hardware RAID card. How long is it likely to take to configure the RAID controller - sticking the disks in is only a 5 minute job, but is there likely to be significant downtime while both disks mirror (even though they are both blank)? Am I looking at 10 minutes over all, or more like 2 hours for this to happen? Thanks

The computer running DPM crashed and is not allowing me to restore the backup. However, i still have all the backups as partitions.
