Something make all browsers on any operating system or computer of my home network to open randomly some web pages and ask to install a microsoft protection of some kind, what could do that ???
I want to connect to my vmware vm from home.
To work network i'm connecting through VPN.
VM sits on one of the workstations (can connect to it through RDC).
Any tips how to do that? What software do i need (got VMWare workstation atm)?
p.s. i'm quite a newbie at this.
I have iGoogle as my home page. Every time that I start up Firefox with the intent to go to a specific page, I end up typing half the URL in the Google search box when iGoogle steals focus away from the URL bar. Is there any way to hack Firefox (or iGoogle) to keep the page from stealing my cursor on load? Thanks!
What would be the best way to transfer 4.4 GB of user images to S3?
I would prefer to somehow directly trasnfer images from my current production server to a S3 bucket and without having to download images to my home mahchine first and then upload it to a S3 bucket.
Thanks.
I have to run this command to initialize gitosis:
sudo -H -u git gitosis-init < /home/ec2-user/id_rsa.pub
But that asks me for a password for ec2-user:
$ sudo -H -u git gitosis-init < id_rsa.pub
[sudo] password for ec2-user:
I do not have a password as i use the default .pem key file to login.
I know i can probably login as the git user and do this, but is there any other way?
Update:
Using Linux AMI 12.09 (micro-instance), in region us-east-1 (N. Virginia)
I recently uninstalled an older version of WAMP then installed the latest version. The link to the localhost displays the WAMPSERVER home page successfully. However, the http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ returns only a blank browser - it displays nothing.
localhost/sqlitemanager/ returns a Forbidden You don't have permission to access /sqlitemanager/ on this server. This seems to be a 403 forbidden error
I've looked everywhere for an answer to this. Help please
Hello,
I have bought a boxed version of Windows 7 Home Premium (not OEM). I want to install this on new iMac via bootcamp but I also want to use this Bootcamped partition via VMWare Fusion.
VMWare fusion has article about activating bootcamped windows installation.
Does this work setup work for you? Is it even legal according to license?
I got this old box with windows xp home. It works perfectly, except the occasional blue-screen when shutting down the machine.
How long should I expect this, or any, machine to work, when will the hardware start failing and should I worry about silly things like upgrading the os?
What is the TTL on HW you purchase today?
We suppose to use a brand-x keyboard at office, my laptop is Lenovo, home PC is dell. I often struggle to type faster in every keyboard. How do you manage it?
I've got a client who wants to move his companies servers off site. As he is only a 10 person company I'm looking for some pretty in-expensive options. One option is the smallest of the Amazon cloud machines. The question becomes can I make one of these machines a domain controller?
Cost wise the Amazon machine is cheaper than the power costs of keeping a server (or a PC) up and running in his home office 24x7 thanks to the high cost of power in Southern California.
Is there a way to automatically create an odd-numbers list in Word 2007 without having to manually change each line number by using the "Set Numbering Value" menu item in the Paragraph section of the Home ribbon?
There are some exe and dll files belonging to some programs on my laptop which communicate with the internet without my permission (for self-update generally). I want to prevent those files one by one from accessing the internet. I don't want to install any external firewalls. I'm using Windows 7 Home Pro and if this can be done by Windows Firewall, it's OK. I took a look at Windows Firewall but couldn't find a setting to disable file access.

I use Firefox as my browser of choice but my computer came with Internet Explorer pre-installed.
Is it safe to remove Internet Explorer from my computer completely or will this cause any problems?
Hi,
How can I configure windows to use a USB modem like I can do it on linux (http://forumz.in/1799-how-use-reliance-broadband-netconnect-ubuntu-linux/)
I need to bypass the std dialer software provided by the vendor, its exceptionally buggy/irksome and not easy to automate.
EDIT:
OS: Windows Vista (Home basic)
Modem: ZTE AC871 or may be AC8710
I'm on vacation and need to run a GUI program on my Mac at home. I can get to a console through SSH, but otherwise the machine is behind a firewall. How can I...
Enable VNC from the command line
Tunnel that through SSH to my MacBook
Thanks!
System: Windows 7 Home Premium
IE: 11.0.9600.17107
When I have had many, many apps and windows open, sometimes I'll try to access a folder and get a dialog that says "System Call Failed". I have found the fix for it is to open the task manager and End Process Tree on iexplore.exe and iexplore.exe *32. Often times there will be several of these even when I have closed all my browser windows.
Does anyone have any experience with this error?
I'm away from my home office fairly regularly but I find it difficult to really settle to productive coding without my custom 4-screen custom built PC. My laptop (a slightly ageing HP Pavilion with a 1440 x 900 display) would really benefit from a portable monitor to plug into the vga port.
Is there any suitable products out there which offer an easily luggable lightweight monitor which would fit in my laptop, offer reasonable resolution and response, and significantly enhance my screen real-estate?
How to assign my email address to a key combination (Ctrl + F10) so that I do not have to repeatedly type the address. The Windows system is Vista Home Premium.
I'm planning to use OpenVZ in an old machine I have at home.
I want to know if a dumped OpenVZ instance image can be exported to other formats (like VirtualBox or Vmware).
Thanks!
I would like to have one of my PCs available to the rest of my home network for file sharing and VNC access, but I want to block any Internet traffic going to and from the PC. In other words, I want all local PCs I have connected to the router functioning as any normal LAN would, but when it comes to the Internet I want one particular PC to be "safe" from the Internet. My guess is that this is some sort of port blocking or some other router function, but I'm not quite sure.
Hi,
I have install svn on ubuntu 9.10. But when I try to use svn to checkout code for an open source project, i get this error:
$ svn co svn://svn.valgrind.org/valgrind/trunk valgrind
svn: Berkeley DB error for filesystem '/home/svn/repos/valgrind/db' while opening 'nodes' table:
Cannot allocate memory
svn: bdb: Lock table is out of available locker entries
Can you please tell me how to fix it?
Thank you.
Hey guys,
I have a .bat file, which contains the following contents
...
jar cfm myjar.jar manifest.txt *.class
...
Which executes well under windows command prompt, but when executed under cygwin, I get the following
C:\cygwin\home\user\path\to\folderjar cfm myjar.jar manifest.txt *.class
Access is denied.
I tried starting cygwin as administrator, but it does not help
Would appreciate any suggestions
Thanks
