  • Faster integer division when denominator is known?

    hi I am working on GPU device which has very high division integer latency, several hundred cycles. I am looking to optimize divisions. All divisions by denominator which is in a set { 1,3,6,10 }, however numerator is a runtime positive value, roughly 32000 or less. due to memory constraints, lookup table is not option. Can you think of alternatives? I have thought of computing float point inverses, and using those to multiply numerator. Thanks

  • set windows PATH environment variable at runtime in Java

    I have a java program that fires off an executable using the Runtime.exec() method. I'm using the variant that takes in a set of command line params as one argument, and some environment variables as another argument. The environment variable I'm tryign to set is path, so i'm passing in "PATH=C:\some\path". This does not work. Is there some trick to this or any alternatives. I am stuck to Java 1.4 unfortunately.

    are there any alternatives to Xpath ? need to locate and extract specific element's texts for web scraping project. xpath seem pretty limited against layout changes on web pages. slight shuffle, and xpath no longer works. also different browsers have different Xpaths as i discovered. Firefox automatically adds tbody after table, while IE doesn't and so on.

I tried John's micro-templating but ran into a few issues, wanted to see if there are more baked / better packaged solutions out there. Around 2005-2007 verything seemed to be programmed by hand, C, etc. Afterwards new unifying alternatives emerged like CUDA for GPU and lastly OpenCL.     Hi folks, I've built a web application with Django, I'm using Memcached in order to cache data. A few views cache the whole HttpResponse objects, therefore there might be a better alternative for returning the Memcached data other than going through Django. What could be faster alternatives for returning Memcached data on HTTP Requests ? I'm trying to make the operation as fast and lightweight as possible. Help would be much appreciated! :)

Codeproject.com has this tutorial, but it requires you to have the full version of Acrobat. Is there an open source alternative that's geared for ASP.NET?
