  • Keeping Track of Dependant Third-party Library Releases

    - by Sonny
I am building a web application that is dependent upon several third-party libraries. What is a good strategy for making sure that you're always using the most fully patched versions? A simple method would be to keep the versions written down and visit the websites at regular intervals, but I am looking for some way to get the information 'pushed' to me if possible. I figured that there might be others out there who have needed to do the same thing and have worked out a good solution. Here are a few libraries I am using: Zend Framework jQuery HTMLPurifier Markdownify InnovaStudio WYSIWYG Editor Fancybox MojoZoom

  • ASP.NET: how can I compile in DEBUG mode?

    - by Budda
AFAIK, usual ASP.NET web site/web application switched on into DEBUG mode when web/app-config setting "compilation" has debug="false". But I don't clearly understand how it works. Let's consider example: I have <compilation debug="true" />. I've added the following line into "Page_Load" method: System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("Page_Load"); When I launched web-site in 'debug' mode (using F5 button) It put me 'Page_Load' into output window. Everything is ok so far. When I change application compilation mode into non-debug: Will it recompile everything for 'non-debug' mode? Is this enough to go into "production" environment with this change only? I guess, it should be enough for web-site that doesn't use other project. Otherwise, I would better switch whole configuration into "Release" mode. In this case EACH project will be recompiled in "Release" mode. Am I right? Could you please point me if something is wrong here? Thanks a lot!

  • How to format dates in Jahia 6 CMS?

    - by dpb
I am helping a friend of mine put up a site for his business. I’ve read different posts and sites trying to find the ideal CMS tool, but people have different views of what is the best, so I finally just picked one of them at random. So I went for an evaluation of Jahia 6.0-CE. As you’ve probably guessed by now, I don’t have so much experience with CMS tools. I just want to setup the CMS, write the templates for the site and let my friend manage the content from there on. So I extracted the sources from SVN and went for a test drive. I managed to create some simple templates to get a hang of things but now I have an issue with a date format. In my definitions.cnd I declared the field like so: date myDateField (datetimepicker[format='dd.MM.yyyy']) This is formatted in the page and the selector also presents this in the dd.MM.yyyy format when inserting the content. But how about sites in other countries, countries that represent the date as MM.dd.yyyy for example? If I specify the format in the CND, hard coded, how can I change this later on so that it adapts based on the browser’s language? Do I extract the content from the repository and format it by hand in the JSP template based on a Locale, or is there a better way? Thank you.

  • Question about memory usage

    - by sudo rm -rf
Hi there. I have the following method: +(NSMutableDictionary *)getTime:(float)lat :(float)lon { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSMutableDictionary *dictionary = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; [dictionary setObject:hour forKey:@"hour"]; [dictionary setObject:minute forKey:@"minute"]; [dictionary setObject:ampm forKey:@"ampm"]; return dictionary; } A lot of the method is chopped off, so I think I need the pool for some other stuff in the method. Here's my question. I know that I need to release the following objects: [dictionary release]; [pool release]; However, I can't release the dictionary before I return it, but as soon as I return it the rest of the method isn't performed. What should I do?

  • NSMutableArray for Object which has NSString property causes memory leak

    - by user262325
Hello everyone I hope to add objects to a NSMutableArray "myArray", The NSMutableArray is the array for FileObj which has a NSString property "fileName" #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface FileObj : NSObject { NSString *fileName; } -(void) setfileName:(NSString *)s ; -(NSString *) getfileName ; @end // // File.m// #import "File.h" @implementation FileObj -(void) setfileName:(NSString *)s ; { fileName=s; } -(NSString *) getfileName ; { return fileName; } @end I initialize the myArray here: NSMutableArray *temarray; temarray=[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; self.myArray=temarray; [temarray release]; the codes to add object to myArray FileObj *newobj=[[FileObj alloc]init ]; NSString *fieldValue2 = [[NSString alloc] initWithUTF8String:@"aaaa"]; [newobj setfileName:fieldValue2]; [myArray addObject:newobj]; [fieldValue2 release]; //**if I enabled the line, it will cause crash** //**if I disable the line, it will cause memory leak** [newobj release]; Welcome any comment Thanks interdev

  • Changing pointer of self

    - by rob5408
I have an object that I alloc/init like normal just to get a instance. Later in my application I want to load state from disk for that object. I figure I could unarchive my class (which conforms to NSCoding) and just swap where my instance points to. To this end I use this code... NSString* pathForDataFile = [self pathForDataFile]; if([[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:pathForDataFile] == YES) { NSLog(@"Save file exists"); NSData *data = [[NSMutableData alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:pathForDataFile]; NSKeyedUnarchiver *unarchiver = [[NSKeyedUnarchiver alloc] initForReadingWithData:data]; [data release]; Person *tempPerson = [unarchiver decodeObjectForKey:@"Person"]; [unarchiver finishDecoding]; [unarchiver release]; if (tempPerson) { [self release]; self = [tempPerson retain]; } } Now when I sprinkled some NSLogs throughout my application I noticed self.person: <Person: 0x3d01a10> (After I create the object with alloc/init) self: <Person: 0x3d01a10> (At the start of this method) tempPerson: <Person: 0x3b1b880> (When I create the tempPerson) self: <Person: 0x3b1b880> (after i point self to the location of the tempPerson) self.person: <Person: 0x3d01a10> (After the method back in the main program) What am I missing?

  • iphone: memory problems after refactor

    - by agilpwc
I had a NIB with several view controllers in it. I modified the code and used Interface Builder decomose interface to get all the view controllers in their own Nib. But now with empty core data database, I'm getting "message sent to deallocated instance" errors. Here is the code flow: From the RootViewController this is called: if (self.dogController == nil) { DogViewController *controller = [[DogViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"DogViewController" bundle:nil]; self.dogController = controller; [controller release]; } self.dogController.managedObjectContext = self.managedObjectContext; [self.navigationController pushViewController:self.dogController animated:YES]; Then in a dogController a button is pressed to insert a new object and the following code is excuted and the error hits on the save, according to the trace NSManagedObjectContext *context = [self.fetchedResultsController managedObjectContext]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [[self.fetchedResultsController fetchRequest] entity]; NSManagedObject *newManagedObject = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:[entity name] inManagedObjectContext:context]; // If appropriate, configure the new managed object. [newManagedObject setValue:[NSDate date] forKey:@"birthDate"]; [newManagedObject setValue:@"-" forKey:@"callName"]; // Save the context. NSError *error = nil; if (![context save:&error]) { Then the error produced in the console is * -[JudgeViewController numberOfSectionsInTableView:]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x598e580 I'm racking my brain for hours and I can't figure out where my minor changes made something messed up. Any ideas?

  • Deleting Part of An Array in Java to Free Memory on Heap

    - by kate
I am implementing a dynamic programming algorithm for the knapsack problem in Java. I declare the array and then initialize its size to be [number of objects][capacity of knapsack]. When my number of objects or my capacity gets too large, I get a memory error because I run out of space on the heap. My questions is: If I delete rows from my double array as I go along, will Java free the memory as I delete? Or does Java reserve that memory space for the size of the array I originally created? If it's the latter, is there a way to manually free the memory in Java? Thanks for your Help!

  • Memory allocation patterns in C++

    - by Mahatma
I am confused about the memory allocation in C++ in terms of the memory areas such as Const data area, Stack, Heap, Freestore, Heap and Global/Static area. I would like to understand the memory allocation pattern in the following snippet. Can anyone help me to understand this. If there any thing more apart from the variable types mentioned in the example to help understand the concept better please alter the example. class FooBar { int n; //Stored in stack? public: int pubVar; //stored in stack? void foo(int param) //param stored in stack { int *pp = new int; //int is allocated on heap. n = param; static int nStat; //Stored in static area of memory int nLoc; //stored in stack? string str = "mystring"; //stored in stack? .. if(CONDITION) { static int nSIf; //stored in static area of memory int loopvar; //stored in stack .. } } } int main(int) { Foobar bar; //bar stored in stack? or a part of it? Foobar *pBar; //pBar is stored in stack pBar = new Foobar(); //the object is created in heap? What part of the object is stored on heap } EDIT: What confuses me is, if pBar = new Foobar(); stores the object on the heap, how come int nLoc; and int pubVar;, that are components of the object stored on stack? Sounds contradictory to me. Shouldn't the lifetime of pubvar and pBar be the same?

  • Qt releasing memory occopied by unneeded images

    - by Gerhman
I have a QML Flickable with 3 QML image elements that cycle through 8 image files. My problem is for each new image it loads into memory it does not release the the unused image. This is causing memory usage to become double what is necessary at times. I would like to know if there is some function I can use to force it to unload all the unused images? If it makes a difference, this is mainly for Symbian.

  • Instance of method leaking, iPhone

    - by Wolfert
The following method shows up as leaking while performing a memory-leaks test with Instruments: - (NSDictionary*) initSigTrkLstWithNiv:(int)pm_SigTrkNiv SigTrkSig:(int)pm_SigTrkSig SigResIdt:(int)pm_SigResIdt SigResVal:(int)pm_SigResVal { NSArray *objectArray; NSArray *keyArray; if (self = [super init]) { self.SigTrkNiv = [NSNumber numberWithInt:pm_SigTrkNiv]; self.SigTrkSig = [NSNumber numberWithInt:pm_SigTrkSig]; self.SigResIdt = [NSNumber numberWithInt:pm_SigResIdt]; self.SigResVal = [NSNumber numberWithInt:pm_SigResVal]; objectArray = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:SigTrkNiv,SigTrkSig,SigResIdt,SigResVal, nil]; keyArray = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"SigTrkNiv", @"SigTrkSig", @"SigResIdt", @"SigResVal", nil]; self = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjects:objectArray forKeys:keyArray]; } return self; } code that invokes the instance: NSDictionary *lv_SigTrkLst = [[SigTrkLst alloc]initSigTrkLstWithNiv:[[tempDict objectForKey:@"SigTrkNiv"] intValue] SigTrkSig:[[tempDict objectForKey:@"SigTrkSig"] intValue] SigResIdt:[[tempDict objectForKey:@"SigResIdt"] intValue] SigResVal:[[tempDict objectForKey:@"SigResVal"] intValue]]; [[QBDataContainer sharedDataContainer].SigTrkLstArray addObject:lv_SigTrkLst]; [lv_SigTrkLst release]; Instruments informs that 'SigTrkLst' is leaking. Even though I have released the instance? (I know that adding it to the array increments the retainCount by 1 but releasing it twice removes it from the array?)

  • Iterate attributes and IBOutlets of a UIViewController

    - by Espuz
I've a generic UIViewController on my app. All the UIViewController on the app inherits from this generic one. I'm trying to automate the deallocation and releasing of attributes and IBOutlets as properties. I'm doing the first (attributes) on dealloc method and the second (IBOutlets as properties) on viewDidUnload. - (void) dealloc { [_att1 release]; _att1 = nil; [_att2 release]; _att2 = nil; // ... } - (void) viewDidUnload { self.att1 = nil; // att1 is an IBOutlet self.att2 = nil; // att2 is an IBOutlet // ... } Is there any way to iterate all my attributes and IBOutlets to simplify this operations? I want to avoid do it for each outlet and attribute and delegate it to the generic UIViewController. Thanks.

  • using arrays to get best memory alignment and cache use, is it necessary?

    - by Alberto Toglia
I'm all about performance these days cause I'm developing my first game engine. I'm no c++ expert but after some research I discovered the importance of the cache and the memory alignment. Basically what I found is that it is recommended to have memory well aligned specially if you need to access them together, for example in a loop. Now, In my project I'm doing my Game Object Manager, and I was thinking to have an array of GameObjects references. meaning I would have the actual memory of my objects one after the other. static const size_t MaxNumberGameObjects = 20; GameObject mGameObjects[MaxNumberGameObjects]; But, as I will be having a list of components per object -Component based design- (Mesh, RigidBody, Transformation, etc), will I be gaining something with the array at all? Anyway, I have seen some people just using a simple std::map for storing game objects. So what do you guys think? Am I better off using a pure component model?

  • Can I use MFC objects in STL containers?

    - by Jesse Stimpson
The following code doesn't compile for me in MSVC2005: std::vector<CMenu> vec(10); CMenu is an MFC menu object (such as a context menu). Through some testing I learned that CMenu does not have a public copy constructor. To do what I wanted to do, I needed to use a dynamic array. CMenu* menus = new CMenu[10]; // ... delete [] menus; Of course, now I've lost all the benefits of using an STL container. Do I have any other options?

  • TFS vs SVN

    - by Binoj Antony
I am about to start a project (.NET) and need to decide between TFS and SVN. I am more used to SVN(with tortoise client), CVS and VSS. Does TFS have all features available in SVN Have any of you switched from SVN to TFS and found it worthwhile? Also it looks like we may need Visual Studio if we need to work with TFS. [Edit] Money is not a consideration since we already have the licenses for TFS in place. And I am more interested in the Source Control features of TFS vs SVN, of course other features list is also welcome.

  • Source code dependency manager for C++

    - by 7vies
There are already some questions about dependency managers here, but it seems to me that they are mostly about build systems, while I am looking for something targeted purely at making dependency tracking and resolution simpler (and I'm not necessarily interested in learning a new build system). So, typically we have a project and some common code with another project. This common code is organized as a library, so when I want to get the latest code version for a project, I should also go get all the libraries from the source control. To do this, I need a list of dependencies. Then, to build the project I can reuse this list too. I've looked at Maven and Ivy, but I'm not sure if they would be appropriate for C++, as they look quite heavily java-targeted (even though there might be plugins for C++, I haven't found people recommending them). I see it as a GUI tool producing some standardized dependency list which can then be parsed by different scripts etc. It would be nice if it could integrate with source control (tag, get a tagged version with dependencies etc), but that's optional. Would you have any suggestions? Maybe I'm just missing something, and usually it's done some other way with no need for such a tool? Thanks.

  • sqlite eatingup memory on iPhone when doing insert

    - by kviksilver
    I am having problem with inserting data to sqlite database. char *update="INSERT OR REPLACE INTO ct_subject (id,id_parent, title, description, link, address, phone, pos_lat, pos_long, no_votes, avg_vote, photo, id_comerc, id_city, placement, type, timestamp, mail) VALUES (?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?);"; sqlite3_stmt *stmt; if(sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, update, -1, &stmt, nil) == SQLITE_OK){ sqlite3_bind_int(stmt, 1, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"id"] intValue]); sqlite3_bind_int(stmt, 2, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"id_parent"] intValue]); sqlite3_bind_text(stmt, 3, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"title"] UTF8String], -1, NULL); sqlite3_bind_text(stmt, 4, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"description"] UTF8String], -1, NULL); sqlite3_bind_text(stmt, 5, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"link"] UTF8String], -1, NULL); sqlite3_bind_text(stmt, 6, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"address"] UTF8String], -1, NULL); sqlite3_bind_text(stmt, 7, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"phone"] UTF8String], -1, NULL); sqlite3_bind_text(stmt, 8, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"pos_lat"] UTF8String], -1, NULL); sqlite3_bind_text(stmt, 9, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"pos_long"] UTF8String], -1, NULL); sqlite3_bind_int(stmt, 10, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"no_votes"] intValue]); sqlite3_bind_text(stmt, 11, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"avg_vote"] UTF8String], -1, NULL); if ([[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"photo"] length]!=0) { NSMutableString *webUrl = (NSMutableString *)[[NSMutableString alloc] initWithString:@"http://www.crotune.com/public/images/subjects/"]; [webUrl appendString:[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"photo"]]; UIImage *myImage = [self getWebImage:webUrl]; if(myImage != nil){ sqlite3_bind_blob(stmt, 12, [UIImagePNGRepresentation(myImage) bytes], [UIImagePNGRepresentation(myImage) length], NULL); } else { sqlite3_bind_blob(stmt, 12, nil, -1, NULL); } [webUrl release]; [myImage release]; } else { sqlite3_bind_blob(stmt, 12, nil, -1, NULL); //NSLog(@" ne dodajem sliku2"); } sqlite3_bind_int(stmt, 13, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"id_comerc"] intValue]); sqlite3_bind_int(stmt, 14, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"id_city"] intValue]); sqlite3_bind_int(stmt, 15, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"placement"] intValue]); sqlite3_bind_int(stmt, 16, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"type"] intValue]); sqlite3_bind_int(stmt, 17, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"timestamp"] intValue]); sqlite3_bind_text(stmt, 18, [[[newCategories objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"mail"] UTF8String], -1, NULL); } if (sqlite3_step(stmt) != SQLITE_DONE) { NSLog(@"%s", sqlite3_errmsg(database)); NSAssert1(0,@"nemogu updateat table %s", errorMsg); } else { NSLog(@"Ubacio %d",i); }sqlite3_finalize(stmt); What happens is that it starts to eat memory until it finaly quits... On memory warning i close and open database again, I have set cache size to 50 as mentioned in some posts here, and tried putting query into statement - same result.. it just garbles mamory and app quits after 300 inserts on iphone or somewhere around 900 inserts on iPad... Any help would be appreciated..

  • What is the correct way to open and close window/dialog?

    - by mree
I'm trying to develop a new program. The work flow looks like this: Login --> Dashboard (Window with menus) --> Module 1 --> Module 2 --> Module 3 --> Module XXX So, to open Dashboard from Login (a Dialog), I use Dashboard *d = new Dashboard(); d->show(); close(); In Dashboard, I use these codes to reopen the Login if the user closes the Window (by clicking the 'X') closeEvent(QCloseEvent *) { Login *login = new Login(); login->show(); } With a Task Manager opened, I ran the program and monitor the memory usage. After clicking open Dashboard from Login and closing Dashboard to return to Login, I noticed that the memory keeps increasing about 500 KB. It can goes up to 20 MB from 12 MB of memory usage by just opening and closing the window/dialog. So, what did I do wrong here ? I need to know it before I continue developing those modules which will definitely eat more memory with my programming. Thanks in advance.
