  • WPF Binding KeyDown event to Command

    - by Daniil Harik
    Hello, I want to bind KeyDown event handler (when user presses Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V) on Telerik's GridView to RelayCommand object in my ViewModel. I know about this post http://blog.functionalfun.net/2008/09/hooking-up-commands-to-events-in-wpf.html But I'm still bit confused about implementation of my scenario. I just don't understand how it works. Could someone point out how should my scenario be implemented. Thank You very much!

  • Why is it 8 here,understanding buffer overflow

    - by Mask
    void function(int a, int b, int c) { char buffer1[5]; char buffer2[10]; int *ret; ret = buffer1 + 12; (*ret) += 8;//why is it 8?? } void main() { int x; x = 0; function(1,2,3); x = 1; printf("%d\n",x); } The above demo is from here: http://insecure.org/stf/smashstack.html But it's not working here: D:\test>gcc -Wall -Wextra hw.cpp && a.exe hw.cpp: In function `void function(int, int, int)': hw.cpp:6: warning: unused variable 'buffer2' hw.cpp: At global scope: hw.cpp:4: warning: unused parameter 'a' hw.cpp:4: warning: unused parameter 'b' hw.cpp:4: warning: unused parameter 'c' 1 And I don't understand why it's 8 though the author thinks: A little math tells us the distance is 8 bytes.

  • Starting an animation from the ViewModel in WPF/MVVM

    - by RandomEngy
    I'm writing a MVVM app and have started putting in a few animations. I want to call something on the ViewModel which starts the a storyboard. This blog had a promising approach to it, but it doesn't actually work. The IDChanged handler never fires for some reason. I also found that you could start animations on EventTriggers, but I don't know how to raise one on the ViewModel.

  • LINQ to SQL SOUNDEX - possible?

    - by Steve Hayes
    Hello, I have done a little bit of research on this and looked through a few articles both here on StackOverflow as well as some blog posts, but haven't found an exact answer. I also read that it is possible to do it using the 4.0 framework, but have yet to find any supporting evidence. So my question, is it possible to perform SOUNDEX via a LINQ to SQL Query?

  • Latex "/indent" creating paragraph indentation / tabbing package requirement?

    - by Pareshkumar C. Brahmbhatt
    The Latex code provided below shows the usage of the command "\indent" as it appears in the document,but it does not produce the desired indentation within the document. Is there a specific package associated with the command "\indent" or "\="? I am asking for a step by step method of producing an indentation within a document for only one paragraph, regardless of location within the document. \documentclass[12pt]{article} \usepackage{graphicx} \topmargin -3.5cm \oddsidemargin -0.04cm \evensidemargin -0.04cm \textwidth 16.59cm \textheight 21.94cm \parskip 7.2pt \parindent 8pt \title{Physics} \author{Pareshkumar Brahmbhatt} \date{March 17, 2010} \begin{document} \maketitle \indent Now we are engaged in a great civil war. \end{document}

  • Good Delphi Blogs?

    - by Andreas Rejbrand
    I just saw http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~rkennedy/ which appears to be a very interesting in-depth blog about the Delphi programming language, compiler, and IDE. At the more basic level we also have the About site, and DelphiBasics. You can also have fun for a few minutes at http://www.scalabium.com/faq/dc_tips.htm. What are the most interesting blogs and sites devoted to Delphi? I am in particular interested in content at the advanced level.

  • appointments scheduler managment with asp.net MVC

    - by Alexandre Jobin
    I'm building an Appointments Scheduler manager on asp.net mvc. My requirements are: The administrator will add timeslot appointments to the calendar for each persons in the company who can receive a client The client can search online for available timeslot appointments and can make a reservation Idealy, the UI can show the appointsments by days/weeks or agenda style Is there any asp.net mvc control that can do this. Or any tutorials that can inspire me of how I can do this? For now, I've found the jQuery Week Calendar but I'm not sure it will answer all my needs and the author has stopped the development of the project. Thank you very much for the help!

  • Privilege Elevation only when and if required.

    - by Cameron Peters
    My application only very occasionally requires privilege elevation... I need to reference some 3rd party COM components that only work correctly when run as administrator. I would like my application to request privilege elevation only when it needs it... Generally, I don't want my application to run as administrator unless I need to use the 3rd party COM components. I see that CoCreateAsAdmin could potentially solve the problem, but the component author doesn't set up the required registry entries, and I'm not sure how to use CoCreateAsAdmin in C# and in conjuction with Runtime-Callable-Wrapper that is created by tlbimp. Another solution would be to spawn another process, but I have no experience with this yet... I don't want to create a completely separate application... I would be happy to create an assembly that runs in a separated elevated process if someone can show me how to make it work. Thanks...

  • How to escape % in roxygen literate programming?

    - by Karsten W.
    The default value of a parameter of my function contains a "%". This seems to be a problem for roxygen, it produces a lot of warnings and R CMD check fails when trying to build latex documentation. How can I make this function (and its documentation) work? Using %% or \% instead of % does not help. #' Test escape \% from in-source documentation (roxygen). #' #' What happens when parameters contain special latex characters? #' #' @param x unsuspicious parameter #' @param format sprintf format string (default "\%5.0f") #' #' @return formatted string #' @export #' @author Karsten Weinert testroxy <- function(x, format = "%5.0f") { sprintf(format,x) }

  • Positioning 1px off in Safari/Mac but works on Safari/Windows

    - by McGirl
    I'm beating my head against a wall on this one; the logo image ("It's All About Revenue") shifts up by one pixel in Safari on Mac, but renders correctly in all other browser/OS combinations I've been able to test. Does anyone have any ideas on why this might be? Here's the site: http://blog.eloqua.com/ Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Fluid CSS: floating column with max-width and overflow

    - by Ates Goral
    I'm using a fluid layout in the new theme that I'm working on for my blog. I often blog about code and include <pre> blocks within the posts. The float: left column for the content area has a max-width so that the column stops at a certain maximum width and can also be shrunk: +----------+ +------+ | text | | text | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | +----------+ +------+ max shrunk What I want is for the <pre> elements to be wider than the text column so that I can fit 80-character-wrapped code without horizontal scroll bars. But I want the <pre> elements to overflow from the content area, without affecting its fluidity: +----------+ +------+ | text | | text | | | | | +----------+--+ +------+------+ | code | | code | +----------+--+ +------+------+ | | | | +----------+ +------+ max shrunk But, max-width stops being fluid once I insert the overhanging <pre> in there: the width of the column remains at the specified max-width even when I shrink the browser beyond that width. I've reproduced the issue with this bare-minimum scenario: <div style="float: left; max-width: 460px; border: 1px solid red"> <p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit</p> <pre style="max-width: 700px; border: 1px solid blue"> function foo() { // Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit } </pre> <p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit</p> </div> I noticed that doing either of the following brings back the fluidity: Remove the <pre> (doh...) Remove the float: left The workaround I'm currently using is to insert the <pre> elements into "breaks" in the post column, so that the widths of the post segments and the <pre> segments are managed mutually exclusively: +----------+ +------+ | text | | text | +----------+ +------+ +-------------+ +-------------+ | code | | code | +-------------+ +-------------+ +----------+ +------+ +----------+ +------+ max shrunk But this forces me to insert additional closing and opening <div> elements into the post markup which I'd rather keep semantically pristine. Admittedly, I don't have a full grasp of how the box model works with floats with overflowing content, so I don't understand why the combination of float: left on the container and the <pre> inside it cripple the max-width of the container. I'm observing the same problem on Firefox/Chrome/Safari/Opera. IE6 (the crazy one) seems happy all the time. This also doesn't seem dependent on quirks/standards mode. Update I've done further testing to observe that max-width seems to get ignored when the element has a float: left. I glanced at the W3C box model chapter but couldn't immediately see an explicit mention of this behaviour. Any pointers?

  • Sourcecode for Paymentroll example in Robert C. Martin book

    - by bitbonk
    Throughout the book "Agile Principles, Patterns, and Practices in C#" by Robert C. Martin a small Paymentroll application is build. While most of the source code is printed in place, some classes are missing and some are incomplete. The book says on the firest page: The book includes many source code examples that are also available for download from the authors' Web site. Unfortunately this seems to be a lie. Unless either this is not the author's website (the book forgets to mention the authors website adress) or I am blind. Does anyone have the comlete source code for that book preferably in form of a Visual Studio project or knows where I can find it.

  • Cover flow in iPhone/iPad

    - by hgpc
    I use FlowCoverView (http://chaosinmotion.com/blog/?p=295) for cover flow, which I discovered through this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/767048/iphone-coverflow FlowCoverView last update was in mid-2009 and it's performance is not very good when the images are taken from the documents directory. Yet, there are lots of apps with cover flow. I was wondering if we all use FlowCoverView, or if there's is a better, maybe iPad-optimized solution that I haven't heard about yet. What do you use to implement cover flow in iPhone/iPad?

  • What is the difference between DVCS systems?

    - by Stephen
    What is the difference between DVCS systems? Seriously, wikipedia doesn't cover it well, and I read an article on HN recently comparing git and bzr in some detail, but the author admitted knowing little about mercurial, and the other options didn't get mentioned. (I'm happily using fossil on small win/mac/Linux projects) Please restrict answers to the DVCS aspects of the tool, e.g. The basic unit of vc in hit is the repository- in bazaar it is the branch(http://unspecified.wordpress.com/2010/03/26/why-git-aint-better-than-x/). bugtrackers and wikis are nice, but I'm really interested in the tools themselves, rather than any extras. Unfortunately SO demands a single 'right answer', so I'm making the question community wiki in the hope that users will contribute their knowledge.

  • The Programmer's Bill of Rights

    - by Martin
    I know Jeff has written about this subject on his coding horror blog in the past but I am interested in learning the opinions of a broad set of developers. I agree wholeheartedly with his statement: I propose we adopt a Programmer's Bill of Rights, protecting the rights of programmers by preventing companies from denying them the fundamentals they need to be successful. So, if you could propose one item to the bill of rights, what would it be?

  • iPhone HUD style progress bar

    - by Alexander
    I've been wanting to create a HUD style loading bar like the SMS app on the iPhone used to have (http://www.jonokane.com/images/blog/iphoneFixProblem.jpg) but don't know how. I was wondering if anyone has done this before or if there is a tutorial somewhere for it? I just think it looks so nice and would like to use it rather than the built in loading progress bar. Thanks a bunch!

  • How do I apply multiple rotation transforms on a Raphael text object?

    - by Pridkett
    I have a Raphael text object that I would like to rotate around an axis some distance away and also rotate the text accordingly so it stays horizontal. I know this is possible using SVG transformation matrices, but the author of Raphael has stated that they won't be a part of the toolkit anytime soon. Here's some code of what I'd like to do: txt_obj = paper.text(100, 0, "Hello!"); txt_obj.rotate(90, 100, 100); // rotate text so it is sideways at (200,100) txt_obj.rotate(-90); // rotate text back to horizontal Unfortunately, the second rotate command obliterates the translation and rotation accomplished by the first. Ideally I'd like to animate the operation, but I'll take it one step at a time for right now.
