  • WPF Binding.Stringformat ignored

    - by John
With .NET 3.5 SP 1 I checked out this blog and followed instructions, however the StringFormat parameter still gets ignored. Any possible reasons? To be sure: the datatype that are involved are DateTime, double, int. So the formatting SHOULD work, but it's not. Any clues why?

  • Latent Dirichlet Allocation, pitfalls, tips and programs

    - by Gregg Lind
I'm experimenting with Latent Dirichlet Allocation for topic disambiguation and assignment, and I'm looking for advice. Which program is the "best", where best is some combination of easiest to use, best prior estimation, fast How do I incorporate my intuitions about topicality. Let's say I think I know that some items in the corpus are really in the same category, like all articles by the same author. Can I add that into the analysis? Any unexpected pitfalls or tips I should know before embarking? I'd prefer is there are R or Python front ends for whatever program, but I expect (and accept) that I'll be dealing with C.

  • How to use prettify with blogger/blogspot?

    - by billpg
Hi everyone. I'm using blogger.com to host some texts on programming, and I'd like to use prettify (same as stackoverflow) to nicely colour the code samples. How do I install the prettify scripts into the blog domain? Would it be better (if indeed its possible) to link to a shared copy somewhere? I have webspace on a different domain. Would that help? Many thanks.

  • WPF 4, ListView and ListCollectionView custom sorting

    - by JustABill
I'm trying to use a custom sort with a ListView, as described in this blog entry. I'm doing ListCollectionView view = (ListCollectionView)CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(TheList.ItemsSource); as recommended there and in several other places, but for some reason I'm getting "Unable to cast object of type 'MS.Internal.Data.EnumerableCollectionView' to type 'System.Windows.Data.ListCollectionView'." (TheList is of type ListView). What could be causing this?

  • good/full Boot Spirit examples using version 2 syntax

    - by bpw1621
Almost all of the examples I've gone and looked at so far from: http://boost-spirit.com/repository/applications/show_contents.php use the old syntax. I've read and re-read the actual documentation at http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_42_0/libs/spirit/doc/html/index.html and the examples therein. I know Joel is starting a compiler series on the blog http://boost-spirit.com/home/ but that hasn't gotten in full swing yet. Any other resources to see worked examples using some more sophisticated/involved aspects in the context of fully working applications?

  • good books on numerical computation with C

    - by yCalleecharan
Hi, I've read the post "What is the best book on numerical methods?" and I wish to ask more or less the same question but in relation to C programming. Most of the time, C programming books on numerical methods are just another version of the author's previous Fortran book on the same subject. I've seen Applied numerical methods in C by Nakamura, Shoichiro and the C codes are not good programming practice. I've heard bad comments about Numerical Recipes by Press. Do you know good books on C that discusses numerical methods. It's seem better for me to ask about good books on C discussing numerical methods than rather asking books on numerical methods that discusses C. I've heard about Numerical Algorithms with C by Giesela Engeln-Müllges and A Numerical Library in C for Scientists and Engineers bu Lau but haven't read them. Good books will always have algorithms implemented in the programming language in a smart way. Thanks a lot...

  • OracleClient to devart dotConnect for Oracle

    - by lex9081
Has anyone tried migration from Microsoft OracleClient to dotConnect for Oracle? Is it realy so easy (as they wrote at their blog http://www.devart.com/blogs/dotconnect/?p=67) or just another marketing trick? I've tried ODP.NET, but it seems to me that its interface differs from the standard one.

  • Is there any good programming books forum out there?

    - by prosseek
I always feel the internet forums are a good way to gain knowledge - asking questions and get some answers from everybody, and SO is a great example. But when I get questions reading some programming books, I wonder to whom can I ask the questions. O'Reilly and PragProg have their own book forums, and some authors open their own forums. Or, we might be able to send an email to the author if that is absolutely necessary. Is there any good forum on programming books? Can you share any good programming book forums on the web? Or, is SO the best place to ask some questions in programming books? I found some book reading forums, but not programming books.

  • How can i bundle other files when using cx_freeze?

    - by Mridang Agarwalla
    I'm using Python 2.6 and cx_Freeze 4.1.2 on a Windows system. I've created the setup.py to build my executable and everything works fine. When cx_Freeze runs it movies everything to the build directory. I have some other files that i would like included in my build directory. How can i do this? Here's my structure. src\ setup.py janitor.py README.txt CHNAGELOG.txt helpers\ uncompress\ unRAR.exe unzip.exe Here's my snippet: setup ( name='Janitor', version='1.0', description='Janitor', author='John Doe', author_email='[email protected]', url='http://www.this-page-intentionally-left-blank.org/', data_files = [ ('helpers\uncompress', ['helpers\uncompress\unzip.exe']), ('helpers\uncompress', ['helpers\uncompress\unRAR.exe']), ('', ['README.txt']) ], executables = [ Executable\ ( 'janitor.py', #initScript ) ] ) I can't seem to get this to work. Do i need a MANIFEST.in file? Thank you.

  • SVN post commit stucks while starting process

    - by Oded
Hi, I've built a script in VS that receives the 2 arguments sent by post-commit hook. The script runs SVN LOG to retrieve data about the revision (author, date, files). When I run the solution from VS with constant vars for the arguments, it runs perfectly. When I execute the exe file, also runs perfectly. When I implement the hook script, it fails where it should read from the process. process.Start(); process.WaitForExit(); str = process.StandardOutput.ReadToEnd(); process.WaitForExit(); if (!process.HasExited) { try { process.Kill(); } catch (Exception e3) { // process is terminated } // Write Errors } Thanks. EDIT: The commit window stucks and never completes the commit. I write the code in C#.... there is no errors shown...

  • What is the correct pronunciation of Cocoa?

    - by Nathan S.
The question says it all: is it coke-ah, co-co, co-co-ah or something else entirely? I've read articles claiming different pronunciations, although there seems to be some consensus towards co-co (e.g. http://www.cocoacrumbs.com/blog/?p=5) Any definitive references that will answer the question for sure?

Hi, I'm trying to create a list with headers above a grouping of items. I was looking at SeperatedListAdapter available here: http://jsharkey.org/blog/2008/08/18/separating-lists-with-headers-in-android-09/ but I ran into an error (ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2025): java.lang.IllegalStateException: ArrayAdapter requires the resource ID to be a TextView ) Now I'm looking into more options including making a new one. Do you guys have any hints? Thanks, Bryon

  • How do I use continuations on Scala 2.8?

    - by Seth Tisue
Scala 2.8.0.RC1 includes the continuations plugin on trunk for the first time, but the details of how to use it have changed from previous releases, so it's difficult to follow the blog entries and SO answers out there that talk about continuations but were written for previous versions.

  • No Deploy option IIS

    - by mjmcloug
Hey, I've been looking at MSDeploy recently, specifically this presentation here. http://www.hanselman.com/blog/WebDeploymentMadeAwesomeIfYoureUsingXCopyYoureDoingItWrong.aspx Everything has been going fine till now except I'm trying to find the Deploy/Export Applications within IIS and they don't seem to be present. I'm presuming there needs to be some option turned on so I can see them but I'm damned if I know what. I have got the web deployment tool installed Thanks

  • Generate an LTPA token?

    - by Shadowman
We have a need to integrate a server with our WebSphere environment that does not support LTPA. I found the blog post here and corresponding code to decode the information in an LTPA token. However, there's no code explaining the digital signature and how that's generated/validated. Does anyone have any information on how to generate an LTPA token in custom code?

  • XVal validation framework

    - by csetzkorn
Hi, I started using this validation framework: http://blog.stevensanderson.com/2009/01/10/xval-a-validation-framework-for-aspnet-mvc/ Steve mentions that the DataAnnotationsValidationRunner implementation is slightly naive. Why is this and are there better implementations? I am also looking for a good example that uses this framework to validate database dependent business rules. Any pointers would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Christian

  • Don't understand the typing of Scala's delimited continuations (A @cps[B,C])

    - by jkff
I'm struggling to understand what precisely does it mean when a value has type A @cps[B,C] and what types of this form should I assign to my values when using the delimited continuations facility. I've looked at some sources: http://lamp.epfl.ch/~rompf/continuations-icfp09.pdf http://www.scala-lang.org/node/2096 http://dcsobral.blogspot.com/2009/07/delimited-continuations-explained-in.html http://blog.richdougherty.com/2009/02/delimited-continuations-in-scala_24.html but they didn't give me much intuition into this. In the last link, the author tries to give an explicit explanation, but it is not clear enough anyway. The A here represents the output of the computation, which is also the input to its continuation. The B represents the return type of that continuation, and the C represents its "final" return type—because shift can do further processing to the returned value and change its type. I don't understand the difference between "output of the computation", "return type of the continuation" and "final return type of the continuation". They sound like synonyms.

  • Dynamically expanding Django forms

    - by RexE
I would like to create a form where a user can enter an arbitrary # of items in separate textboxes. The user could add (and potentially remove) fields as needed. Something like this: I found the following different solutions: http://www.eggdrop.ch/blog/2007/02/15/django-dynamicforms/ http://dewful.com/?p=100 Is there another best practice I might not be aware of?

  • Can I decrypt an encrypted file even if someone modified it?

    - by kiruthika
Warning: This question has been heavily edited. I tried my best to guess the original author's intentions. Please view the original version. I'm unsure on how to use the GPG command line tool, that we're using to encrypt files. File.txt is a simple text file: Testing hello world My security things. This is how I encrypt the file: gpg --symmetric File.txt This gives me a new, encrypted file: File.txt.gpg If someone else now modifies the encrypted file, I'm no longer able to decrypt it. $ gpg --decrypt File.txt.gpg gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found. gpg: decrypt_message failed: eof How can I get the content of my file, even though someone has modified it?
