  • How do I get flashvars in Firefox using object embed tag only to work?

    - by Liam
    I am trying to generate an <object> tag only embed code and cannot get Firefox to pass Flash along the FlashVars values. This seems to work everyplace else that I've tried it but fails in Firefox. Here is a sample of the embed that I'm using: <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=10,0,0,0" width="550" height="400" id="Main" align="middle"> <param name="movie" value="Main.swf" /> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /> <param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="menu" value="false" /> <param name="FlashVars" value="foo=1" /> </object> Please note that the Flash experience does show up in Firefox but when I do traces and actually run the application this fails to read the values. This has had me scratching my head for a day and I'm pretty stumped. If anyone has any guidance on this it would relly be appreciated.

  • How to achieve interaction between GUI class with logic class

    - by volting
    Im new to GUI programming, and haven't done much OOP. Im working on a basic calculator app to help me learn GUI design and to brush up on OOP. I understand that anything GUI related should be kept seperate from the logic, but Im unsure how to implement interaction between logic an GUI classes when needed i.e. basically passing variables back and forth... Im using TKinter and when I pass a tkinter variable to my logic it only seems to hold the string PY_VAR0. def on_equal_btn_click(self): self.entryVariable.set(self.entryVariable.get() + "=") calculator = Calc(self.entryVariable) self.entryVariable.set(calculator.calculate()) Im sure that im probably doing something fundamentally wrong and probabaly really stupid, I spent a considerable amount of time experimenting (and searching for answers online) but Im getting no where. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, V The Full Program (well just enough to show the structure..) import Tkinter class Gui(Tkinter.Tk): def __init__(self,parent): Tkinter.Tk.__init__(self,parent) self.parent = parent self.initialize() def initialize(self): self.grid() self.create_widgets() """ grid config """ #self.grid_columnconfigure(0,weight=1,pad=0) self.resizable(False, False) def create_widgets(self): """row 0 of grid""" """Create Text Entry Box""" self.entryVariable = Tkinter.StringVar() self.entry = Tkinter.Entry(self,width=30,textvariable=self.entryVariable) self.entry.grid(column=0,row=0, columnspan = 3 ) self.entry.bind("<Return>", self.on_press_enter) """create equal button""" equal_btn = Tkinter.Button(self,text="=",width=4,command=self.on_equal_btn_click) equal_btn.grid(column=3, row=0) """row 1 of grid""" """create number 1 button""" number1_btn = Tkinter.Button(self,text="1",width=8,command=self.on_number1_btn_click) number1_btn.grid(column=0, row=1) . . . def on_equal_btn_click(self): self.entryVariable.set(self.entryVariable.get() + "=") calculator = Calc(self.entryVariable) self.entryVariable.set(calculator.calculate()) class Calc(): def __init__(self, equation): self.equation = equation def calculate(self): #TODO: parse string and calculate... return self.equation if __name__ == "__main__": app = Gui(None) app.title('Calculator') app.mainloop()

  • c# finding matching words in table column using Linq2Sql

    - by David Liddle
    I am trying to use Linq2Sql to return all rows that contain values from a list of strings. The linq2sql class object has a string property that contains words separated by spaces. public class MyObject { public string MyProperty { get; set; } } Example MyProperty values are: MyObject1.MyProperty = "text1 text2 text3 text4" MyObject2.MyProperty = "text2" For example, using a string collection, I pass the below list var list = new List<>() { "text2", "text4" } This would return both items in my example above as they both contain "text2" value. I attempted the following using the below code however, because of my extension method the Linq2Sql cannot be evaluated. public static IQueryable<MyObject> WithProperty(this IQueryable<MyProperty> qry, IList<string> p) { return from t in qry where t.MyProperty.Contains(p, ' ') select t; } I also wrote an extension method public static bool Contains(this string str, IList<string> list, char seperator) { if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(str) || list == null) return false; var splitStr = str.Split(new char[] { seperator }, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries); foreach (string s in splitStr) foreach (string l in list) if (String.Compare(s, l, true) == 0) return true; return false; } Any help or ideas on how I could achieve this?

  • object construct a class of objects in java

    - by Mgccl
    There is a super class, A, and there are many subclasses, B,C,D... people can write more subclasses. Each of the class have the method dostuff(), each is different in some way. I want an object that constructs any object that belong to A or any of it's subclass. For example I can pass the name of the subclass, or a object of that class, and it will construct another object of the class. Of course I can write A construct(A var){ stuff = var.dostuff(); domorestuff(stuff) return new A(stuff); } B construct(B var){ stuff = var.dostuff(); domorestuff(stuff) return new B(stuff); } C construct(C var){ stuff = var.dostuff(); domorestuff(stuff) return new C(stuff); } but this is not efficient. I have to write a few new lines every time I make a new subclass. It seems I can't use generics either. Because I can't use dostuff() on objects not in any of the subclass of A. What should I do in this situation?

  • Creating object/array to method in request based on __gettypes in PHP

    - by LochNess
    I'm having trouble with the array or object that should be passed based on the response from __gettypes. The __gettypes response: [0] => struct CDataWrapper { schema;any; } [1] => struct NewMember { MemberDetail MemberDetails;ArrayOfHobby Hobbies; } [2] => struct MemberDetail { string Name; string Age; string Sex; } [3] => struct ArrayOfHobby { Hobby Hobby; } [4] => struct Hobby { string Name; string HoursUsedOnHobbyWeekly;boolean Favourite; } ... etc. The methods are: [0] => ReceiveMemberResponse ReceiveMember(ReceiveMember $parameters) [1] => ReturnMemberResponse ReturnMember(ReturnMember $parameters) So far I have this PHP: $client = new SoapClient('http://domain.com?wsdl'); class MemberDetail { public $Name = ''; public $Age = ''; public $Sex = ''; } $mc = new MemberDetail(); $mc->Name= 'Bob'; $mc->Age= '14'; $mc->Sex= 'Male'; $myParam = array('ReceiveMember'=>$mc); $wcf = $client->ReceiveMember($myParam); $wcfResult = $wcf->ReturnMember; print_r($wcfResult) when i call the page it returns: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): Unknown error. I'm not really sure how to create the array or object to pass on as $myParam since im no expert with PHP either.

  • Strongly typed dynamic Linq sorting

    - by David
    I'm trying to build some code for dynamically sorting a Linq IQueryable<. The obvious way is here, which sorts a list using a string for the field name http://dvanderboom.wordpress.com/2008/12/19/dynamically-composing-linq-orderby-clauses/ However I want one change - compile time checking of field names, and the ability to use refactoring/Find All References to support later maintenance. That means I want to define the fields as f=f.Name, instead of as strings. For my specific use I want to encapsulate some code that would decide which of a list of named "OrderBy" expressions should be used based on user input, without writing different code every time. Here is the gist of what I've written: var list = from m Movies select m; // Get our list var sorter = list.GetSorter(...); // Pass in some global user settings object sorter.AddSort("NAME", m=m.Name); sorter.AddSort("YEAR", m=m.Year).ThenBy(m=m.Year); list = sorter.GetSortedList(); ... public class Sorter ... public static Sorter GetSorter(this IQueryable source, ...) The GetSortedList function determines which of the named sorts to use, which results in a List object, where each FieldData contains the MethodInfo and Type values of the fields passed in AddSort: public SorterItem AddSort(Func field) { MethodInfo ... = field.Method; Type ... = TypeOf(TKey); // Create item, add item to diction, add fields to item's List // The item has the ThenBy method, which just adds another field to the List } I'm not sure if there is a way to store the entire field object in a way that would allow it be returned later (it would be impossible to cast, since it is a generic type) Is there a way I could adapt the sample code, or come up with entirely new code, in order to sort using strongly typed field names after they have been stored in some container and retrieved (losing any generic type casting)

  • @selector and return value

    - by user320926
    The idea it's very easy, i have an http download class, this class must support the http authentication but it's basically a background thread so i would like to avoid to prompt directly to the screen, i would like to use a delegate method to require from outside of the class, like a viewController. But i don't know if is possible or if i have to use a different syntax. This class use this delegate protocol: //Updater.h @protocol Updater <NSObject> -(NSDictionary *)authRequired; @optional -(void)statusUpdate:(NSString *)newStatus; -(void)downloadProgress:(int)percentage; @end @interface Updater : NSThread { ... } This is the call to the delegate method: //Updater.m // This check always fails :( if ([self.delegate respondsToSelector:@selector(authRequired:)]) { auth = [delegate authRequired]; } This is the implementation of the delegate method //rootViewController.m -(NSDictionary *)authRequired; { // TODO: some kind of popup or modal view NSMutableDictionary *ret=[[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; [ret setObject:@"utente" forKey:@"user"]; [ret setObject:@"password" forKey:@"pass"]; return ret; }

  • authorise user from mysql database

    - by Jacksta
    I suck at php, and cant find the error here. The script gets 2 variables "username" and "password" from a html from then check them against a MySQL databse. When I run this I get the follow error "Query was empty" <? if ((!$_POST[username]) || (!$_POST[password])) { header("Location: show_login.html"); exit; } $db_name = "testDB"; $table_name = "auth_users"; $connection = @mysql_connect("localhost", "admin", "pass") or die(mysql_error()); $db = @mysql_select_db($db_name, $connection) or die(mysql_error()); $slq = "SELECT * FROM $table_name WHERE username ='$_POST[username]' AND password = password('$_POST[password]')"; $result = @mysql_query($sql, $connection) or die(mysql_error()); $num = mysql_num_rows($result); if ($num != 0) { $msg = "<p>Congratulations, you're authorised!</p>"; } else { header("Location: show_login.html"); exit; } ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Secret Area</title> </head> <body> <? echo "$msg"; ?> </body> </html>

  • converting code from non-(C)ontinuation (P)assing (S)tyle to CPS

Any difference? Will I really have to use OO now? As a last resort, does CPS have an alternative?

  • How to make command-line options mandatory with GLib?

    - by ahe
    I use GLib to parse some command-line options. The problem is that I want to make two of those options mandatory so that the program terminates with the help screen if the user omits them. My code looks like this: static gint line = -1; static gint column = -1; static GOptionEntry options[] = { {"line", 'l', 0, G_OPTION_ARG_INT, &line, "The line", "L"}, {"column", 'c', 0, G_OPTION_ARG_INT, &column, "The column", "C"}, {NULL} }; ... int main(int argc, char** argv) { GError *error = NULL; GOptionContext *context; context = g_option_context_new ("- test"); g_option_context_add_main_entries (context, options, NULL); if (!g_option_context_parse(context, &argc, &argv, &error)) { usage(error->message, context); } ... return 0; } If I omit one of those parameters or both on the command-line g_option_context_parse() still succeeds and the values in question (line and or column) are still -1. How can I tell GLib to fail parsing if the user doesn't pass both options on the command-line? Maybe I'm just blind but I couldn't find a flag I can put into my GOptionEntry data structure to tell it to make those fields mandatory. Of course I could check if one of those variables is still -1 but then the user could just have passed this value on the command-line and I want to print a separate error message if the values are out of range.

  • Convert SVG to PDF

    - by Adrian Smith
    How would one go about converting a SVG file to a PDF programatically? (I need to alter the SVG in certain respects before generating the PDF so simply pre-converting it using a tool won't be sufficient.) Ideally using Java but Perl or PHP would be fine too. Obviously I am basically considering Apache FOP and Batik with Java. However no matter how long I search I cannot find a simple introduction on how to do it. Things like SVGConverter have descriptions like "Defines the interface for classes that are able to convert part or all of a GraphicContext", but I don't really know what that means. I have this feeling there must be an API to do this quite simply, provided by FOP or Batik, but I'm just not able to find it at the moment (or perhaps it really doesn't exist.) In terms of the supported SVG features I need, the file has some paths which are filled with some linear gradients. Ideally if I could pass the SVG in as a DOM Document that would be ideal; then I would load my template SVG file, change it as specified by the user, and then generate the PDF.

  • How can I prevent double file uploading with Amazon S3?

    - by Tony
    I decided to use Amazon S3 for document storage for an app I am creating. One issue I run into is while I need to upload the files to S3, I need to create a document object in my app so my users can perform CRUD actions. One solution is to allow for a double upload. A user uploads a document to the server my Rails app lives on. I validate and create the object, then pass it on to S3. One issue with this is progress indicators become more complicated. Using most out-of-the-box plugins would show the client that file has finished uploading because it is on my server, but then there would be a decent delay when the file was going from my server to S3. This also introduces unnecessary bandwidth (at least it does not seem necessary) The other solution I am thinking about is to upload the file directly to S3 with one AJAX request, and when that is successful, make a second AJAX request to store the object in my database. One issue here is that I would have to validate the file after it is uploaded which means I have to run some clean up code in S3 if the validation fails. Both seem equally messy. Does anyone have something more elegant working that they would not mind sharing? I would imagine this is a common situation with "cloud storage" being quite popular today. Maybe I am looking at this wrong.

  • How do I get require_login()-like functionality using the new PHP Client Library for Facebook?

    - by cc
    Howdy. I've been tasked with making a Facebook game, but I'm new to Facebook development, so I'm just getting started. Apologies in advance if this is a no-brainer to people. I'm having trouble following all the examples I see on sites, and I keep running into missing pages in the Facebook documentation when I am trying to read up. I think it's because there's a new version of the PHP Client Library for Facebook, and everything I'm finding is referring to the old client. For instance, I see this code in a lot of examples: require 'facebook.php'; $facebook = new Facebook( array( 'appId' => '(id)', 'secret' => '(secret)' ) ); $facebook_account = $facebook->require_login(); ...but there's no "require_login()" in the client library provided in the facebook.php file. From what I can tell, it looks like Facebook has very recently rolled out some new system for development, but I don't see any sample code anywhere to deal with it. The new library comes with an "example.php" file, but it appears to be only for adding "Log in with Facebook" functionality to other sites (what I'm assuming is what they mean by "Facebook Connect" sites), not for just running apps in a Canvas page on Facebook itself. Specifically, what I need to do is let users visit an application page within Facebook, have it bring up the dialog box allowing them to authorize the app, have it show up in their "games" page, and then have it pass me the relevant info about the user so I can start creating the game. But I can't seem to find any tutorials or examples that show how to do this using the new library. Seems like this should be pretty straightforward, but I'm running into roadblocks. Or am I missing something about the PHP client library? Should require_login() be working for me, and there's something broken with my implementation, such as having the wrong client library or something? I downloaded from GitHub yesterday, so I'm pretty sure I have the most recent version of the code I have, but perhaps I'm downloading the wrong "facebook.php" file...?

  • Fluently.Configure without explicitly entering types.

    - by user86431
    I'm trying to take my fluent mapping past the basic stuff that I've found here: http://wiki.fluentnhibernate.org/Fluent_configuration Where they explicitly add each type like this: ISessionFactory localFactory = Fluently.Configure() .Database( ObjectFactory.GetInstance<SybaseConfiguration>().GetSybaseDialect( "BLAH" ) ) .Mappings( m => { m.HbmMappings .AddFromAssemblyOf<StudTestEO>(); m.FluentMappings .AddFromAssemblyOf<StudTestEO>() .AddFromAssemblyOf<StudTestEOMap>(); } ) .BuildSessionFactory(); .BuildSessionFactory(); and trying to be able to take the assembly, get a list of it's types and pass that in instead kindf like this string FullEoAssemblyFName = webAccessHdl.GetMapPath(EoAssemblyFName); string FullMapAssemblyFName = webAccessHdl.GetMapPath(MapAssemblyFName); string FullConfigFileName = webAccessHdl.GetMapPath("~/" + NHibernateConfigFileName); if (!File.Exists(FullEoAssemblyFName)) throw new Exception("GetFactoryByConfigFile, EoAssemblyFName does not exist>" + FullEoAssemblyFName + "<"); if (!File.Exists(FullMapAssemblyFName)) throw new Exception("GetFactoryByConfigFile, MapAssemblyFName does not exist>" + FullMapAssemblyFName + "<"); if (!File.Exists(FullConfigFileName)) throw new Exception("GetFactoryByConfigFile, ConfigFile does not exist>" + FullConfigFileName + "<"); Configuration configuration = new Configuration(); Assembly EoAssembly = Assembly.LoadFrom(webAccessHdl.GetMapPath(EoAssemblyFName)); Assembly MapAssembly = Assembly.LoadFrom(webAccessHdl.GetMapPath(MapAssemblyFName)); Type[] EoType = EoAssembly.GetTypes(); Type[] MapType = MapAssembly.GetTypes(); ISessionFactory localFactory = fluent.Mappings( m => { // how do i add all the types from type array here? m.FluentMappings.Add(MapAssembly).AddFromAssembly(EoAssembly); } ) .BuildSessionFactory(); To get it to load the types genericly instead of explicitly.. has anyone done this, or see any good links to articles I should look at? Thanks, E-

  • VB.net avoiding cross thread exception with extension method

    - by user574632
    Hello I am trying to implement a solution for updating form controls without using a delegate. I am attempting to use the 1st solution on this page: http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/blog/143/entry-2337-handling-the-dreaded-cross-thread-exception/ Imports System.ComponentModel Imports System.Runtime.CompilerServices Public Module MyInvoke <Extension()> _ Public Sub CustomInvoke(Of T As ISynchronizeInvoke)(ByVal control As T, ByVal toPerform As Action(Of T)) If control.InvokeRequired Then control.Invoke(toPerform, New Object() {control}) toPerform(control) End If End Sub End Module The site gives this as example of how to use: Label1.CustomInvoke(l => l.Text = "Hello World!") But i get 'l' is not declared error. As you can see im very new to VB or any OOP. I can get the second solution on that page to work (using delegates) but i have quite a few things to do in this thread and it seems like i would need to write a new delegate sub for each thing, which seems wasteful. What i need to do is select the 1st item from a combobox, update a textbox.text with the selected item, and pass the selected item to a function. Then wait for x seconds and start again, selecting the second item. I can get it to work in a single threaded application, but i need the interface to remain responsive. Any help greatly appreciated. EDIT: OK so changing the syntax worked for the example. However if i change it from Label1.CustomInvoke(Sub(l) l.text = "hello world!") (which worked just fine) to: Dim indexnumber As Integer = 0 ComboBox1.CustomInvoke(Sub(l) l.SelectedIndex = indexnumber) I get a cross threading error as though i didnt even use this method: Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'ComboBox1' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on. So now im back to where i started? Any further help very much appreciated.

  • Login to website and use cookie to get source for another page

    - by Stu
    I am trying to login to the TV Rage website and get the source code of the My Shows page. I am successfully logging in (I have checked the response from my post request) but then when I try to perform a get request on the My Shows page, I am re-directed to the login page. This is the code I am using to login: private string LoginToTvRage() { string loginUrl = "http://www.tvrage.com/login.php"; string formParams = string.Format("login_name={0}&login_pass={1}", "xxx", "xxxx"); string cookieHeader; WebRequest req = WebRequest.Create(loginUrl); req.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; req.Method = "POST"; byte[] bytes = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(formParams); req.ContentLength = bytes.Length; using (Stream os = req.GetRequestStream()) { os.Write(bytes, 0, bytes.Length); } WebResponse resp = req.GetResponse(); cookieHeader = resp.Headers["Set-cookie"]; String responseStream; using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(resp.GetResponseStream())) { responseStream = sr.ReadToEnd(); } return cookieHeader; } I then pass the cookieHeader into this method which should be getting the source of the My Shows page: private string GetSourceForMyShowsPage(string cookieHeader) { string pageSource; string getUrl = "http://www.tvrage.com/mytvrage.php?page=myshows"; WebRequest getRequest = WebRequest.Create(getUrl); getRequest.Headers.Add("Cookie", cookieHeader); WebResponse getResponse = getRequest.GetResponse(); using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(getResponse.GetResponseStream())) { pageSource = sr.ReadToEnd(); } return pageSource; } I have been using this previous question as a guide but I'm at a loss as to why my code isn't working.

  • QT NOOB: Add action handler for multiple objects of same type.

    - by what
    I have a simple QT application with 10 radio buttons with names radio_1 through radio_10. It is a ui called Selector, and is part of a class called TimeSelector In my header file for this design, i have this: //! [1] class TimeSelector : public QWidget { Q_OBJECT public: TimeSelector(QWidget *parent = 0); private slots: //void on_inputSpinBox1_valueChanged(int value); //void on_inputSpinBox2_valueChanged(int value); private: Ui::Selector ui; }; //! [1] the commented out void_on_inputSpinBox1_valueChanged(int value) is from the tutorial for the simple calculator. I know i can do: void on_radio_1_valueChanged(int value); but I would need 10 functions. I want to be able to make one function that works for everything, and lets me pass in maybe a name of the radio button that called it, or a reference to the radio button so i can work with it and determine who it was. I am very new to QT but this seems like it should be very basic and doable, thanks.

  • Task Queue stopped working

    - by pocoa
    I was playing with Goole App Engine Task Queue API to learn how to use it. But I couldn't make it trigger locally. My application is working like a charm when I upload to Google servers. But it doesn't trigger locally. All I see from the admin is the list of the tasks. But when their ETA comes, they just pass it. It's like they runs but they fails and waiting for the retries. But I can't see these events on command line. When I try to click "Run" on admin panel, it runs successfuly and I can see these requests from the command line. I'm using App Engine SDK 1.3.4 on Linux with google-app-engine-django. I'm trying to find the problem from 3 hours now and I couldn't find it. It's also very hard to debug GAE applications. Because debug messages do not appear on console screen. Thanks.

  • PHP: Use a string as an array index path to retreive a value.

    - by Charles
    Say I have an array like: Array ( [0] => Array ( [Data] => Array ( [id] => 1 [title] => Manager [name] => John Smith ) ) [1] => Array ( [Data] => Array ( [id] => 1 [title] => Clerk [name] => ( [first] => Jane [last] => Smith ) ) ) ) I want to be able to build a function that I can pass a string to that will act as the array index path and return the appropriate array value without using eval(). Is that possible? function($indexPath, $arrayToAccess) { //$indexPath would be something like [0]['Data']['name'] which would return //"Manager" or it could be [1]['Data']['name']['first'] which would return //"Jane" but the amount of array indexs that will be in the index path can //change, so there might be 3 like the first example, or 4 like the second. return $arrayToAccess[$indexPath] <-obviously wont work }

  • MVC2 Json request not actually hitting the controller

    - by SlackerCoder
    I have a JSON request, but it seems that it is not hitting the controller. Here's the jQuery code: $("#ddlAdminLogsSelectLog").change(function() { globalLogSelection = $("#ddlAdminLogsSelectLog").val(); alert(globalLogSelection); $.getJSON("/Administrative/AdminLogsChangeLogSelection", { NewSelection: globalLogSelection }, function(data) { if (data.Message == "Success") { globalCurrentPage = 1; } else if (data.Message == "Error") { //Do Something } }); }); The alert is there to show me if it actually fired the change event, which it does. Heres the method in the controller: public ActionResult AdminLogsChangeLogSelection(String NewSelection) { String sMessage = String.Empty; StringBuilder sbDataReturn = new StringBuilder(); try { if (NewSelection.Equals("Application Log")) { int i = 0; } else if (NewSelection.Equals("Email Log")) { int l = 0; } } catch (Exception e) { //Do Something sMessage = "Error"; } return Json(new { Message = sMessage, DataReturn = sbDataReturn.ToString() }, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet); } I have a bunch of Json requests in my application, and it seems to only happen in this area. This is a separate area (I have 6 "areas" in the app, 5 of which work fine with JSON requests). This controller is named "AdministrativeController", if that matters. Does anything jump out anyone as being incorrect or why the request would not pass to the server side?

  • Saving tags into a database table in CakePHP

    - by Cameron
    I have the following setup for my CakePHP app: Posts id title content Topics id title Topic_Posts id topic_id post_id So basically I have a table of Topics (tags) that are all unique and have an id. And then they can be attached to post using the Topic_Posts join table. When a user creates a new post they will fill in the topics by typing them in to a textarea separated by a comma which will then save these into the Topics table if they do not already exist and then save the references into the Topic_posts table. I have the models set up like so: Post model: class Post extends AppModel { public $name = 'Post'; public $hasAndBelongsToMany = array( 'Topic' => array('with' => 'TopicPost') ); } Topic model: class Topic extends AppModel { public $hasMany = array( 'TopicPost' ); } TopicPost model: class TopicPost extends AppModel { public $belongsTo = array( 'Topic', 'Post' ); } And for the New post method I have this so far: public function add() { if ($this->request->is('post')) { //$this->Post->create(); if ($this->Post->saveAll($this->request->data)) { // Redirect the user to the newly created post (pass the slug for performance) $this->redirect(array('controller'=>'posts','action'=>'view','id'=>$this->Post->id)); } else { $this->Session->setFlash('Server broke!'); } } } As you can see I have used saveAll but how do I go about dealing with the Topic data?

  • Unpacking varargin to individual variables

    - by Richie Cotton
    I'm writing a wrapper to a function that takes varargin as its inputs. I want to preserve the function signature in the wrapper, but nesting varargin causes all the variable to be lumped together. function inner(varargin) %#ok<VANUS> % An existing function disp(nargin) end function outer(varargin) % My wrapper inner(varargin); end outer('foo', 1:3, {}) % Uh-oh, this is 1 I need a way to unpack varargin in the outer function, so that I have a list of individual variables. There is a really nasty way to do this by constructing a string of the names of the variables to pass the inner, and calling eval. function outer2(varargin) %#ok<VANUS> % My wrapper, second attempt inputstr = ''; for i = 1:nargin inputstr = [inputstr 'varargin{' num2str(i) '}']; %#ok<AGROW> if i < nargin inputstr = [inputstr ', ']; %#ok<AGROW> end end eval(['inner(' inputstr ')']); end outer2('foo', 1:3, {}) % 3, as it should be Can anyone think of a less hideous way of doing things, please?

  • JavaScript: List global variables in IE

    - by Quandary
    I'm trying to get the instance name of my class. The way I do this is I loop through all global objects and compare it with the this pointer. It works in Chrome and FF, but in IE, it doesn't. The problem seems to be the global variables don't seem to be in window. How can I loop through the global variables in IE ? PS: I know it only works as long as there is only one instance, and I don't want to pass the instance's name as a parameter. function myClass() { this.myName = function () { // search through the global object for a name that resolves to this object for (var name in this.global) { if (this.global[name] == this) return name } } } function myClass_chrome() { this.myName = function () { // search through the global object for a name that resolves to this object for (var name in window) { if (window[name] == this) return name ; } } ; } // store the global object, which can be referred to as this at the top level, in a // property on our prototype, so we can refer to it in our object's methods myClass.prototype.global = this //myClass_IE.prototype.global = this // create a global variable referring to an object // var myVar = new myClass() var myVar = new myClass_chrome() //var myVar = new myClass_IE() alert(myVar.myName() );// returns "myVar"

  • C++ arrays as parameters, subscript vs. pointer

    - by awshepard
    Alright, I'm guessing this is an easy question, so I'll take the knocks, but I'm not finding what I need on google or SO. I'd like to create an array in one place, and populate it inside a different function. I define a function: void someFunction(double results[]) { for (int i = 0; i<100; ++i) { for (int n = 0; n<16; ++n) //note this iteration limit { results[n] += i * n; } } } That's an approximation to what my code is doing, but regardless, shouldn't be running into any overflow or out of bounds issues or anything. I generate an array: double result[16]; for(int i = 0; i<16; i++) { result[i] = -1; } then I want to pass it to someFunction someFunction(result); When I set breakpoints and step through the code, upon entering someFunction, results is set to the same address as result, and the value there is -1.000000 as expected. However, when I start iterating through the loop, results[n] doesn't seem to resolve to *(results+n) or *(results+n*sizeof(double)), it just seems to resolve to *(results). What I end up with is that instead of populating my result array, I just get one value. What am I doing wrong?

    I am passing the space separated value to in input and split this in operation and make an array. givecard 442 ashutosh2 Y But i want to pass the message in this string and want to split as complete message in operation or output. givecard 442 ashutosh2 Y hi how are you if i split this line than i get the result is Array ( [0] => givecard [1] => 442 [2] => ashutosh2 [3] => Y [4] => hi [5] => how [6] => are [7] => you ) But i want like this Array ( [0] => givecard [1] => 442 [2] => ashutosh2 [3] => Y [4] => hi how are you ) as here hi how are you i want to extract as complete one message in a variable . How can i achieve this
