  • Entering new user data into AD LDS

    - by Robert Koritnik
I need some help configuring AD LDS (Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services). I'm not an administrator, have never configured domains and I don't have a clue how to add new users to existing domains. The thing is I need to develop an app on top of Sharepoint 2010 that must be connected to AD. I've chosen AD LDS because I can install it on Windows 7 and it acts as an active directory even though there's no domain controller present in the network. What I've done so far: I've installed AD LDS I've added a new instance with appication directory partition name DN=Air,DC=Watanabe,DC=pri I can connect to it using ADSI Edit and see all kinds of strange But now I don't know what to do? When it opens I can see the window below, but where's next? Can anybody give me some guidelines, how can I add domain users, so I can use them in my app AD required app?

  • how can I effect DNS Caching on PHP/Memcache application

    - by Niro
In a very high loaded Ubuntu/PHP web server I found that the PHP line: $memcache-connect("int-aws_ec2.memcached.myapp.net",11211); sometimes takes ~5 secs. Replacing the url with the ip address decreases the server load from ~20 to 0 My question is - where are the settings that effect the DNS caching for this? Is it in the server level or the memcache library ? How can I change it ? Additional info: Ubuntu 10.04 lucid PHP: 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.10 Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu) Amazon EC2 Even more info per Celada's comment: The DNS handling for the memcache server is done by scalr (the platform I use to manage the cloud resources). They have a client located on the instances and their own DNS servers. /etc/nsswitch.conf - hosts: files dns /etc/resolv.conf: nameserver 172.16.0.23 domain ec2.internal search ec2.internal The domain is not in hosts.conf To check if I run nscd I used /etc/init.d/nscd stop and received 'no such file' so i guess I dont run nscd. Thanks !

  • OpenVPN server behind firewall issues

    - by Gabriel
I'm trying to setup an OpenVPN but I do have some problems doing it. This is my scenario: INTERNET --- HOME ROUTER (10.1.0.0/28) --- FIREWALL SERVER (DEFAULT GATEWAY FOR MY INTERNAL LAN 10.1.0.2) --- OpenVPN Server (10.1.0.9 LAN | 10.2.0.1 VPN) single nic / bridge iface I can connect to my VPN server successfully (it gets the 10.2.0.5 address). Though, I'm not able to ping anything, neither my VPN server, nor my lan clients. I guess the problem is on the firewall. I'm not really an expert on iptables, I tried adding plenty of different rules without success. I would appreciate a lot if someone could explain me how to get to work the VPN server in this scenario. After connecting through VPN, when I try to ping the server, I'm not really sure about how the ping message gets to the server and how the response should go back to the client. Thanks a lot Gabriel

  • How to Fix Mail Server SSL?

    - by Noah Goodrich
Our mail server was originally setup using self-created certificates, however when those expired and I tried to recreate them, the whole thing just blew up. Since I know it will be important, we are running a Debian server and Postfix. Now I see these errors generated in the mail logs: May 15 08:06:34 letterpress postfix/smtpd[22901]: warning: cannot get certificate from file /etc/postfix/ssl/smtpd.cert May 15 08:06:34 letterpress postfix/smtpd[22901]: warning: TLS library problem: 22901:error:02001002:system library:fopen:No such file or directory:bss_file.c:352:fopen('/etc/postfix/ssl/smtpd.cert','r'): May 15 08:06:34 letterpress postfix/smtpd[22901]: warning: TLS library problem: 22901:error:20074002:BIO routines:FILE_CTRL:system lib:bss_file.c:354: May 15 08:06:34 letterpress postfix/smtpd[22901]: warning: TLS library problem: 22901:error:140DC002:SSL routines:SSL_CTX_use_certificate_chain_file:system lib:ssl_rsa.c:720: May 15 08:06:34 letterpress postfix/smtpd[22901]: cannot load RSA certificate and key data And when trying to access email from a client like Thunderbird from outside our local network, you receive "Unable to connect to smtp server". Update: I have verified that the file does exist. The current owner of the file is root:root. Does this need to be changed?

  • activesync not working with forms based authentication

    - by Chad
I have an Exchange 2003 SP2 single backend server with an SSL cert. I was having trouble getting OMA to work so I found a MS article about making a reg hack and creating a new Exchange-OMA virtual directory. I am able to connect and access content from my mailbox by using secure mail.domainname.com/oma and using my credentials. ActiveSync was not working on a Windows mobile phone or iPhone. I found another article about using Forms Based Authenication and SSL on a single Exchange server environment and the fix was to elliminate FBA and SSL for the Exchange virtual directory. That allows ActiveSync to now work. I have very few mobile users, but they are management, so I need to make ActiveSync work but I would like to get back to using SSL. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817379 Any ideas about this setup? Thanks.

  • KDE not loading without nomode tag in grub and bad resolution [migrated]

    - by fcole90
I recently installed Linux Mint 13 KDE but it's not working fine. At first I had to use failsafe mode to boot because normal boot takes to a textual login. If I use normal boot and text login I'm not able to run KDE nor with kdm start neither with startx. kdm says that's already running. Instead X is not able to run because can't connect Xserver to display. If I stop kdm and starx again doesn't change anything. Now I edited the grub to load in nomode. In that way KDE loads but resolution is wrong and xrandr doesn't help, because if I do this: cvt 1366 768 it changes it to 1368: # 1368x768 59.88 Hz (CVT) hsync: 47.79 kHz; pclk: 85.25 MHz Modeline "1368x768_60.00" 85.25 1368 1440 1576 1784 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync I also installed bumblebee and nvidia drivers because of optimus technology.. It worked just to have fun with glxspheres but there isn't any gain on KDE.. • IIS7 folder permissions

    - by Eanna
I build a basic WCF service that I now want to host in IIS7 under Windows Server 2008 R2. I added the service as an application under the default web site but whenever i try to run the application I get the following error: HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid. Config Error - Cannot read configuration file due to insufficient permissions The only way I can get this service working is if i choose to "connect as" the server Administrator when adding the service. the "application user (pass-through authentication)" option does not seem to work. Could anyone help me out, I've just started using IIS7 and have no idea what to do... Thanks

  • MP3 player no longer syncs after installing Sixaxis drivers

    - by zildjohn01
I recently installed third-party drivers for the (Sony) PS3 controller on my friend's PC (Windows XP). I found out a few days later that his MP3 player (also Sony) is no longer recognized by Windows. He gets the "connect device" sound, and about 250ms later, the "disconnect device" sound. I figured the controller driver took over the Walkman's device ID, so I went through the registry and C:\Windows\inf removing all references to Sony's VID (054C), but I haven't had any luck. What would you do in this situation?

  • Could not retrieve backup settings for primary ID in Log shipping

    - by user1723139
I am doing log shipping between two Amazon EC2 instances running Windows Server 2008 R2 with SQL Server 2008 R2 standard edition. Both the instances are in the same domain and I can access the shared folders between the instances. The SQL server service account, agent service account are all running under a domain account. When I activate log shipping (with stand by mode restore in secondary server), the initial backup gets restored on the secondary. After that the backup operation is getting failed and i get the following error message: *** Error: Could not retrieve backup settings for primary ID 'xxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-4d772cd7337e'.(Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.LogShipping) *** *** Error: Failed to connect to server IP-0A7653F2.(Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) *** ****** Error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server.******** **The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. • OpenVPN Push DNS Not Working Correctly On Windows

    - by woodsbw
I currently have OpenVPN server setup on an Ubuntu machine, as well as DNSMasq. I am wanting to push DNS to the client (road warrior setup.) I had the push "dhcp-option DNS x.x.x.x" where x.x.x.x was an open OpenDNS server, for testing, and everything was working when I connected from my Windows client But now that I have DNSMasq setup, and I changed the "dhcp-option DNS x.x.x.x" to the DNSMasq server, but when they client connects it still receives the old, OpenDNS DNS server IP. I'm at a bit of a loss here, I have tried flushing DNS on the client, rebooting the server, and I even grep'd the entire server to see if the OpenDNS IP was in some other config I was missing...it wasn't. One other note, when connect to the VPN and explicitly run nslookup against against the DNSMasq IP, the addresses resolve correctly, so it isn't a DNSMasq issue.

  • Any way to get P4V to work with older servers?

    - by 280Z28
I use P4V as a Perforce client. I updated to 2009.1 to get some major bug fixes, and it seems they removed the ability to connect to older clients. I do work for a few clients, and 5/6 depots I have to work with are new, but one is older (2002.2 I think). Does this mean that not only I can't get any more bug fixes because 1 of 6 servers is old, but now I'm completely locked out of that server since the older P4V clients are no longer online? I know the 2007.x version I used before works with the old servers, but I can't find it online. Please tell me I'm not SOL... The Visual Studio integration is part of the P4V package, not the P4Win package, so if something isn't fixed I might never have VS support for P4 again. Help :(

  • Nexus One USB freezes Vista SP2 Quad Core

    - by user25479
My Nexus One (N1) will occasionally freeze my Vista 32bit SP2 Quad Core 2.4GHz during POST. MB is ASUS P5N-E SLI with 4GB of RAM. The PC will be booting and when I connect the N1 via USB, the boot sequence will freeze, then continue once I unplug the N1 USB link. It happens whether the N1 is in USB debugging mode and when it is not. I'm not sure whether this is an N1 hw/fw issue, system interaction with my PC, or a result of my N1 development environment (I'm using the Eclipse Galileo IDE for Java Developers, primarily compiling to API Level 7. Eclipse has also occasionally frozen although I haven't established N1 USB cause-and-effect on that issue). Is anyone else experiencing these symptom?

  • silent failure while creating odbc data source

    - by Peter
I just got really confused trying to create an ODBC data source in Windows 2003 R2. I can create a connection to my chosen server (a MS SQL Server) on the "user DSN" tab, but when I try to do the same thing on the "system DSN tab", the process fails but without an error message. I am able to connect to the target database fine at the end of configuring a new data source, but when I click OK, the data source just isn't there. No error message, no sign that anything went amiss, other than the lack of a new data source. Very annoying, as I had to repeat the process a few times to make sure I wasn't crazy. Anybody got any hints? I suspect it is a permission problem of some sort but since there is no error message, I don't know where to start.

  • Can't find my.cnf on my VPS

    - by dan
Ok i am a total noob when it comes to servers (but eager to learn). I am renting a VPS so i can host a magento store. The VPS is using Centos5 and DirectAdmin and XEN virtualization. I've read a bit about how to optimize magento and one suggestion is to edit 'my.cnf'. However i can't find this file anywhere from within DirectAdmin. I also can't connect to the VPS via console as my host has a console access via their website but it won't let me enter my root password it just hangs...(how do people normally connected to their linux VPS?) Please help? ThankYou.

  • WEP key not working on laptop running Ubuntu

    - by stupid-idiot
I can't connect to my router via wifi from my laptop (running Ubuntu) even if I'm 100% sure the WEP key I punch in is correct. It works via LAN though. I'm also not able to ping localhost 127.0.0.1. I had some problems setting up the radio on my network card but I think that that works since it finds some wireless networks. (Although it's much much faster than Windows it's useless since I can't download any libraries for development.) What could be wrong with my setup?

  • HTTPS is not working in transparent proxy with Squid

    - by Supratik
Hi I am using Squid proxy 3.1, all systems in the LAN connects to the internet through proxy. Direct connection is blocked using the iptables from the gateway server. There are some devices which does not have options for auto proxy or manual proxy and can only connect to the internet directly. So I enabled transparent proxy in Squid and redirected packets for port 80 and 443 to Squid proxy using iptables. Now the problem is it is working fine for HTTP port but HTTPS is not working. It is throwing "ssl_error_rx_record_too_long" error. If it is not possible through transparent proxy can you please suggest me another solution. Warm Regards Supratik

  • Using Lighttpd: apache proxy or direct connection?

    - by Halfgaar
Hi, I'm optimizing a site by using lighttpd for the static media. I've found that a recommended solution is to use Apache Proxy to point to the lighttpd server. But, does that use up an Apache thread/process per request? In my setup, I've noticed that all my processes are used up, even though they aren't doing anything, CPU wise. To free up apache processes, I've configured lighttpd and the amount of processes needed is lowered significantly, Munin shows. However, I've set it up to connect directly to lighty, to prevent apache workers from being occupied by serving static media. My question is: when using Apache Proxy, does that also use up a process/worker per request?
