Is there any free/open source hosting control panel available for windows 2003/2008 , I am not asking about limited freeware like dot net panel/plesk ,
How can I prevent Internet Explorer 8 from opening multiple windows? I only want a single IE window, with multiple tabs.
Sometimes a have multiple browser windows open and I don't like it when I have to choose which one I want to open in the Windows 7 taskbar.
I have a Windows 2003 Server running IIS (due to an ASP Site needing to be hosted).
I wanted to add some non ASP sites (HTML, PHP and MySQL) so I was thinking I could just run apache on 8080.
What confuses me a bit is if someone hits DomiainA.com, IIS intercepts it and forwards it to DomainA.com:8080 where apache is running. I could do this by putting a server side javascript re-direct in the IIS www-root for the domain.
What else can I do that might be more proper?
I have a windowsserver 2008 with exchange database full backup. Now for testing purpose i want to restore that full server to a VM. I have copied the whole backup to VM01 and took it to Private Network. And now i want to take backup from VM01 and restore it to VM02. Both are at private network. I was able to find VM02 test backup by searching in VM1. But the copyed restore file is not showing in the window !!!
Is there any policy so that i can not restore except from the original location?
I have never built a server before, so I need some suggestions.
What should I consider when choosing hardware for a web server?
I have a budget of 10k.
I am in serious trouble and I am seeking professional advices here.
We are using MSSQL server 2008. We removed primary key, replaced exiting data with new data resulted losing our critical business data in its child tables on MSSQL Server. It was completely human mistake and we didn't have disk failure.
1) The last backup file was a month ago which means it is useless.
2) We created Maintenance Plans to backup our database at 12AM everyday but those files are nohwere to be found
3) A friend of mine said we can recover from Transaction Logs. When I go to TaskRestore Transaction log is dimmed/disabled.
4) I checked ManagementMaintenance Plans. I can't find any restored point there. It seems that our maintenance plan hasn't been working.
Is there any third party tool to recover lost/overwritten data from MSSQL table? Thanks a lot.
The title says it all. I'm interested in replacing a Windows file server with a Linux Samba file server, but the caveat is that share/folder permissions must be preserved. We'd be using the new active directory authentication in Samba, so the two servers would at least be in the same domain to make things a little simpler, and all the users/groups are domain-level users/groups. Does anyone know if this is possible?
I am very new in server management thing. I want to make email accounts like [email protected].
I know something to do with Sendmail thing , but dunno what ?
I am on Ubuntu 10 server.
I have recently noticed wmpnetwk.exe using a more than usual amount of processor cycles.
I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium on a Netbook.
I'm guessing it's a feature of Windows Media player that recently got turned on, possibly because of a Windows update or accidental key combination.
I don't usually use Media player that often.
Does anyone know if it is a feature that has recently turned on, and if so, how do I turn it off ?
i have windows 2003 server

can you please what is this error ? and how to remove it.
One of my older motherboards broke and I'm planning to use the remaining power supply, hard drive and case to build a backup server. I want to buy a new motherboard and CPU that can be used 24x7 and wont break down in a few months.
So the question is, do you have any recommendations on any reliable motherboards and CPU for a backup server? Processing power is not a huge issue.
As Hosting.com are no longer offerring Windows VPS accounts, we are looking for a new US based provider.
Looking for something that offers standard Windows IIS hosting for a Dotnetnuke portal site with SQL Server Express or Web. Basic managed services for OS updates as well as regular backups required.
Good level of support and solid uptime is critical.
Budget in the $150-$200 month range but flexible depeding on quality and services offerred.
Anyone have any suggestions and good feedback they can share?
Currently looking at Jodohost as an option but would like some other possibilities as their support can be suspect at times we have found.
A cloud solution in same range would also be an option.
I have a service (Running as local system) that uses an SSL connection. Currently this connection fails because the remote host used a private CA to sign it's certificate. For previous operating systems, I used to use the certificate manager to import the CA cert into the local machine's Trusted Root certificates store.
Though I can do the steps with a windows 7 machine, it seems after a reboot that the imported certificates are gone. Here are the steps I'm doing in Windows 7:
Open mmc
Add Certificates Snap-in for Local Machine
Navigate to Third-Party Root Certification Authorities/Certificates
Import Root CA Cert.
The certificate seems to work fine, using internet explorer or the service to test the SSL connection works, but after a reboot it seems like the change is reverted.
Our startup organisation is growing fast in 2 different office locations. That brings new challenges and headaches. Our entire company is cloud based, and I am looking for a good product to manage our remote systems.
Currently we do not have on-site AD servers, we are using the Windows Azure AD services, so cannot rely on group policies at this stage.
I would like to be able to achieve the following: (they are all laptops)
Remote Desktop Support
Patch management
Lock down software on machines (restrict them)
Monitor and manage systems
Other benefits would be good, but if I can achieve the ones listed above, it will go a long way.
We have a combination of Windows 7 pro & Windows 8 & 8.1 machines.
I am currently using Windows Intune, but it is really limited. Really just a glorified patch enforcer.
Thank you in advance to your help.
When I leave my server idle for about 10 minutes the network will stop responding to outside connections. If I get on the server and attempt to use the network(ping google for example) there will be a delay for a few seconds and then it works. After this incoming connections work again until I leave it idle again. Why does this happen and how can I fix it?
I have got a windowsserver 2003 with partitioned Hard drive 10Go and 80Go, and i want to improve the storage capacity as the little partition 10Go is almost full.
So i have got choice between partition the hard drive to equal parts, or set up a new hard drive with better storage capacity.knowing that the server has to be on service as soon as possible.
Which one may be the better solution that takes less time and less risks?
Is it possible for me to create an ssh session on windows which then does some folder/file manipulation and then creates a NATIVE windows symlink.
i.e. a symlink that will be recognised by IIS and other app/services.
i've tried to create a symlink to a folder but all i get is a 1kb system file (with the same name) where the symlinked folder should be.
using ln -s SOURCE TARGET
i end up with target (system file, 1kb).
BUT in cygwin i can see the symlinked folder as normal.
Spent too much time on this :-)
Sometimes when I turn on my homemade desktop computer (running 64-bit Windows 7), the left mouse click and enter key doesn't work. They work well in BIOS, as well as on the Windows 7 BCD and login screen. Usually, restarting the computer solves the problem.
Why does this keep happening?
I've tried:
Using other USB ports
Refreshing, repairing and reinstalling drivers
Changing mouse settings
Refreshing mouse profiles
My keyboard is a Logitech G510, and my mouse is a Razer Lanchesis 5600. Both work without problems in Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 8.1 Preview, and I've been using both on my 64-bit Windows 7 homemade desktop without problems for about a year and a half. I encountered the problems yesterday.
We've developing a database driven (70%/30% read/write load) website using C#.NET, IIS and MS SQL Server 2008 to be hosted on Windows 2008. Due to contractual reasons our setup has to be hosted on our own physical/virtual servers instead of a cloud solution at this stage.
Could someone outline or link to some best practices that would provide both high availability (priority at the moment) and eventually load balancing for our site. We're probably looking at some sort of 2 SQL server mirrored system and 2 ISS web servers to start with.
Thanks in advance.
I've seen many questions about how to run multiple sql servers on one server, but I would like to run mysqld as a user-level process and completely self contained in a folder (I have no permissions outside my user folder).
I spent some time using the --defaults-file=my.cnf, but it still seems to conflict with the system-level mysql server that's running.
Does anybody know how to do this?
Thanks in advance!
I created a database using a november CTP preview of MS SQL Server 2008R2. Is it possible to transfer this database to use with older version, SQL Server 2008?
So I have a box running a WindowsServer 2008 R2 in my LAN, which is running, among other things, a voip server used by other people. I myself am in the same subnet with the server, while the other users are not.
Now, maybe on average twice a day, all the other users get disconnected from the server (and if I take a remote desktop connection to it, I'm not able to open any web pages either). These disconnections usually last only about 5 seconds, but sometimes they may last up to a minute. What could possibly cause this?
I have all the updates installed from windows update and the motherboard of the server is asus p5b deluxe (if that is of any interest).
edit: Forgot to mention that my own internet connectivity stays intact while the server's does not, and both computers are behind the same router.
