in mysql default null value is (NULL)
when i try to use it in c# that code not work because it is a string who have a value "(NULL)"
how i can check that string is null or not. if i check by string.insnullorempty or ==null it's not worked
how can i check this row is null or not in c#
I am trying to pass a few NULL values to a stroed procedure but PHP always retains the varaibles to be empty strings '' and not NULL.
My DB insert function looks like this. (I am using a Framework and ADODB so if it looks weird thats why).
function insert_emp($f_name, $last_name, $dob) {
if(!isset($dob)){
$dob = NULL;
}
$this->DB->setConnection("CALL insert_emp('$f_name', '$l_name', '$dob')");
}
I have ensured that $dob is being passed an empty string ''. But for some reason when it calls the stored proc it is not changed to NULL. dob is a datetime field and mysql complains that you can not enter an empty string as a DATETIME. If I hard code the insert such as this
$this->DB->setConnection("CALL insert_emp('Test1', 'Test2', 'NULL')");
it will work. Thanks for the help.
Hello, I am looking to retreive a numerical value from the database
function adminLevel()
{
$q = "SELECT userlevel FROM ".TBL_USERS." WHERE id = '$_SESSION[id]'";
return mysql_query($q, $this->connection);
}
This is the SQL.
I then wrote the following php/html:
<?php
$q = $database->adminLevel();
if ($q > 7)
{
?>
<a href="newleague.php">Create a new league</a>
<?
}
?>
The problem I have is that the userlevel returned isn't affecting the if statement. It is always displayed. How do i get it to test the value of userlevel is greater than 7?
Thanks
The following is my DB data, how can I sorting it by sid and prev_sid with php/mysql!?
sid prev_sid type
000 197 app_home
197 198 page_teach
198 218 page_teach
199 211 page_step
211 207 link
218 559 page_step
559 199 page_step
Result:
sid prev_sid type
000 197 app_home
197 198 page_teach
198 218 page_teach
218 559 page_step
559 199 page_step
199 211 page_step
211 207 link
000 197 198 218 559 199 199 211 207
I have got a simple MySQL table and primary index (id) is not numbered one by one (1, 31, 35, 100 etc.). I want them to be numbered like (1, 2, 3, 4). Please tell me how to do it. I would also like to point that I am aware of possible consequences of the operation, but I just want to tidy up the table.
hi
my users upload photo and all uploads recorded in mysql with the date info. i want to limit uploads by the months. user may just upload 3 pics in a month. what is the best way to do this ?

i'm just curious. so i ask this particular question about SQLite. I haven't use this type of database extensively. but care to explain what is the basic different between SQLite and Mysql ?
The reason behind all of this is i just want to know whether it possible to use it to store wordpress data and act as a database ?
I'm getting average prices by week on 7 million rows, it's taking around 30 seconds to get the job done.
This is the simple query:
SELECT AVG(price) as price, yearWEEK(FROM_UNIXTIME(timelog)) as week from pricehistory where timelog > $range and product_id = $id GROUP BY week
The only week that actually gets data changed and is worth averaging every time is always the last one, so this calculation for the whole period is a waste of resources. I just wanted to know if mysql has a tool to help out on this.
I wonder if this is possible with straight SQL on MySQL. I need to do SELECT COUNT(*) FROM on each table in the database and output results in one result set.
Is it possible to do with just SQL?
UPDATE files
SET filepath = REPLACE(filepath, `sites/somedomain.com/files/`, `sites/someotherdomain.com/files/`);
I have a table called files with a field called filepath. MySQL returns this error: Unknown column 'sites/somedomain.com/files/' in 'field list'
In some languages (ColdFusion comes to mind), you can run a query on the result set from a previous query. Is it possible to do something like that in php (with MySQL as the database)?
I sort of want to do:
$rs1 = do_query( "SELECT * FROM animals WHERE type = 'fish'" );
$rs2 = do_query( "SELECT * FROM rs1 WHERE name = 'trout'" );
Hi Experts,
I am having an issue with importing a large(60MB) CSV file in MYSQL DB.
The problem arises when an address field has multiple comma seperated values e.g. home no, street no, town etc.
I tried to use BigDump for it but, the problem did not solved because of a single field containing multiple comma separated values.
Any idea, suggestion or solution from experts how to handle it?
Please reply, because I am sick of it.
Thanks
Hi, when trying to create a simple procedure in mysql 5.1.47-community it fails everytime i've tried everything!

SELECT 1+1;
end;
//
I am making some updates to a php site which I did not design. I have a local copy of the site. At the top of each page there are settings for the host name for the db connection.
Is there someway I can setup a pointer to the remote address. The address is 'mysqlhost' for example and I want that to point to 'mysql.myhost.com'. I tried creating a HOST record for mysqlhost pointing to the IP address it resolves to but that doesn't work.
If I put 'mysql.myhost.com' in the connection it works. If I put that IP address it doesn't so that is probably why the HOST record idea doesn't work.
Other than creating a local copy of the DB is there a quick way so that I don't have to modify each file in my dev environment and then again when I redeploy?
I have a database in data center, which is running MySQL, and I want to change the database from data center to host in my company. At that time, I don't want to stop the data base in the data center, is there anyway to this kind of integeration? Thank you...
Hey,
I'm doing a statistical research application. I need to store words according to 2 initial letters which is 676 combinations and each word has its number of occurrences (minimal, maximal, average) in text. I'm not sure how the model/schema should look like. There will be a lot of checking whether the keyword was already persisted. I appreciate your suggestions.
Edit: I'll be using either mysql or postgresql + spring templates
HI
friends, i wish to store image and resume of user in the data base.
i am using mysql data base and php5. i want to know that which field i set means data type.and how i set the range (maximum size) for uploaded data.
I'm running a LAMP stack. When I go into phpmyadmin, I can see that there are quite a number of sleeping connections which probably should be closed. Is there a way, using either Apache or MySQL, to determine on which pages those connections are created?
I've created some code that will return a random row, (well, all the rows in a random order)
But i'm assuming its VERY uneffiecent and is gonna be a problem in a big database...
Anyone know of a better way?
Here is my current code:
$count3 = 1;
$count4 = 1;
//Civilian stuff...
$query = ("SELECT * FROM `*Table Name*` ORDER BY `Id` ASC");
$result = mysql_query($query);
while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) {
$count = $count + 1;
$civilianid = $row['Id'];
$arrayofids[$count] = $civilianid;
//echo $arrayofids[$count];
}
while($alldone != true) {
$randomnum = (rand()%$count) + 1;
//echo $randomnum . "<br>";
//echo $arrayofids[$randomnum] . "<br>";
$currentuserid = $arrayofids[$randomnum];
$count3 += 1;
while($count4 < $count3) {
$count4 += 1;
$currentarrayid = $listdone[$count4];
//echo "<b>" . $currentarrayid . ":" . $currentuserid . "</b> ";
if ($currentarrayid == $currentuserid){
$found = true;
//echo " '" .$found. "' ";
}
}
if ($found == true) {
//Reset array/variables...
$count4 = 1;
$found = false;
} else {
$listdone[$count3] = $currentuserid;
//echo "<u>" . $count3 .";". $listdone[$count3] . "</u> ";
$query = ("SELECT * FROM `*Tablesname*` WHERE Id = '$currentuserid'");
$result = mysql_query($query);
$row = mysql_fetch_array($result);
$username = $row['Username'];
echo $username . "<br>";
$count4 = 1;
$amountdone += 1;
if ($amountdone == $count) { //$count
$alldone = true;
}
}
}
Basically it will loop until its gets an id (randomly) that hasnt been chosen yet.
-So the last username could take hours :P
Is this 'bad' code? :P :(
