Hi,
Is it possible to block websites with all wireless routers. I mean how to know if certain router has this administration feature?
I am currently looking forward to buy:
TP-LINK WR340G
My Sony Vaio laptop has a built-in program called "Sony Battery Care" which provides a functionality to hold battery at certain levels of charge while operating. For example, I've set it to 50% and the battery is always kept at that level while on AC power. This mode prevents battery degradation and is more effective as I usually use my laptop with AC power.
I'm lookingfor a similar program to use with other laptops with Windows OS; preferably a free one.
How can I find out if a given program is 64 or 32 bit version? I can't to do it by simply looking at where it's installed, since some programs need no installer and may be put anywhere.
Here, no process explorer will help me, since the application refuses to start.
Reason why I need it: My new eclipse installation fails to load "jvm.dll" just like here. I'd bet I'm using 64-bit versions of both eclipse and JVM, but I'm slowly getting unsure....
I'm working on getting a separate internet connection to run out and I was looking into available options. FiOS claims to offer 25Mb up / 25 Mb down as a maximum rate. Do they have listed minimum rates? Is there anything with fiber I should be concerned about? Special hardware, special routers, availability concerns?
I'm looking at allowing internet access for only a few scattered users on a school network. One method I'm considering is using 802.1x authentication for the modem. Of course there are simpler options like only allowing specific IP or mac addresses, but policy requires something more secure than this.
So, are there any modems with 802.1x wired authentication? All my searching on this yields info about wireless.
Hi, I am migrating from Windows to OS X and lookingfor a good way to browse zip, rar etc. archives. Ideally, I need a plugin for Finder which will allow me to open archives as folders.
Is there one, or any other suitable solution? Preferably free
Hi,
I'm currently looking at options with the aim of replacing our current bespoked and unsupported MFT soultion. As well as the usual Ipswitch, Axway and Sterling type solutions I was wondering whether anyone knew of any serious open source offerings currently available?
I’m lookingfor an affordable solution to offer a “self-service” password reset portal on the web for my active directory users. (about 150 of them)
Many of them don’t use Windows workstations and therefore can’t reset there own password.
I’ve been Googling, and have found so many options, that I’m not sure how to sort them all out. Has anyone had positive (or negative) experiences with any particular products?
I have the windows 8 release preview 32 bit iso and it fails to install when booted out of a flash drive, it copies the files and the boot loader installs but the install hangs when I boot into Windows 8 the first time, it simply keeps on spinning forever.
I did a vhd install of Windows 8 developer preview and it installed fine.
Looking at the partition from Windows 7, I can see that the files are present.
I am lookingfor a (Windows XP) utility (preferably a standalone app) that can let me set a hotkey to adjust the gamma (and hopefully other color settings) of the overlay surface.
ATI Tray Tools does not have the ability to bind the overlay color adjustments to the overlay. I’ve asked him about it and he said it was difficult to implement or something (he was kind of vague). The ATI Catalyst drivers do not have a hotkey function for the overlay tab either.
Can anyone help?
As it is not possible to directly share a serial port between two processes using Linux, I am lookingfor another way to achieve this, I have heard about socat but could not find a concrete example of how to realize the following:
Split one physical serial port (/dev/ttyUSB0) into two virtual ports, one for reading and one for writing, as one process only needs to send data, and one only needs to receive data.
I can no modify the sending application unfortunately.
We are a voip startup and want to launch a voip service, while we have the call control platform (broadworks) we are wondering what BSS/OSS platform to use. Our options are to buy a turnkey solution (if it exists) or else to glue together opensource and commerical offerings to create a complete solution.
BSS components we're lookingfor are identity management, billing, rating, product catalogue, subscription management, reporting, etc..
I'm building a Raid array for the first time in my system and I have a question regarding having multiple Raid 1 arrays in a single Win 7 system.
I'm a bit of an organizational freak with my data and I currently have two separate hard drives I want to mirror. The new motherboard I'm looking to buy supports Raid, so my question is this:
a) can I have more than one Raid 1 array in a single system?
b) would I have to buy a separate controller for the second array?
Computer cables and external devices are a continuous source of frustration for everybody who likes a clean working environment. The more devices you add to your home office, the more disastrous the situation under the table becomes: cords falling behind the desk, ugly cables running along the sides and under of the desk, making it almost impossible to clean and remove the dust.
This is not my office, but I've seen similar "setups:"
I'm lookingfor good tips/products which help me in keeping the all cables somehow under control and organized.
I am lookingfor a utility that can take a snapshot of the files in directories that I am interested in and then compare that snapshot to the current state of the system and show me any files that have been added, changed, or deleted. Does anyone know of solutions that provide this functionality?
Thanks,
Nate
Hey!
I am lookingfor a program that will allow me to create a sort of training cd.
Something that will let me take a bunch of songs and let me limit them to 3m (maybe more or maybe less) and have one song repeat for 1m.
So the cd would be like
3m 1m 3m ... etc
Anyone know a program that will allow me to do this?
I am on win7 64bit machine
Thanks
I'm trying to setup a local working copy of my domain and I've modified the "domain" file within /etc/apache2/sites-available/, executed "sudo a2ensite domain" and then restarted apache and my browser is not looking locally for the domain. What step am I missing?
NameVirtualHost domain:80
<VirtualHost domain:80>
ServerName domain
DocumentRoot /var/www/domain.com/
</VirtualHost>
I've checked "Don't use the index when searching in file folders for system files", but I don't see a way to tell Windows 7 that I'm lookingfor a system file. What does this option actually do, and how do I use it to search every file name on the drive for a specified character string?
I intend to search file names in an indexed folder that contains non-indexed subfolders and "system" file types, and this option seems to have no effect on the skipping of those subfolders and file types.
Can anyone give me a general estimate for what web-hosts charge for data storage ($/gigabyte)? A shared-webhosting service is what I'm referring to. I have been trying to compare the price for storage offered by business process automation SaaS and now I'm looking more general.
I'm unable to find the directory listing of all PHP packages. I'm basically lookingfor the latest stable version of 5.3 utilizing some sort of script that will go out and check PHP's website.
If I can get a directory listing (can't seem to find one), I can do the rest.
Figured it out but seeing that someone else posted something similar but for Apache, he got blasted for puttig it on Stackoverflow. I figure I would save myself the trouble and post it here.
Ok, so I want to say Time Machine, but that's note exactly what I'm lookingfor. I want to set up a system that will regularly (hourly?) back up the /home directory of our machine. time Machine style things are naturally preferable since they save space by only saving the changes, but honestly, this is important enough that I can suffer some waste.
Any ideas?
Am lookingfor a PDF reader that can navigate PDF files like a web browser (IE, when I click a link that takes me to another part of the doc, I should be able to go back by pressing Ctrl+left arrow). I am using Debian.
Hi,
I am lookingfor some software which can version control all my files on my OS (For Windows Server). So I can go back to a file 5 versions old.
I know Genie can do this but I have BackupAssist for backups which Genie also does. I need an app that just offers the above.
If I throw my MySQL/PHP app up on a Amazon EC2 instance (using their AWS Free Usage Tier program) and couple it with CloudFlare (the free plan of course) roughly how many daily visitors can I comfortably handle before performance starts to suffer? Just lookingfor a rough estimate or educated guess - I understand this setup might be less than ideal but I'm still very curious nonetheless.
Thanks in advance
I'm looking to write a script that connects to an Exchange inbox (as me) and downloads messages. Is there any open source software out there to support me?
Thanks!
