    I'm looking for a way to search for a specific string e.g. '=UUID:' and delete it and all following characters per line. I would prefer a way/macro/addon for notepad++.   • mysql on ubunto 4 is not running and is not remotely accessible

    Currently i installed ubunot on ubunto 4.4, and using following commands i can see mysql, mysqld running ps -ef | grep mysql ps -ef | grep mysqld but when I run, netstat i don't see mysql and 3306 anywhere. in my.cnf file, i have given my ip and port is 3306. also when i run this command sudo netstat -tap | grep mysql i don't see anything and commands I needed to run the mysql 5 on port 3306 and on ip=x.x.x.x for remotely accessible Looking forward to your reply

    Has anybody ever seen any (no-installs-necessary) solutions to listing any RSS feed on any page of a website? Ideally it would consist of HTML (javascript if necessary) and require no downloads or installs. I am thinking of twitter-style apps that you load up in an iframe or via Javascript and in turn they show your latest tweets on the page - same concept, different content. Just looking for a shiny gadget, not able to write my own solution for this particular project.

    People who use OpenDNS and go to a non-existing domain are getting a nice fancy search page telling them that the domain doesn't exists instead of the browser error page. here in my home network we have a win 2008-r2 server with the dns role enabled. Is there any way to make my own fancy looking error page to show up at all computers when they enter a domain not found by the local dns server and the Forwarders / root hints servers? -- David,

    I have an Alienware machine, so I'm not entirely sure on the make of motherboard, however, I do know it's got nforce on it and allows me to use nVidia cards in SLI. My 8800GTX has recently died and I'm looking to buy a replacement - I'm considering the ATI 5870, but what I want to know is, if I choose this card, does it mean I will need to change motherboard just to change graphics card vendor or does it not matter?

    I'm looking for a single line command or a script that archives 5 folders into .tar files (no gzip/bzip needed) in a certain directory and deletes the folders after a successful compression. It has to use the original folder name as file name for the archive too. This would create a better listening experience when listening to the file on my portable mp3 player. I would like to do this with little to no downtime and if possible I would like to be able to map permissions from the groups/users in the current system to groups/users in the new domain. A side question, a large number of the files in the system are office documents with hard links to the old file server. Any way to programmatically change all those links to the new file server?

  • Need to remove borders from multiple images

    I have a few hundred family images and they were all sent to us with borders that I would like to remove. Thankfully the borders are all the same size of 20 pixels and they are all .jpg so this will probably make things easier but im looking for a way to "batch process" all of them quickly so I dont need to open photoshop for each image and do it individually.
