  • How to determine if object in another AppDomain has gone

    - by Dmitry Lobanov
    I instantiate an object of some class in other ApDomain using CreateInstanceAndUnwrap(). I can determine if this object resides in other domain by using RemotingServices.IsTransparentProxy(). But can I determine if the real remote object has gone away (e.g. was garbage collected) without probing a call on proxy and catching RemotingException? Is it possible?

  • Calling an object method from an object property definition

    - by Ian
    I am trying to call an object method from an object (the same object) property definition to no avail. var objectName = { method : function() { return "boop"; }, property : this.method() }; In this example I want to assign the return value of objectName.method ("boop") to objectName.property. I have tried objectName.method(), method(), window.objectName.method(), along with the bracket notation variants of all those as well, ex. this["method"], with no luck.

  • How do I write to command line in c#?

    - by ben
    Hi I know how to write to console but if I write to console in my program and call my program from the command line it won't display anything. How do I make it so that when I say Console.WriteLine or Console.Out.Writeline ir prints to the command prompt from which it was called and not somewhere else? Once again I know how to do Console.WriteLine so it's not that :-p unless I'm doing it wrong. From what I can tell it's probably something to do with Console.SetOut(TextWriter t)

  • Safe Cross Thread Signals/Slot C++

    - by JP
    It seem that the only implementation that provide Safe Cross-Thread Signals for both the Signal class and what's being called in the slot is QT. (Maybe I'm wrong?). But I cannot use QT in the project I'm doing. So how could I provide safe Slots call from a different thread (Using Boost::signals2 for example)? Are mutex inside the slot the only way? I think signals2 protect themself but not what's being done inside the slot. Thanks

  • How do I specify a relative local file path in DOS?

    - by donde
    I am using c#.NET 2.0 to execute DOS commands to ftp a file. All works except for 1 thing, in the cmd file I call, it runs a PUT statement. Right now the put statement has a hardcoded local file path. I need to specify a dynamic path. I've tried put %~dp0\myfile.DTL myfile.dtl but it says it can't find the file.

  • No Matching Function Error for inserting into a list in c++

    - by Josh Curren
    I am getting an error when I try to insert an item into a list (in C++). The error is that there is no matching function for call to the insert(). I also tried push_front() but got the same error. Here is the error message: main.cpp:38: error: no matching function for call to ‘std::list<Salesperson, std::allocator<Salesperson> >::insert(Salesperson&)’ /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-cygwin/4.3.4/include/c++/bits/list.tcc:99: note: candidates are: std::_List_iterator<_Tp> std::list<_Tp, _Alloc>::insert(std::_List_iterator<_Tp>, const _Tp&) [with _Tp = Salesperson, _Alloc = std::allocator<Salesperson>] /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-cygwin/4.3.4/include/c++/bits/stl_list.h:961: note: void std::list<_Tp, _Alloc>::insert(std::_List_iterator<_Tp>, size_t, const _Tp&) [with _Tp = Salesperson, _Alloc = std::allocator<Salesperson>] Here is the code: #include <stdlib.h> #include <iostream> #include <fstream> #include <string> #include <list> #include "Salesperson.h" #include "Salesperson.cpp" #include "OrderedList.h" #include "OrderedList.cpp" using namespace std; int main(int argc, char** argv) { cout << "\n------------ Asn 8 - Sales Report ------------" << endl; list<Salesperson> s; int id; string fName, lName; int numOfSales; string year; std::ifstream input("Sales.txt"); while( !std::getline(input, year, ',').eof() ) { input >> id; input >> lName; input >> fName; input >> numOfSales; Salesperson sp = Salesperson( id, fName, lName ); s.insert( sp ); //THIS IS LINE 38 ************************** for( int i = 0; i < numOfSales; i++ ) { double sale; input >> sale; sp.sales.insert( sale ); } } cout << endl; return (EXIT_SUCCESS); }

  • Getting installed app size

    - by alex
    I'm trying to figure out how to get the size of an installed app. What's already failed: - new File('/data/app/some.apk') - reports incorrect size - PackageManager.getPackageSizeInfo(String packageName, IPackageStatsObserver observer) - is @hide and relies on some obscure IPackageStatsObserver for result so I can't call it via reflection.

    - by Filip Ekberg
    I have a page, let's call it "callme.html" which only has this content: abc Now I want to fire the following: $.get("callme.html", function (data) { alert(data); }, "text"); I am using jQuery 1.4.2 mini and the page is called but the alert is empty. Any ideas why? I'd like the popup to contain abc I've also tried the following $.ajax({ url: "callme.html", async: false, success: function (data) { alert(data); } });

  • How to tell if a DLL function is being called from a VB6 exe?

    - by aiGuru
    I have an old VB6 app and I'm not sure which code was used to compile it. One revision of the source makes a call to Sleep in kernel32.dll. Is there a way to find out if the exe calls a specific function in a DLL? I can see that kernel32.dll is linked by using the "Dependency Walker" tool but that doesn't seem to tell me that a specific function is called from the exe.

  • How can I run an external program from C and parse its output?

    - by Josh Matthews
    I've got a utility that outputs a list of files required by a game. How can I run that utility within a C program and grab its output so I can act on it within the same program? UPDATE: Good call on the lack of information. The utility spits out a series of strings, and this is supposed to be complete portable across Mac/Windows/Linux. Please note, I'm looking for a programmatic way to execute the utility and retain its output (which goes to stdout).

  • ASP.NET MVC Inheriting from ProfileBase

    - by Glen
    I have 2 related issues. I inherited from ProfileBase and I have a couple of properites as such public SomeType PropertyName { get { return (SomeType)base["PropertyName"]; } set { base["PropertyName"] = value; Save(); } } I also have a User class (UserId, UserName, Profile, LastActivityDate) that has 2 additional properties out of the profile that I retrieve in my View to show a list of Users (i.e. @Model.Profile.PropertyName). However, everytime I access a property (from my View) it seems to update the LastActivityDate in the aspnet_Users table because when I show the LastActivityDate as well as the profile properties on my screen the LastActivtyDate is out of sync with the database. Also there is a LastActivityDate property available in my profile which unfortunately is not available and is in fact set to null and throws an exception when accessing it saying the property UserName is null. So the static Create method provided by ProfileBase seems to retrieve the correct profile properties but does not set the base's UserName property even though you pass in a UserName parameter to the Create method. Is this a internal bug? I was kind of hoping if by accessing the property because the LastActivityDate is updated then I could store that value to update my LastActivityDate in my User class before it is rendered to the page. The only way I can think of doing it is: public SomeType PropertyName { get { SomeType result = (SomeType)base["PropertyName"]; OnLastActivityDateChanged(); return result; } set { base["PropertyName"] = value; } } then in my User class: ... public MyProfile() { Profile.LastActivityDateChanged += Profile_LastActivityDateChanged(); } ~MyProfile() { Profile.LastActivityDateChanged -= Profile_LastActivityDateChanged(); } ... void Profile_LastActivityDateChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { //Run a query to get the latest LastActivityDate this.LastActivityDate = ... } It seems I have to make 1 call to retrieve the full list to my aspnet_Users table then another call for each row just to get the latest activity date. ARGGGGHHH!!! Am I going about this the wrong way! I put an ajax refresh hyperlink next to each User row and when I click it, immediately after loading the page, the value changes. Therefore my suspision is valid that calling a property via the inherited profilebase class updates the value. Is there a workaround? It is a bit miss leading when my page says User Smith has no activity for 4 days then I click my ajax refresh link (or refresh the whole page for that matter) and now it says Smith was active but it was just me meally showing the page that indirectly caused an activity read event.

  • C++ Thread level constants

    - by Gokul
    Is there a way by which we can simulate thread level constants in C++? For example, if i have to make a call to template functions, then i need to mention the constants as template level parameters? I can use static const variables for template metaprogramming, but they are process level constants. I know, i am asking a question with a high probability of 'No'. Just thought of asking this to capitalize on the very rare probability :)) Thanks, Gokul.

  • Sqlite3 and PDO problem with ORDER BY

    - by Maenny
    Hi, I try to use the SQL statement SELECT * FROM table ORDER BY column via an PDO-Object in PHP. Problem is, that I always get an error (Call to a member function fetchall() on a non-object - that means, the query did not return a PDO-object) when using the names of all columnname EXCEPT for ID. When I query SELECT * FROM table ORDER BY ID it works. ID is the PRIMARY INTEGER KEY, all other columns are TEXT or NUMERIC, neither of them would works with the ORDER BY clause. Any ideas?
