  • Can I read an Outlook (2003/2007) PST file in C#?

    - by Andy May
Is it possible to read a .PST file using C#? I would like to do this as a standalone application, not as an Outlook addin (if that is possible). If have seen other SO questions similar to this mention MailNavigator but I am looking to do this programmatically in C#. I have looked at the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook namespace but that appears to be just for Outlook addins. LibPST appears to be able to read PST files, but this is in C (sorry Joel, I didn't learn C before graduating). Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! EDIT: Thank you all for the responses! I accepted Matthew Ruston's response as the answer because it ultimately led me to the code I was looking for. Here is a simple example of what I got to work (You will need to add a reference to Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook): using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook; namespace PSTReader { class Program { static void Main () { try { IEnumerable<MailItem> mailItems = readPst(@"C:\temp\PST\Test.pst", "Test PST"); foreach (MailItem mailItem in mailItems) { Console.WriteLine(mailItem.SenderName + " - " + mailItem.Subject); } } catch (System.Exception ex) { Console.WriteLine(ex.Message); } Console.ReadLine(); } private static IEnumerable<MailItem> readPst(string pstFilePath, string pstName) { List<MailItem> mailItems = new List<MailItem>(); Application app = new Application(); NameSpace outlookNs = app.GetNamespace("MAPI"); // Add PST file (Outlook Data File) to Default Profile outlookNs.AddStore(pstFilePath); MAPIFolder rootFolder = outlookNs.Stores[pstName].GetRootFolder(); // Traverse through all folders in the PST file // TODO: This is not recursive, refactor Folders subFolders = rootFolder.Folders; foreach (Folder folder in subFolders) { Items items = folder.Items; foreach (object item in items) { if (item is MailItem) { MailItem mailItem = item as MailItem; mailItems.Add(mailItem); } } } // Remove PST file from Default Profile outlookNs.RemoveStore(rootFolder); return mailItems; } } } Note: This code assumes that Outlook is installed and already configured for the current user. It uses the Default Profile (you can edit the default profile by going to Mail in the Control Panel). One major improvement on this code would be to create a temporary profile to use instead of the Default, then destroy it once completed.

  • WPF: Animating TranslateTransform from code

    - by ghostskunks
    I have a WPF canvas on which I'm dynamically creating objects from code. These objects are being transformed by setting the RenderTransform property, and an animation needs to be applied one of those transforms. Currently, I can't get properties of any transform to animate (although no exception gets raised and the animation appears to run - the completed event gets raised). In addition, if the animation system is stressed, sometimes the Storyboard.Completed event is never raised. All the examples I've come accross animate the transforms from XAML. MSDN documentation suggests that the x:Name property of a transform must be set for it to be animatable, but I haven't found a working way to set it from code. Any ideas? Here's the full code listing that reproduces the problem: using System; using System.Diagnostics; using System.Windows; using System.Windows.Controls; using System.Windows.Input; using System.Windows.Media; using System.Windows.Media.Animation; using System.Windows.Shapes; namespace AnimationCompletedTest { /// <summary> /// Interaction logic for MainWindow.xaml /// </summary> public partial class MainWindow : Window { Canvas panel; public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); MouseDown += DoDynamicAnimation; Content = panel = new Canvas(); } void DoDynamicAnimation(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs args) { for (int i = 0; i < 12; ++i) { var e = new Ellipse { Width = 16, Height = 16, Fill = SystemColors.HighlightBrush }; Canvas.SetLeft(e, Mouse.GetPosition(this).X); Canvas.SetTop(e, Mouse.GetPosition(this).Y); var tg = new TransformGroup(); var translation = new TranslateTransform(30, 0); tg.Children.Add(translation); tg.Children.Add(new RotateTransform(i * 30)); e.RenderTransform = tg; panel.Children.Add(e); var s = new Storyboard(); Storyboard.SetTarget(s, translation); Storyboard.SetTargetProperty(s, new PropertyPath(TranslateTransform.XProperty)); s.Children.Add( new DoubleAnimation(3, 100, new Duration(new TimeSpan(0, 0, 0, 1, 0))) { EasingFunction = new PowerEase {EasingMode = EasingMode.EaseOut} }); s.Completed += (sndr, evtArgs) => { Debug.WriteLine("Animation {0} completed {1}", s.GetHashCode(), Stopwatch.GetTimestamp()); panel.Children.Remove(e); }; Debug.WriteLine("Animation {0} started {1}", s.GetHashCode(), Stopwatch.GetTimestamp()); s.Begin(); } } [STAThread] public static void Main() { var app = new Application(); app.Run(new MainWindow()); } } }

  • FullCalendar events from asp.net ASHX page not displaying

    - by Steve Howard
Hi I have been trying to add some events to the fullCalendar using a call to a ASHX page using the following code. Page script: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#calendar').fullCalendar({ header: { left: 'prev, next today', center: 'title', right: 'month, agendaWeek, agendaDay' }, events: 'FullCalendarEvents.ashx' }) }); c# code: public class EventsData { public int id { get; set; } public string title { get; set; } public string start { get; set; } public string end { get; set; } public string url { get; set; } public int accountId { get; set; } } public class FullCalendarEvents : IHttpHandler { private static List<EventsData> testEventsData = new List<EventsData> { new EventsData {accountId = 0, title = "test 1", start = DateTime.Now.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd"), id=0}, new EventsData{ accountId = 1, title="test 2", start = DateTime.Now.AddHours(2).ToString("yyyy-MM-dd"), id=2} }; public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { context.Response.ContentType = "application/json."; context.Response.Write(GetEventData()); } private string GetEventData() { List<EventsData> ed = testEventsData; StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); sb.Append("["); foreach (var data in ed) { sb.Append("{"); sb.Append(string.Format("id: {0},", data.id)); sb.Append(string.Format("title:'{0}',", data.title)); sb.Append(string.Format("start: '{0}',", data.start)); sb.Append("allDay: false"); sb.Append("},"); } sb.Remove(sb.Length - 1, 1); sb.Append("]"); return sb.ToString(); } } The ASHX page gets called and returnd the following data: [{id: 0,title:'test 1',start: '2010-06-07',allDay: false},{id: 2,title:'test 2',start: '2010-06-07',allDay: false}] The call to the ASHX page does not display any results, but if I paste the values returned directly into the events it displays correctly. I am I have been trying to get this code to work for a day now and I can't see why the events are not getting set. Any help or advise on how I can get this to work would be appreciated. Steve

  • How can I use WCF with only basichttpbinding, SSL and Basic Authentication in IIS?

    - by Tim
Hello, Is it possible to setup a WCF service with SSL and Basic Authentication in IIS using only BasicHttpBinding-binding? (I can’t use the wsHttpBinding-binding) The site is hosted on IIS 7, with the following authentication set up: - Anonymous access: off - Basic authentication: on - Integrated Windows authentication: off !! Service Config: <services> <service name="NameSpace.SomeService"> <host> <baseAddresses> <add baseAddress="https://hostname/SomeService/" /> </baseAddresses> </host> <!-- Service Endpoints --> <endpoint address="" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingNamespace="http://hostname/SomeMethodName/1" contract="NameSpace.ISomeInterfaceService" name="Default" /> <endpoint address="mex" binding="mexHttpsBinding" contract="IMetadataExchange"/> </service> </services> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior> <!-- To avoid disclosing metadata information, set the value below to false and remove the metadata endpoint above before deployment --> <serviceMetadata httpsGetEnabled="true"/> <!-- To receive exception details in faults for debugging purposes, set the value below to true. Set to false before deployment to avoid disclosing exception information --> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="false"/> <exceptionShielding/> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> I tried 2 types of bindings with two different errors: 1 - IIS Error: 'Could not find a base address that matches scheme http for the endpoint with binding BasicHttpBinding. Registered base address schemes are [https]. <bindings> <basicHttpBinding> <binding> <security mode="TransportCredentialOnly"> <transport clientCredentialType="Basic"/> </security> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> </bindings> 2 - IIS Error: Security settings for this service require 'Anonymous' Authentication but it is not enabled for the IIS application that hosts this service. <bindings> <basicHttpBinding> <binding> <security mode="Transport"> <transport clientCredentialType="Basic"/> </security> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> </bindings> Does somebody know how to configure this correctly? (if possible?)

  • Configuring multiple distinct WCF binding configurations causes an exception to be thrown

    - by Sandor Drieënhuizen
I have a set of IIS7-hosted net.tcp WCF services that serve my ASP.NET MVC web application. The web application is accessed over the internet. WCF Services (IIS7) <--> ASP.NET MVC Application <--> Client Browser The services are username authenticated, the account that a client (of my web application) uses to logon ends up as the current principal on the host. I want one of the services to be authenticated differently, because it serves the view model for my logon view. When it's called, the client is obviously not logged on yet. I figure Windows authentication serves best or perhaps just certificate based security (which in fact I should use for the authenticated services as well) if the services are hosted on a machine that is not in the same domain as the web application. That's not the point here though. Using multiple TCP bindings is what's giving me trouble. I tried setting it up like this: <bindings> <netTcpBinding> <binding> <security mode="TransportWithMessageCredential"> <message clientCredentialType="UserName"/> </security> </binding> <binding name="public"> <security mode="Transport"> <message clientCredentialType="Windows"/> </security> </binding> </netTcpBinding> </bindings> The thing is that both bindings don't seem to want live together in my host. When I remove either of them, all's fine but together they produce the following exception on the client: The requested upgrade is not supported by 'net.tcp://localhost:8081/Service2.svc'. This could be due to mismatched bindings (for example security enabled on the client and not on the server). In the server trace log, I find the following exception: Protocol Type application/negotiate was sent to a service that does not support that type of upgrade. Am I looking into the right direction or is there a better way to solve this?

  • Python: nonblocking read from stdout of threaded subprocess

    - by sberry2A
I have a script (worker.py) that prints unbuffered output in the form... 1 2 3 . . . n where n is some constant number of iterations a loop in this script will make. In another script (service_controller.py) I start a number of threads, each of which starts a subprocess using subprocess.Popen(stdout=subprocess.PIPE, ...); Now, in my main thread (service_controller.py) I want to read the output of each thread's worker.py subprocess and use it to calculate an estimate for the time remaining till completion. I have all of the logic working that reads the stdout from worker.py and determines the last printed number. The problem is that I can not figure out how to do this in a non-blocking way. If I read a constant bufsize then each read will end up waiting for the same data from each of the workers. I have tried numerous ways including using fcntl, select + os.read, etc. What is my best option here? I can post my source if needed, but I figured the explanation describes the problem well enough. Thanks for any help here. EDIT Adding sample code I have a worker that starts a subprocess. class WorkerThread(threading.Thread): def __init__(self): self.completed = 0 self.process = None self.lock = threading.RLock() threading.Thread.__init__(self) def run(self): cmd = ["/path/to/script", "arg1", "arg2"] self.process = subprocess.Popen(cmd, stdout=subprocess.PIPE, bufsize=1, shell=False) #flags = fcntl.fcntl(self.process.stdout, fcntl.F_GETFL) #fcntl.fcntl(self.process.stdout.fileno(), fcntl.F_SETFL, flags | os.O_NONBLOCK) def get_completed(self): self.lock.acquire(); fd = select.select([self.process.stdout.fileno()], [], [], 5)[0] if fd: self.data += os.read(fd, 1) try: self.completed = int(self.data.split("\n")[-2]) except IndexError: pass self.lock.release() return self.completed I then have a ThreadManager. class ThreadManager(): def __init__(self): self.pool = [] self.running = [] self.lock = threading.Lock() def clean_pool(self, pool): for worker in [x for x in pool is not x.isAlive()]: worker.join() pool.remove(worker) del worker return pool def run(self, concurrent=5): while len(self.running) + len(self.pool) > 0: self.clean_pool(self.running) n = min(max(concurrent - len(self.running), 0), len(self.pool)) if n > 0: for worker in self.pool[0:n]: worker.start() self.running.extend(self.pool[0:n]) del self.pool[0:n] time.sleep(.01) for worker in self.running + self.pool: worker.join() and some code to run it. threadManager = ThreadManager() for i in xrange(0, 5): threadManager.pool.append(WorkerThread()) threadManager.run() I have stripped out a log of the other code in hopes to try to pinpoint the issue.

  • Sorting Android ListView

    - by aeoth
I'm only starting with Android dev, and while the Milestone is a nice device Java is not my natural language and I'm struggling with both the Google docs on Android SDK, Eclipse and Java itself. Anyway... I'm writing a microblog client for Android to go along with my Windows client (MahTweets). At the moment I've got Tweets coming and going without fail, the problem is with the UI. The initial call will order items correctly (as in highest to lowest) 3 2 1 When a refresh is made 3 2 1 6 5 4 After the tweets are processed, I'm calling adapter.notifyDataSetChanged(); Initially I thought that getItem() on the Adapter needed to be sorted (and the code below is what I ended up with), but I'm still not having any luck. public class TweetAdapter extends BaseAdapter { private List<IStatusUpdate> elements; private Context c; public TweetAdapter(Context c, List<IStatusUpdate> Tweets) { this.elements = Tweets; this.c = c; } public int getCount() { return elements.size(); } public Object getItem(int position) { Collections.sort(elements, new IStatusUpdateComparator()); return elements.get(position); } public long getItemId(int id) { return id; } public void Remove(int id) { notifyDataSetChanged(); } public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { RelativeLayout rowLayout; IStatusUpdate t = elements.get(position); rowLayout = t.GetParent().GetUI(t, parent, c); return rowLayout; } class IStatusUpdateComparator implements Comparator { public int compare(Object obj1, Object obj2) { IStatusUpdate update1 = (IStatusUpdate)obj1; IStatusUpdate update2 = (IStatusUpdate)obj2; int result = update1.getID().compareTo(update2.getID()); if (result == -1) return 1; else if (result == 1) return 0; return result; } } } Is there a better way to go about sorting ListViews in Android, while still being able to use the LayoutInflater? (rowLayout = t.GetParent().GetUI(t, parent, c) expands the UI to the specific view which the microblog implementation can provide)

  • WPF ListBox not binding to INotifyCollectionChanged or INotifyPropertyChanged Events

    - by Gabe Anzelini
I have the following test code: private class SomeItem{ public string Title{ get{ return "something"; } } public bool Completed { get { return false; } set { } } } private class SomeCollection : IEnumerable<SomeItem>, INotifyCollectionChanged { private IList<SomeItem> _items = new List<SomeItem>(); public void Add(SomeItem item) { _items.Add(item); CollectionChanged(this, new NotifyCollectionChangedEventArgs(NotifyCollectionChangedAction.Reset)); } #region IEnumerable<SomeItem> Members public IEnumerator<SomeItem> GetEnumerator() { return _items.GetEnumerator(); } #endregion #region IEnumerable Members System.Collections.IEnumerator System.Collections.IEnumerable.GetEnumerator() { return _items.GetEnumerator(); } #endregion #region INotifyCollectionChanged Members public event NotifyCollectionChangedEventHandler CollectionChanged; #endregion } private SomeCollection collection = new SomeCollection(); private void Expander_Expanded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { var expander = (Expander) sender; var list = expander.DataContext as ITaskList; var listBox = (ListBox)expander.Content; //list.Tasks.CollectionChanged += CollectionChanged; collection.Add(new SomeItem()); collection.Add(new SomeItem()); listBox.ItemsSource = collection; } and the XAML the outer listbox gets populated on load. when the expander gets expanded i then set the itemssource property of the inner listbox (the reason i do this hear instead of using binding is this operation is quite slow and i only want it to take place if the use chooses to view the items). The inner listbox renders fine, but it doesn't actually subscribe to the CollectionChanged event on the collection. I have tried this with ICollection instead of IEnumerable and adding INotifyPropertyChanged as well as replacing INotifyCollectionChanged with INotifyPropertyChanged. The only way I can actually get this to work is to gut my SomeCollection class and inherit from ObservableCollection. My reasoning for trying to role my own INotifyCollectionChanged instead of using ObservableCollection is because I am wrapping a COM collection in the real code. That collection will notify on add/change/remove and I am trying to convert these to INotify events for WPF. Hope this is clear enough (its late).

  • Very slow compile times on Visual Studio

    - by johnc
We are getting very slow compile times, which can take upwards of 20+ minutes on dual core 2GHz, 2G Ram machines. A lot of this is due to the size of our solution which has grown to 70+ projects, as well as VSS which is a bottle neck in itself when you have a lot of files. (swapping out VSS is not an option unfortunately, so I don't want this to descend into a VSS bash) We are looking at combing projects (not nice, as we like the separation of concerns, but is a good opportunity to refactor away some dead wood). We are also looking at having multiple solutions to achieve greater separation of concerns and quicker compile times for each element of the application. This I can see will become a dll hell as we try to keep things in synch. I am interested to know how other teams have dealt with this scaling issue, what do you do when your code base reaches a critical mass that you are wasting half the day watching the status bar deliver compile messages UPDATE Apologies, I neglected to mention this is a C# solution. Thanks for all the cpp suggestions, but it's been a few years since I've had to worry about headers. At a distance I say I miss C++, but I'm not sure I want to go back EDIT: Nice suggestions that have helped so far (not saying there aren't other nice suggestions below, just what has helped) New 3GHz laptop - the power of lost utilization works wonders when whinging to management Disable Anti Virus during compile 'Disconnecting' from VSS (actually the network) during compile - I may get us to remove VS-VSS integration altogether and stick to using the VSS UI Still not rip-snorting through a compile, but every bit helps. Orion did mention in a comment that generics may have a play also. From my tests there does appear to be a minimal performance hit, but not high enough to sure - compile times can be inconsistent due to disc activity. Due to time limitations, my tests didn't include as many Generics, or as much code, as would appear in live system, so that may accumulate. I wouldn't avoid using generics where they are supposed to be used, just for compile time performance WORKAROUND We are testing the practice of building new areas of the application in new solutions, importing in the latest dlls as required, them integrating them into the larger solution when we are happy with them. We may also do them same to existing code by creating temporary solutions that just encapsulate the areas we need to work on, and throwing them away after reintegrating the code. We need to weigh up the time it will take to reintegrate this code against the time we gain by not having Rip Van Winkle like experiences with rapid recompiling during development.

  • iPhone App IDs and Provisioning... Does App ID get used instead of provisioning ID if I decide to us

    - by Jann
This is a question that has been bugging me for a while. I started my app (now submitted -- not yet approved) not wishing to get into the mess that is APNS (Push). I did the following: iPhone Developer Center: Provisioning Portal-Provisioning: Then I created a Development and a Distribution Provisioning Profile. I installed both in XCode. Everything hunky dory. The Development profile scares me a bit by expiring so soon (90 days) but I can remove it from the iPhone(s) and sign it with a new one later. I tested using the Development profile, and later to submitted it by signing it with the Distribution profile. I then uploaded the Distribution profile-signed app to iTunesConnect (app store). Okay, I understand that much. Now, what I don't understand is this: Now that I understand the theories and methods behind how Push works, I am wishing to add it to my app. I already went under: iPhone Developer Center: Provisioning Portal-App IDs: and created a Development Provisioning Profile and Distribution Provisioning Profile there (push & in-app purchase enabled). Here is where it gets confusing to me. All the books and docs I have read say that I have to sign the app with this "App ID" provisioning profile (push-enabled) from now on. Does that mean I no longer ever use the previously created provisioning profiles? If I were to import these "App ID" provisioning profiles into Xcode they will exist alongside my previously generated "non-push" profiles. ~/Library/Mobile Devices/Provisioning Profiles now has 2 files. One Devel and one Distrib. It will now have 4 even though for this app I will not use the "non-push" anymore right? (actually, since they are locked by using bundle-codes and app ids i will never use it again if all of my further versions of this app use Push?) Confused. Can anyone enlighten me? Why not use the "App ID" profiles in the first place for everyone -- even if you are not gonna use push? Would keep it simpler. Should I only generate "Push Enabled" profiles from now on -- even if i am not sure I am gonna use push (or for that matter in-app purchase)? Please give me some insight. I do not wanna do this wrong. Thanks! Jann

  • iPhone: CGPDFPageRef & CGPDFPageRelease memory leak and cryptic error message

  • Android sending lots of SMS messages

    - by Robert Parker
I have a app, which sends a lot of SMS messages to a central server. Each user will probably send ~300 txts/day. SMS messages are being used as a networking layer, because SMS is almost everywhere and mobile internet is not. The app is intended for use in a lot of 3rd world countries where mobile internet is not ubiquitous. When I hit a limit of 100 messages, I get a prompt for each message sent. The prompt says "A large number of SMS messages are being sent". This is not ok for the user to get prompted each time to ask if the app can send a text message. The user doesn't want to get 30 consecutive prompts. I found this android source file with google. It could be out of date, I can't tell. It looks like there is a limit of 100 sms messages every 3600000ms(1 day) for each application. http://www.netmite.com/android/mydroid/frameworks/base/telephony/java/com/android/internal/telephony/gsm/SMSDispatcher.java /** Default checking period for SMS sent without uesr permit */ private static final int DEFAULT_SMS_CHECK_PERIOD = 3600000; /** Default number of SMS sent in checking period without uesr permit */ private static final int DEFAULT_SMS_MAX_ALLOWED = 100; and /** * Implement the per-application based SMS control, which only allows * a limit on the number of SMS/MMS messages an app can send in checking * period. */ private class SmsCounter { private int mCheckPeriod; private int mMaxAllowed; private HashMap<String, ArrayList<Long>> mSmsStamp; /** * Create SmsCounter * @param mMax is the number of SMS allowed without user permit * @param mPeriod is the checking period */ SmsCounter(int mMax, int mPeriod) { mMaxAllowed = mMax; mCheckPeriod = mPeriod; mSmsStamp = new HashMap<String, ArrayList<Long>> (); } boolean check(String appName) { if (!mSmsStamp.containsKey(appName)) { mSmsStamp.put(appName, new ArrayList<Long>()); } return isUnderLimit(mSmsStamp.get(appName)); } private boolean isUnderLimit(ArrayList<Long> sent) { Long ct = System.currentTimeMillis(); Log.d(TAG, "SMS send size=" + sent.size() + "time=" + ct); while (sent.size() > 0 && (ct - sent.get(0)) > mCheckPeriod ) { sent.remove(0); } if (sent.size() < mMaxAllowed) { sent.add(ct); return true; } return false; } } Is this even the real android code? It looks like it is in the package "com.android.internal.telephony.gsm", I can't find this package on the android website. How can I disable/modify this limit? I've been googling for solutions, but I haven't found anything.

  • popView from UITabBarController inside UINavigationController

    - by Manu
Hi, I'm building an application based on the Utility template from Xcode, to which I have added some more views. My application structure would be as follows: MainView (the app menu) Flip-side view (a calculator) UINavigationController Settings view viewDiDLoad: UITabBarController - Tab1 view (options) - Tab2 view (information text) I can navigate correctly from my MainView to my Flip-side view, which is also the root view of the Navigation Controller. From my Flip-side view, I push a second view of my Navigation Controller (Settings view) that is configured to show an UITabBarController, with two tabs, as soon as it loads (with viewDidLoad). If I remove the UITabBarController, I can return with no problems to my Flip-side view using "popViewController" from my Settings view. The problem comes if I load the UITabBarController in viewDiDLoad in my Settings view... the tabs work perfectly, but I'm not able to return to my Flip-side view (root view of the Navigation Controller) anymore. I CAN return if I use the Navigation Bar of the Navigation Controller, but I want to configure my own buttons and have the Navigation Bar hidden. So far I've tried the following methods: [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:YES]; [self.navigationController popToRootViewControllerAnimated:YES]; [self.navigationController popToViewController:FlipSideViewController animated:YES]; But they don't seem to work. The first two just do nothing (the screen remains as it was), and the third one does not recognize the "FlipsideViewController" (maybe because it's a delegate of the MainViewController?). Is there a way to check what is exactly doing the "back" button of the Navigation Bar if I activate it? Should I be using delegates? Can I call a popViewController method in my Settings view from any of the two Tab views? This is my Flip-side view: - (IBAction)showSettingsView { SettingsViewController *controller = [[SettingsViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SettingsView" bundle:nil]; controller.title = @"Settings"; [self.navigationController pushViewController:controller animated:YES]; [controller release]; } This is my Settings view: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; tabBarController = [[UITabBarController alloc] init]; Tab1ViewController* vc1 = [[Tab1ViewController alloc] init]; Tab2ViewController* vc2 = [[Tab2ViewController alloc] init]; NSArray* controllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:vc1, vc2, nil]; tabBarController.viewControllers = controllers; [self.view addSubview:tabBarController.view]; } And the method to return in one of the Tab views: - (IBAction)backFromTab1View { [self.navigationController popToViewController:FlipSideViewController animated:YES]; } Thanks very much and sorry if the question is too basic!

  • Android mapView ItemizedOverlay setFocus does not work properly

    - by Gaks
Calling setFocus(null) on the ItemizedOverlay does not 'unfocus' current marker. According to the documentation: ... If the Item is not found, this is a no-op. You can also pass null to remove focus. Here's my code: MapItemizedOverlay public class MapItemizedOverlay extends ItemizedOverlay<OverlayItem> { private ArrayList<OverlayItem> items = new ArrayList<OverlayItem>(); public MapItemizedOverlay(Drawable defaultMarker) { super(defaultMarker); } public void addOverlay(OverlayItem overlay) { items.add(overlay); populate(); } @Override protected OverlayItem createItem(int i) { return items.get(i); } @Override public int size() { return items.size(); } } Creating map overlay and one marker: StateListDrawable youIcon = (StateListDrawable)getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.marker_icon); int width = youIcon.getIntrinsicWidth(); int height = youIcon.getIntrinsicHeight(); youIcon.setBounds(-13, 0-height, -13+width, 0); GeoPoint location = new GeoPoint(40800816,-74122009); MapItemizedOverlay overlay = new MapItemizedOverlay(youIcon); OverlayItem item = new OverlayItem(location, "title", "snippet"); overlay.addOverlay(item); mapView.getOverlays().add(overlay); The R.drawable.marker_icon is defined as follows: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:state_focused="true" android:drawable="@drawable/marker_selected" /> <item android:state_selected="true" android:drawable="@drawable/marker_selected" /> <item android:drawable="@drawable/marker_normal" /> </selector> Now, to test the setFocus() behavior I put the button on the activity window, with the following onClick listener: Button focusBtn = (Button)findViewById(R.id.focusbtn); focusBtn.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { for(Overlay ov : mapView.getOverlays()) { if(ov.getClass().getSimpleName().equals("MapItemizedOverlay") == true) { MapItemizedOverlay miv = (MapItemizedOverlay)ov; if(miv.getFocus() == null) miv.setFocus(miv.getItem(0)); else miv.setFocus(null); break; } } mapView.invalidate(); } }); The expected behavior is: clicking on the button toggles marker selection. It works only once - clicking it for the first time selects the marker, clicking it again does not de-select the marker. The most weird thing about it is that after calling setFocus(null), getFocus() also returns null - like the overlay has no focused item (I debugged it). But even after calling mapView.invalidate() the marker is still drawn in 'selected'(focused) state.

  • Switching DataSources on a ReportViewer in WinForms

    - by Mike Wills
I have created a winform for the users to view view the many reports I am creating for them. I have a drop down list with the report name which triggers the appropriate fields to display the parameters. Once those are filled, they press Submit and the report appears. This works the first time they hit the screen. They can change the parameters and the ReportViewer works fine. Change to a different report, and the I get the following ReportViewer error: An error occurred during local report processing. An error has occurred during the report processing. A data source instance has not been supplied for the data source "CgTempData_BusMaintenance". As far as the process I use: I set reportName (string) the physical RDLC name. I set the dataSource (string) as the DataSource Name I fill a generic DataTable with the data for the report to run from. Make the ReportViewer visible Set the LocalReport.ReportPath = "Reports\\" = reportName; Clear the LocalReport.DataSources.Clear() Add the new LocalReport.DataSources.Add(new ReportDataSource(dataSource, dt)); RefreshReport() on the ReportViewer. Here is the portion of the code that setups up and displays the ReportViewer: /// <summary> /// Builds the report. /// </summary> private void BuildReport() { DataTable dt = null; ReportingCG rcg = new ReportingCG(); if (reportName == "GasUsedReport.rdlc") { dataSource = "CgTempData_FuelLog"; CgTempData.FuelLogDataTable DtFuelLog = rcg.BuildFuelUsedTable(fromDate, toDate); dt = DtFuelLog; } else if (reportName == "InventoryCost.rdlc") { CgTempData.InventoryUsedDataTable DtInventory; dataSource = "CgTempData_InventoryUsed"; DtInventory = rcg.BuildInventoryUsedTable(fromDate, toDate); dt = DtInventory; } else if (reportName == "VehicleMasterList.rdlc") { dataSource = "CgTempData_VehicleMaster"; CgTempData.VehicleMasterDataTable DtVehicleMaster = rcg.BuildVehicleMasterTable(); dt = DtVehicleMaster; } else if (reportName == "BusCosts.rdlc") { dataSource = "CgTempData_BusMaintenance"; dt = rcg.BuildBusCostsTable(fromDate, toDate); } // Setup the DataSource this.reportViewer1.Visible = true; this.reportViewer1.LocalReport.ReportPath = "Reports\\" + reportName; this.reportViewer1.LocalReport.DataSources.Clear(); this.reportViewer1.LocalReport.DataSources.Add(new ReportDataSource(dataSource, dt)); this.reportViewer1.RefreshReport(); } Any ideas how to remove all of the old remaining data? Do I dispose the object and recreate it?

  • ASP.NET MVC 2: Updating a Linq-To-Sql Entity with an EntitySet

    - by Simon
I have a Linq to Sql Entity which has an EntitySet. In my View I display the Entity with it's properties plus an editable list for the child entites. The user can dynamically add and delete those child entities. The DefaultModelBinder works fine so far, it correctly binds the child entites. Now my problem is that I just can't get Linq To Sql to delete the deleted child entities, it will happily add new ones but not delete the deleted ones. I have enabled cascade deleting in the foreign key relationship, and the Linq To Sql designer added the "DeleteOnNull=true" attribute to the foreign key relationships. If I manually delete a child entity like this: myObject.Childs.Remove(child); context.SubmitChanges(); This will delete the child record from the DB. But I can't get it to work for a model binded object. I tried the following: // this does nothing public ActionResult Update(int id, MyObject obj) // obj now has 4 child entities { var obj2 = _repository.GetObj(id); // obj2 has 6 child entities if(TryUpdateModel(obj2)) //it sucessfully updates obj2 and its childs { _repository.SubmitChanges(); // nothing happens, records stay in DB } else ..... return RedirectToAction("List"); } and this throws an InvalidOperationException, I have a german OS so I'm not exactly sure what the error message is in english, but it says something along the lines of that the entity needs a Version (Timestamp row?) or no update check policies. I have set UpdateCheck="Never" to every column except the primary key column. public ActionResult Update(MyObject obj) { _repository.MyObjectTable.Attach(obj, true); _repository.SubmitChanges(); // never gets here, exception at attach } I've read alot about similar "problems" with Linq To Sql, but it seems most of those "problems" are actually by design. So am I right in my assumption that this doesn't work like I expect it to work? Do I really have to manually iterate through the child entities and delete, update and insert them manually? For such a simple object this may work, but I plan to create more complex objects with nested EntitySets and so on. This is just a test to see what works and what not. So far I'm disappointed with Linq To Sql (maybe I just don't get it). Would be the Entity Framework or NHibernate a better choice for this scenario? Or would I run into the same problem?

  • Problem using ‘useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy’ & supportedRuntime in an application

    - by Notre
Hello, I've modified a couple of different applications' .config file like this: <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true"> <supportedRuntime version="v4.0"/> </startup> When I did this for devenv.exe.config (VS 2005 - don't ask :) ), things work great - most of the Visual Studio used .NET 2.0 but I was able to make use of an assembly targeting .NET 4.0 framework. I tried to do the same thing for a custom .exe, which happens to be based on MS CAB (slightly modified) and has a hybrid mix of WPF and WinForms content. As soon as I modified this application's app config file, I started getting this exception, sometime during application startup: The Undo operation encountered a context that is different from what was applied in the corresponding Set operation. The possible cause is that a context was Set on the thread and not reverted(undone). System.InvalidOperationException: The Undo operation encountered a context that is different from what was applied in the corresponding Set operation. The possible cause is that a context was Set on the thread and not reverted(undone). There's a big long stack trace that doesn't show anything in my application code directly (just a bunch of MS assemblies). If I modify the application's .config file to this: <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true"> </startup> i.e.I remove the supportedRuntime element, then the application doesn't throw this exception. But when I go to the point in my code where I try to load my .NET 4 assembly, if fails with this: System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly '' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded. I guess this is expected. I have two questions: 1) Any idea why I'm getting the System.InvalidOperationException exception when I modify this application's configuration file to include the supportedRuntime element, adding .NET 4 support and any suggestions on what I can do about it? 2) If the answer is "no idea why/don't know what you can do about it", then is possible for my .NET 3.5 SP1 code (C#) to provide more fine grain support for conditionally adding .NET 4 runtime support for a certain assembly(ies) without converting my entire application to target .NET 4, or without using the declarative config file approach? At some point I would convert the entire application to target .NET 4, but for the short term this is daunting task and I'm hope for some short term solution/hack. Thank you very much for any advice you can give!

  • Datatemplates while using theme does not work - WPF

    - by bobjink
    I am using the theme DarkExpression from WPF Futures. It does not seem to work well with datatemplates. Scenario 1: Here is how it looks like without datatemplates: Pic 1 Code: <ListView Name="playlistListView" ItemsSource="{Binding PlaylistList}" Margin="0" SelectionChanged="DatabindedPlaylistListView_SelectionChanged" Background="{x:Null}" Opacity="0.98"> <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn Width="Auto" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Name}"> <GridViewColumnHeader HorizontalContentAlignment="Left" Content="Playlist" Tag="Playlist"/> </GridViewColumn> </GridView> </ListView.View> </ListView> Scenario 2: Here is how it looks like trying to use datatemplates while using the theme: Pic 2 Code: <ListView Name="playlistListView" ItemsSource="{Binding PlaylistList}" Margin="0" SelectionChanged="DatabindedPlaylistListView_SelectionChanged" Background="{x:Null}" Opacity="0.98"> <ListView.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid> <UserControls:SongDataTemplate Margin="4" /> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </ListView.ItemTemplate> </ListView> Scenario 3: Here is how it looks like trying to use datatemplates while overriding the theme: Pic3 Code: <UserControl.Resources> <Style x:Key="ListViewItemStretch" TargetType="{x:Type ListViewItem}"> <Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Stretch"/> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent" /> </Style> </UserControl.Resources> <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <ListView Name="playlistListView" ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource ListViewItemStretch}" ItemsSource="{Binding PlaylistList}" Margin="0" SelectionChanged="DatabindedPlaylistListView_SelectionChanged" Background="{x:Null}" Opacity="0.98"> <ListView.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid> <UserControls:SongDataTemplate Margin="4" /> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </ListView.ItemTemplate> </ListView> I want to keep the theme style but I also want to use datatemplates to define how a playlist should look like. Any suggestions? Note: In scenario 2 and 3 I had to remove <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn Width="Auto" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Name}"> <GridViewColumnHeader HorizontalContentAlignment="Left" Content="Playlist" Tag="Playlist"/> </GridViewColumn> </GridView> </ListView.View> Before the datatemplate would be used.

  • IIS7 MVC deploy - 404 not found on actions that accept "id" parameter.

    - by majkinetor
Hello. Once deployed parts of my web-application stop working. Index-es on each controller do work, and one form posting via Ajax, Login works too. Other then that yields 404. I understand that nothing particular should be done in integrated mode. I don't know how to proceed with troubleshooting. Some info: App is using default app pool set to integrated mode. WebApp is done in net framework 3.5. I use default routing model. Along web.config in root there is web.config in /View folder referencing HttpNotFoundHandler. OS is Windows Server 2008. Admins issued aspnet_regiis.exe -i IIS 7 Any help is appreciated. Thx. EDIT: I determined that only actions that accept ID parameter don't work. On the contrary, when I add dummy id method in Home controller of default MVC app it works. My Views/Web.config <?xml version="1.0"?> <configuration> <system.web> <httpHandlers> <add path="*" verb="*" type="System.Web.HttpNotFoundHandler"/> </httpHandlers> <!-- Enabling request validation in view pages would cause validation to occur after the input has already been processed by the controller.
