  • How to reboot/shutdown Windows 8 without the mouse?

    Nowadays on Windows 7, if I have no mouse on my computer I just press Win Buttom+-+Enter: This makes my computer to shutdown without using a mouse. However, on Windows 8, I need the mouse to open that hidden menu on the right side of the screen, open the "Settings" tab - "Power" - Then choose for "Shut down", "Sleep" or "Restart": There is some keyboard shortcut to open these shutdowns options on Windows 8 or another way that not just with the mouse pointer?

  • Permission folders redhat10

    Dear all, I have written a data DVD by k3b and now that I paste DVD on my system I have limitation in order to read and write on it's folders. I tried to set their permission but it's not possible. I mean that when I set File access to Read and write and press Apply permission to enclosed files botton, after a few seconds my setting (Read and write) will be disappeared and it returns to ---. Can any one guide m, please? Thanks

  • How do I quickly switch to/from the front panel speakers in Ubuntu?

    I have speakers attached to my front panel sound output that I switch to frequently. Currently the process is to open Terminal, type "alsamixer", scroll over to "Front Panel", and press "M" to activate it. Although this doesn't seem like much, it's a hassle when switching between outputs frequently. Are there any faster alternatives, such as a button that can be placed on the GNOME panel or a shortcut key that can be used?

    I'm looking for a way to take screenshots when I press Ctrl + Prtsc and have them saved as PNG images in C:\Users\Me\Pictures\Screenshots Can I configure Windows 7 to do this? If not, what freeware applications would you recommend (preferably something that I never have to see again (i.e. it sits quietly in the system tray) once I install and configure it)?

    Hi All, I've known for a long time that F4 key drops down the list in a combo box(drop down) in windows applications. In I.E, the address box drops down if you press F4 anywhere in the page. This is NOT what I had expected, though. However, what I want to know is, in Windows(at least), what is the key combination that will drop down the list of a drop down control(combo box) in a web browser (say, Firefox or Chrome) ?   • My hard drive can only boot once every two times

    Hi all, I just installed a Kingston 64 GB SSD into my laptop, replacing the old 80 GB 5400 RPM one. The drive starts up and works fine every other time. For example, if I'm running normally, and press "Restart", I get: 2100 Initialization error on HDD0. I turn off the computer manually, restart, and...it boots into Ubuntu again. This happens every other time without fail...anyone know what the problem could be?

    Hello all, I'm using Windows Vista, and I was wondering if I can put shortcuts for applications.Like for example, if I press a certain combination of keys I get notepad, or something like that. If those shortcuts were already there, how can I know them?   • Acer Aspire 5315 Boot order doesn't show CD-ROM

    Hi, I have an ACER ASPIRE 5315 laptop. I want use the recovery disk but, the boot manager does not show the CD-ROM bootable option. In the BIOS settings the I set the boot priority to USB CD-ROM first and then the harddrive. But its not working. When I press F12 the boot manager doesnot show the USB CD-ROM device. Please assist.   • Prevent "^C" from being printed when aborting editing current prompt

    When you're editing a prompt in bash, and then press Ctrl-C to abort it, "^C" might get printed where the cursor has been. When you were in the middle of the line, this makes copy'n'pasting more difficult and IIRC it can be configured to not display it (and overwrite parts of the command line). I do not have this problem myself (using zsh, which does not print "^C"), but ran across this in a Konsole bug report.

    I'm having trouble setting a keyboard shortcut in Ubuntu. Trying to use the win (super) key as a modifier, but as soon as I press the win key the keyboard shortcut UI just assumes I wanted to use just that key. I figure the easiest thing would be to modify the settings file itself, where I should be able to put in whatever I want. But I can't figure out where that's stored. Does anyone know?
