  • NSMutableObject from existing custom class

    - by A.S.
Hello there. I have an existing class that has methods to deserialise from XML in my code. Now I need to create correct CoreData model from that class. It's objects will be created not only from CoreData storage but also by deserializing XML (somehow like instance->title = [[NSString stringWithUTF8String: (const char *)subNode->children->content] retain; ) without saving to CoreData, and sometimes I need to save it. What is the correct steps to modify existing class to do that except of adding CoreData framework and making my class an NSManagedObject instead of NSObject? Class sample: @interface TSTSong : NSManagedObject<NTSerializableObject> { NSString *identifier; NSString *title; float length; NSURL *previewURL; NSString *author; NSURL *coverURL; NSString *appStoreId; BOOL isPurchased; NSURL *bannerURL; NSDecimalNumber *priceValue; NSLocale *priceLocale; } P.S. I'm noob, so I'f I'm doing smth. wrong - please let me know. Sorry for my english.

  • Why does CGPDFPageGetDrawingTransform() crash with SIGABRT when specifying a rotation?

    - by David
When I call CGPDFPageGetDrawingTransform() with a rotation argument, the application crashes. If I specify no rotation, there is no crash. Here is my drawLayer:inContext: method: - (void)drawLayer:(CALayer*)layer inContext:(CGContextRef)context { CGContextSetRGBFillColor(context, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0); CGRect boundingBox = CGContextGetClipBoundingBox(context); CGContextFillRect(context, boundingBox); //convert to UIKit native coodinate system CGContextTranslateCTM(context, 0.0, self.bounds.size.height); CGContextScaleCTM(context, 1.0, -1.0); //Rotate the pdf_page CGAffineTransform pfd_transform = CGPDFPageGetDrawingTransform(self.page, kCGPDFCropBox, self.frame, 58.46f, true); CGContextSaveGState (context); CGContextConcatCTM (context, pfd_transform); CGContextClipToRect (context, self.frame); CGContextDrawPDFPage (context, self.page); CGContextRestoreGState (context); } In the long run, I would like to rotate the pdf dynamically to follow a users heading. Maybe I am going at this all wrong... Thank you for your time.

  • Do I need to use decimal places when using floats? Is the "f" suffix necessary?

    - by Paulo Fierro
I've seen several examples in books and around the web where they sometimes use decimal places when declaring float values even if they are whole numbers, and sometimes using an "f" suffix. Is this necessary? For example: [UIColor colorWithRed:0.8 green:0.914 blue:0.9 alpha:1.00]; How is this different from: [UIColor colorWithRed:0.8f green:0.914f blue:0.9f alpha:1.00f]; Does the trailing "f" mean anything special? Getting rid of the trailing zeros for the alpha value works too, so it becomes: [UIColor colorWithRed:0.8 green:0.914 blue:0.9 alpha:1]; So are the decimal zeros just there to remind myself and others that the value is a float? Just one of those things that has puzzled me so any clarification is welcome :)

  • Can you cross-site ping another site using C# or JS/Ajax?

    - by Josh Harris
On our web application I am trying to ping a 3rd party site to see if it is up before redirecting our customers to it. So far I have not seen a way to do this other than from a desktop app or system console. Is this possible? I have heard that there was an image trick in original ASP. Currently we are using .NET MVC with Javascript. Thank you, Josh

  • Adjust size of MPMediaPickerController's view ?

    - by Mr.Gando
In my application I don't use the upper bar that displays Wi-Fi/Date/Time because it's a game. However I need to be able to let my user to pick his music, so I'm using a MPMediaPickerController. The problem is, that when I present my controller, the controller ends up leaving a 10 pixels ( aprox ) bar at the top of the screen, just in the place the Wi-Fi/Date/Time bar, should be present. Is there a way I could make my MPMediaPickerController bigger ? or to be presented upper in the screen ? // Configures and displays the media item picker. - (void) showMediaPicker: (id) sender { MPMediaPickerController *picker = [[MPMediaPickerController alloc] initWithMediaTypes: MPMediaTypeAnyAudio]; [[picker view] setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 480)]; picker.delegate = self; picker.allowsPickingMultipleItems = YES; picker.prompt = NSLocalizedString (@"AddSongsPrompt", @"Prompt to user to choose some songs to play"); [self presentModalViewController:picker animated: YES]; [picker release]; } There I tried to set the size to 320x480 but no luck, the picker is still presented and leaves a space in the upper part of the screen, could anyone help me ? Btw, here's how it looks: I have asked a bit, and people told me this could indeed be a bug, what do you guys think ?

  • Change UIImagePicker Navigation Bar style to blue

    - by vodkhang
    All of my view has a blue navigation bar but when I want user to choose a photo, the UIImagePicker is black. I tried to set the navigation bar of UIImagePickerController to blue using UIBarStyleDefault but it does not work for me, the color is still black. I tried with other UIBarStyle like UIBarStyleBlack and UIBarStyleOpaque as well but it doesn't change the navigation bar of the picker anyway. Here is my code // Let the user choose a new photo. UIImagePickerController *imagePicker = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; imagePicker.delegate = self; imagePicker.navigationBar.barStyle = UIBarStyleDefault; [self presentModalViewController:imagePicker animated:YES]; [imagePicker release];

  • UITableViewCellStyleDefault label width

    - by Rob Bonner
Hello all, I am getting some odd behavior from stock table cells, or maybe not odd, maybe I am making some assumptions. I create the cells as follows: cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; Then I assign an image to the default imageView property. My image usually comes in from a user, so it might be larger than the default size. To take care of this I: [cell.imageView setContentMode:UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFit]; which I expected to scale the image for me within the control, but in reality, the images are all over the map. So, is there a proper way to constrain the image in stock cell types? Thanks in advance!

  • Multiple ParticleSystems in cocos2d

    - by Mattias Akerman
I wonder about what road I should go with ParticleSystem. In this particular case I want to create 1-20 small explosions at the same time but with different positions. Right now I'm creating a new ParticleSystem for each explosion and then release it, but of course this is very punishing to the performance. My question is: Is there a way to create one ParticleSystem with multiple emitting sources. If not should I create an array of ParticleSystem in init and then use a free one when an explosion is needed? Or is there another approach I haven't thought of?

  • What does the Microsoft.WebApplication.targets import do in VS 2010 web application projects?

    - by Simon
Visual Studio 2010 seems to insist on having this import in web application projects <Import Project="$(MSBuildExtensionsPath32)\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets" /> What does this import give us and is it really required? On a side note if you remove this import with a text editor Visual studio will re-add it. The reason i am asking is when the project is compiled on a build server that target does nor exists because visual studio is not installed.

  • Detecting Touches in an OpenGL rendered scene

    - by Icky
Hey. I was wondering whether there is a way to detect a touch in an OpenGL rendered scene. What I have i a set of images which are being rendered in my main view. Now if the user touches one of these images (or objects) I would like to know which one was touched - similar to the CGRectContainsPoint(frame, [touch locationInView:self.view] method. Is there an easy way to find out? If there is none, this would also help.

  • call method in a subclass of UIView

    - by rdesign
Hey, I've got a UIViewController and an own class, a subclass of UIView. In my ViewController I make a instance of the uiview. If I tap the uiview a function gets called within it and an overlay appears. TO get rid of that overlay later the user has to tap somewhere on the screen(besides the instance of my class) How do I tell my class to dismiss the overlay? I already thought of delegate. So my thoughts were to make a MyUIViewControllerdelegate. If my viewcontroller receives a tap the delegate should be called. THe only problem is how do I tell my subclass that it should receive that delegate? I Have no instance of my viewcontroller in my subclass so I can not set the delegate. Any Ideas? Hope my problem is clear :) Thanks a lot

  • Create a UIView Subclass that calls a delegate function whenever it's parent viewController appears?

    - by Andrew Johnson
UIViewControllers have viewWillAppear, viewDidDisappear, etc. delegate methods. I would like to create a UIView subclass that can be added to a viewController's view, and when that UIViewController apears or disappears, a delegate function is called. I could easily do this by putting function calls in the UIViewController viewWillAppear/viewWillDisappear delegate functions, but how can I encapsulate this behavior in the UIView?

  • How to implement "circular side-scrolling" in my game?

    - by Mr.Gando
I'm developing a game, a big part of this game, is about scrolling a "circular" background ( the right end of the Background Image can connect with the left start of the Background image ). Should be something like this: ( Entity moving and arrow to show where the background should start to repeat ) This happens in order to allow to have an Entity walking, and the background repeating itself over and over again. I'm not working with tile-maps, the background is a simple Texture (400x300 px). Could anyone point me to a link , or tell me the best way I could accomplish this ? Thanks a lot.

  • CoreData : store images to DB or not?

    - by Meko
    Hi.I am making an app that it takes photos from web site for some Username and shows it on UITable with username then when clicking user name it shows photos for this user and then clicking to name of photo it shows full screen photo. My question is I am using NSData to get photos from internet.Am I have to save also those data to CoreDAta? I am using like when pressing name of user it again creates NSData and downloads photos from internet and shows them on UTable. And it takes time. What is good approach? and How can save this images to CoreDAta? I am using this method NSData *imageData=[flickr dataForPhotoID:firstPhoto.id fromFarm:firstPhoto.farm onServer:firstPhoto.server withSecret:firstPhoto.secret inFormat: FlickrFetcherPhotoFormatSquare]; and here definition of dataForPtohoID method - (NSData *)dataForPhotoID:(NSString *)photoID fromFarm:(NSString *)farm onServer:(NSString *)server withSecret:(NSString *)secret inFormat:(FlickrFetcherPhotoFormat)format { #if TEST_HIGH_NETWORK_LATENCY sleep(1); #endif NSString *formatString; switch (format) { case FlickrFetcherPhotoFormatSquare: formatString = @"s"; break; case FlickrFetcherPhotoFormatLarge: formatString = @"b"; break; } NSString *photoURLString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://farm%@.static.flickr.com/%@/%@_%@_%@.jpg", farm, server, photoID, secret, formatString]; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:photoURLString]; return [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:url]; }

  • How to update the user profile through tokenid when a particular user logs in using his username and password

i have an application in which when the user enters his username and password in the login form , his username and password are submitted to the server database for validation and if he is a valid user a tokenid is generated for him through JSON response and he is allowed to log in.this is the JSON response that i get in the console when a valid user log in through the log in form : {"TokenID":"kaenn43otO","isError":false,"ErrorMessage":"","Result":[{"UserId":"164","FirstName":"Indu","LastName":"nair","Email":"[email protected]","ProfileImage":null,"ThumbnailImage":null,"DeviceInfoId":"22"}],"ErrorCode":900} 2011-06-24 11:56:57.639 Journey[5526:207] this is token id:kaenn43otO so when the same user wants to update his profile by clicking on the update tab using the tokenid So that if he want he can his firstname,lastname,password,email.etc.i i have done the following code to update the user profile using tokenid but it does not work.i get tokenid when the user log in and this tokenid i have to pass to other class: this is my code to update user profile: -(void)sendRequest { //this is the class in which i get the tokenid and i am passing it to this class apicontroller *apitest = [[apicontroller alloc]init]; NSString *tokentest = apitest.tokenapi; NSString *post = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Token=%@&firstname=%@&lastname=%@&Username=%@&Password=%@&Email=%@",tokentest,txtfirstName.text,txtlast.text,txtUserName.text,txtPassword.text,txtEmail.text]; NSData *postData = [post dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding allowLossyConversion:YES]; NSString *postLength = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", [postData length]]; NSLog(@"%@",postLength); NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] init] autorelease]; [request setURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://192.168.0.1:96/JourneyMapperAPI?RequestType=Register&Command=SET"]]; [request setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; [request setValue:postLength forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Length"]; [request setValue:@"application/x-www-form-urlencoded" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Type"]; [request setHTTPBody:postData]; NSURLConnection *theConnection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:self]; if (theConnection) { webData = [[NSMutableData data] retain]; NSLog(@"%@",webData); [theConnection start]; } else { } } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveResponse:(NSURLResponse *)response { [webData setLength: 0]; } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data { [webData appendData:data]; } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { [connection release]; [webData release]; } -(void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { NSString *loginStatus = [[NSString alloc] initWithBytes: [webData mutableBytes] length:[webData length] encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; NSLog(@"%@",loginStatus); [loginStatus release]; [connection release]; [webData release]; } -(IBAction)click:(id)sender { [self sendRequest]; } this is my apicontroller.m file in which i am creating login form so that user login and in this page tokenid is generated -(void)sendRequest { UIDevice *device = [UIDevice currentDevice]; NSString *udid = [device uniqueIdentifier]; //NSString *sysname = [device systemName]; NSString *sysver = [device systemVersion]; NSString *model = [device model]; NSLog(@"idis:%@",[device uniqueIdentifier]); NSLog(@"system nameis :%@",[device systemName]); NSLog(@"System version is:%@",[device systemVersion]); NSLog(@"System model is:%@",[device model]); NSLog(@"device orientation is:%d",[device orientation]); NSString *post = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Loginkey=%@&Password=%@&DeviceCode=%@&Firmware=%@&IMEI=%@",txtUserName.text,txtPassword.text,model,sysver,udid]; NSData *postData = [post dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding allowLossyConversion:YES]; NSString *postLength = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", [postData length]]; NSLog(@"%@",postLength); NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] init] autorelease]; [request setURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://192.168.0.1:96/JourneyMapperAPI?RequestType=Login"]]; [request setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; [request setValue:postLength forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Length"]; [request setValue:@"application/x-www-form-urlencoded" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Type"]; [request setHTTPBody:postData]; NSURLConnection *theConnection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:self]; if (theConnection) { webData = [[NSMutableData data] retain]; NSLog(@"%@",webData); } else { } } //to select username and password from database. -(void)check { //app.journeyList = [[NSMutableArray alloc]init]; [self createEditableCopyOfDatabaseIfNeeded]; NSString *filePath = [self getWritableDBPath]; sqlite3 *database; if(sqlite3_open([filePath UTF8String], &database) == SQLITE_OK) { const char *sqlStatement = "SELECT Username,Password FROM UserInformation where Username=?
