  • Notification API for windows

    - by Peter Hoffmann
Linux has libnotify and OS X has growl. Is there some kind of Notification API for Windows too? It should be accessible via .Net languages. Clarification: Yes I'm looking for an way to send notification to the user, but it won't harm if one can subscribe to certain events with programs too. The linux libnotify uses a system wide D-Bus messaging system, which can handle all kind of events.

    - by idbin.cath0br0
Hello. I'm currently looking for a QBE tool that can execute queries on PostgreSQL or MySQL. OS doesn't really matter. Reason is that we've got to do QBE at school but I don't want to use neither Microsoft Access nor OpenOffice.org Base (lack of features). Any help would be appreciated.

  • how to implement ws-security 1.1 in php5

    - by Sam Segers
I'm trying to call a webservice with Soap in PHP5, for this, I need to use WS-Security 1.1. (In java and .NET this is all generated automatically.) Are there any frameworks available to generate the security headers easily in PHP? Or do I have to add the entire header myself ? Specifications of WS-Security 1.1: http://oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/16790/wss-1.1-spec-os-SOAPMessageSecurity.pdf

  • Could my iPad app be denied from the app store for using the Tapku library?

    - by Dr Dork
I'd like to use the Tapku library to add a calander date picker control to my iPad app. I'm new to iPhone OS development and I'm still rusty on identifying the 3rd party tools and code that will get my iPad app denied from the app store. For those that have used the Tapku library, would using it in my iPad app violate any app store rules? Thanks so much in advance for your help. I'm going to continue researching this question right now.

  • is c++ STL algorithms and containers same across platforms and performance?

    - by Abhilash M
After learning good amount of c++, i'm now into STL containers and algorithms template library, my major concerns are, 1) Is this library same across different platforms like MS, linux n other os? 2) will quality or efficiency of program c++ module decrease with more use of STL containers and algorithms, i think i can't customize it to all needs. 3) Is this template library good to use in linux system programming, kernel modules? 4) lastly can i use this in programming contests, because it relives a lot of coding and pressure off shoulders.

  • Equivalent of Backticks in Python

    - by Chris Bunch
What is the equivalent of the backticks found in Ruby and Perl in Python? That is, in Ruby I can do this: foo = `cat /tmp/baz` What does the equivalent statement look like in Python? I've tried os.system("cat /tmp/baz") but that puts the result to standard out and returns to me the error code of that operation.

  • mounting ext4 fs with block size of 65536

    - by seaquest
I am doing some benchmarking on EXT4 performance on Compact Flash media. I have created an ext4 fs with block size of 65536. however I can not mount it on ubuntu-10.10-netbook-i386.
