• Selenium: Get current value from drop-down menu

  Hi there. I'm trying to find a simple Selenium call to grab the current option from a select drop-down list.   I'm sure the answer is ridiculously obvious, but so far Google hasn't been very helpful. How do I set up a shell script to execute from the dock? It seems that simply creating a shortcut will open the file in my editor. Is there a flag I need to set somewhere to tell it to run instead of opening it for editing?

• Drop shadow on a div container?

  I have a searchbox with auto-suggest that pops a div up underneath it with multiple search string suggestions (like google). Is it possible to have drop shadow on the auto-suggest box with CSS or will I need a script of some sort? I tried a background image but the number of suggests can vary from 1 to 10 or 15. I'd prefer something that works in IE6+ and FF2+ if possible. Thanks!

  I've noticed that on some sites, when you request a password reminder or sign in, they'll tell you if the user doesn't exist (I think Meetup does this). Other sites will simply say "the user/password combination is invalid" (Google, I believe, does this). Is there a security reason for not revealing the existence of a user id?

  Hi, I would like to ask if I have a table of events on my database, e.g. description | startdt | enddt event1 | 2010-04-01 10:00:00 | 2010-04-01 13:00:00 event2 | 2010-04-09 14:00:00 | 2010-04-09 18:00:00 event3 | 2010-04-30 11:00:00 | 2010-05-02 16:00:00 I have already created a php calendar, how can I display these above events onto my calendar, so that it will look something like the google calendar? e.g. on the for 2010-04-01, it will display "event1" on the month calendar. • Executing JavaScript with Python without X.

  I want to parse a html-page that unfortunately requires JavaScript to show any content. In order to do so I use a small python-script that pulls the html-code of the page, but after that I have to execute the JavaScript in a DOM-context which seems pretty hard. To make it even harder I want to use it in a server environment that has no X11-server. Note: I already read about http://code.google.com/p/pywebkitgtk/ but it seems to need a X-server.

  hi does anyone know any sort of app that lets users visit a page on their mobile phone, enter information and have it update the website i believe the term is "mobile-blogging" but there isn't all that much on google or, is there any good resources for coding pages specifically for a mobile phone? I could probably design a script to insert blog posts on a site but not sure how it would work with a mobile. thanks for any pointers

• dotted stroke in <canvas>

  I guess it is not possible to set stroke property such as CSS which is quite easy. With CSS we have dashed, dotted, solid but on canvas when drawing lines/or strokes this doesn't seem to be an option. How have you implemented this?   I have a textarea with a default value of http://. Now when an user pastes in an url (if they don't know what they are doing, like most people) it comes out like this http://http://www.google.com. I've seen a site that as soon as you have http://http:// it removes one via Ajax. I am not familiar with Ajax, so can anyone help me? I don't want to clear the field on focus only.

The Python Image Library (PIL) has tools for stepping through an already existing multi-page TIFF, but nothing about creating them. Libraries would hopefully be available on Windows, for Python 2.6. If there's some freeware out there which will do the trick, I wouldn't mind seeing it, but I was hoping I could accomplish this in Python.

• sIFR: page refresh causes background images problems in IE8

  I'm using sIFR 3 r436. When a page is reloaded, and often also on load, in IE8 the background image does'nt appear completely. When clicking on an intern link the background is displayed correctly. Google Chrome has also minor problems in displaying.
