  • Is it possible to download extremely large files intelligently or in parts via SSH from Linux to Windows?

    - by Andrew
I have a ~35 GB file on a remote Linux Ubuntu server. Locally, I am running Windows XP, so I am connecting to the remote Linux server using SSH (specifically, I am using a Windows program called SSH Secure Shell Client version 3.3.2). Although my broadband internet connection is quite good, my download of the large file often fails with a Connection Lost error message. I am not sure, but I think that it fails because perhaps my internet connection goes out for a second or two every several hours. Since the file is so large, downloading it may take 4.5 to 5 hours, and perhaps the internet connection goes out for a second or two during that long time. I think this because I have successfully downloaded files of this size using the same internet connection and the same SSH software on the same computer. In other words, sometimes I get lucky and the download finishes before the internet connection drops for a second. Is there any way that I can download the file in an intelligent way -- whereby the operating system or software "knows" where it left off and can resume from the last point if a break in the internet connection occurs? Perhaps it is possible to download the file in sections? Although I do not know if I can conveniently split my file into multiple files -- I think this would be very difficult, since the file is binary and is not human-readable. As it is now, if the entire ~35 GB file download doesn't finish before the break in the connection, then I have to start the download over and overwrite the ~5-20 GB chunk that was downloaded locally so far. Do you have any advice? Thanks.

  • Removing/modifying LDAP objectclasses/attributes using olc

    - by Foezjie
    I'm having trouble using openldap's olc to modify a schema without shutting down the server. To test some things out, I made the following schema: objectIdentifier tests orgUlyssisOID:4 objectIdentifier testAttribute tests:1 objectIdentifier testObjectClass tests:2 attributeType ( testAttribute:1 NAME 'attr1' DESC 'attribuut 1' SYNTAX '1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.40' ) attributeType ( testAttribute:2 NAME 'attr2' DESC 'attribuut 2' SUP userPassword SINGLE-VALUE ) objectclass ( testObjectClass:1 NAME 'class1' DESC 'objectclass 1' SUP top STRUCTURAL MUST (attr1 $ attr2 ) ) And added it to a new schema called test. (cn={9}test.ldif in cn=schema). Now I can't seem to figure out how to delete class1 from that schema. I use the following LDIF (and tried lots of variations too, to no avail) dn : cn={9}test,cn=schema,cn=config changetype: modify delete: olcObjectClasses olcObjectClasses: ( testObjectClass:1 NAME 'class1' DESC 'objectclass 1' SUP top STRUCTURAL MUST ( attr1 $ attr2 ) ) Running ldapmodify -x -W -D cn=admin,cn=config -f test.ldif -d 0 gives no output. -d 1 gives this: ldap_create ldap_sasl_bind ldap_send_initial_request ldap_new_connection 1 1 0 ldap_int_open_connection ldap_connect_to_host: TCP localhost:389 ldap_new_socket: 4 ldap_prepare_socket: 4 ldap_connect_to_host: Trying 127.0.0.1:389 ldap_pvt_connect: fd: 4 tm: -1 async: 0 ldap_open_defconn: successful ldap_send_server_request ber_scanf fmt ({it) ber: ber_scanf fmt ({i) ber: ber_flush2: 38 bytes to sd 4 ldap_result ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 wait4msg ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 (infinite timeout) wait4msg continue ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 all 1 ** ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 Connections: * host: localhost port: 389 (default) refcnt: 2 status: Connected last used: Mon Sep 10 11:29:57 2012 ** ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 Outstanding Requests: * msgid 1, origid 1, status InProgress outstanding referrals 0, parent count 0 ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 request count 1 (abandoned 0) ** ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 Response Queue: Empty ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 response count 0 ldap_chkResponseList ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 all 1 ldap_chkResponseList returns ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 NULL ldap_int_select read1msg: ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 all 1 ber_get_next ber_get_next: tag 0x30 len 12 contents: read1msg: ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 message type bind ber_scanf fmt ({eAA) ber: read1msg: ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 0 new referrals read1msg: mark request completed, ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 request done: ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 res_errno: 0, res_error: <>, res_matched: <> ldap_free_request (origid 1, msgid 1) ldap_parse_result ber_scanf fmt ({iAA) ber: ber_scanf fmt (}) ber: ldap_msgfree ldap_free_connection 1 1 ldap_send_unbind ber_flush2: 7 bytes to sd 4 ldap_free_connection: actually freed So no real indication of an error. • CloneZilla Broke My System? Ubunut Installation Lost After Running CloneZilla

    - by nicorellius
I just read through this post and tried to get my installation back using this answer to no avail. What happened to me is this: I spent an hour or more reading through the CloneZilla docs. I thought I was ready to test it out so I burned the disc with the ISO image on it and ran it. The system I used was Ubuntu 10.04, 32-bit. Everything seemed to go fine. I made a clone of my first partition and copied it to my second partition. I followed the instructions, removed the disc and rebooted my system. At this point, I would expect to have two bootable Linux installations, identical to one another. However, upon booting, I got this error message: error: no such device: 4cf1a6ef-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-4e3a3ce92bcd error: file not found I booted from a Live Ubuntu disc and was able to see my to partitions: 4cf1(1) and 4cf1(2) (abbreviated, because the volumes have long numbers to identify them). The 50 GB partition, on which the original Ubuntu installation sits is the number and the second partition (175 GB) is the same number with an "_" at the end. I could browse the disc partitions and see the files, but I'm not sure what to do next. I know there is a way to restore my grub loader and actually boot either of these installations, but my Linux know-how is limited. Can I edit the boot loader file to fix this problem? The only clue I have is CloneZilla said something about making a new GRUB but I thought it was going to basically modify it so I could boot either installation. Not sure what happened. I am going to look through this post for the time being to see if I can learn anything to help my problem. But I thought that, since this happened as a result of using CloneZilla, it may be a unique question for this board.

  • Why is crontab giving "No such file or directory" error when the file DOES exist?

    - by fettereddingoskidney
I am getting the following three lines in an error message in /var/mail/username after the following job runs in crontab... 15 * * * * /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/iconimageryidx/includes/insertPropertyRESI.php Errors: /applications/mamp/htdocs/iconimageryidx/includes/insertpropertyRESI.php: line 1: ?php: No such file or directory /applications/mamp/htdocs/iconimageryidx/includes/insertpropertyRESI.php: line 3: syntax error near unexpected token `'initialize.php'' /applications/mamp/htdocs/iconimageryidx/includes/insertpropertyRESI.php: line 3: `require_once('initialize.php'); The PHP script I am trying to execute DOES in fact exist, and I have made absolutely sure the spelling is correct several times. I ran a crontab on another script before and it worked just fine...any ideas?? The 2nd & 3rd Errors are from line 3 in the following script (the one I am trying to run with the crontab): <?php require_once('initialize.php'); require_once('insertPropertyTypes.php'); $sDate; if(isset($_GET['startDate'])) { $sDate = $_GET['startDate']; } else { $sDate = ''; } $insertResi = new InsertPropertyTypes('Listing', $sDate, 'RESI'); ?> When I run my script insertPropertyRESI.php in the browser, it runs just fine???? Also, initialize.php and insertPropertyTypes.php are in the same directory as insertPropertyRESI.php I am using MAMP with PHP 5.3.5 thakns for the help :?

  • PostgreSQL pg_hba.conf with "password" auth wouldn't work with PHP pg_connect?

    - by tftd
I've recently experimented with the settings in pg_hba.conf. I read the PostgreSQL documentation and I though that the "password" auth method is what I want. There are many people that have access to the server PostgreSQL is working on so I don't want the "trust" method. So I changed it. But then PHP stopped working with the database. The message I get is "Warning: pg_connect(): Unable to connect to PostgreSQL server: FATAL: password authentication failed for user "myuser" in /my/path/to/connection/class.php on line 35". It is kind of strange because I can connect via phppgadmin without any problems and also I can connect from my home computer with psql - again without any problems. This is my pg_hba.conf: # TYPE DATABASE USER CIDR-ADDRESS METHOD # "local" is for Unix domain socket connections only local all all password # IPv4 local connections: host all all 127.0.0.1/32 password # IPv6 local connections: host all all ::1/128 password The connection string I'm using with pg_conenct is: $connect_string = "host=localhost port=5432 dbname=mydbname user=auser password=apassword"; $dbConnection = pg_connect($connection_string); Does anybody know why is this happening ? Did I misconfigured something ?

  • Connecting to my home router web interface from work

    - by Joe
Hi, I'm trying to connect to my home router web interface from work. I use dyndns, because I don't have a static IP at home, and it works perfectly from any other place except my workplace (update: I made a mistake, see edit below). When trying to access the web interface from work I get a "500 Server Error" with the code: SERVER_RESPONSE_RESET. I'm not trying to use any protocols such as remote desktop, I'm only trying to access the web interface. I can access any other web page from my workplace with no problems, and I think my router web interface is like any other web page, isn't it? I thought maybe my work place proxy blocks addresses of services like dyndns, so I also applied another trick. Since I have a web page on my own domain (say www.mydomain.com) which I can access from work, I tried adding a CNAME to my domain which is linked to the dyndns address (router.mydomain.com). This way if anyone enters the address router.mydomain.com from anywhere, they reach my home router web interface, and there's no way of knowing it's a dyndns address (or is there?). However, it still doesn't work from my workplace (I get the same error message). Any ides? Edit: I'm sorry to say I made a mistake earlier. I used to be able to access my home router web interface from my old workplace, and I thought it was still possible since I don't recall making any configuration changes. However, after reading the replies, I went over to my old workplace and checked, and it doesn't work from there either. I'm very sorry for giving out wrong and misleading information about my problem. So to summarize: my problem is that I can't access my home router web interface from anywhere.

  • Are my Linux symbolic links acting correctly?

    - by Andy Castles
Hi all I've been using Linux on and off for the last 15 years and today I came across something in bash that surprised me. Setup the following directory structure: $ cd /tmp $ mkdir /tmp/symlinktest $ mkdir /tmp/symlinktest/dir $ mkdir /tmp/symlinktarget Now create two sym links in symlinktest pointing to symlinktarget: $ cd /tmp/symlinktest $ ln -s ../symlinktarget Asym $ ln -s ../symlinktarget Bsym Now, in bash, the following tab completion does strange things. Type the following: $ cd dir $ cd ../A[TAB] Pressing the tab key above completes the line to: $ cd ../Asym/ as I expected. Now press enter to change into Asym and type: $ cd ../B[TAB] This time pressing the tab key completes the link to: $ cd ../Bsym[space] Note that there is now a space after the Bsym and there is no trailing slash. My question is, why when changing from the physical directory "dir" to Asym it recognises that Asym is a link to a directory, but when changing from one sym link to another, it doesn't recognise that it's a link to a directory? In addition, if I try to create a new file within Asym, I get an error message: $ cd /tmp/symlinktest/Asym $ cat hello > ../Bsym/file.txt -bash: ../Bsym/file.txt: No such file or directory I always thought that symlinks were mostly transparent except to programs that need to manipulate them. Is this normal behaviour? Many thanks, Andy

  • How can I password protect an IIS directory with only FTP access?

    - by Tony Adams
How can I password protect an IIS directory when I only have FTP access to the server? I can't adjust any IIS settings or add users or anything like that. The answer to: IIS Basic Authorization ala .htaccess/.htpasswd in apache does not help as I only have access to the server via FTP. I just need to password protect a directory. I've tried several variations of a web.config file. I can get a basic HTTP auth form to pop up when a user attempts to load a page from my test directory, but I can't configure the authentication part. The server complains that: Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS. whenever I add an <authentication> section to my web.config. I'm grateful for any help anyone can offer. Edit: I don't know what version of IIS is running on this server, but here is the server tag from error messages: Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:1.1.4322.2490; ASP.NET Version:1.1.4322.2494

  • Dell Driver Support for Latitude E6320 Windows 7 Enterprise

    - by IamPolaris
I recently did a reinstall of Windows 7 Enterprise on a Dell Latitude E6320, which is a 64 bit system. After the install process, and doing typical Windows Update stuff, I looked at my Device Manager and found that I had devices which were missing drivers. My missing drivers: After going to the Dell Support site and looking at the files, and doing some sleuthing I found the following support document: http://downloads.dell.com/utility/Latitude%20E-Family%20%20Mobile%20Precision%20Re-Image%20How-To%20Guide%20-%20A03%20Rev%203%200.pdf This document hints in appendix C that the Broadcom USH is the Control Point Security and the Unknown device is Micro freefall sensor. The network controller is my wireless, as I cannot connect wirelessly, and the final missing driver I am not sure. Attempting to install the control point security exe on the support page will not work. After downloading, I am given the message that I am attempting to install a 32 bit driver on a 64 bit machine EVEN THOUGH I selected the win7 64 bit option from the support page. Beyond that, some of the drivers (Which are confusing to read and hard to understand what they do) and the system utilities which are supposedly supposed to make this process simpler will either a) not run because they are 32 bit exe's or b) the support page cannot find the file attempted to download. Is there anything I can do to get (at the very least) my wireless running, but idealistically all of my drivers. A solution which assumes Dell is completely incompetent would be ideal. :P Some forums have said that I should download the chipset driver, others say to get the system utility file (DSS_UTIL_WIN_R282536.EXE). I have had no luck as of yet...

  • What's the issue with this Samba setup?

    - by Dan Nestor
I asked this on superuser, but I realized that may be the wrong place. I am duplicating the question here, I hope this is allowed. I am trying to share a directory through samba. In smb.conf I have the following: [global] workgroup = WORKGROUP security = user passdb backend = tdbsam netbios name = <hostname> [share_name] path = </path/to/share> writable = yes valid users = <username> <username>, the user in question, is the owner of directory /path/to/share. Permissions on the directory are 755. If I try to connect from another computer, the connection attempt is unsuccessful (I assume it's an authentication error, because it re-prompts me for the password). The client requires a domain name for authentication, I tried both WORKGROUP and the hostname/netbios name of the samba server. Samba logs on the server have no mention of the failed connection attempt. Firewall on the server is down. What am I doing wrong? Update: have since run smbpasswd -a <username> and now I am getting a clear error message, "not enough permissions to view contents of share".

  • Postfix cannot deliver mail to Cyrus mailbox on Ubuntu 11.10 server

    - by user105804
I have installed and configured Postfix and Cyrus IMAP server with webcyradm according to this document - http://www.delouw.ch/linux/Postfix-Cyrus-Web-cyradm-HOWTO/html/index.html . I can access webcyradm interface, I can create new domains and new users, and I can login via IMAP after creating the user account. However, Postfix fails to deliver mail to cyrus mailboxes. Mail log contains errors shown below. Installing any IMAP server other than cyrus is not an option because it is needed by the web application. Please advise me how to make Postfix deliver email to cyrus mailboxes. The solution should not necessary include web-cyradm, but there should be a web interface for managing mail domains and mailboxes as user-friendly as possible. • Eclipse on Ubuntu: Rectangles instead of Strings and some Java methods and classes

    - by Claus Hausberger
after upgrading from Ubuntu 9.04. to 11.04 (new installation), I have weird problems with the Eclipse editor. With the Eclipse PyDev plugin, whenever I typ single quoted strings like 'bla', they appear as rectangles (both the quotes as well as the string). First I thought this was a problem with the PyDev plugin, but it also happens with Java and Scala Plugins. With Java, it happens, for example, when typing System.out.println("bla") and then "out" is shown as rectangles only. Weird is that for about half a second I see "System.out.println" and then the editor changes it to System.[][][].println (not really [] (here I used two brackets), it is shown as rectangles). This is very weird. I've never had this before with any Ubuntu, Java or Eclipse version. Currently, I use: Ubuntu 11.04. Eclipse 3.6 Java 1.6.0_25 The latest plugins for Python (2.1) and Scala (beta 5) where used. Eclipse and Ubuntu Terminal is set to UTF-8. The problem also happens when using KDE instead of Gnome. I doubt is has anything to do with Java as I use the same versions on older Ubuntu installations (10.04, 9.10, etc) at work. It does not happen with Netbeans. But I saw once error dialog message from the Update Manager where there were some rectangles in the error widget. Maybe this is the same problem Any ideas what could be wrong here and how to fix this? Eclipse is unusable but I need this for work and also for Scala and Python (the Eclipse plugins for those are very good now). Claus

  • How do I keep a bridge enabled on a bonded interface?

    - by jlawer
I'm working on setting up a pair of CentOS 6.3 servers that will run a couple of KVM vms and have come across a problem setting up a bridge on a bond. I am using Mode 4 (802.3ad) bonding on a pair of stacked Dell Powerconnect 5524 switches connecting to R320 servers. There are 2 links (1 to each switch) that form a Link Aggregation Group (802.3ad / LACP bonding). On top of the bond I have VLAN Tagging. I've verified this is a problem on multiple other bonding modes so it isn't just a mode 4 issue. I am testing what happens when 1 link is dropped (ie switch dies, cable breaks, etc). If I don't have a bridge (for KVM), everything works fine, failover happens as expected. If I have the bridge enabled, it works fine until failover (unplugging a cable). When failover happens /var/log/messages shows the slave link going down, followed within a second by: kernel: br1: port 1(bond0.8) entering disabled state The thing is /proc/net/bonding/bond0 shows the link is up as expected (simply with only 1 slave instead of 2). If I plug the cable back in it recovers and brings the bridge back to an enabled state. I actually have tested this while a ping is occuring and if the timing is right a packet will actually leave the system after the link is lost, but before the disabled message occurs. This disabled state I assumed was STP, but I have disabled STP on the bridge configuration and this issue still occurs. brctl showstp br1 still shows the link as disabled when it is running without a slave. I also switched between the nics in the server (I have 2x Broadcom & 4x intel). It doesn't matter which configuration I have. Does anyone know of a way to force the bridge to stay enabled or why its detecting the bond as disabled, when it isn't?

  • Cannot connect to remote mail server for sending emails in ASP.NET

    - by Dave
I want to migrate a web application from a Windows Server 2003 to a Windows Server 2008 R2. All works fine except sending emails from the application. If I configure the application to use the smtp server on "localhost" it works, but changing it to the "real" host name (e.g. mail.example.org) no mail is sent. The error message says, that the remote server needs a secure connection or smtp authentication. But since it works when using "localhost" instead of the host name I doubt that this is the problem. Also it's unlikely a problem with the mail server, I also tried it with another one. So for me it seems like the firewall is blocking the outgoing connection to the mail server. I tried to open port 25, but it still did not work. Maybe I just did it the wrong way. Update: For clarifying my setup: I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 with hMailServer installed (set up for some of the hosted domains) For the website I'm talking about I need to use an external mail server (totally different hosting provider) Apparently I was a bit off the track. It seems like it works when using connecting to the local mail server either with the host name "localhost" or "mail.somedomain.com" (while somedomain.com is set up in my mail server). But when using the host name of the external mail server ("mail.externaldomain.com") it seems like it tries to connect to the local server again, although this domain is not set up in the mail server. Thanks to Evan Anderson for the tip to use telnet - why I have not thought of it myself?... :-) Note, the website www.externaldomain.com is hosted on my server but the DNS entries are maintained by the other hosting provider. "externaldomain.com" is the only entry which points to my server all other records (MX, subdomains) are pointing to the other server. So I think the question is now, how do i bring my server to connect to the external mailserver. Do I have to configure this in my mail server or is it a windows server thing?

  • postfix takes 60-90ms to queue email -- normal?

    - by Jeff Atwood
We're seeing some (maybe?) strange delays when submitting individual emails to our local Postfix server. To help diagnose the issue, I wrote a little test program which sends 5 emails: get smtp 1ms ( 1 ms) email 0 677ms (676 ms) email 1 802ms (125 ms) email 2 890ms ( 88 ms) email 3 973ms ( 83 ms) email 4 1088ms (115 ms) Discounting the handshaking in the first email, that's about 90ms per email. These timings have also been corroborated with another test app written by someone else using a different codepath, so it appears to be server related. I turned on detailed logging and I can see that the delay is between the end of message \r\n\r\n and the receive: [16:31:29.95] [SEND] \r\n.\r\n [16:31:30.05] [RECV] 250 2.0.0 Ok: queued as B128E1E063\r\n [16:31:30.08] [SEND] \r\n.\r\n [16:31:30.17] [RECV] 250 2.0.0 Ok: queued as 4A7DE1E06E\r\n [16:31:30.19] [SEND] \r\n.\r\n [16:31:30.27] [RECV] 250 2.0.0 Ok: queued as 68ACC1E072\r\n [16:31:30.28] [SEND] \r\n.\r\n [16:31:30.34] [RECV] 250 2.0.0 Ok: queued as 7EFFE1E079\r\n [16:31:30.39] [SEND] \r\n.\r\n [16:31:30.45] [RECV] 250 2.0.0 Ok: queued as 9793C1E07A\r\n The time intervals tell the story (discounting the handshaking required for the initial email) -- each email is waiting about 60-90 milliseconds for postfix to queue! This seems .. excessive .. to me. Is it "normal" for postfix to take 60-90 ms for every email you send it? Or do I just have unreasonable expectations? I would expect the local postfix server to queue the email in about 20ms, tops!

  • Problems compiling coreutils-8.5 on Solaris 5.10 on Intel platform

    - by PP
I am having trouble compiling coreutils-8.5 on Solaris 5.10 on the Intel platform using cc. Firstly I had the following error during ./configure: checking whether <wchar.h> uses 'inline' correctly... no configure: error: <wchar.h> cannot be used with this compiler (/tool/sunstudio12.1/bin/cc -xc99=all -g -D_REENTRANT). This seemed similar to the problem in this question. The solution was to edit configure and replace the reference of -xc99=all to -xc99=all,no_lib. This permitted the configure to complete. Then I ran /usr/sfw/bin/gmake and it progressed until I received the following message: Making all in src gmake[2]: Entering directory `/home/peterp/src/coreutils-8.5/src' gmake all-am gmake[3]: Entering directory `/home/peterp/src/coreutils-8.5/src' CCLD chroot Undefined first referenced symbol in file eaccess ../lib/libcoreutils.a(euidaccess.o) ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to chroot What could cause this problem? PS I was only compiling coreutils because I wanted colour ls.

  • My iPod never finishes syncing and only syncs audio, not pictures or video - any ideas as to how I c

    - by Sam Meldrum
My iPod classic 160GB worked well for a couple of years. I used to sync a lot of photos at full resolution to it, but this recently stopped working after I moved to Windows 7. iTunes is on latest version - 9.1.1.12 iPod software is up to date - 1.1.2 Windows 7 is fully up to date and patched The symptoms are that the iPod will start to sync, all audio (music and podcasts will sync successfully) but the syncing will then just appear to continue - itunes message: Syncing iPod. Do not Disconnect. This sync never completes - I have left it trying for days. I have tried resetting the iPod using the Restore button, whereupon it restarts sync from default options and again will sync audio, but nothing else. I suspect that something has gone wrong on the hard-drive - either a bad sector or some corrupt data. Is there a process I can go through to fix this? E.g. SpinRite or a format? If so how do I go about formatting an iPod and will it be recognised as an iPod after format and work as normal? Any advice on what to try next much appreciated?

  • Win7 Ultimate 64bit not finding my SSD, any ideas?

    - by Jakub
So I am trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on my new SSD (Kingston SNVP325-S2/64GB) and I have unplugged my other drives (for the install only). The SSD is detected by BIOS, I am running the latest Firmware for my motherboard P5N-E SLI (775 socket). Upon getting the Windows 7 install screen, it gives me a 'no drives detected'. I have tried Load Driver and downloding nForce drivers (latest for Win7 64bit signed WHQL) results in a message of (something like) "To continue please click Load Driver and load 32-bit and signed 64-bit drivers... blah blah" ... basically it does NOT accept my nForce SATA drivers, nor my 2ndary SATA drivers (JMicron? can't recall the exact name now). I have tried F8 at loading to 'disable driver signing' in hopes that it was an unsigned driver, however nothing works. The SSD is not detected by the Windos 7 installer. I wasted 4 hours on this last night, and gave up, and got nowhere. Anyone heard / ran into this issue before? How can I get the drive detected? Some more details: - Kingston SNVP325-S2/64GB V+ SSD - ASUS P5N-E SLI MOBO - 8GB RAM A-DATA (memory is checked out and fine)

I have a server I am running: Ubuntu 10.04 php 5.3.5 (fpm) Nginx I have installed postfix, and set it to loopback-only (only need to send) The problem is it is not sending. if i issue (at command line): echo "testing local delivery" | mail -s "test email to localhost" [email protected] I get the email no problem, but through PHP it does not arrive. • Too many concurrent connections Exchange 2010. What else is there to check?

    - by hydroparadise
I thought that I had this under control before. But for some reason during our last email marketing promo, I start receiving from our mass email client (built in house).. The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code is 0x800ccc67. The server repsonse was 421 4.3.2 The maximum number of concurrent connections has exceeded a limit, closing transmission channel again. There's several places I've checked to make sure that wouldn't be an issue. First I checked that receive connector was set to receive an adequate number of connections on our relay connector (1000 connections). Then, I would later find out about Throttling Policies. I created one and set all the properties I knew to set in terms of the policy following properties to 1000; EWSMaxConcurrency, OWAMaxConcurrency, CPAMaxConcurrency, and CPAMaxConcurrency. Still, the email client starts receiving the error shortly after 100 has been sent and takes about 15-30 seconds. The process is then repeatable, but still the error gets received at the same spot everytime. Is there a rate setting that I am missing? Was there a windows update that I missed looking at? Should the software have it's own throttling feature?

  • Outlook conversation view and categories

    - by Greg Jackson
At work, I tend to receive a couple of hundred emails a day. To keep from being overwhelmed, I have been using categories to sort and prioritize my mail messages. I auto-assign categories, then group by them: Code Reviews, To, CC, Distribution List/BCC. This means that, for example, a message that's explicitly to me will always show up higher in my inbox than one I get because I'm on a Distribution List. It's a huge time saver and it brings important emails to my attention much more quickly. Recently, the email threads I'm involved in have started to get quite long, and I'd like to be able to use conversation view, or at least sort by subject. Outlook, however, doesn't seem to support any (useful) combination of conversation view and categories. I've tried the following things without success: Grouping by category, then conversation view -- Outlook gives me an error (the grouping/sort combination is too complex). Using a custom view to group by conversation -- category doesn't show up as an option to sort by Grouping by category, then subject -- Getting closer, but the top subject is the first alphabetically, not the most recent Grouping by conversation, then category -- This works, but it doesn't do me much good, because the top conversation is the latest, without regard to what category it belongs to Is there a way for me to retain my category system or something similar while taking advantage of grouping related emails together? I've written Outlook plugins in the past, so even that's not too out there to serve as a proper solution.
