Hello,
I have developed my .net web app on XP using IIS6.
It uses just plain old master pages, nothing fancy. No nested master page.
When I deployed it to the server, which is IIS7, suddenly any page that implements a master page, will not be rendered.
Gives a 404 error instead.
Any ideas, about confguration that I need to specify in IIS7 that is not in IIS6?
Thanks

Does ASP.NET's ScriptManager have any sort of "helper" for binding to HTML control events? This would be similar to jQuery:
$('#foo').bind('click', function() {
alert('User clicked on "foo."');
});

I am creating a kiosk application and I want to ensure it is always, no matter what, on top of other Windows applications and the Windows task bar.
I am already blocking Windows keyboard commands (alt-tab, etc) but there are still situations that could cause an application to launch and steal the screen.
Is it possible to hook into Windows from .NET and continually test whether the application has focus and is on top, and if not then give it focus and make it on top?
I have found few links but could not decide which one is the best way.

(This stores all localised language data in one field. Can be a problem if we query from Sql)

(This one has a warning at the beginning that it is a hack and no longer supported)

I've inherited a bunch of code that has server script inside of .htm files.
On IIS, a handler mapping pumps.Htm pages though the asp.net engine.
Unfortunately, visual studio doesn't notice that they should be treated as code.
Is there any way to make VS treat .Htm files as code/aspx files?
I am building a desktop application that needs to update current user's status frequently. This status will be available as RSS feed.
In order to do this, I think I can create a asp.net folder and secure it using form authentication. When the desktop application written as winform in c# needs to update status, it can set WebRequest.Credentials and upload data.
Is there any better way of doing this?
Thanks
I have a Asp.net web application running with the following config setting.
<xhtmlConformance mode="Legacy"/>
This limits use of AJAX and compatibility with multiple browser.
If my understanding is correct, the HTML code of the aspx pages need to be fixed to comply with XHTML 1.0 Strict.
There are alot of HTML pages, ~1000, is there a tool that could speed up this process?
Hey
I am getting the following error
Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control.
but all I am trying to do is inside a ASP.NET REPEATER Control
<% if ( Eval("Message").ToString() == HttpContext.Current.Profile.UserName) %>
<% { %>
<asp:ImageButton runat="server" etc.... />
<% } %>
I have a uri string like: http://example.com/file?a=1&b=2&c=string%20param
Is there an existing function that would convert query parameter string into a dictionary same way as ASP.NET Context.Request does it.
I'm writing a console app and not a web-service so there is no Context.Request to parse the URL for me.
I know that it's pretty easy to crack the query string myself but I'd rather use a FCL function is if exists.

I am currently working on an ASP.NET 3.5 and C# web application which deals with users secure information like credit card numbers. What are some of the security measures which I need to take from an application development stand point so that I can sleep peacefully at night :)

I want to allow the user to add columns to a table in the UI.
The UI: Columns Name:__ Columns Type: Number/String/Date
My Question is how to build the SQL tables and C# objects so the implementation will be efficient and scalable.
My thought is to build two SQL tables:
TBL 1 - ColumnsDefinition:
ColId, ColName, ColType[Text]
TBL 2 - ColumnsValues:
RowId, ColId, Value [Text]
I want the solution to be efficient in DB space,
and I want to allow the user to sort the dynamic columns.
I work on .NET 3.5 MSSQL 2008.
Thanks.
I was told that the assembly files made from C# and F# source is interoperable as they are compiled into .NET assembly.
Q1 : Does that mean that C# can call F# functions just like they are C# functions?
Q2 : How about the IronPython and IronRuby? I don't see any assembly dll from the IronPython/IronRuby.
Q3 : Is there any easy way to use IronPython/IronRuby functions from C# or F#?
I add to my project a PageFunction and I get a dozen of the following error and the project won't compile:
'ResourceDictionary' root element is a generic type and requires a x:Class
attribute to support the x:TypeArguments attribute specified on the root
element tag.
Basically I get an error for each DataTemplate I merge in the ResourceDictionary, has anyone encoutered this problem before?
Note: I use VB.NET 3.5 on VS 2010.
Taking over some code from my predecessor and I found a query that uses the Like operator:
SELECT * FROM suppliers
WHERE supplier_name like '%'+name+%';
Trying to avoid SQL Injection problem and parameterize this but I am not quite sure how this would be accomplished. Any suggestions ?
note, I need a solution for classic ADO.NET - I don't really have the go-ahead to switch this code over to something like LINQ.
