• Single line command/script to archive a certain amount of folders

  I'm looking for a single line command or a script that archives 5 folders into .tar files (no gzip/bzip needed) in a certain directory and deletes the folders after a successful compression. It has to use the original folder name as file name for the archive too. So far I've used the current command, which only does one directory per time: tar -c directory > directory.tar && rm -rf directory Thanks in advance.

  I have a lot of custom keyboard shortcuts and will be migration Macs. I tested Migration Assistant and it did not seem to get these. I read somewhere that they are stored in the individual application's plist files in the ~/Library/Application Support folder but even after copying a few of these folders over the shortcuts do not seem to follow. How can I get all of the keyboard shortcuts migrated to a new mac?

  Is there a tool that can automatically remove the music sections of a given mp3 file so only the talking part is left? This would create a better listening experience when listening to the file on my portable mp3 player. Currently I'm doing the task manually by looking for 'dense' regions using Audacity, but this is very cumbersome for large files. Any help would be appreciated.

I reference one from the other, for example, using vlookup in the E: file to search from the D: file, like that: VLOOKUP(A1,'D:\SHARIQ\[FILE NAME.XLS]SHEETNAME'!A1:10,3,FALSE) As long as D:\SHARIQ\FILE NAME.XLS is open, I get the formula in the E: file displayed like this: VLOOKUP(A1,'[FILE NAME.XLS]SHEETNAME'!A1:10,3,FALSE) Why does it remove the whole path?

• Nginx: bug using if in location, how do I rectify

  I am using nginx in reverse proxy mode. In my server section I have this code to set expire and cache control of my static files. location ~* ^.+\.(css|js|png|gif)$ { access_log off; expires max; add_header Cache-Control public; if (!-f $request_filename) { proxy_pass http://localhost:82; } } This is quite obviously creating issues. Can someone help me correct this code to use try_files or rewrite?

  Hi, I am using tcsh and define an environmental variable as follows: setenv mycomp [email protected] so that when I need to copy files from the remote my.computer.com, I type the following: scp $mycomp:sourcepath destpath But when I do this, I get the following error: "Bad : modifier in $ (m)." where (m) is the first character after the colon. What is this error telling me, and how can I fix it?

  I am installed apache2-mpm-worker and left all config files default (I've never touched them much). Is it normal that when I restart apache there is at least 20 apache processes starting? Shouldn't it be just 2 like it says in the configuration? Also, my memory seems to grow very quickly until my machine crashes. I don't have any mods installed.

  How do you install any visualizer other than the default visualizer that ships with iTunes 10 in Windows 7. I've tried placing qtz files in my C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins folder and restarting iTunes, but of course no other visualizers can be selected. Common visualizers that I would like to install include those found here I'm of course aware that some of these are Mac OS only due to library dependencies - I would still like to know if it's possible to install any visualizer other than the default for iTunes in Windows 7

  A while back I set my computer up to sync folders on a shared network drive. I didn't choose my folders carefully and ended up with a huge amount of files to sync, which took forever. I would like to stop sync on those folders, then later select some smaller subfolders to sync. I believe this means I first must delete the existing sync partnerships, but there is no "Delete" option when I list them in Sync Center. How can I delete existing sync partnerships?

  I had to format a USB hard drive to ext3 to use it with a Linksys nas box. Now I can't read the hd when I unplug it from the nas and plug it directly into my Windows 7 computer. (The computer accesses the nas over a wireless connection, so I like to plug the hd directly into my pc when transferring large files.)   Is it possible to delete data from a read only standby database that imports shipped log files? At least in my theory this shouldn't be possible because the deletion would change the LSN and the log shipping should break. What I need is a smaller sized database than the database that ships the logs. So basically I need a way to have the (readonly) standby server storing only the most recent data.   I have two DVDs and if I open the DVDs and copy the content to the HDD and compare the respective files on the HDD it shows no difference. As I know DVD does also have some additional content (this content includes information saying if the DVD is bootable and some formating information I guess).
